4. The Use of Two Newly Established Redlich-Kister Finite Differences with KSOR Method in a Numerical Solution of One Dimensional Telegraph Equations.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a numerical method to approximate the second order one dimensional linear hyperbolic telegraph equation which is based on two newly established second-order Redlich-Kister Finite Differences (RKFD) discretization scheme whose first two derivatives are used to obtain the second order RKFD approximation equation. This approximation leads to a linear system of the proposed problem where it will be solved using the Gauss-Seidel (GS) and Kaudd Successive Over Relaxation (KSOR) iterative methods. Then, three model examples are included to demonstrate the capability of the iterative methods considered for solving the proposed problem. In a numerical test problem, the performance for all numerical methods is shown by focusing on the number of iterations, execution time and maximum norm at five different mesh sizes. As results show, the KSOR method is found to be a better method in approximating the exact solution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

8. Redlich-Kister finite difference solution for two-point boundary value problem by using MKSOR iteration.

Abstract

In this study, two-point boundary value problems (BVPs) have been considered and discretized by using the second- order Redlich-Kister Finite Difference (RKFD) discretization scheme in order to get a large-scale and sparse linear system. In the process of obtaining the linear system, firstly we propose the second-order RKFD discretization scheme and then discretize all derivative terms of the proposed problems for the derivation of the corresponding second-order RKFD approximation equation. Due to the generation of a large-scale linear system, the iterative methods namely Gauss-Seidel, Kaudd Successive Over Relaxation and Modified Kaudd Successive Over Relaxation (MKSOR) iterative method had been chosen in this study to get the Redlich- Kister solution. For the sake of comparison, these iterative methods have been tested for solving three examples in which all numerical results obtained have been recorded based on three measurement parameters such as number of iterations (Iter), execution time (Time) and maximum error. The combination of MKSOR iteration method with RKFD discretization scheme was found to be superior compared to other iterations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In this study, the Two-point Explicit Group Successive Over Relaxation (2-EGSOR) iterative method is used to solve a system of linear equations generated from the discretization of system of second kind Fredholm integral equations. The discretization process is done by using quadrature scheme. The formulation and implementation of proposed iterative methods are also presented. Then numerical experiments are carried out onto three test problems to verify the effectiveness of the Gauss-Seidel (GS), Successive Over Relaxation (SOR) and 2- EGSOR methods. The numerical results shown that the 2-EGSOR iterative method with quadrature scheme is more efficient compared to GS and SOR methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
