Background: Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) is a rare, aggressive variant of squamous cell carcinoma with high stage presentations and poor outcomes. It is especially difficult to differentiate BSCC with an adenoid cystic pattern from high grade adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) using small biopsies. Case presentation: We describe different clinicopathological, immunohistochemical, and ultrastructural findings of BSCC (n=2) and ACC (n=1) of the uterine cervix. Despite similar histopathologic features, BSCC had significantly higher cellular atypism and distinct squamous differentiation, and showed diffuse immunoreactivity to P16 and P63, but non-specific pattern for S100, p53, and CD117 compared with ACC, which showed selective peripheral/internalized positivity for P63 and S100 in myoepithelial cells, and diffuse expression of P53 and P16. High risk Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) types (types 16 and 56) were identified in BSCC, but not in ACC. However, BSCC had relatively undifferentiated cellular characteristics and ACC showed occasional true ductal differentiation with luminal microvilli on ultrastructural studies. Conclusions: p16 overexpression is not a reliable surrogate marker of HPV in relation to differentiated basaloid SCC from high-grade ACC. Useful tools to distinguish a ‘basaloid carcinoma of the cervix’ should be accompanied by HPV analysis and immunostaining patterns for P63 and S100.

Fuel cells recombine water from H-2 and O-2 thereby can power, for example, cars or houses with no direct carbon emission. In anion-exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs), to reach high power densities, operating at high pH is an alternative to using large volumes of noble metals catalysts at the cathode, where the oxygen-reduction reaction occurs. However, the sluggish kinetics of the hydrogen-oxidation reaction (HOR) hinders upscaling despite promising catalysts. Here, the authors observe an unexpected ingress of B into Pd nanocatalysts synthesized by wet-chemistry, gaining control over this B-doping, and report on its influence on the HOR activity in alkaline conditions. They rationalize their findings using ab initio calculations of both H- and OH-adsorption on B-doped Pd. Using this "impurity engineering" approach, they thus design Pt-free catalysts as required in electrochemical energy conversion devices, for example, next generations of AEMFCs, that satisfy the economic and environmental constraints, that is, reasonable operating costs and long-term stability, to enable the "hydrogen economy."

Nanocrystals of group 5 tetradymites M2X3 (where M = Bi and Sb, X = Se and Te) are of high technological relevance in modern topological nanoelectronics. However, there is a current lack of a systematic understanding to predict the preferred nanocrystal morphology in experiments where commonly-used equilibrium thermodynamic models appear to fail. In this work, using first-principles DFT calculations with a rationally-extended ab initio atomistic thermodynamics approach coupled to implicit solvation models and Gibbs-Wulff shape constructions, we demonstrate that this absence of predictive power stems from the limitation of equilibrium thermodynamics. By re-tracing and carefully addressing with a more realistic chemical potential definition, we illustrate this shortcoming can be overcome and afford a more rational route to size-engineer and shape-design highly-functional group 5 tetradymite nanoparticles for targeted applications.

Transitional cell metaplasia (TCM) of the uterine cervix and vagina is typically seen in patients with adrenogenital syndrome with high serum androgen levels and in those under androgen treatment as well as in some peri/postmenopausal women. Considering that TCM occurs in patients with increased serum androgen levels, a microenvironment with altered sex hormones might be involved in the urothelial-like differentiation observed in TCM. To investigate a histogenetic role of androgen in TCM development, we compared the distribution patterns and intensity of androgen receptor (AR), estrogen receptor (ER), GATA3 (a transcription factor involved in androgen regulation), Ki-67, and AKR1C3 (an enzyme involved in androgen biosynthesis) expression in normal exocervical mucosa in young women (n = 25), senile atrophy (n = 23), and TCM (n = 29). In TCM, AR, ER, AKR1C3, and GATA3, expression was stronger and significantly increased upward into the intermediate and superficial layers compared with the senile atrophic mucosa and normal mucosa in young women. The epithelial layer in TCM is thicker than that in senile atrophic mucosa, although both conditions may occur in the same age group. Proliferation in TCM was significantly lower than that in young women but slightly higher than that in senile atrophy. Considering the conversion activity of AKR1C3, thicker epithelial layers in TCM compared with those in senile atrophy might be due to increased conversion of androstenedione to testosterone via increased AKR1C3 activity, increased conversion of testosterone to 17β-estradiol by aromatization, and AR activation.

