The aim of the present study was to estimate the complex association between Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), substance use, and other risky behaviours in Czech adolescents whilst providing prevalence estimates of IGD and psychometric information regarding the Czech Internet Gaming Disorder Scale–Short-Form (IGDS9-SF). A representative sample of 3,950 Czech adolescents was recruited through stratified random sampling in the school setting. Disordered gamers showed frequent use of specific substances such as pharmaceuticals, methylenedioxymethamphetamine, and lysergic acid diethylamide. In contrast, non-gamers had higher prevalence of alcohol, cigarettes, sedatives and tranquillisers, and marijuana use. A logistic regression, utilising IGDS9-SF raw scores and average daily gaming time, revealed a U-shaped relationship between gaming and both alcohol and cigarette use. Additionally, conduct problems such as bullying, and risky in-game behaviours were more prevalent among disordered gamers, with the exception of forging parents' signatures. The overall prevalence of IGD was 3.62% (95% CI = [3.1%, 4.3%]), with higher rates in males (5.89%; 95% CI = [4.9%, 7.0%]) than in females (1.45%; 95% CI = [1.0%, 2.1%]). The Czech IGDS9-SF used in the present study showed adequate psychometric properties. The association between gaming and substance use behaviours may be specific and multifaceted depending on the severity of the gaming-related problems. Furthermore, disordered gamers may become more vulnerable due to a higher incidence of conduct problems, bullying (victimisation), and in-game risky behaviours such as engagement with microtransactions mechanics (e.g., loot box) within video games. Purpose: The study aimed to evaluate anti-fat attitudes and beliefs among Czech adolescents and develop a Czech version of the Anti-Fat Attitudes Questionnaire (AFA) and Beliefs About Obese Persons Scale (BAOP). Methods and Participants: A total of 3,345 Czech adolescents aged 11–19 years completed sociodemographics, AFA, and BAOP. Results: The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed a three-factor solution and adequate factor validity for AFA. For BAOP, our data did not support the one-factor solution. The bifactor solution that accounted for the negatively formulated items fit, however, the data well. We also found both questionnaires to be invariant by sex. Age was inversely associated with BAOP and AFA Fear of Fat; higher ages were associated with higher AFA Dislike subscale scores. Girls scored higher on AFA Fear of Fat and boys on Dislike and Willpower. Limitations: Only Czech adolescents were included as participants, which could limit the applicability of the results to other age groups or cultural contexts. Furthermore, the use of self-report measurements introduces the potential for response biases. This longitudinal study examined the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on adolescents' online behaviour and their levels of aggression and depression. The aim of the study was to investigate how long-term exposure to the Covid-19 pandemic affects the prevalence of risky gaming among young adolescents and their levels of aggression and depression. The used measurements were: The Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short-Form, The Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire, and The Scale of depresivity Dolejš, Skopal, Suchá. The research was carried out using three data collections with six-month interval between them. The first and last data collection interval was one and a half years. In all three measurements, 45 respondents were included (Mean age=14.6; SD=0.6 at W1). The results help to understand better the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on adolescents and the need to also focus on the impact of the pandemic on mental health. There is a lack of mapping of the issue of addictive digital gaming in the Czech Republic. The main goal of the research project was to develop a psychodiagnostic method to determine the acceptable level of gaming and to determine when this activity exceeds the normal limit and becomes risky. At the same time, the aim was to map the prevalence of risky gaming among Czech adolescents aged 11 to 19 years. The presentation will introduce a new psychodiagnostic method - the Questionnaire of Digital Game Playing (QDGP) - which aims to assess the relationship of adolescents to digital games in the Czech environment. The QDGP targets all digital games (online and offline) that can be played through different types of display devices (computer, mobile phone, etc.). The QDGP contains a total of 32 items. The method provides recommended score thresholds to categorise respondents into non-disordered, problematic (risky), and disordered (addicted). With the rising prevalence of obesity, food addiction has become a widely researched