The Small Modular Reactor emerges as a recommended technology for nuclear power plant (NPP) development in West Kalimantan, particularly at the Pantai Gosong site. NPP demand highly purified water for cooling system, while seawater contains high TDS, so desalination by utilizing heat and power from NPP, offers a viable solution. Additionally, desalination products can supply freshwater to communities within a 10 km radius, including Sungai Raya and Sungai Raya Island Districts. This study aims to determine the techno-economic aspect of desalination cogeneration with SMR-type NPP for West Kalimantan. The methodologies in this research encompass a comprehensive literature review, a qualitative assessment of desalination technology, and a quantitative economic analysis utilizing the DEEP version 5.1. Techno-economic analysis shows that the simple payback period for MED is 12.3 years, while MSF is 13.9 years. Power lost at MED is 5.3 MWe, while MSF is 9.1 MWe. At a temperature of 30.7 °C, the total water cost of the MED is $1.277 $/m3, while MSF is $1.595 $/m3. MED desalination with temperature 70 °C can be effective using residual heat as an energy source. Cogeneration of MED technology can be option for utilization of heat and power in the context of NPP development in West Kalimantan.

Dünya Bankası’nın kişi başına GSYH ülke sınıflandırmasına göre Türkiye 1955 yılından araştırmanın yapıldığı 2021’e kadar geçen dönemde orta gelirli ülkeler grubunda yer almıştır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle Türkiye ekonomisinin karşılaştığı durumun orta gelir tuzağı olup olmadığı Türkiye ve referans ülke olarak alınan ABD GSYH’lerinin 1960 – 2021 dönemindeki yıllık farklarına bir geleneksel ve üç farklı yapısal kırılmalı birim kök test uygulanmak suretiyle araştırılmıştır. Bir yapısal kırılmalı test dışındaki tüm birim kök sınamalarının bulguları serinin durağan olmadığını göstermiştir. Diğer taraftan Türkiye’nin kişi başına GSYH’sinin referans ülke ABD GSYH’sine oranı ilgili dönem için nispi eşik olarak belirlenen 0,08 – 0,36 aralığında kalmıştır. Bulgular Türkiye’nin orta gelir tuzağına takıldığına dair kesin kanıtlar sağlamamakla birlikte bu riskin söz konusu olduğuna işaret etmektedir. Daha sonra Türkiye ve ABD GSYH’leri yakınsaması ile ticari açıklık, imalat sanayi ürünleri ithalatı ve ihracatı, tarımsal ürünler ithalatı ve ihracatı, ihracatın ithalatı karşılama oranı, reel efektif döviz kuru arasındaki uzun ve kısa dönem ilişkiler 1990–2021 dönemi yıllık verileri kullanılmak suretiyle araştırılmıştır. Uygulanan ARDL sınır testinin bulguları ticari açıklık düzeyindeki artışların uzun dönemde Türkiye ile ABD kişi başına GSYH’lerinin yakınsamasına neden olduğunu göstermektedir. İmalat sanayi ürünleri ithalatının toplam GSYH içindeki payındaki artışlar hem uzun hem de kısa dönemde, tarımsal ürünler ithalatının payındaki artışlar ise uzun dönemde ıraksamaya yol açmaktadır.

Advanced microelectronics in the future may require semiconducting channel materials beyond silicon. Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, with their atomically thin thickness, hold great promise for future electronic devices. One challenge to achieving high-performance 2D semiconductor field effect transistors (FET) is the high contact resistance at the metal-semiconductor interface. In this study, we develop a charge-transfer doping strategy with WSe2/α-RuCl3 heterostructures to achieve low-resistance ohmic contact for p-type monolayer WSe2 transistors. We show that hole doping as high as 3 × 1013 cm-2 can be achieved in the WSe2/α-RuCl3 heterostructure due to its type-III band alignment, resulting in an ohmic contact with resistance of 4 kΩ μm. Based on that, we demonstrate p-type WSe2 transistors with an on-current of 35 μA·μm-1 and an ION/IOFF ratio exceeding 109 at room temperature.

