Abstract

By analogy with the invariant Q-category defined by Scheerer, Stanley and Tanr\'e, we introduce the notions of Q-sectional category and Q-topological complexity. We establish several properties of these invariants. We also obtain a formula for the behaviour of the sectional category with respect to a fibration which generalizes the classical formulas for Lusternik-Schnirelmann category and topological complexity.

Abstract

This study tested an integrative model linking experiences of need frustration and need satisfaction with suicidal ideation through a risk-enhancing (via anxious-depressive symptoms) and a risk-reducing pathway (via positive cognitions) in adolescents. The generalizability of the model based on the clinical status of the participants was also explored. A matched sample of referred (n = 210) and non-referred (n = 210) adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years old completed self-report measures of psychological need-based experiences, suicidal ideation, positive cognitions, and anxious-depressive symptoms. Structural equation modeling was used to explore the proposed model. Mediation analysis showed that need frustration was positively associated with suicidal ideation through anxious-depressive symptoms, while need satisfaction was negatively associated with suicidal ideation through positive cognitions. Invariance analysis pointed to limited differences in the model associations as a function of clinical status. These initial findings suggest the relevance of consider need frustration and need satisfaction in explaining suicidal ideation. The integration of risk and protective factors and the study of the generalizability of the data across the clinical status of adolescents provide preliminary implications for the development of interventions to prevent suicidal ideation.

Abstract

We construct an explicit semifree model for the fiber join of two fibrations p: E --> B and p': E' --> B from semifree models of p and p'. Using this model, we introduce a lower bound of the sectional category of a fibration p which can be calculated from any Sullivan model of p and which is closer to the sectional category of p than the classical cohomological lower bound given by the nilpotency of the kernel of p^*: H^*(B;Q) --> H^*(E;Q). In the special case of the evaluation fibration X^I --> X x X we obtain a computable lower bound of Farber's topological complexity TC(X). Abstract

En este trabajo se presenta el diseño de un proyecto de investigación que cuenta con una doble finalidad. Por un lado, contribuir al conocimiento sobre las competencias y las necesidades de apoyo que presentan las familias con hijos adolescentes que padecen problemas de salud mental, tanto atendiendo al análisis de la literatura científica existente, como analizando las necesidades y las competencias que presentan este tipo de familias en nuestro contexto socio-cultural. Por otro lado, obtener la información necesaria para diseñar un programa de intervención destinado a apoyar y promover la parentalidad positiva en estas familias. De la información presentada se concluye que este proyecto se sitúa en consonancia con las recomendaciones nacionales e internacionales que instan al cambio desde modelos de la evaluación e intervención familiar centrados en el déficit hacia enfoques más positivos y capacitadores. Igualmente, se concluye que este proyecto puede representar un nuevo marco de intervención para la mejora de la calidad de vida de este colectivo que surge como fruto de un trabajo conjunto y coordinado que, mediante un enfoque multi-método y multi-informante, integra las aportaciones de los expertos, el conocimiento de los profesionales de salud mental y las vivencias y percepciones de los propios adolescentes y sus familias. This paper presents the design of a project with a twofold aim. Firstly, to contribute to the knowledge about the competences and support needs experienced by families of adolescents with mental health problems, both reviewing the available literature and studying the specific competences and needs experienced by these families in our context. Secondly, to obtain information to design an intervention programme to support and promote positive parenthood in these families. From the information presented can be drawn that this project is in accordance with the national and international recommendations that urge a change from deficit models to a strength-based perspective of family assessment and intervention. Likewise, the presented project provides a new intervention framework to improve the quality of life of these families. It resulted from a coordinated effort that, using a multi-method and multi-informant approach, integrates the contributions of experts, the knowledge and views of mental health professionals and the experiences and perceptions of adolescents affected by mental health problems and their families.

Abstract

La grabación 360º, cada vez más presente en el entorno audiovisual por la aparición del Metaverso como nuevo espacio de comunicación, está derivando hacia variaciones sustanciales en la forma de narrar y producir contenidos audiovisuales con respecto a las técnicas tradicionales. La posibilidad de sumergir al espectador en un entorno totalmente inmersivo en el que cada punto de vista de atención es seleccionado por el propio espectador, implica un cambio de paradigma en el papel que ejerce el director o realizador como creador y narrador de los acontecimientos. El espectador elige su propio punto de vista para contemplar la escena narrada. El dominio de la tecnología es fundamental para llegar a la excelencia en la producción audiovisual. Profundizar e investigar todas las posibilidades técnicas de la grabación 360º antes de aplicarlo al mundo profesional es el objetivo en el que llevamos trabajando una serie de profesores adscritos en este proyecto desde el curso 2018-2019. El objetivo es, mediante el trabajo con alumnos a través de prácticas aplicadas a la experiencia real, diseñar un protocolo que permita planificar creaciones de grabación 360º tanto en lo relacionado con el vídeo como con el audio. Creemos que ese protocolo empieza a estar consolidad a tenor de los resultados conseguidos. Para ello, llevamos dos cursos colaborando con la profesora Dña. Teresa García Nieto, dentro del proyecto ‘Científic@s en prácticas’ mediante un convenio con el CSIC. En concreto, los proyectos de Innovación Educativa que lidera la profesora Nieto son el proyecto nº 262 Innova-Docencia (curso 2020-2021) y el Proyecto nº 189 (curso 2021-2022) titulado “Universidad y sociedad: comunicación, integración y colaboración con empresas e instituciones públicas y organizaciones no lucrativas. Abstract

