Araştırmayla oyun tabanlı dil öğrenmenin İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen öğrencilerin dil öğrenmelerine ve dil öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyonlarına etkilerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yarı deneysel desen uygulanan araştırmanın çalışma grubunu özel bir üniversitede İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen 76 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın yürütüldüğü 10 haftalık süreçte deney grubunda (N=38) oyun tabanlı dil öğrenme programı, kontrol grubunda (N=38) geleneksel öğretim yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Deney grubundaki öğrencilerden öğretim süreçlerinin bir parçası olarak Life is Strange isimli oyunu oynamaları istenmiş ve haftada bir saat PCaRD teorisi ile uyumlu etkinlikler sınıfta yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel boyutunda veriler, dönemin başında ve sonunda bir başarı testinin (TOEFL ITP) ve ikinci dil motivasyonal benlik sistemi anketinin deney ve kontrol gruplarına uygulanmasıyla elde edilmiştir. Nitel boyutunda ise veriler, yarı yapılandırılmış form kullanılarak deney grubundan 7 öğrenciyle yapılan görüşmelerle elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre deney grubunun ve kontrol grubunun başarı testi puanları arasında ve ikinci dil motivasyonal benlik sistemi puanları arasında fark yoktur. Diğer yandan, katılımcıların oyun entegrasyonuna yönelik tutumlarının olumlu olduğu bulgulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, katılımcılar oyun oynamanın ve öğretim programında oyuna yer verilmesinin kelime ve günlük dile ait ifadeler başta olmak üzere yoğun dil girdisi sağladığını ve dil öğrenme sürecinde motivasyonlarını arttırdığını belirtmişlerdir. Anahtar Sözcükler: Oyun Tabanlı Dil Öğrenme, İkinci Dil Öğrenimi, İkinci Dil Motivasyonal Benlik Sistemi, PCaRD The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of a game-enhanced language learning intervention on language learning and on the development of L2 motivational self-system of EFL students. The study employed a quasi-experiment design with 76 EFL students at a private university. The experimental group (N=38) participated in a game-enhanced language learning program for 10 weeks, whereas the control group (N=38) received traditional instruction. Students in the experimental group were asked to play the game Life is Strange as a part of their instruction and classroom activities designed along the PCaRD were conducted an hour per week. For the quantitative data an achievement test (TOEFL ITP) and L2 motivational self-system questionnaire was implemented with both the experimental and control group at the beginning and end of the semester. The qualitative data were gathered from 7 students from the experimental group via semi-structured interviews. The findings of the study indicated that even though there was no significant difference between control and experimental group regarding both the achievement exam and L2 motivational self-system questionnaire, the participants had quite positive attitudes toward game integration. Overall, the participants suggested that game play and its integration provided them with a great amount of language input, especially vocabulary and daily expressions, and it was motivating for their language learning process. Yabancı dil öğrenimi günümüzde artık bir ihtiyaç olmaktan çıkmış neredeyse bir zorunluluk hâline gelmiştir. Dil öğreniminde kullanılan metotlar ve materyaller zaman içerisinde değişiklik gösterse de sözlükler hâlâ dil öğreniminde önemli bir araç olarak görülmektedir. Önceleri sınıflarda öğretmen eşliğinde yapılan dil eğitimi, teknolojinin gelişmesi, internet kullanımının artması, uzaktan eğitim gibi alternatif eğitim modellerinin ortaya çıkması ve bireysel öğrenmenin yaygınlaşmasıyla artık sınıfların dışında da yapılmaya başlanmıştır. Yabancı dil öğrenimindeki bu gelişmeler dil öğrencilerinin ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda yeni sözlük türlerini ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu sözlük türlerinden birisi de iki dillileştirilmiş sözlüklerdir. İlk iki dillileştirilmiş sözlük 1986 yılında yayımlanan İngilizce-İngilizce-İbranice sözlüktür. Tek dilli ve iki dilli sözlüklere alternatif olarak üretilen bu tür sözlükler için literatürde üç ayrı terim kullanılmaktadır: melez sözlük, yarı iki dilli sözlük ve iki dillileştirilmiş sözlük. Bu terimler genellikle birbirlerinin yerine kullanılırlar. İki dillileştirilmiş sözlükler tek dilli sözlüklerdeki tanım, tanıklama gibi bilgilerle iki dilli sözlüklerdeki kelimenin ana dildeki karşılığı olan çevirisini birlikte verirler. Bu tür sözlüklerde genellikle ilk önce madde başının hedef dildeki tanımı yapılır ve tanım ana dile çevrilir. Daha sonra bu tanımlar örnek cümlelerle desteklenir. Örnek cümleler bazen ana dile çevrilir bazen de olduğu gibi bırakılır. Yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenen öğrencilere yönelik A1 seviyesinde iki dillileştirilmiş bir sözlük henüz Türkiye'de