Gold nanoparticles supported on reduced TiO 2 (110) surfaces are widely used as catalysts for oxidation reactions. Despite extensive studies, the role of oxygen vacancies in such systems remains elusive and is controversially discussed. Combining ab initio molecular dynamics simulations with methods originally developed to describe defects in semiconductor physics we study how the electronic charge originally located at the vacancy modifies the charge on the cluster. Despite differences resulting from the employed level of density functional theory (namely semilocal/GGA, GGA + U, and hybrid functionals), we consistently find that the Au clusters remain either neutral or acquire a positive charge. The intuitively expected electron transfer from the oxygen vacancy to the gold cluster can be safely ruled out. Analyzing these findings, we discuss the role of the oxygen vacancy in the bonding between Au clusters and support and the catalytic activity of the system. © 2019 American Chemical Society.

For materials exhibiting spontaneous polarization, we show that the conventional scheme of passivation with pseudo hydrogen is unable to realize a charge-neutral surface. The presence of a net surface charge induces via Gauss’s law a macroscopic electric field through the slab and results in poor size convergence with respect to the thickness of the slab. We propose a modified passivation method that accounts for the effect of spontaneous polarization, describes the correct bulk limits and boosts convergence with respect to slab thickness. The robustness, reliability, and superior convergence of energetics and electronic structure achieved by the proposed method are demonstrated using the example of polar ZnO surfaces.

Removing artificial bands from the back side of surface slabs with pseudohydrogen atoms has become the method of choice to boost the convergence of density-functional theory (DFT) surface calculation with respect to slab thickness. In this paper we apply this approach to semipolar compound semiconductor surfaces, which have recently become attractive for device applications. We show that approaches employing saturation of dangling bonds by pseudohydrogen atoms alone are inadequate to properly passivate the surfaces, remove spurious surface states from the fundamental band gap, and achieve flat band conditions in the slab. We propose and successfully apply to technologically interesting semipolar wurtzite surfaces of III-N, III-V, and II-VI semiconductors a reconstruction-inspired passivation scheme that utilizes native anions to passivate cation dangling bonds and pseudohydrogen atoms to obey the electron counting rule and compensate for polarization-induced surface-bound charges. This scheme is generic and robust and can be straightforwardly implemented in DFT investigations of low-symmetry surfaces as well as in high-throughput and machine learning studies. © 2021 authors.

Context.— Papillary immature metaplasia (PIM) is a known papillary cervical lesion associated with low-risk human papillomavirus (LR-HPV). Objective.— To evaluate additional clinicopathologic features and the HPV genotypes of PIM and discuss the presumptive cell of origin. Design.— A total of 26 PIM cases were evaluated by p16INK4a, cytokeratin (CK) 7, and CK17 immunohistochemical stainings. Human papillomavirus genotyping was performed, by using HPV DNA Chip, HPV polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and real-time PCR. Results.— Histologically, PIM forms either a papillary mass (n = 21 of 26, 81%) or a slightly elevated/flat plaque (n = 5, 19%). All cases contain variable amounts of mucinous epithelia within the lesions. Koilocytosis was identified in 15 of the 26 cases (58%). Sixteen cases (61%) were associated with LR-HPV (types 6, 11, or 42), but 3 cases (12%) with high-risk (HR) HPV (16, 16/18, and 33), 2 cases (8%) with mixed LR- and HR-HPV (6/16 and 11/58), while 2 cases (8%) were negative, but p16INK4a immunostaining showed nonblock positivity in all cases. Eight (31%) had high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) in the adjacent mucosa, 4 (50%) of which showed direct continuity. Identical HPV subtypes were confirmed in separately microdissected cases from PIM and adjacent HSIL. Most lesions (n = 24, 92%) expressed CK17 (reserve cell marker) in a bottom-heavy pattern and CK7 (squamocolumnar junction [SCJ] marker) in a top-heavy pattern, while most cases of low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) were negative for both markers. Conclusions.— Our results suggest that PIM is a distinct subset of LSIL showing a productive HPV infection, but PIM involves the transformation zone and is proximal to SCJ, while LSIL is mostly from ectocervix or distal to the SCJ.

