The time-span of completing the minor thesis in Indonesian undergraduate programs has been one of the significant issues in higher education accreditation and quality insurance. Therefore, it is important to assess the possible determinants such as gender, research approach, and type of research, which might effect the students' completion period of minor thesis ("Skripsi"). This study used quantitative approach and involved 719 university students. The data was collected from the Faculty database from 2014 to 2017 and Mann Whitney U test and Crosstab analysis were applied to analyze the data. The result of this study showed that gender and research approach did not significantly contribute to the students' minor thesis completion period. Additionally, students who chose independent research, as their type of research, were able to finish their "Skripsi" faster than those who conducted joint research.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the different models on the factors that influence achievement of entrepreneurial competence and entrepreneurial intentions, between male and female students, which is mediated by attitudes and control perceptions of entrepreneurship. The participants of this study included 192 students who took entrepreneurship courses in various study programs at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta in the even semester of 2015-2016 academic year. Entrepreneurial intentions, entrepreneurial attitudes, perceptions of entrepreneurial control, and achievement of entrepreneurial competencies data were obtained using questionnaires, while the student gender information was gathered from the university database. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) statistics through Partial Least Square (PLS) in multiple group analyses with the help of Smart PLS 3.1.7 software. The results stressed that the students' achievement of entrepreneurship, after completing entrepreneurship subject, did not have direct effect to their entrepreneurial intentions. Furthermore, the achievement of entrepreneurial competence had a significant positive effect on entrepreneurial intentions by mediating a combination of attitudes and perceptions of entrepreneurial control in male students with a t-statistic of 4.401, at p < 0.05 and in female students with a t-statistic of 5.072 at p<0.05. The model difference test results obtained were t-statistics of 0.913, with p>0.05, which suggest that there is no significant difference in the model of the effect of achievement of entrepreneurial competence on entrepreneurial intentions, between male and female students, which is mediated by entrepreneurial attitudes and perceptions of entrepreneurial control.

Objectives This study aimed to investigate perceptions of what it means to "age well" and to explore similarities and differences between a Western and non-Western culture (Britain and Java). Methods Qualitative interviews explored how Javanese and British older adults defined aging well, establishing the similarities and differences between cultures. Javanese (n  = 14) and British (n  = 15) adults aged 61–80 (mean age = 68) participated. The data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis and organized with NVivo. Results Four themes were identified that captured what it means to age well across cultures: (a) good health is a springboard for aging well ; (b) holding a positive outlook is a decisive factor in aging well ; (c) "having enough" and "feeling safe" provide peace of mind ; and (d) spirituality and religiosity provide tranquility. Although both cultures mentioned similar factors, there were variations in the interpretations and emphasis within themes. For example, Javanese participants emphasized the importance of the social environment whereas British participants highlighted the physical environment. Discussion Differences between cultures are important for understanding how best to support people as they age. For example, in Java, aging well may be best supported by providing a vibrant social environment. For people in Britain, having a safe and secure physical environment may be more important. Background and Objectives: Physical capability, social support, loneliness, depression, and anxiety predict life satisfaction in older adults. Currently, no systematic review and meta-analysis has been conducted to investigate the strength of these associations globally. Therefore, this study quantified the strength of these associations., Research Design and Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using MEDLINE, EMBASE, APA PsycINFO, Web of Science, and Scopus. We included observational studies assessing the association between physical capability, social support, loneliness, depression, and anxiety with life satisfaction in adults aged 65+., Results: 10,552 articles were identified, of which 78 studies in 164,478 participants were included in systematic review and 57 were included in the meta-analysis. Greater life satisfaction was significantly associated with greater physical capabilities (OR=2.64; 95% CI 2.01-3.45; p<0.001, k=35, n=33,732), higher social support (OR=3.27; 95% CI 2.59-4.13, k=20 studies, n=13,228), and reduced loneliness (OR=3.30; 95% CI 2.53-4.30, k=11, n=33,638), depression (OR=4.76; 95% CI 3.10 - 7.32, k=24, n=64,097), and anxiety (OR=5.10; 95% CI 2.21-11.78, k=5, n=43,368). The strength of associations did not vary between Western and Eastern countries, year of publication, or quality. Gender was a moderator: loneliness was more strongly associated with life satisfaction in females. Age was also a moderator, the association between social support and life satisfaction weakened with increasing age., Discussion and Implications: Improving the physical capabilities of older individuals, fostering social support, and alleviating feelings of loneliness, depression, and anxiety may help build life satisfaction in older individuals, which policymakers and healthcare professionals should prioritise when implementing strategies., (© The Author(s) 2024.