topic. The presented study examined the between food addiction and experienced weight stigma in the adult population of Czech women. The aim of the study was to investigate the impact of food addiction on women's mental health via the connection between food addiction and experiencing weight stigma. We translated and used Yale Food Addiction Scale (mYFAS 2.0.), and the Weight stigma scale SSI-Bb. The investigation was carried in over 1000 participants who completed the questionnaires online. Food addiction and weight-related stigma are connected to negative consequences on well-being, emotional health, and physical health. In the obesogenic environment with the wide availability of hyper-palatable food and enormous pressure on appearance and slim body cult, people often use food to cope with life and its stressors. Especially for adolescence can be difficult to build a healthy relationship with food. The face-to-face research using a pencil-and-paper version of a set of questionnaires conducted in the Czech Republic among randomly chosen adolescents evaluated the prevalence of food addiction and its connection to other psychological variables. For the purpose of the study, we adapted psychodiagnostic methods such as Yale Food Addiction Scale (mYFAS 2.0), Eating Disorder Psychopathology (EDE-Q8), and Food Cravings Questionnaire-Trait (FCQ-T-r a = 0.92). The prevalence of food addiction in the representative sample of Czech adolescents (N = 4409) was 4.69%, with a higher prevalence for girls (7.2% vs. 1.6%), while the prevalence was 9.17% in the clinical cohort, with a higher prevalence in girls (14.55% vs. 3.70%). Conducted hierarchical logistic regression of food addiction explained 66% of the variability of food addiction. Food addiction is a complex phenomenon, and our research represents the first step in analyzing the issue in the Czech Republic. A more profound understanding of the phenomenon may help create effective prevention strategies and design treatment procedures. Our research design is based on the assumption that impulsivity and aggression are closely related. The investigation is focused on differences in the aggressive behaviour of students with average and high rates of impulsivity. The research sample consists of 5841 pupils in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic aged 10-15 years. Impulsivity was measured by Impulsiveness Scale (SIDS). Impulsivity is conceived as a one-dimensional construct. Aggressive behaviour was determined with Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ) that consists of scores for: (1) physical aggression, (2) verbal aggression, (3) anger and (4) hostility. A statistical analysis revealed significant differences in aggressiveness between research groups, which differed in impulsivity levels. Objectives. The purpose of this study was to verify the factor structure of the Czech translation of Self-Curiosity Attitude-Interest Scale (SCAI) in Czech grammar schools, students and to explore reliability of the scale. Curiosity about self was initially conceptualized as the desire that people have to explore and understand themselves and their psychological functioning beyond what they already know about themselves. Sample and setting. A total of 2356 Czech adolescents, aged 15-19, who studied grammar school participated in the study. The research sample consisted of 1406 female students and 950 male students. The sample covered 2,75% of the Czech adolescent population at grammar schools. Statistical analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to verify the factor structure of the Self-Curiosity Attitude-Interest Scale. Omega coefficients were used as the estimates of reliability. Results. CFA confirmed two-factor structure of the Czech version of Self-Curiosity Attitude-Interest Scale. Reliability reaches a value of 0.72. Study limitation. Objectives. the main aim of the study was to identify impact of impulsivity on adolescent risk behaviors. Sample and setting. representative research sample consisted of 4,098 high school students of the Czech Republic. the basic set represents 348,678 adolescents, of which approximately 86,796 attend four-year, six-year and eight-year high schools. the research sample consists of approximately 5% of the basic set. Hypothesis. Based on previous findings, research hypothesis predicted impact of impulsivity on abuse of psychoactive substances, bullying and delinquency. Statistical analysis. Linear regression analysis (Enter) was used to determine impact of impulsivity (SIDS) on VRCHA questionnaire variables. Results. Impulsivity is a significant predictor of bullying (R²=0,059), abuse (R²=0,089), and delinquency (R²=0,137) among adolescents. Study limitation. the study operates exclusively with one variable as a predictor of risk behavior. For more complex investigations, other significant predictors need to be induced into the model.