yayımlanmamıştır. Bu çalışmada yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenen öğrencilerin sözlüklerden daha fazla yararlanmasını sağlamak amacıyla, yabancı dil öğrenimine önemli katkıları olduğu çeşitli çalışmalarla kanıtlanmış olan iki dillileştirilmiş bir sözlük modeli geliştirilmiştir. Bu model geliştirilirken Yunus Emre Enstitüsü tarafından hazırlanan `Yedi İklim` Türkçe öğretim setinin A1 seviyesi ders kitabının kelime listesi sözlüğe dahil edilmiştir. Kelime listesindeki madde başları ve bu madde başlarının kullanıldığı örnek cümleler İngilizce-İngilizce online sözlüklerde taranmış, daha açık ve anlaşılır olduğu düşünülen tanım ve örnek cümleler Türkçeye çevrilmiştir. İngilizce-İngilizce online sözlüklerdeki tanımların yeterli olmadığı durumlarda Türk Dil Kurumunun tanımlarına başvurulmuş ve TDK'nin tanımları Türkçeye çevrilmiştir. Bazı durumlarda ise hem tanımlarda hem de tanıklamalarda çevrimiçi kaynaklara başvurulmuştur. Bu model önerisi çalışması A1 seviyesindeki madde başları esas alınarak yapılmıştır. Dil yeterliliği arttıkça dil öğrencilerinin bilinmeyen kelimelerin anlamlarını bağlamdan çıkarabilme ve sözlüklere ne zaman bakmaları gerektiği konusundaki yetenekleri gelişmektedir. Yabancı dil yeterlilikleri az olan öğrencilerin ise sözlüklere bakma ihtiyacı yabancı dil yeterliliği çok olanlara göre daha fazladır. Bu çalışmada ortaya konulan sözlük modeliyle sözlük kullanma ihtiyacı daha fazla olan başlangıç seviyesi dil öğrencilerinin kelimelerin anlamlarını daha doğru anlamalarına ve bu kelimelerin bir bağlam içerisinde nasıl kullanıldığını görmelerine imkân sağlanarak bu alandaki bir eksiklik giderilmeye çalışılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: İki Dillileştirilmiş Sözlük, A1 Seviyesi, Yabancı Dil Öğretimi Today, foreign language learning is no longer a need but it has become a necessity. Although the methods and materials used in language learning have changed in the course of time, dictionaries have still been seen as an important tool in language learning. With the development of technology, the increase in internet usage, the emergence of alternative education models such as distance education and the spread of individual learning, language education which was previously conducted in classrooms under the guidance of teachers, has started to be carried out outside the classrooms. These developments in foreign language learning have introduced new types of dictionaries in accordance with the needs of language students. One of these dictionary types is bilingualized dictionaries. The first bilingualized dictionary was English-English-Hebrew which was published in 1986. Three different terms -semi-bilingual, hybrid and bilingualized- have been used in literature for such dictionaries that are produced as an alternative to monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. These terms are often used interchangeably. Bilingualized dictionaries present some information such as definition and example of use in monolingual dictionaries along with the translation equivalent of the word in L1 in bilingual dictionaries. In such type of dictionaries, an entry is first defined in L2 and then translated into L1. The definitions are elaborated with examples of use afterwards. Examples of use are sometimes translated into L1 and sometimes not. A bilingualized dictionary at A1 level for students learning Turkish as a foreign language has not been published in Turkey yet. In this study, a bilingualized model of dictionary has been developed in order for the students learning Turkish as a foreign language to benefit from these dictionaries more. In the development of this model, the word list of A1 level textbook of `Yedi İklim` Turkish language teaching set published by Yunus Emre Institute is included in the dictionary. The entries in the word list and the examples of use have been searched on English-English online dictionaries and the definitions and examples of use on online dictionaries which are thought to be clear and understandable have been translated into Turkish. If the definitions are thought to be insufficient on English-English online dictionaries, the definitions of Turkish Language Association are translated into Turkish. In some cases, other online sources have been used both in definitions and examples of use. The model suggestion is based on the entries at A1 level. As the language proficiency increases, language students' ability to infer the meaning and ability when to look up a word in the dictionary improves. The students with low level of language proficiency are relatively more liable to look up a word in dictionary. With the dictionary model presented in this study, it is tried to fill a gap in this field by enabling the beginning level language students who need to use the dictionary more to understand the meaning of the words more accurately and see how these words are used in a context.Keywords: Bilingualized Dictionary, A1 Level, Foreign Language Teaching 324