Phase ordering in the mixed-valence oxide Sb2O4 has been examined by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. We find that the ground-state total energies of the two phases (α and β) are almost degenerate and are highly sensitive to the choice of the approximation to the exchange correlation (xc) functional used in our calculations. Interestingly, with the inclusion of the zero-point energy corrections, the α phase is predicted to be the ground state polymorph for most xc functionals used. We also illustrate the pronounced stereochemical activity of Sb in these polymorphs of Sb2O4, setting an exception to the Keve and Skapski rule. Here, we find that the actual bonding in the α phase is more asymmetric, while the anomalous stability of the β phase could be rationalized from kinetic considerations. We find a non-negligible activation barrier for this α-β phase transition, and the presence of a saddle point (β phase) supports the separation of Sb(III) over a continuous phase transition, as observed in ...

A recent study suggested that SHP2 acts as a tumor suppressor during hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. Herein we examined whether SHP2 links the HBx–NF-κB pathway to EGFR signaling during HCC development. The overexpression of HBx or NF-κB led to increased SHP2 expression via NF-κB binding to the Shp2 promoter. EGF treatment induced ERK activation as well as the rapid assembly of SHP2, EGFR, and Gab1. Upon LPS stimulation, NF-κB–SHP2–ERK activation and phosphorylated STAT3 levels exhibited a negative correlation in vitro . By contrast, in patients with HBV-associated HCC, NF-κB–SHP2–ERK and IL-6–JAK–STAT3 pathway activity levels were concomitantly higher in adjacent non-neoplastic tissues than in HCC tissues. The immunohistochemical analysis of 162 tissues of patients with HCC revealed that SHP2 levels were significantly higher in non-neoplastic background tissues than in corresponding HCC tissues and considerably increased in background liver tissues with advanced fibrosis ( P < 0.001). SHP2 expression increased gradually from normal liver to chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and background liver with a dysplastic nodule, but was decreased or lost in dysplastic nodules and HCC. This is the first report to describe the existence of the HBx–NF-κB–SHP2 pathway, linking HBV infection to the EGFR–RAS–RAF–MAPK pathway in the liver. SHP2 depletion from the negative crosstalk between NF-κB and STAT3 accelerates HCC development.

Background Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) is a Wnt/ß-catenin pathway antagonist related to gastric cancer (GC) carcinogenesis. However, the prognostic role of combined DKK1 and ß-catenin expression in advanced GC (AGC) is not clear. Methods In total, 158 patients with AGC who underwent gastric resection were enrolled in this study. DKK1 and ß-catenin expression was evaluated in whole tumor sections by immunohistochemistry. The impact of an electrochemical environment on the thermodynamic stability of polar oxide surfaces is investigated for the example of ZnO(0001) surfaces immersed in water using density functional theory calculations. We show that solvation effects are highly selective: They have little effect on surfaces showing a metallic character, but largely stabilize semiconducting structures, particularly those that have a high electrostatic penalty in vacuum. The high selectivity is shown to have direct consequences for the surface phase diagram and explains, e.g., why certain surface structures could be observed only in an electrochemical environment.

Many recent studies have demonstrated that several known and unknown viruses infect many horticultural plants. However, the elucidation of a viral population and the understanding of the genetic complexity of viral genomes in a single plant are rarely reported. Here, we conducted metatranscriptome analyses using six different peach trees representing six individual peach cultivars. We identified six viruses including five viruses in the family Betaflexiviridae and a novel virus belonging to the family Tymoviridae as well as two viroids. The number of identified viruses and viroids in each transcriptome ranged from one to six. We obtained 18 complete or nearly complete genomes for six viruses and two viroids using transcriptome data. Furthermore, we analyzed single nucleotide variations for individual viral genomes. In addition, we analyzed the amount of viral RNA and copy number for identified viruses and viroids. Some viruses or viroids were commonly present in different cultivars; however, the list of infected viruses and viroids in each cultivar was different. Taken together, our study reveals the viral population in a single peach tree and a comprehensive overview for the diversities of viral communities in different peach cultivars.