This study tested an integrative model linking experiences of need frustration and need satisfaction with suicidal ideation through a risk-enhancing (via anxious-depressive symptoms) and a risk-reducing pathway (via positive cognitions) in adolescents. The generalizability of the model based on the clinical status of the participants was also explored. A matched sample of referred (n = 210) and non-referred (n = 210) adolescents aged between 12 and 17 years old completed self-report measures of psychological need-based experiences, suicidal ideation, positive cognitions, and anxious-depressive symptoms. Structural equation modeling was used to explore the proposed model. Mediation analysis showed that need frustration was positively associated with suicidal ideation through anxious-depressive symptoms, while need satisfaction was negatively associated with suicidal ideation through positive cognitions. Invariance analysis pointed to limited differences in the model associations as a function of clinical status. These initial findings suggest the relevance of consider need frustration and need satisfaction in explaining suicidal ideation. The integration of risk and protective factors and the study of the generalizability of the data across the clinical status of adolescents provide preliminary implications for the development of interventions to prevent suicidal ideation.

44. Development of an Experimental Device to Study High Temperature Oxidation

Abstract

Abstract: An experimental device was designed and constructed to study the oxidation behaviour of steel. The device consists in a special chamber mounted within the frame of a servo-hydraulic testing machine holding the sample being studied. The atmosphere within the chamber can be controlled to be either inert or oxidation by flowing either nitrogen or dry air: a flow of 14 Nl/min was used for replacing either atmosphere in less than 0.1 s. The sample of steel was heated up to the testing temperature by induction. The testing procedure was designed to be flexible enough for heating up and cooling down the sample without oxidation. The device allowed for scales that ranged from a few micrometers to close to 300 μm. The growth kinetics recorded in this work was found to agree with previous published data. It can be concluded that the present device allows for studying the behaviour of thin crusts of steel oxide, which are classified as tertiary and can damage the surface of the steel during rolling.

50. CDK down-regulation of homologous recombination by inhibition of the conserved Swi5-Sfr1 complex

Abstract

Resumen del trabajo presentado en el 2nd International Symposium Cell Division and Genome Dynamics, celebrado en Salamanca del 27 al 28 de Octubre de 2022, Meiotic recombination is initiated by a self-inflicted double strand break (DSB) that is consequently repaired by homologous recombination. To avoid defects in the meiotic products (gametes) and, therefore, in the offspring, DSBs must be accurately repaired and generate crossovers, providing the physical connection between homologous chromosomes that ensures their correct segregation in the first meiotic division. During the process, the search and invasion of an intact homologous double-stranded DNA template is performed by Rad51 and Dmc1 recombinases. There are several conserved auxiliary proteins that differently assist recombinases to execute the strand-exchange reaction. Among them, the Swi5-Sfr1 complex is one of the most relevant mediators. This complex binds Rad51, and Dmc1, presynaptic filaments and promotes interhomolog recombination by stabilizing the nucleofilament and enhancing the recombinase activity in vitro. Specifically, two positive charged regions within the N-terminus of Sfr1 are essential for the electrostatic interaction with Rad51 and its strand-exchange activity. Phosphorylation of several CDK sites surrounding these two regions could modulate Swi5-Sfr1 function by counteracting the Rad51-binding positive-charged residues and, eventually, this would prevent its interhomolog recombination promoting role. Here, we found that Sfr1 is indeed phosphorylated by CDK at late prophase of meiosis in fission yeast. The two regions described in N-terminal Sfr1 could actually be important for Swi5-Sfr1 regulation, since the CDK phosphomimetic mutant decreases interhomolog recombination measured as crossover and gene conversion events. In addition, a sfr1 mutant that abolishes the Rad51-binding positives charges also impairs recombination. Moreover, a moderate increment of Cdc2 (CDK) and Cdc13 (main cyclin for chromosome segregation), increases recombination with the sister chromatid, what might reflect the inhibition of Swi5-Sfr1. These results propose a CDK regulatory mechanism for the Swi5-Sfr1 complex, where Sfr1 phosphorylation at late prophase could reduce its activity on Rad51 presynaptic filaments, avoiding late interhomolog intermediates just prior to chromosome segregations.