Bu çalışma Konuşma Çözümlemesi (KÇ) kullanarak müfredata dayalı dil sınavlarının oluşturulmasına, daha belirgin olarak madde inceleme (Mİ) aşamasına etkileşimsel bir bakış açısı getirmektedir. Türkiye'de bir devlet üniversitesinin İngilizce hazırlık okulunda gerçekleşen Mİ oturumlarının video kayıtlarından (25 saat) oluşan bir veritabanı kullanılarak, İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak öğreten öğretmenlerin öğrencileri için hazırlanmış olan dil sınav sorularını sınavcı ile birlikte etkileşim yoluyla nasıl inceledikleri araştırılmıştır. Sınavcı ise okulun sınav biriminde görevlendirilmiş öğretmenlerden birisidir ve sınavı hazırlayan kişidir. KÇ ilkeleri doğrultusunda verinin ilk analizi etkileşimlerin daha çok problemli maddelere odaklandığını ve bunların tekrarlayan üç aşamadan oluştuğunu göstermiştir; (1) problemi belirleme (PB), (2) değişiklik önerme (DÖ), ve (3) değişikliği gözden geçirme (DG). Yapılan mikro-analizler ortaya çıkan bu üç aşamanın genel yapısal düzeni için modeller sağlamış, sınav maddesine yönelik karşılıklı anlaşılabilirliği ve ortak karar vermeyi sağlayan yaygın etkileşimsel eylemleri ortaya çıkarmıştır. Öğretmenlerin ayrıca sınav maddelerini işbirliği içinde inceleyip düzeltirken konuşma yoluyla çeşitli sınav hazırlama ilkelerine yönelim gösterdikleri bulunmuştur. Buna ek olarak, katılımcıların Mİ görevinde ortak sorumluluk ve eşit katılımını gösteren açık kanıtlar olmasına rağmen etkileşimler katılımcıların kurumsal rol dağılımına bir yönelim sergilemiştir. Bu çalışmanın dil sınavlarına ve öğretmenler arasında gerçekleşen kurumsal konuşmalara yönelik yapılmış KÇ çalışmalarına katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir. Ayrıca bu çalışma dil sınavı oluşturma alanı, İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak öğreten öğretmenlerin mesleki yeterlilikleri ve ikinci dil öğretmen yetiştirme programları için uygulamalar sunmaktadır. This study brings an interactional perspective to the construction of syllabus-based language tests and the stage of item reviewing (IR) in particular by using Conversation Analysis (CA). Drawing on a corpus of video-recordings of IR sessions (25 hours) in an English preparatory school at a state university in Turkey, it investigates how EFL teachers review language test items prepared for their students in and through interaction with the item writer who is one of the teachers assigned in the testing office of the school. Following the principles of CA, the initial analysis showed that the interactions mainly focused on the problematic items and they were made up of three recurring phases; (1) problematizing the item (PI), (2) suggesting a change (SC), and (3) reviewing the change (RC). The micro-analysis generated models for the overall structural organization of these emerging phases and revealed recurring interactional actions that led to mutual understanding and joint decision-making about the test item. The teachers were also found to display an orientation to various testing principles in and through talk as they collaboratively reviewed and revised the test items. Additionally, the interactions showed an orientation to the institutional role distribution of the participants although there was clear evidence for their shared responsibility and equal engagement in the IR task. This study is expected to contribute to conversation analytic studies of language testing and teacher-to-teacher institutional talk, and has implications for language test construction, EFL teachers' professional competence, and L2 teacher education. 597

Sözcük öğrenimi, dil ediniminin en önemli ve zorlayıcı bileşenlerinden biri olduğundan dolayı büyük ilgi kabul etmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, hizmet öncesi İngilizce öğretmenlerinin sözcük öğrenimi konusundaki inanç ve sözcük öğrenme strateji tercihlerini incelemektir. Ayrıca, çalışma hangi sözcük öğrenme stratejilerinin en fazla ve en az sıklıkla hizmet öncesi İngilizce öğretmenleri tarafından kullanıldığını bulmaya amaçlamıştır. Pamukkale Üniversitesi'nde 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında bu sorulara cevap bulmak için 340 hizmet öncesi İngilizce öğretmenleri ile nicel bir metodoloji uygulanmıştır. Katılımcılar Pamukkale Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi İngiliz Dili Eğitimi Bölümüne devam etmekteydiler. Verilerin toplanmasında 5 puanlık Likert ölçeği olarak tasarlanmış bir anket kullanılmıştır. Nicel bulgular SPSS, versiyon 24 ile analiz edilmiştir. Cevapların analizi katılımcıların çoğunluğunun sözcük öğreniminin önemli olduğuna ve dil becerilerinin geliştirilmesinde faydalı olduğuna inandığını göstermektedir. Katılımcılar ayrıca, yüksek frekanslı sözcükleri öğrenmenin düşük frekanslı sözcükleri öğrenmekten daha önemli olduğuna katıldılar. İngilizce öğrenim kaynaklarının rolü konusunda konuşan katılımcılar, İngilizce TV programlarını izlemenin yeni sözcükler edinmek için yararlı olduğuna ve bilgisayar oyunları, şarkılar, filmler ve TV dizileri, web siteleri ve sosyal medyanın sözcük edinimi için yararlı