This is an exploratory study considering instructional methods in mathematics education. The study examined misconceptions arising from selected assignments undertaken by sixty-five students. The students were attending a calculus mathematical course unit on limits of functions, in different academic areas offered at selected tertiary institutions in Western Uganda. In this study, forms of expressing ideas on limits of functions are considered as far as they facilitate access to underlying mathematical principles. We explored the use and application of tools for representing mathematical ideas to enhance students' conceptual understanding and problem solving skills. A small-scale pilot of interventions using readily available GeoGebra dynamical computer software was applied. The diagnostic assignment on limits of functions was used for data collection. The main objective was to examine whether or not students preferred the application of multiple representations to the analytic approach. The semi-structured interview protocol was also conducted to probe further and correlate students' responses and their problem-solving abilities. The results showed that multiple representations-based instructions significantly changed students' understanding of the limits of functions. The results promise better access and understanding of more abstract mathematical concepts and may support students' problem-solving abilities. The semi-structured interviews conducted indicated that multiple representations supported and, therefore, enhanced students' understanding and solving of the limits of functions. This study highly recommends that mathematics educators should adapt multiple representations-based instructions to enhance students' critical thinking, and problem-solving.

The present study explored 285 11th-grade students' preconceptions, misconceptions, and errors in solving mathematics tasks by graphical method. A descriptive-explorative study design was adopted. Cluster sampling was used to select students from sampled secondary schools in eastern and central Uganda. Students' paper and pen solution sketches together with the task-based interviews were used to identify students' preconceptions, misconceptions, and errors in linear programming (LP). Students' responses were analyzed thematically and interpreted as students' learning gaps. The results indicated that students lacked proficiency in relating basic algebraic concepts and procedures to the mathematical language with which LP is conveyed. Generally, most students could not adequately use their previous knowledge and connect it to the learning and solving of LP tasks. Besides applying wrong mathematical algebraic concepts, students had difficulties interpreting and writing correct models (inequalities) from LP word problems. Misconceptions and errors were common and peculiar to and in individual student's solution sketches especially in applying the concepts of equations and inequalities to graphically solve and optimize LP tasks. Students held extremely weak concept images of graphing equations, and inequalities and their linkage to optimizing feasible regions. This research provides insight into the learning of mathematics word problems(LP) and recommends that mathematics educators should effectively apply students' preconceptions, misconceptions, and errors as opportunities for enhancing students' LP conceptual changes. For mathematical proficiency, suitable learning approaches, methods, and strategies should be adapted to address specific individual student's flawed conceptual and procedural knowledge and understanding. These approaches may guide educators in helping students to construct the connections between the old and the new knowledge.

This paper attempts to analyze the relation among gold prices and other macroeconomic and financial variables and addresses the question whether gold is a safe haven or a hedge for investors. The study investigates the relationship by using an econometric analysis for top gold exporter and importer countries, for a sample period of 11 years from 2000 to 2011. The results are twofold (i) return of silver, USD returns and change in the volatility index influences gold returns positively whereas, Swiss Franc and Canadian Dollar returns influence gold returns negatively regardless of presence of the 2008 crisis. (ii) In times of stress, our findings indicate that Swiss Franc, Norwegian Krone and Canadian Dollar function as haven whereas, on average, Swiss Franc, Canadian Dollar and 10 year US treasuries function as a hedge against gold but the results show no evidence for the US dollar.

Thermally excited electrons and holes form a quantum-critical Dirac fluid in ultraclean graphene and their electrodynamic responses are described by a universal hydrodynamic theory. The hydrodynamic Dirac fluid can host intriguing collective excitations distinctively different from those in a Fermi liquid1-4. Here we report the observation of the hydrodynamic plasmon and energy wave in ultraclean graphene. We use the on-chip terahertz (THz) spectroscopy technique to measure the THz absorption spectra of a graphene microribbon as well as the propagation of the energy wave in graphene close to charge neutrality. We observe a prominent high-frequency hydrodynamic bipolar-plasmon resonance and a weaker low-frequency energy-wave resonance of the Dirac fluid in ultraclean graphene. The hydrodynamic bipolar plasmon is characterized by the antiphase oscillation of massless electrons and holes in graphene. The hydrodynamic energy wave is an electron-hole sound mode with both charge carriers oscillating in phase and moving together. The spatial-temporal imaging technique shows that the energy wave propagates at a characteristic speed of [Formula: see text] near the charge neutrality2-4. Our observations open new opportunities to explore collective hydrodynamic excitations in graphene systems.