Objective. Caveolin-1 (Cav-1), as the main component of caveolae, has complex roles in tumourigenesis in human malignancies. We investigated Cav-1 in primary and metastatic tumor cells of gastric cancer (GC) and its association with clinical outcomes. Methods. We retrieved 145 cases of GC who had undergone curative gastrectomy. The expression levels of Cav-1 was evaluated by immunohistochemistry, and its association with clinicopathological parameters and patient survival was analyzed. Results. High expression of Cav-1 protein of the GC in the stomach and metastatic lymph node was 12.4% (18/145) and 16.5% (15/91). In the multivariate analysis, tumoral Cav-1 protein in metastatic lymph node showed prognostic significance for relapse-free survival (RFS, HR, 3.934; 95% CI, 1.882–8.224; P=0.001) and cancer-specific survival outcome (CSS, HR, 2.681; 95% CI, 1.613–8.623; P=0.002). Among the GCs with metastatic lymph node, it remained as a strong indicator of poor prognosis for RFS (HR, 3.136; 95% CI, 1.444–6.810; P=0.004) and CSS (HR, 2.509; 95% CI, 1.078–5.837; P=0.032). Conclusion. High expression of tumoral Cav-1 protein in metastatic lymph node is associated with unfavorable prognosis of curative resected GC, indicating the potential of novel prognostic markers.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) involving the upper genital tract, including the endometrium, fallopian tubes, and ovarian surface, is extremely rare, with most patients described in single case reports.1-5 Its possible pathogenic mechanisms include 1) de novo carcinogenesis; 2) extensive squamous metaplasia (ichthyosis uteri) in the mucosa of the upper genital tract with subsequent malignant transformation; 3) endometrioid adenocarcinoma with predominantly squamous differentiation; and 4) mucosal spread from cervical SCC.6 Differentiating primary SCC arising in the upper genital tract from primary cervical SCC extending to the upper genital tract is clinically important for tumor staging and patient management, especially since the locoregional recurrence rate is higher and the disease-free survival rate is lower in cervical SCC patients with endometrial involvement than it is in patients without endometrial involvement.7 The diagnostic criteria for primary SCC of the endometrium include the absence of 1) coexisting endometrial adenocarcino adenocarcinoma; 2) a connection between endometrial SCC and the squamous epithelium of the cervix; and 3) a primary squamous lesion in the cervix, either in situ SCC or invasive carcinoma.8 We have found it difficult, however, to determine the primary sites of SCCs detected in a fallopian tube or ovary in patients who have undergone prior hysterectomy with insufficient histological examination of the uterine cervix at the time of surgery. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been associated with the development of cervical SCC, and p16INK4a, a surrogate marker for HPV infection, is consistently positive in HPV-associated cervical SCCs and precancerous squamous intraepithelial lesions.9 However, the cause of disease and the utility of p16INK4a expression and HPV DNA status have not been clearly determined in patients with primary SCC of the upper genital tract. To determine the utility of p16INK4a expression and HPV DNA status in identifying the primary tumor site, we compared these markers as well as the histologic findings in four patients with primary SCCs of the upper genital tract and in five patients with cervical SCCs extending to the mucosa of the upper genital tract.

We report an unusual case of 9.5-cm-sized embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma arose from a mediastinal mature teratoma in a 46-yr-old man. A man presented with chest trauma as a result of an accident at 10 September 2011. On chest X-ray, an anterior mediastinal mass was detected. To obtain further information, chest computed tomography (CT) with contrast enhancement was performed, revealing an anterior mediastinal mass. Complete surgical excision was performed and entire specimen was evaluated. Pathologic diagnosis was embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma arising in mature cystic teratoma. After surgical excision, two cycles of dactinomycin-based chemotherapy were performed. Lung metastasis was detected on follow up CT in September 2012, and wedge resection was performed. Pathological finding of the lung lesion showed same feature with that of primary rhabdomyosarcoma.