olduğuna kuvvetle katıldılar. İngilizce TV programlarını izlemenin, anadiliyle İngilizce pratik yapmanın ve dil becerilerine entegre ederek yeni sözcükler öğrenmenin yararına olan inanç, katılımcılar tarafından kuvvetle kabul edildi. Katılımcılar aynı zamanda cep telefonu uygulamalarının sözcük bilgisini geliştirmek için faydalı buldular. Katılımcılar aynı zamanda İngilizceyi ana dilde konuşanlarla pratik yapmanın ve yeni öğrenilen sözcükleri çok pratik yapmanın faydalı olduğuna inandılar. Katılımcılar roman ve dereceli kitap okumanın ve İngilizceyi sınıf arkadaşları ile pratik yapmayı sözcük kapasitesini geliştirmede yararlı buldular. Bu bağlamda, yeni sözcükler dil becerileri ile bütünleştirilerek öğrenilmeli ve katılımcılar yeni sözcüğün anlamını bilmedikleri takdirde, anlamını içerikten tahmin etmenin daha iyi olduğuna inandılar. Çalışmamız İngiliz dili eğitimi ile ilgili metinler okuyarak akademik sözcük öğrenmenin mesleki gelişim için önemli olduğunu ve işitme ve hafıza becerilerinin sözcükleri iyi öğrenmek için önemli olduğunu ortaya koydu.Diğer taraftan, katılımcılar sözcük öğrenme stratejilerini kullanmayı tercih ettikleri görünmektedir. En sık kullandıkları sözcük öğrenme stratejileri belirleme stratejileri gibi görünürken bilişsel stratejiler en az kullanılan stratejilerdir. Örnek verirsek, sözcüğün anlamını bağlamdan tahmin etme (belirleme), anlam için bir sınıf arkadaşı isteme ve öğretim elemanından yeni sözcüğün bir bağlamda (sosyal) kullanmasını isteme, bir sözcüğün telaffuzunu sesli ve dikkatli bir şekilde okuma ve bir sözcüğü eş anlamlısı / zıt anlamlısı ile bağlama ve sözcüğün anlamını kişisel bir deneyime (hafızaya) bağlamak, bir sözcüğün sözlü olarak tekrarlanması ve derste (bilişsel) yeni bir sözcük hakkında not alınması, İngilizce TV dizileri, filmler, yeni yayınlar izlemek, İngilizce şarkıları dinlemek ve yeni sözcükler edinmek için akıllı telefon uygulamalarını kullanmak (meta-bilişsel), en çok tercih edilen sözcük öğrenme stratejileri olarak gösterilebilir. Vocabulary learning has received great attention for second language acquisition since it is one of the most important and challenging components of language acquisition. The aim of the study was to investigate the beliefs of pre-service English teachers on vocabulary learning and their preferences in vocabulary learning strategies. The study also aimed to find out on which vocabulary learning strategies are employed the most and the least frequently by the pre-service English teachers. A quantitative methodology was conducted in 2017-2018 academic year with 340 pre-service English teachers to find answers to these questions. The participants were attending the Department of English Language Teaching, Faculty of Education, Pamukkale University. A questionnaire which was designed as 5-point Likert-scale was used to collect the data. The quantitative findings were analysed using SPSS, version 24. The analysis of the responses shows that the majority of the participants believes that vocabulary learning is essential and beneficial for developing language skills. The participants also agree that learning high frequency words is more important than learning low frequency words. Speaking for the role of English language learning sources, the participants seem to agree strongly that it is useful to watch English TV programs to pick up new words, and that computer games, songs, movies and TV series, web sites and social media are beneficial for vocabulary acquisition. The beliefs on the benefit of watching English TV programs, practicing English with native speakers and learning new words by integrating them with language skills were strongly agreed by the participants. The participants also find beneficial to use mobile applications to develop vocabulary learning. The participants also believe that it is useful to practice English with native speakers to improve the knowledge of vocabulary and to make a lot of practice of newly learned words. The participants also find reading novels and graded readers and practicing English with classmates beneficial to develop vocabulary capacity. To this end, new words should be learned by integrating them with language skills and the participants agree that it is better to guess a new word in a context if they do not know the meaning of the new word. Our study revealed that learning academic words by reading ELT-related texts is essential in their career development, and that a good hearing ability and memory skill are important to learn vocabulary well. On the other hand, the participants seem to prefer using vocabulary learning strategies. The vocabulary learning strategies they most commonly use seem to be determination strategies whereas the cognitive strategies are the least commonly used ones. To exemplify, guessing the word's meaning from context (determination), asking a classmate for meaning and asking the instructor to use the new word in a context (social), studying the pronunciation of a word aloud and carefully and connecting a word to its synonym and antonym and connecting the word's meaning to a personal experience (memory), verbal repetition of a word and taking notes about a new word during lesson (cognitive), watching English TV series, movies, newscasts, listening to English songs and using smartphone applications to pick up new words (meta-cognitive), can be shown as the most commonly preferred vocabulary learning strategies. 119

