Coal is the main fuel in steam power plants (PLTU) whose availability is dwindling. Realizing this, one of the efforts made is to mix coal with other fuels, known as Co-Firing. This is done as an effort to substitute new and renewable energy and is friendly to the environment. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of a mixture of kedondong sawdust in coal on performance and exhaust emissions at PLTU. This research was conducted using quantitative methods based on experimental data. Kedondong wood powder as co-firing is varied, namely 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and compared to 100% coal. The combustion process is carried out in the boiler and the data obtained is in the form of operating parameters and exhaust emissions. Based on this research, it was found that all operational parameter data were normal and were within the allowable standard limits. Likewise, exhaust emissions produced by both NOx and SO2 show better results than the use of 100% coal.

The development of pellet fuel from biomass has a great opportunity because Indonesia is an agricultural country. Utilizing this biomass can increase economic value, minimize waste generated, and reduce emissions released into the environment. In this study, the pellet fuel was made from sawdust obtained from the Semarang wood sawmill industry. The raw materials are mixed with adhesive, water and then formed using a pellet machine. The high water content in the pellets that have just come out of the pelletizing (27%) process requires drying treatment. The aim of this work was to find out the effect of drying time on the moisture content of the pellet fuel to meet existing standards. The variation of drying time used is 10, 15 and 20 minutes at 100° C. The results showed that the moisture content of the pellet was 22% (10 min), 19% (15 min) and 17% (20 min). The water content in the pellets will decrease 4% on average along with the drying time. However, the water content was still slightly higher than the specified standard (8-13%). Based on model predictions, the necessary drying time is 30-35 min. Ash content obtained from this study is 0.7%. The drying time can affect the density of the resulting pellet product. Accordingly, further studies are needed to determine the drying optimum temperature.

Greywater is household waste sourced from kitchens and bathrooms, except for toilets. Around 58%-85% of greywater can be generated from the total volume of household wastewater per house. It is necessary to treat wastewater before it is discharged into water bodies to prevent the adverse effects of contaminants on the environment and human health while reducing the demand for clean water. However, due to environmentally friendly, socially sustainable, and economical treatment costs, considering that greywater is produced every day and continuously, Multi Soil Layering (MSL) technology can be an alternative to remove contaminants in water. Thus, this study aims to determine the migration of COD in greywater using MSL technology. Other parameters tested were pH and temperature by taking samples of wastewater in residential areas of Semarang City. In this study, there are two stages, namely the preliminary stage and the running stage. The MSL system will use three reactors with andosol soil, apus bamboo, and coconut shell activated charcoal as mixed soil blocks (SMB). Reactor A (activated charcoal and andosol soil), reactor B (bamboo apus and andosol soil), reactor C (andosol soil, bamboo apus, activated charcoal). The results of domestic wastewater treatment using the MSL method in each of the three reactors could remove COD by 75%, 74%, and 76%. Reactor C obtained the highest COD removal efficiency compared to other reactors.

This study aims to investigate the ability of solar-powered electrocoagulation for tofu wastewater, especially for reducing COD and TSS. This feasibility was compared with conventional electrocoagulation using electricity from the state electricity company. The study was conducted on a laboratory scale using a batch reactor electrocoagulation and aluminium electrode. The types of electrolytes used are sodium chloride and potassium chloride. The contact time is 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours. The results showed that removal of COD and TSS in tofu wastewater increases with a longer electrolysis time. During two hours of electrolysis time, the removal of COD and TSS were 25 and 53.85%, respectively. This process yielded the highest COD and TSS removal of 75 and 76.9%, respectively, at 6 hours. Pseudo-second order kinetics about COD removal, both in conventional and solar panel systems, is concluded. By adding NaCl electrolytes, the conductivity of wastewater was increased, and then the removal of COD and TSS was also increased. At the end of the electrolysis time (5 hours), the pH of wastewater was neutral. The results of sludge characterization using FTIR showed the presence of hydroxyl groups, amide compound, and aromatic compound. The process of using solar panels gives results slightly different from conventional electricity, but has advantages in terms of lower operating costs and environmental friendly.

Reuse of wastewater in the industry is mostly accomplished for watering plants. In a closed cycle, however, industrial wastewater can be returned through treatment to save water usage. This study aims to analyze textile wastewater's ability to be used as scrubbing liquid in the SO2 gas and particulate removal from coal combustion using a packed wet scrubber. Usually, the textile industry uses boiler fueled by coal and discharging base/alkaline wastewater. The method is carried out experimentally using a prototype device using a combination of cyclone and scrubber, with a source of coal combustion gas emissions. We did experiments using textile wastewater four times and two times using clean water as a control. We monitor the SO2, particulate emission in the gas stream, and pH, sulfate levels, and TSS levels in collected wastewater according to SNI. SO2 gas and particulates from coal combustion will be absorbed by the scrubber's wastewater spray so that SO2 will dissolve into sulfate, particulate matter into TSS. The study results using textile wastewater showed the removal efficiency of particulates on cyclone by 34-78%. The removal efficiency of SO2 on wet scrubber was only 24.7%. There was an increase in TSS levels after passing through the scrubber by 46%. The rise in TSS and sulfate concentrations in the wastewater indicates the absorption of SO2 and particulates into wastewater. Based on this result, we can use textile wastewater for controlling the emission of SO2 and particulate from coal combustion by feeding it for the scrubber. However, the efficiency of this process is not optimal.

The sudden decline in profit at PII Corporation is an important issue that requires further discussion. This study aims to evince whether there are indications of fraud in the preparation of PII Corporation's profit and loss statements, which can be proven through Benford's Law. This study uses the Binomial Test, Sign Test, and Chi-Squared Test methods to test the alignment of data with Benford's Law. The sample in this study consists of PII Corporation's 2013-2019 profit and loss reports. The results have shown that 25 out of 28 tests expressed no indication of fraud, while 3 tests have indicated fraud, detected in the fourth digit of the company's expenses, in the first 2 digits of its expenses, and in the last 2 digits of other incomes and costs. After further investigation, it was found that the significant decrease in profit occurred because the company had paid interest on bonds with quite large values in 2019, so the statistical test results were considered false-positive. The recommendation that can be given is that PII Corporation regulates the imposition of the bond coupon value in stages.

If data values are sorted from smallest to largest, they produce a sequence of monotonically increasing data. Statistics with random variables ordered from smallest to largest value are called order statistics. The ordered statistics will be applied to exponentially distributed data. The exponential distribution is the distribution of random variables that spread according to the exponential function. The statistical method discussed is probability density function of exponential distribution of order statistics. This function is useful for creating cumulative distribution and reliability functions from ordered statistic. Random variables that are processed, namely minimum, median, and maximum of random variables. The probability density function is useful for determining the probability distribution of a random variable. The cumulative distribution function is useful for knowing the maximum value of a random variable. Meanwhile the reliability function is useful for knowing the minimum value of a random variable. They will process all ordered statistics random variables from the smallest value to the largest value. These functions will be applied at lamp lifetime. This study be assumed that lamp lifetime is exponentially distributed. The problem in this research is how to determine minimum, median, and maximum values of lamp life. While the aim of this study is to construct a probability density function from exponential distribution of order statistics, in order to obtain minimum, median, and maximum lamp lifetime. The lamp lifetime will be predicted using cumulative distribution and reliability functions. Based on calculation obtained the result that minimum value of ordered statistics that lamp lifetime is 3.5 months, median value of ordered statistics that lamp lifetime is 220 months, and maximum value of ordered statistics that lamp lifetime is 240 months. By knowing lifetime of lamp by reliability, the company can determine length of warranty period for the lamp product. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