A fast and efficient way to calculate and generate an accurate surface energy database (of more than several million surface energy data points) for all bcc and fcc metals is proposed based on an effective pair-wise-potential model. The accuracy of this model is rigorously tested and verified by employing density functional theory calculations, which shows good agreement within a mean absolute error of 0.03 eV/atom. The surface energy database generated by this model is then visualized and mapped in various ways; namely, the surface energy as a function of relative orientation, a orientation-dependent stereographic projection (the so-called Wulff net), and Gibbs--Wulff construction of the equilibrium crystal shape, for comparison and analysis. The Wulff nets (drawn with several million surface energy data points) provide us with characteristic surface energy maps of these cubic metals. In an attempt to explain the surface energy anomaly in bcc Li, we demonstrate how our effective-pair-potential-derived Wulff net can clearly discriminate the strong influence of the second- and third-nearest-neighbor bonds on the high-Miller-index surface energetics of bcc Li.

Mucinous adenocarcinoma is an uncommon type of endometrial adenocarcinoma for which precursor lesions have yet to be clarified. During a review of noncancerous endometrial lesions in postmenopausal women, we found that mucinous endometrial glands showed variable degrees of epithelial changes that ranged from the formation of simple tubular glands to the formation of complex glands with papillary tufts, and some of the glands with papillary tufts were architecturally similar to low-grade mucinous adenocarcinomas. Based on histological similarities, we have postulated that mucinous metaplasia could be a precursor lesion of mucinous adenocarcinoma. To explain the pathogenetic significance of endometrial mucinous metaplasia, we analyzed the immunohistochemical expression of ER, PR, MKI67, PTEN, β-catenin, P16(INK4A), TP53, and PAX2 in 21 endometrial mucinous metaplasias, screened for KRAS (n=16) and PTEN (n=14) mutations, and compared expression patterns between samples with simple mucinous glands, those with complex glands having intraglandular papillary tufts, and endometrioid adenocarcinomas. Diffuse pulmonary lymphangiomatosis (DPL) is a rare disorder involving the intrathoracic lymphatic system from the mediastinum to the pleura. Although DPL is a lymphatic developmental abnormality and is pathologically benign, it has various clinical presentations and a progressive course. We recently studied a case of DPL in a 35-year-old man presenting with cough and hemoptysis with unilateral chylothorax. A chest computed tomography scan showed diffuse interstitial thickening along the peribronchovascular bundles and intralobular septae with pleural and pericardial effusion. Wedge resection of the left lower lung was performed to make a diagnosis. Microscopically, the lesion was characterized by variably sized and increased lymphatic channels of the interlobular septa and subpleural area. The cells lining the lymphatics were immunohistochemically positive for D2–40 and CD34. This patient is still alive without recurrent symptoms 13 months after beginning a low-fat medium-chain triglyceride diet and chemical pleurodesis.

Primary extragonadal germ cell tumors are rare and mostly occur in young men with predominance of nonseminomatous histology. We report an undescribed case of primary retroperitoneal dysgerminoma presenting as an adrenal tumor in a 17-year-old girl. Surgery was performed on a 10 × 9.5 cm sized adrenal gland tumor and the resected tumor showed unequivocal histological features of dysgerminoma. The diagnosis was confirmed by the tumor's germ cell immunophenotype. Postoperative ultrasonography, CT and PET over a 6-month period revealed no evidence of ovarian lesion. The patient is stable, but with a suspicious residual tumor after adjuvant chemotherapy.

Peach latent mosaic viroid (PLMVd) is a member of the genus Pelamoviroid in the family Avsunviroidae and infects peach trees. We de novo assembled a PLMVd genome from a peach transcriptome and identified 18 variants in a single peach cultivar, after sequencing 20 PLMVd genomes by Sanger sequencing.

The aim of this study is construction of a pathologic nomogram that can predict axillary lymph node metastasis (LNM) for each intrinsic subtype of breast cancer with regard to histologic characteristics in breast core needle biopsy (CNB) for use in routine practice. A total of 534 CNBs with invasive ductal carcinoma classified into 5 intrinsic subtypes were enrolled. Eighteen clinicopathological characteristics and 8 molecular markers used in CNB were evaluated for construction of the best predictive model of LNM. In addition to conventional parameters including tumor multiplicity (P < .001), tumor size (P < .001), high histologic grade (P = .035), and lymphatic invasion (P = .017), micropapillary structure (P < .001), the presence of small cell-like crush artifact (P = .001), and overexpression of HER2 (P = .090) and p53 (P = .087) were proven to be independent predictive factors for LNM. A combination of 8 statistically independent parameters yielded the strongest predictive performance with an area under the curve of 0.760 for LNM. A combination of 6 independent variables, including tumor number, tumor size, histologic grade, lymphatic invasion, micropapillary structure, and small cell-like crush artifact produced the best predictive performance for LNM in luminal A intrinsic subtype (area under the curve, 0.791). Thus, adding these combinations of clinical and morphologic parameters in preoperative CNB is expected to enhance the accuracy of prediction of LNM in breast cancer, which might serve as another valuable tool in determining optimal surgical strategies for breast cancer patients.