Sözlü geri bildirim stratejileri dil öğretimi alanındaki en karmaşık konulardan biridir ve önceden planlanamadığı için anında verilmesi gereken sınıf içi kararlarındandır. Öğretmen yetiştirme programları bazı derslerinde sözlü geri bildirim stratejilerini tanıtmasına rağmen, araştırmalar yeni göreve başlayan öğretmenler kadar deneyimli öğretmenlerin de bu stratejilere özyansıtma uygulamalarının eksikliği nedeniyle hakim olmadığını göstermektedir. Bir çok araştırma özyansıtma uygulamalarının etkilerini ortaya koymuştur, ancak sözlü geri bildirim stratejileri hakkında yansıtıcı düşüncenin etkilerini araştıran sadece bir kaç çalışma bulunmaktadır. Yakın dönemde Türkiye'de İngilizce öğretmen adaylarıyla bir çalışma yürütülmüştür. Öğretmen adaylarına sözlü geri bildirim stratejileriyle ilgili çevrimiçi bir eğitim verilmiştir ve adayların bu stratejiler üzerine yansıtıcı düşünebilmeleri için akran gözlem programı uygulanmıştır. Yapılan bu araştırma da sözlü geri bildirim stratejileri üzerine eğitim ve akran gözlemleri içeren bir yansıtıcı eğitim programının etkilerini bulmayı hedeflemektedir. Veri 123 İngilizce öğretmen adayından ön test, son test, eğitim öncesi ve eğitim sonrası yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar, öz ve akran yansıtıcı düşünme formları ve yansıtıcı günlükler aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Sonuçlar katılımcıların sözlü geri bildirim stratejileri hakkındaki düşüncelerinin çoğunun yansıtıcı eğitim programı sonucunda değiştiğini göstermiştir. Birtakım sınırlılıklarına rağmen, bu araştırma yansıtıcı uygulamaların İngilizce öğretmen adaylarının çeşitli sözlü geri bildirim stratejileri hakkında farkındalığının artması ve farklı durumlar için uygun stratejiler kullanmaları açısından önemlidir. The provision of oral corrective feedback is one of the most complicated issues in language teaching and among the in-class decisions which cannot be planned beforehand and thus have to be made instantly. Although pre-service teacher education programs introduce oral corrective feedback strategies in some courses, the research shows that novice as well as experienced language teachers are not aware of those strategies due to the lack of reflective practices. Many studies have demonstrated the effects of reflective practices; however, there are only a few studies investigating the effects of reflection about oral corrective feedback strategies. Recently a research study in a Turkish context was carried out with pre-service EFL teachers who were provided with an online training program about oral corrective feedback strategies and reflected on them through peer observation. The current research study also aims to discover the effects of a reflective training program about oral corrective feedback strategies with face-to-face input sessions and peer observations. The data were collected from 123 pre-service EFL teachers through a pre-test, post-test, pre training semi-structured interviews, post training semi-strucured interviews, self- and peer reflection papers and reflective journals. The findings reveal that the majority of the participants' beliefs about oral corrective feedback strategies changed after the reflective training program. Despite a few limitations, the research proves to be significant as it demonstrates reflective practices could help pre-service EFL teachers become more aware of various oral corrective feedback strategies and use appropriate strategies for different situations. 238

Bu araştırmanın amacı 556 lise öğrencisinin keşfetme ve pekiştirmek için en sık ve en az kullandığı kelime öğrenme stratejilerini belirlemek ve öğrencilerin kullandığı stratejilerin yaş, sınıf düzeyi, okul türü ve yaş değişkenlerine göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğini araştırmaktır. Çalışma için gerekli olan veri Ankara'daki Anadolu lisesi, özel lise ve fen lisesi türlerindeki okullarda Schmitt (1997) tarafından hazırlanan Kelime Öğrenme Stratejileri Anketi (VLSQ) aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Keşfetme ve pekiştirme stratejilerinin yanı sıra bu stratejilerin alt kategorileri de betimleyici olarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmacı toplanan verileri ayrıca yaş, sınıf düzeyi, okul türü ve yaş değişkenlerine göre çıkarımsal olarak analiz etmiştir. Veri analizleri önemli sonuçlar göstermektedir. This study investigates the vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs) employed by 556 high school students to identify the most and least frequently used discovery and consolidation strategies. The study further investigates whether there is any difference between VLSs used with respect to gender, grade level, school type and age. To these ends, the researcher collected data through an adapted version of Schmitt's (1997) Vocabulary Learning Strategies Questionnaire (VLSQ) administering it in different types of schools, Anatolian high school, Private high school and Science high school. The researcher analyzed both discovery and consolidation strategies, including their sub-categories descriptively. The researcher also analyzed the collected data inferentially with reference to gender, grade level, school type and age. The analysis of the data yielded significant results. 213

