This paper focuses on distributive uninorms, which induce structures of commutative ordered semirings. We will show that the second uninorm must be locally internal on $A(e)$, and will present a complete characterization of the structure of such uninorms.

Microwave quantum illumination with entangled pairs of microwave signal and optical idler modes, can achieve the sub-optimal performance with joint measurement of the signal and idler modes. Here, we first propose a testbed of microwave quantum illumination with an optical memory which is simulated with a delay line in the idler mode. It provides how much an input two-mode squeezing is necessary to compensate the loss of the optical memory, while maintaining quantum advantage over coherent state. When the memory is lossy, the input two-mode squeezing has to be higher through high cooperativity in the optical mode. Under the testbed, we propose a single-mode phase conjugate receiver that consists of a low-reflectivity beam splitter, an electro-optomechanical phase conjugator, and a photon number resolving detector. The performance of the newly proposed receiver approaches the maximum quantum advantage for local measurement. We investigate the non-equilibrium dynamics of the one-dimensional extended Hubbard model after interaction quenches. In strong-coupling regime with large on-site interaction, the ground states of this model with small and large nearest-neighbor interactions are in spin-density-wave and charge-density-wave phases, respectively. Combining twisted boundary conditions with the time-dependent Lanczos method, we obtain snapshots of the time-dependent single-particle spectrum after quenches. We find that for quench within the same phase, the single-particle spectrum becomes close to that of the quenched Hamiltonian immediately after the quench. While for quench across the critical point, the afterward evolution process depends mainly on the distribution of the initial state among the eigenstates of the quenched Hamiltonian. Quantum illumination is to discern the presence or absence of a low reflectivity target, where the error probability decays exponentially in the number of copies used. When the target reflectivity is small so that it is hard to distinguish target presence or absence, the exponential decay constant falls into a class of objects called monotone metrics. We evaluate monotone metrics restricted to Gaussian states in terms of first-order moments and covariance matrix. Under the assumption of a low reflectivity target, we explicitly derive analytic formulae for decay constant of an arbitrary Gaussian input state. Especially, in the limit of large background noise and low reflectivity, there is no need of symplectic diagonalization which usually complicates the computation of decay constants. First, we show that two-mode squeezed vacuum (TMSV) states are the optimal probe among pure Gaussian states with fixed signal mean photon number. Second, as an alternative to preparing TMSV states with high mean photon number, we show that preparing a TMSV state with low mean photon number and displacing the signal mode is a more experimentally feasible setup without degrading the performance that much. Third, we show that it is of utmost importance to prepare an efficient idler memory to beat coherent states and provide analytic bounds on the idler memory transmittivity in terms of signal power, background noise, and idler memory noise. It is important to find feasible measurement bounds for quantum information protocols. We present analytic bounds for quantum illumination with Gaussian states when using an on-off detection or a photon number resolving (PNR) detection, where its performance is evaluated with signal-to-noise ratio. First, for coincidence counting measurement, the best performance is given by the two-mode squeezed vacuum (TMSV) state which outperforms the coherent state and the classically correlated thermal (CCT) state. However, the coherent state can beat the TMSV state with increasing signal mean photon number in the case of the on-off detection. Second, the performance is enhanced by taking Fisher information approach of all counting probabilities including non-detection events. In the Fisher information approach, the TMSV state still presents the best performance but the CCT state can beat the TMSV state with increasing signal mean photon number in the case of the on-off detection. Furthermore, we show that it is useful to take the PNR detection on the signal mode and the on-off detection on the idler mode, which reaches similar performance of using PNR detections on both modes., Comment: 7+1 pages, 3 figures, close to the published version

The minimum time required for a quantum system to evolve to a distinguishable state is set by the quantum speed limit, and consequently influences the change of quantum correlations and other physical properties. Here we study the time required to maximally entangle two principal systems interacting either directly or via a mediating ancillary system, under the same energy constraints. The direct interactions are proved to provide the fastest way to entangle the principal systems, but it turns out that there exist mediated dynamics that are just as fast. We show that this can only happen if the mediator is initially correlated with the principal systems. These correlations can be fully classical and can remain classical during the entangling process. The final message is that correlations save energy: one has to supply extra energy if maximal entanglement across the principal systems is to be obtained as fast as with an initially correlated mediator., Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures

Identifying the three-dimensional (3D) crystal-plane and strain-field distributions of nanocrystals is essential for optical, catalytic, and electronic applications. Here, we developed a methodology for visualizing the 3D information of chiral gold nanoparticles with concave gap structures by Bragg coherent X-ray diffraction imaging. The distribution of the high-Miller-index planes constituting the concave chiral gap was precisely determined. The highly strained region adjacent to the chiral gaps was resolved, which was correlated to the 432-symmetric morphology of the nanoparticles and its corresponding plasmonic properties were numerically predicted from the atomically defined structures. This approach can serve as a general characterization platform for visualizing the 3D crystallographic and strain distributions of nanoparticles, especially for applications where structural complexity and local heterogeneity are major determinants, as exemplified in plasmonics., Comment: Sungwook Choi and Sang Won Im contributed equally to this work. Two-mode squeezed vacuum states are a crucial component of quantum technologies. In the microwave domain, they can be produced by Josephson ring modulator which acts as a three-wave mixing non-degenerate parametric amplifier. Here, we solve the master equation of three bosonic modes describing the Josephson ring modulator with a novel numerical method to compute squeezing of output fields and gain at low signal power. We show that the third-order interaction from the three-wave mixing process intrinsically limits squeezing and reduces gain. Since our results are related to other general cavity-based three-wave mixing processes, these imply that any non-degenerate parametric amplifier will have an intrinsic squeezing limit in the output fields., Comment: 6+6 pages, 4 figures

Out-of-distribution (OOD) detection is essential to handle the distribution shifts between training and test scenarios. For a new in-distribution (ID) dataset, existing methods require retraining to capture the dataset-specific feature representation or data distribution. In this paper, we propose a deep generative models (DGM) based transferable OOD detection method, which is unnecessary to retrain on a new ID dataset. We design an image erasing strategy to equip exclusive conditional entropy distribution for each ID dataset, which determines the discrepancy of DGM's posteriori ucertainty distribution on different ID datasets. Owing to the powerful representation capacity of convolutional neural networks, the proposed model trained on complex dataset can capture the above discrepancy between ID datasets without retraining and thus achieve transferable OOD detection. We validate the proposed method on five datasets and verity that ours achieves comparable performance to the state-of-the-art group based OOD detection methods that need to be retrained to deploy on new ID datasets.