A first-principles description and prediction of brominated nanocrystals of Pd is presented. In particular, we conducted an extensive study of the adsorption behaviour of Br on various Pd surfaces (including both low and high Miller-index surfaces) as a function of its surface coverage. By coupling our calculated surface energies with ab initio (electrochemical) thermodynamics and the Gibbs–Wulff shape model, we find that the relative stability of the Pd surfaces is strongly modified by Br, allowing high Miller-index surfaces of Pd (namely the (210) surface) to become competitively favourable at moderate concentrations of Br. We also show that Pd nanoparticles assume a cube-like crystal shape at high concentrations of Br, exposing mainly the (100) facets with a Br surface coverage of 0.5 ML. This not only confirms and explains recent solution synthesis results, but also provides a quantitative atomic picture of the exposed surface facets, which is crucial in understanding the local surface chemistry of shape-controlled nanoparticles for better nanocatalyst design.

Zinc nitride (Zn3N2) is a promising candidate for optoelectronics applications due to its high electron mobility and high electrical conductivity. It is also thought that Zn3N2 can be used as a starting material to achieve p-type conductivity in ZnO-based oxide homojunctions. In this work, the electronic structure of bulk Zn3N2 is studied using density-functional theory (DFT) with different approximations to the exchange-correlation functional, ranging from (semi-)local functionals to the quasiparticle G0W0 approach. We predict a bandgap in the range of 0.9–1.2 eV, reconciling the scattered values reported in experiments, and a remarkably low work function (ionisation potential) of 4.2 eV for the (111) surface.

Primary extragonadal germ cell tumors are rare and mostly occur in young men with predominance of nonseminomatous histology. We report an undescribed case of primary retroperitoneal dysgerminoma presenting as an adrenal tumor in a 17-year-old girl. Surgery was performed on a 10 × 9.5 cm sized adrenal gland tumor and the resected tumor showed unequivocal histological features of dysgerminoma. The diagnosis was confirmed by the tumor's germ cell immunophenotype. Postoperative ultrasonography, CT and PET over a 6-month period revealed no evidence of ovarian lesion. The patient is stable, but with a suspicious residual tumor after adjuvant chemotherapy.

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a p-type semiconductor used in thin-film solar cells. To achieve high light-to-electricity conversion, annealing in the presence of CdCl2 is essential, but the underlying mechanism is still under debate. Recent evidence suggests that a reduction in the high density of stacking faults in the CdTe grains is a key process that occurs during the chemical treatment. A range of stacking faults, including intrinsic, extrinsic, and twin boundary, are computationally investigated to identify the extended defects that limit performance. The low-energy faults are found to be electrically benign, while a number of higher energy faults, consistent with atomic-resolution micrographs, are predicted to be hole traps with fluctuations in the local electrostatic potential. It is expected that stacking faults will also be important for other thin-film photovoltaic technologies.

Orbital solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) has recently been proposed as the encompassing terminology for hemangiopericytoma, giant cell angiofibroma (GCAF), and fibrous histiocytoma of the orbit. The lacrimal gland is a very rare location for both SFT and GCAF. A 39-year-old man presented with a painless left upper eyelid mass. An orbital computed tomography scan identified a 1.1 cm-sized well-defined nodule located in the left lacrimal gland. He underwent a mass excision. Histopathologic examination showed a proliferation of relatively uniform spindle cells with a patternless or focally storiform pattern. Dilated vessels were prominent, but angiectoid spaces lined with giant cells were absent. Floret-type giant cells were mostly scattered in the periphery. The tumor was immunoreactive for CD34 and CD99, but negative for smooth muscle actin and S-100 protein. This is the first Korean case of SFT of the lacrimal gland with overlapping features of GCAF, suggesting a close relationship between the two entities.