Bu çalışmanın amacı İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak öğreten İngilizce öğretmenlerinin internet tabanlı seminerler üzerine algılarını araştırmaktır. Bu nicel çalışmanın katılımcılarını, Ankara, Türkiye'de bulunan bir vakıf üniversitesinin İngilizce hazırlık okulunda çalışan 78 öğretim görevlisi oluşturmaktadır. İnternet üzerinden doldurulan anketin maddeleri Venkatesh, Morris, Davis ve Davis (2003) ve Gasket (2002)'den uyarlanmıştır. Veriyi analiz etmek için betimsel istatistik ve çıkarımsal istatistik kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları, katılımcıların daha önceden internet tabanlı seminer kullanım deneyimleri, daha fazla mesleki deneyime sahip olmaları, yaşça daha büyük olmaları ve İngilizceyi ana dili olarak konuşup konuşmadıkları internet tabanlı seminerler üzerine algılarında anlamlı bir etkisi olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak öğreten öğretmenlerin internet tabanlı seminer kullanımında daha çok bilgiye ve deneyime ihtiyaç duyduğunu göstermektedir. Sonuçları genelleyebilmek ve literatürü destekleyebilmek için daha çok çalışmaya ihtiyaç vardır. The aim of this study was to investigate the perceptions of English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers on the use of webinars in teaching EFL and for professional development purposes. This quantitative study was conducted with 78 participants at an English language school at a foundation university in Ankara, Turkey. The items of the online questionnaire were adapted from Venkatesh, Morris, Davis, and Davis (2003) and Gasket (2002). Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The results indicated that prior webinar experiences, having more years of teaching experience, older age, and being a native or non-native English speaker significantly affected teachers' perceptions. The implications of this study indicate that EFL teachers need more input and experience in using webinars. Further research is needed to lend more support to the literature to generalize the findings. 122

Bu çalışma, İngiliz dili ve edebiyatı lisan öğrencilerinin okuma çemberi tekniği aracılığıyla akademik söyleme sosyalleşmesini incelemeyi amaçlamıştır. Bu hedefe ulaşmak için Türkiye'de bir vakıf üniversitesinde çalışan İngiliz dili ve edebiyatı öğretim üyelerinin beklentileri ve yine aynı kurumda eğitim gören birinci sınıf lisans öğrencilerinin deneyimleri mercek altına alınmıştır. Çalışmada veriler öğretim üyeleriyle ve öğrencilerle yapılan sözlü mülakatlar; öğrencilerin okuma çemberlerindeki tartışmaları, bu tartışmalarda kullandıkları rol kağıtları ve yansıtıcı düşünme günlükleri aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Tüm nitel bulgular Boyatzis'in (1998) tematik analizi kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir.Bulgulara göre İngiliz dili ve edebiyatı öğretim üyeleri lisans öğrencilerinden bir okuma kültürü ve edebi metinleri da iyi anlayabilmelerini sağlayan stratejiler geliştirmelerini beklemektedir. Ancak öğrenciler; eğitim geçmişleri, İngilizce dil bilgisi seviyelerinin yetersiz olması, metinlerdeki tarihi ve kültürel referanslara aşina olmayışları ve ağır ders yükleri nedeniyle bu beklentileri karşılamakta zorluk çekmektedir. Bu bağlamda okuma çemberlerinin kullanımı öğrencilerin akademik söyleme sosyalleşebilmelerine belirli seviyede katkıda bulunmuştur.Bu sonuçlara bakıldığında, çalışma mevcut literatürü şu açılardan desteklemektedir: İngiliz dili ve edebiyatı lisans öğrencileri akademik söylem topluluğuna sosyalleşmek için edebi metinleri anlamak amacıyla İngilizce dil becerilerini geliştirmenin yanında aynı topluluğun değer ve uygulamalarını da öğrenmelidir. Bu süreçte okudukları metinler, akranları ve İngiliz dili ve edebiyatı öğretim üyeleri önemli roller oynamaktadır. This study aimed to examine the academic discourse socialization of undergraduate English language and literature (ELIT) students through literature circles. In this respect, the researcher explored the expectations of ELIT faculty members and experiences of first-year undergraduate ELIT students who were studying at a foundation university in Turkey. The data were collected through interviews with ELIT faculty members and students, and students' literature circle discussions, role sheets and reflective journals. All the qualitative data were analyzed using Boyatzis' (1998) thematic analysis.The findings of the study pointed out