Literature is well-stocked with studies confirming that an instructional approach, self-efficacy, and mathematical reasoning skills are critical for enhancing students' conceptual understanding and achievement in mathematics. However, there has been little emphasis on establishing whether being able to reason mathematically depends only on the instructional approach or students' self-efficacy beliefs about mathematics also play a hidden role. A quasi-experimental study involving 301 grade 11 students from six public secondary schools in one district was carried out to investigate the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between instruction and students' mathematical reasoning. Participants of the study were selected using the cluster random sampling method. Data were collected before and after the intervention via a mathematical reasoning test and a mathematics self-efficacy beliefs questionnaire. A Parallel Multiple Mediator Model in SPSS using the PROCESS custom dialogue version 3.4 was employed for data analysis. Findings suggest that mathematics self-efficacy and task-specific self-efficacy beliefs collectively and significantly mediate the effect of the instructional approach on students' mathematical reasoning. The Student Teams-Achievement Division (STAD) was found to be an effective approach for enhancing students' mathematical reasoning alongside self-efficacy beliefs. These findings provide evidence on the need to select an instructional approach that does not only focus on developing students' cognitive abilities such as mathematical reasoning but also fosters students' affective attributes such as maths self-efficacy beliefs.

The present study is a part of design research in local instructional theory in a pre-algebraic lesson using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. The article will focus on recommendations for the type of pre-algebra class that supports elementary school students' algebraic thinking. As design research study, it followed the three steps of preliminary studies, teaching experiment and retrospective analysis. The subject of the study is 32 fifth grade students of MIN 2 Palembang during the teaching experiment phase. The data were gathered from students' worksheets, lesson observation and interviews with the students. Data analysis was done using a constant comparative qualitative method. The results from the study indicate that pattern investigation in pre-algebra class that visualized geometrically supports the students to identify the form of the pattern and construct generalization.

IntroductionTraumatic brain injury (TBI) is considered as the most robust environmental risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Besides direct neuronal injury and neuroinflammation, vascular impairment is also a hallmark event of the pathological cascade after TBI. However, the vascular connection between TBI and subsequent AD pathogenesis remains underexplored.MethodsIn a closed-head mild TBI (mTBI) model in mice with controlled cortical impact, we examined the time courses of microvascular injury, blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction, gliosis and motor function impairment in wild type C57BL/6 mice. We also evaluated the BBB integrity, amyloid pathology as well as cognitive functions after mTBI in the 5xFAD mouse model of AD.ResultsmTBI induced microvascular injury with BBB breakdown, pericyte loss, basement membrane alteration and cerebral blood flow reduction in mice, in which BBB breakdown preceded gliosis. More importantly, mTBI accelerated BBB leakage, amyloid pathology and cognitive impairment in the 5xFAD mice.DiscussionOur data demonstrated that microvascular injury plays a key role in the pathogenesis of AD after mTBI. Therefore, restoring vascular functions might be beneficial for patients with mTBI, and potentially reduce the risk of developing AD.

This research aimed to develop a learning model of social multistatus character genre in Speaking Class at Department of Study Javanese Language in Universitas Negeri Semarang. This model emphasized the performance of the use of the Java language orally. Students practiced in the form of monologue and dialogue by changing the social status of the character. Changing social status of the character offered to stimulate the application of the rules of the Java language in varied diversity. This study used the Research and Development approach. This study was conducted over 2 years. The first year activity was speaking learning model with the guided of various texts by changing the social status character. The products had been validated by several education of Java language experts. In the second year, seminars and application of these models had been conducted in the Speaking Class. The result showed the model was effective because students' spoken ability increased. Students improved their learning spirit and they participated actively during the learning process.
