Abstract

Faults in the power system cause inconvenience in the transmission and distribution networks. Faulty conditions occur due to many reasons both internally and externally. Lightning strikes, cyclones, overheating, fire dangers, destruction of electrical devices, failure of power system components owing to deteriorated equipment, and human errors are only a few of the reasons. These faults in the power distribution network are unpredictable and can cause a reduction in system reliability that can result in exorbitant repairs, loss of productivity, blackout to customers, and even loss of life. The paper does not address any detection methods, but a study of the simulation of symmetrical fault, asymmetrical fault, load switching, capacitor switching, and high impedance faults in the radial distribution network and the analysis is done in Matlab/SIMULINK 2020. The waveforms obtained during single line to ground fault, the line-to-line fault, double line to ground fault, the triple line to ground fault, high impedance fault, load switching, and capacitor switching are presented. Abstract

Motor Imagery- Brain Computer Interface (MI-BCI) is known to be a recent blooming technique since it acts as non- muscular channel that helps for disabled people for communication. A exact and trustable MI-BCI system needs the extraction of enlightening and accurate features because it is a communication link among the wired brain and an external device. A brain computer interface, or BCI, plays a crucial role in human beings, particularly disabled persons. BCI is one in which various brain functions are analyzed or controlled with the help of computers (controllers). Along with-it EEG signals could be utilized to study the brain activity and also to diagnosis of diseases like neurological disorder, Parkinson's disease. EEG signals can be processed and the features can be extracted for the dimensionality reduction with the help of various techniques which includes PCA, Fast Fourier Transformation, Wavelet Transformation. These extracted features can be classified using classifiers such as SVM, K – Nearest neighbors, Neural network and few other methods. Now a days, the role of deep learning (DL) technique has had aowing impact on Motor imaginary-EEG-based Brain Computer Interface and data set has a vital role in all applications. Here in this paper, we have reviewed the recent papers that applied Physio net dataset to analyze and evaluate electroencephalogram (EEG) signals for various applications which contains 64 EEG channels and 109 subjects executing diverse tasks. Abstract

Water conservation is the world's most spoken and written topic in recent times, coupled with global environmental phenomena like Global warming and climate change. There has been increased efforts to curtail unnecessary use of water for irrigation purposes. Drip irrigation solves only a portion of this problem. The real necessity today revolves around creating a smart system that is independent of human interference and human judgment. This work aims to establish a consensus between both by calculating a parameter known as Evapotranspiration (ETo). The standard Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO)-56 Penman-Monteith (PM) equation is taken as a reference for calculating the ETo value. This equation requires several meteorological inputs for estimating reference evapotranspiration (ETo). This work aims to define the model of evapotranspiration estimation that best adapts to the region of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Here atmospherically parameters were fed into the Penman-Monteith equation and the ET predicted by the empirical model is considered as target and this was used to train the ANN model. The best results are tabulated through this work and their wavelet family is recommended for the Coimbatore region alone. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In the past decades, wavelet transforms are widely employed for characterizing the electroencephalogram (EEG) signals for automatic diagnosis of epileptic seizure. But few vital issues like the classification of epileptic seizure types from normal EEG signals has not yet been benefited with wavelet transforms. Hence, in this paper, the two major types of wavelet transform, namely discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and wavelet packet decomposition (WPD) are employed for the automatic diagnosis of the epileptic seizure and its types. The publicly available KITS EEG database consisting of three groups namely, normal, focal epilepsy and generalized epilepsy are utilized in this work. Four experimental cases namely (i) normal-generalized epilepsy, (ii) normal-focal epilepsy, (iii) normal-focal-generalized and (iv) normal-epilepsy are used to investigate the proposed approach. Further, this paper attempts to identify the best wavelet function from the commonly used seven wavelet families and the level of decomposition required to analyse the EEG signals. The nine statistical features are extracted from the wavelet coefficients and fed into the support vector machine (SVM) classifier. From the experimental result it was found out that the DWT with rbio1.1 attained the highest classification accuracy for all the experimental cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In this paper, two efficient dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are prepared using natural dyes extracted from Acalypha Godseffia and Epipremnum Aureum plant leaves. Characterization of these two dyes using UV visible spectroscopy and the study on surface morphology of ITO plates coated with dyes is carried out. DSSC prepared with a dye extracted from Epipremnum Aureum under standard irradiation conditions showed the electrical characteristics: VOC = 0.77 V, JSC = 7.58 A/cm2, Jm = 6 mA/cm2, Vm = 0.56 V, ff = 0.576, and ɳ = 3.362%. The extract from Acalypha Godseffia showed interesting performance: VOC = 0.77 V, JSC = 9.21 mA/cm2, Jm = 7.95 mA/cm2, Vm = 0.55 V, ff = 0.61656, and ɳ = 4.372%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