that in order to socialize into ELIT academic discourse, faculty members expect undergraduate students to develop a culture of reading and strategies to study literary texts better. However, the students faced challenges in meeting these expectations due to their educational background, low level of English language proficiency, lack of familiarity with the historical and cultural references, and heavy course loading. In that sense, using literature circles facilitated students' socialization into the ELIT academic discourse community to a certain extent.This study is in line with the existing literature in reaching the following conclusions: undergraduate ELIT students not only need to improve their English language skills to make sense of the language used in literary texts but also gain an understanding of the values and practices of the ELIT academic discourse community. During this process, texts, peers and ELIT faculty members play key roles as socializing agents. 159

Bu çalışma bir devlet üniversitesinin İngilizce hazırlık okulunda sene tekrarı yapan öğrencilerin nedensel boyutlarını, ve başarı veya başarısızlığa yaptıkları nedensel atıfları incelemektedir. Çalışmada karma yöntemli sıralı açıklayıcı desen kullanılmış ve veri, önce nicel sonra nitel olmak üzere, iki aşama halinde toplanmıştır. 254 öğrencinin nedensel boyutlarını ve başarı veya başarısızlığa yaptıkları nedensel atıflarını içeren nicel veri CDS II ve LAAS aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Ayrıca 24 öğrenci ve 8 öğretmenden yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme aracılığıyla detaylı ve derinlemesine nitel veri toplanmıştır. Nicel veri analizi için SPSS (20.0) programı, ve nitel veri için Atlas.ti programı kullanılarak içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Bulgular öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğunun hem İngilizce Yeterlilik Sınavı'nda (İYS) hem de genel olarak İngilizce öğrenmede, cinsiyet ve mezun olunan lise türü fark etmeksizin, kendilerini başarısız bulduklarını, ve başarı veya başarısızlıklarını uyumsuz bir yükleme tarzını işaret eden dışsal ve kişisel olarak kontrol edilemeyen sebeplere atfetme eğiliminde olduklarını ortaya koymuştur. Hem uyumlu hem uyumsuz yükleme tarzına sahip olan öğrenciler dışsal kategoride başarısızlıklarını en çok okulla ilgili olmak üzere sınavla, aile ve sosyal hayatla ilgili sebeplere atfederken, içşel kategoride psikolojik ve mental sebeplere, çaba, strateji, motivasyon, ilgi ve bilgi eksikliğine, devamsızlık, sağlık problemleri, yaş faktörü ve yeteneksizliğe atfetmişlerdir. Öğretmenlerden elde edilen veri de öğrenci verisine benzerlik göstermektedir. Bulgulara dair çıkarımlar ve öneriler çalışmada sunulmuştur. This study investigates the causal dimensionality patterns and causal attributions of repeat level students at a preparatory school of a state university to their perceived success or failure. The study employed a mixed methods sequential explanatory design, and was conducted in two phases: a quantitative phase, followed by a qualitative phase. The quantitative data regarding the students' causal dimensionality and specific causal attributions to success or failure were collected through CDS II and LAAS from 254 students, respectively. The detailed and in-depth qualitative data were gathered via semi-structured interviews with 24 students and 8 teachers. The quantitative data were analyzed through SPSS (20.0) while the qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis by using ATLAS.ti 7 software. The findings revealed that a big majority of the students considered themselves unsuccessful both in English Proficiency Exam (EPE) and in learning English, irrespective of gender or type of high school they graduated from, and that they tended to attribute their success or failure mostly to external and personally-uncontrollable causes, indicating a maladaptive attributional style. Both maladaptive and adaptive students ascribed their failure to school-related causes most, followed by exam-specific causes, task difficulty, and family and social life-related causes in the external category, while they referred to psychological and mental causes, lack of effort and strategy, little motivation or interest, lack of knowledge, attendance and health problems, age factor and lack of ability in the internal group. Teachers came up with similar causes to those from their students. Implications and suggestions were provided for the given results. 186

