Background There are numerous patients with diabetes complicated with heart failure. Dapagliflozin is a new hypoglycemic drug that has been used for heart failure according to guideline recommendation, however, its mechanism of improving heart function has not been fully defined. Objective To study the effects of dapagliflozin on the expression of plasma miRNA-423-5p and cardiac function in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and chronic heart failure (CHF) . Methods Fifty patients with T2DM complicated with CHF admitted to the 960th Hospital of PLA from April 1 to November 30, 2021 were enrolled and randomly divided into dapagliflozin group (n=25) and control group (n=25) . Both groups received the same treatment for six months except that dapagliflozin group received dapagliflozin 10 mg/d per day, and the control group received other hypoglycemic drugs. They were compared to healthy physical examinees with normal cardiac function (healthy group, n=25) . Basic data of the patients were collected through the electronic medical record system, including age, sex, smoking history, hypertension, blood pressure level, body mass index (BMI) , blood lipid, blood glucose, creatinine (Cr) , amino-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide precursor (NT-proBNP) , alanine aminotransferase (ALT) , aspartate aminotransferase (AST) , NYHA class, results of cardiac color ultrasound and drug combination. Blood samples were collected for the detection of miRNA-423-5p. A six-month follow-up was given to the patients with the time of first administration of dapagliflozin after inclusion as the starting point, during which patients' cardiac function indices and miRNA-423-5p were measured and collected at the end of four weeks of treatment, and their cardiac function indices, blood pressure level, ALT, AST, and Cr were measured at six months of treatment. Pearson correlation analysis or Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between miRNA-423-5p expression level and cardiac function indices of the patients. Results After 6 months of intervention, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) , stroke output (SV) and left ventricular short-axis shortening rate (LVFS) in daglizin group were higher than those in control group, while left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) was lower than those in control group (P

Land use change monitoring is a common theme in achieving sustainable development, while research on ecological barrier transition zones is relatively scarce. This study quantitatively analyzes the characteristics and patterns of land use change in Western Jilin, located in the transitional zone between the northeast forest belt and the northern sand prevention belt, from 1990 to 2020. Land dynamic change index and transition matrix are used to quantify the rates and intensities, and conversions between different land use types over time, respectively. Geodetector is adopted to analyze the impact of 12 factors on 12 types of land use change, such as using the factor detector to quantify the influence of temperature on the conversion from cropland to unused land. The results indicate that from 1990 to 2020, there have been noticeable changes in the area of various land use types in western Jilin. However, the conversion types are relatively limited, mainly involving interchanges between cropland, grassland, unused land, and water bodies. The cropland has increased by 20% overall, but 16% of that increase occurred from 1990–2000. The woodland area has steadily increased at a growth rate of 5–8% from 2000–2020, aligning with sustainable development strategies. Water bodies and grasslands are undergoing continuous recovery, and a positive growth trend is predicted to emerge by 2030. The built-up land is steadily expanding. The influencing factors vary for different types of land-use change. In a short time, policy factors play a significant role in land use, such as the implementation of the "River-lake Connection Project", which has helped to reduce water-body fragmentation and enabled the stable recovery of water resources. However, in the long term, multiple topographic, climatic, and anthropogenic factors exhibit interactive effects in the land use change process in the area. Thermal catalytic oxidation (TCO) technology is one of the effective methods to remove formaldehyde. CeO2, known for its oxygen storage capacity (OSC), is a promising rare earth material for the thermal catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde. The oxidation mechanism of formaldehyde on the CeO2(110) surface was investigated by density functional theory (DFT). Herein, formaldehyde and oxygen could not be stably adsorbed on a stoichiometric CeO2(110) surface, which was verified by charge-density difference and PDOS analysis. The defective CeO2(110) surface strengthened the adsorption of formaldehyde and oxygen by filling oxygen vacancies and evolved the free oxygen into chemisorbed oxygen. Formaldehyde was difficult to dehydrogenate on stoichiometric or defective CeO2(110) surfaces without oxygen. The water-forming capacity of chemisorbed oxygen promoted the dehydrooxidation of formaldehyde. It not only greatly reduced the energy barrier for the rate-determining step in the formaldehyde oxidation process but also helped formaldehyde to complete a complete oxidation cycle pathway.
