Objective: To discover the material substances of the numbing characteristics in Polygonatum Rhizoma. Methods: Polygonati Rhizoma from eight regions were processed by the "nine-steam-nine-bask" method, and its content changes of saponin, polyphenol and calcium oxalate crystal at different steaming times were determined. The degree change of numbing was determined by the cell hemolysis test and sensory properties, and a correlation analysis of numbing was conducted. Results: With the increase of steaming times, the contents of polyphenol and saponin in Polygonati Rhizoma from different regions were initially increased and then decreased, while the content of calcium oxalate crystal and hemolysis rate and the sensory score of numbing decreased gradually. The correlation analysis results indicated that there was a significant positive correlation (P＜0.05) or a highly significant positive correlation (P＜0.01) between the content of calcium oxalate crystal and the numbing degree. SEM results showed that the structure of calcium oxalate crystal was gradually destroyed after steaming, which coincided with the change of numbing. Conclusion: This research proves that calcium oxalate crystal may be the key substance for the numbing in Polygonatum Rhizoma, which can provide a scientific basis for the study of the numbing elimination technology of Polygonatum Rhizoma.

Background Nephronophthisis-related ciliopathies (NPHP-RC) have strong genotype and phenotype heterogeneity, and the transplantation strategy of Boichis syndrome is still controversial. Our purpose was to examine associations of genotype and phenotype in children with NPHP-RC and analyze the transplantation strategies of different phenotypes. Methods The records of children with NPHP treated at our center from 01/2018 to 03/2021 were retrospectively reviewed. Inclusion criteria were a diagnosis of NPHP, received kidney transplantation, and received whole exome sequencing (WES) or nephropathy gene panel testing. Results Twenty-nine children with NPHP were included. Nine children (31%) had NPHP1 mutations, and all presented with isolated nephropathy. Eighteen of 20 patients with non-NPHP1 mutations had compound heterozygous mutations, and 70% had extrarenal phenotype. Age at disease presentation (11.2 ± 1.94 years) and the development of kidney failure (12.4 ± 2.70 years) were later in children with NPHP1 mutations than those with non-NPHP1 mutations (5.2 ± 2.83 years and 5.7 ± 2.92 years, respectively). Four of six children with NPHP3 mutations were diagnosed with Boichis syndrome due to liver fibrosis. Isolated kidney transplantation resulted in good outcomes for patients with mild or moderate liver fibrosis without portal hypertension, while cholestasis was common postoperatively and could be resolved with ursodeoxycholic acid. Conclusions NPHP1 mutations are the most common in children with NPHP, and the phenotype of NPHP1 mutation is significantly different from that of non-NPHP1 mutation. For NPHP patients with mild to moderate liver fibrosis without portal hypertension, timely treatment of cholestasis could prevent the rapid progression of liver function damage after isolated kidney transplantation. The effect of 5-MeV electron accelerator irradiation of 400 kGy on the formic acid cycling separation of cellulose, lignin, and xylose from Triarrhena lutarioriparia (TL) were studied, and the enzymatic conversion rate and structural characteristics of TL cellulose were analyzed. For 400 kGy irradiated TL, the results revealed that the average purity of cellulose was 81.13% and the recovery of lignin and xylose were 28.68% and 10.16%, respectively, which were higher than those of the unirradiated sample. The recovery of cellulose, concentration of xylose, and purity of lignin increased with the increase in cycle times. The final concentration of xylose for pre- and post-irradiated TL were 31.35 mg/mL and 37.35 mg/mL, respectively, and the purity of lignin was more than 90%. Fourier transform infrared and X-ray diffraction results revealed that TL cellulose separated by formic acid were formylated and exhibited high crystallinity. The enzymatic conversion rate of TL cellulose was 54.30%–57.47% after hydrolysis for 120 h, this rate was considerably higher than that of TL. These results indicated that the formic acid recycling fractionation process could effectively separate TL lignocellulosic components, which could support its large-scale utilization.

In recent years, the advancement of photovoltaic power generation technology has led to a surge in the construction of photovoltaic power stations in desert gravel areas. However, traditional equal cross-section photovoltaic bracket pile foundations require improvements to adapt to the unique challenges of these environments. This paper introduces a new type of photovoltaic bracket pile foundation named the "serpentine pile foundation" based on the principle of biomimicry. Utilizing experimental data, numerical simulation technology was employed to comprehensively investigate the pullout resistance, compressive resistance, and horizontal bearing performance of the serpentine pile foundation. Comparative analysis with traditional square and circular pile foundations revealed the serpentine pile foundation's significant advantages in all performance indexes. The serpentine pile exhibits a significantly higher ultimate uplift bearing capacity of 70.25 kN, which is 8.56 times that of the square pile and 10.94 times that of the circular pile. This study not only offers valuable technical support for the construction of photovoltaic power plants in desert gravel areas but also holds great significance in advancing the sustainable development of the global photovoltaic industry.
