2. Construction of street tree risk assessment system and empirical analysis based on non-destructive testing technologies.

Abstract

The traditional visual tree assessment method is subjective in evaluating tree risks and therefore not effective in precisely detecting internal decay in tree trunk and root systems. To improve the accuracy of street tree risk assessment, a new nondestructive testing method was proposed. This new tree risk assessment method combines different non-destructive testing technologies, such as sonic tomography and ground-penetrating radar, which could significantly increase the accuracy of risk assessment in tree trunks and roots. The method was applied to evaluate the risk of 1,001 street trees in Shanghai's historical feature protection area. The results revealed that despite most street trees having low branch and trunk risk levels, more than one-third had high root risk levels. The risk factors of street trees were mainly in the trunk and root system, with a significant correlation between the street tree risk level and tree cavities, diseases, and insect pests, as well as the depth and range of the root distribution, leaning, and internal decay in trunks. With the help of non-destructive testing and risk assessment analysis, as well as targeted prevention measures, the possibility of street risk damage was largely reduced, including street trees tilting and collapsing during typhoons, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This work presents the evaluation effectiveness of the GPR tomography for characterization of square voids in engineering structures. One of the columns of the iconic main building of the Moscow State University was selected as a target object with known configuration. Given that the heterogeneity of the column complicates the interpretation of GPR data acquired in reflection mode, transmission tomographic ray coverage was employed. Mathematical modelling and tomographic inversion to locate real objects were carried out. The radar tomography and the common-offset GPR geometry techniques are compared with respect to the acquired information about location, shape and dimensions of the void inside the column. The tomography results are characterized by high precision and are more reliable compared to the results of single-fold GPR survey., В работе представлена оценка эффективности георадарной томографии, направленной на поиск и описание квадратных пустот в инженерных структурах. Объектом исследования была одна из колонн главного здания МГУ с известной конструкцией. Неоднородность строения колонны сильно затрудняет интерпретацию данных георадарного профилирования и делает невозможным поиск пустоты, находящейся внутри колонны, поэтому нами была применена томографическая методика. Были выполнены математическое моделирование и томографическое обращение для оконтуривания пустоты. Нами выполнено сравнение результатов георадарной томографии и традиционного георадарного профилирования с точки зрения полученной информации о местоположении, форме и размерах пустоты внутри колонны. Результаты томографического обращения характеризуются более высокой точностью и достоверностью по сравнению с традиционной георадарной методикой.
