Among traditional fishing families in coastal village areas in Indonesia, women play a strategic role in improving the business they are engaged in and their families' welfare. This study aimed to examine the role and involvement of women in the empowerment and improvement of the welfare of poor, traditional fishing families in coastal areas. This study employed a quantitative research method with a descriptive research type. In addition to collecting data from the results of a survey of 500 respondents, this study also collected qualitative data from the results of in-depth interviews with 25 informants. Women in traditional fishing families play a significant role in supporting the family's financial stability by doing side jobs within or outside the fisheries sector. They have become more empowered, seeking various types of work to support the family's economy. Unfortunately, they do not have long-term goals for the work in which they are involved. Most women in traditional fishing families face obstacles such as capital acquisition, marketing issues, and a strong patriarchal culture that has hampered their work opportunities and developing businesses. The purpose of this article is to investigate the perception of teachers on tolerance and the way in which tolerance can be taught in education institutions. It is based on interviews with 152 teachers from 28 high schools in four cities (Batu, Jember, Lamongan, and Nganjuk) in East Java, Indonesia, as well as Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with high school principals, teachers, and representatives from the Office of Education in the city of Surabaya. While our findings confirm the previous studies about the role of teachers in shaping students' approach to diversity, we put forth an argument that the concept of tolerance has not been whole-heartedly embraced by Indonesian teachers. The absence of interreligious learning renders questionable the effectiveness of cultivating tolerance in a multi-religious Indonesia. The first part of the article offers a theoretical discussion on the link between education and tolerance. In the second part, our findings will be presented, including teachers' view of tolerance, the way tolerance is taught, and various strategies develop to prevent intolerance. This article describes the spiritual experience of being a Muslim and minority in Manila, the capital of Asia's most populous Catholic country, the Philippines. This research used an ethnography approach to understand how Muslims in Manila negotiate their identity as Muslims as well as Filipinos who live in Barangay as a minority and face bad sentiment, especially after the Battle of Marawi and the Maguindanao Massacre. This research found that even when facing negative stigma on most of the national media coverage after the Battle of Marawi and the Maguindanao Massacre, Muslims in Manila feel that they are free to express their identity as Muslims, as Anak Bansa, and as Filipinos with their limitations. The convenience and anonymity offered by the internet have led people to seek health information online. Every year, the number of individuals searching for health information online continues to increase. However, along with the benefits of easier access to health information, new challenges arise. One of these challenges is the potential impact on individuals who search for health information online, such as increased anxiety or stress and spending more time on information-seeking activities. This study aims to examine the relationship between health anxiety and online health information seeking. The research utilizes an explanatory quantitative method involving a sample of 100 undergraduate students from various faculties at Airlangga University. The study employs the Rank-Spearman correlation test to analyze the data. The results of the Rank-Spearman correlation analysis indicate a significant relationship between the intensity of health anxiety and the intensity of online health information seeking (p value 0.301 > p critical 0.165). Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. This means that there is a relationship between health anxiety and seeking health information. Furthermore, this relationship has a positive direction, suggesting that lower levels of health anxiety correspond to lower levels of online health information seeking and vice versa. These findings have important implications for understanding the psychological impact of seeking online health information. It is crucial for the public to be aware of the potential risks of anxiety and the importance of managing health information wisely. Further research can delve into the factors influencing this relationship and provide recommendations for the development of more effective policies and approaches to managing online health information seeking. This article discusses a recent phenomenon of radicalization among university students in Indonesia, with special attention to what may be called "pseudo-radicalists" (i.e., a group of students who have been exposed to radical ideologies); however, they are not strongly grounded in an exclusive and extreme religious viewpoint that justifies militant attitudes and violent actions. We carefully and critically examine the extent to which educated youth have been infiltrated by radical influences and how they de-radicalized themselves. Our research includes seven government tertiary institutions identified by the National Agency for Combating Terrorism or Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Terorisme as having been inflicted by radicalism, namely, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Diponegoro, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Universitas Airlangga, and Universitas Brawijaya. By situating our case study within the existing literature on radicalization and de-radicalization, we hope that this article will enrich our perspectives and shed some light on crucial issues facing educated youth, especially within tertiary campuses. The subculture of urban global popular-culture youth fans is believed to be a resistance-subculture against the hegemony of dominant power. This study, however, found that the subculture given rise to by the urban, global popular-culture youth fans of 'the Mortal Instruments' in Indonesia is in opposition to the Neo-Gramscian thought which has become the foundation of popular-culture studies. In constructing their identity, some of the digital fandoms of global popular culture have been critical of the content of cultural texts as a form of resistance against texts produced by cultural industries. However, they have only been developing artificial forms of resistance within the system, that is, in fan sites. This study found that the urban youths joining digital fandoms are not free from the hegemony of capitalism because they have become playlabourers, engaging in free digital labour for the powers of the global culture industry. This critical attitude of urban youths, in building their digital fandom-subculture identity, is incapable of standing against the system. They even position themselves within the network of cultural-industry capitalism – identified by the Frankfurt School as the domination and superiorization of the industry power of global entertainment that is continually self-restoring. Introduction: Mental and social well-being in adolescents can be improved by organized activities in peer groups. This qualitative study aimed to explore organized activities in peer groupsrelated to mental and social well-being in adolescents. Method: Five focus groups were carried out with 30 adolescents aged 12-24 in Surabaya, Indonesia. Participants were purposively selected and had all experienced organized activities. A thematic approach was used for analysis and data collection was completed at the point of data saturation. Results: Four interconnected themes emerged from the data; (a) self-esteem and self-regulation, (b) resilience, hardiness and mental toughness, (c) social adjustment and (d) social support in organized activities. Adolescents who involve in sports, arts, and clubs have high confidence, easiness to control their emotion, stronger in facing various problems. They also felt more adapt, respect, tolerant of others and get social support. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that organized activities in peer groups improve mental and social well-being. Adolescents can have good self-esteem, self-regulation, resilience, hardiness and mental toughness. Adolescents also can have good social adjustment and social support. One of the efforts to prevent a mental and social problem is early recognition or detection in adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the age of the digital society, online fandom communities are becoming popular groups of young urban cultural enthusiasts in cyberspace. The aim of this study is to examine the cultural identity of these groups from the perspective of Cultural Studies. It used virtual ethnography as a methodology to examine the online fandom community "The Mortal Instruments Indonesia". In addition to the analysis of conversational texts, it also employed offline interviews of 43 participants and two focus group discussions. The study found that the identity constructed by urban youths as part of digital fandoms was fragmented into two subculture groups. The first was a group of fans consuming the popular culture in which they were interested with a deep emotional attachment, and developing fiction comprised of settings, storylines, and imaginary characters from it; the second was a group of fans categorized as the critics of the texts of popular culture who had an adequate level of media literacy for this purpose. Additionally, they were multi fandoms who were also fans of other popular cultures. This study proves that the youths' interest in global popular culture is not only due to the purpose of pleasure, but also because of their role as active prosumers, producers who create both cultural texts and paratexts which descend from their creativity.