Yabancılara Türkçe öğretimi adına yapılan çalışmalar uzun yıllar öncesine dayanmakla birlikte, bugün Türkiye'de birçok üniversite ve merkezde Türkçe öğrenen yabancı öğrencilerin sayısı hızla artmaktadır. Alanyazındaki akademik çalışmalar da bu gelişime paralel olarak artmaktadır. Fakat yapılan çalışmalarda çoğunlukla ders materyalleri, öğretim programları, müfredat, dil becerileri gibi konulara ağırlık verildiği görülmektedir. Öğrencilerin yanlış analizi konusu 1970lerden itibaren uygulamalı dilbiliminin önemli bir parçası kabul edilip o zamandan beri üzerinde çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. Yanlış analizleri çalışmaları öğretmenin öğrencinin gelişimini takip edebilmesi, alanda çalışan araştırmacıların dilin nasıl edinildiği ve öğrencilerin öğrenme stratejilerini belirlemesi ve öğrencilerin kendi yanlışlarından öğrenmesi açısından büyük öneme sahiptir. Ülkemizde Yabancılara Türkçe Öğretimi alanında tüm dil becerileri kapsayan yanlış analizleri üzerine çalışmalara ise pek fazla rastlanamamaktadır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de Türkçe öğrenen yabancı öğrencilerin dil becerilerinin yanlış analizi bağlamında değerlendirilmesinin yapılması hedeflenmektedir. Bu çalışmada method olarak nitel yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Çalışma 3 temel bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk olarak, yabancı dil öğretiminde yanlış nedir, yanlış ve hata arasındaki fark, yanlışların nedeni, çeşitleri, önemi ve düzeltilmesi, alan yazında konuyla ilgili var olan yaklaşım ve teoriler gibi konular hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Sonraki bölüm araştırmada kullanılacak olan verilerin araştırma yöntemine uygun olarak toplanması, elde edilen veriler üzerinde çalışılarak yanlışların tespit edilmesi, tanımlanması, açıklanması ve gerekli analizlerin yapılmasını kapsamaktatır. Researches/Studies on Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language have been done for long years and today the number of foreign students who have learnt Turkish has been rapidly increasing at universities and language institutions in Turkey. The academic studies in the related field have also been raised thanks to this progress. On the other hand, most of these studies have been focusing on teaching materials, curriculum design and language skills. There are not many research studies on learners' errors. Error analysis has been accepted as a crucial part of Applied Linguistics since 1970s and it has been worked on greatly since then. Studies on error analysis is really of a great significance in terms of providing the knowledge of how a language is acquired, identifying learning strategies of learners and learning by their own mistakes. It is neither common nor easy to find academic research studies in analysis of errors in Turkish Teaching as a Foreign Language in Turkey. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the language skills of the foreign learners who have learnt in the context of error analysis. Qualitative methods will be followed to collect data in this study.There will be three parts in this study; in the first part, information about the subjects covering theories and appraches in the related field, what error is in foreign language teaching, the differences between a mistake and an error, the reasons of errors, types, importance of them and error correction will be presented. The next part includes collecting the related data regarding the research method; identifiying, defining, explaining and analysing the learners' errors. Bu çalışma, ana dili Türkçe olan öğrencilerin sınıf dışında ne kadar aktif öğrenen olduklarını incelemektedir. Bu çalışmaya Türkiye'deki bir özel üniversitede okuyan 72 kadın ve 72 erkek, toplam 144 İngilizce hazırlık sınıfı öğrencisi katılmıştır. Çalışma için karma yöntem seçilmiş ve 12 ana bölümlü 38 maddelik 5li likert anket ve açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan Hyland'in İngilizce Öğrenme Etkinlikleri Anketi adapte edilmiştir. Ayrıca, 14 öğrenciyle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yürütülmüş ve aynı öğrenciler 15 gün boyunca sınıf dışında yaptıkları etkinlikleri kayıt ettikleri günlükler tutmuşlardır. Sonuçlara göre, öğrenciler bir dereceye kadar özerkler ancak yine de kendilerini bu konuda geliştirmeleri gerekli. Anket sonuçlarına göre öğrencilerin en çok tercih ettiği etkinlikler; şarkı dinleme, bilgisayar ve telefon uygulamaları kullanma, video seyretme, internette gezinme, öğrencilerle konuşma, arkadaşlarla konuşma ve internette konuşmaktır. Tutulan günlüklere göre en çok tercih edilen etkinlikler film/dizi izleme, sınıf içi İngilizce kullanımı, yabancı arkadaşlarla konuşma, arkadaşlarla konuşma, kelime çalışma, kitap okuma, müzik dinleme ve öğretmenlerle konuşma çıkmıştır . Ayrıca, öğrenciler yapmak istedikleri pek çok etkinlik olduğunu ancak çeşitli sebeplerle yapamadıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Görüşme sonuçlarına göre, çoğu öğrenci İngilizcenin özellikle eğitim ve kariyer için önemli olduğunu belirtmiş, genellikle İngilizce konuşurken kendilerine güvendiklerini eklemişlerdir. Ek olarak, ana dili Türkçe olmayan öğrencilerle İngilizce konuşmak daha doğal geldiği için kendilerini daha rahat hissettiklerini vurgulamışlardır. Son olarak, ders dışı yaptıkları etkinlikleri hem eğlence hem de dil becerilerini özellikle geliştirme amaçlı yaptıklarını eklemişlerdir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Sınıf dışında öğrenen özerkliği, sınıf dışı etkinlikler, dil öğrenme motivasyonu, öğrenme stratejileri, ikinci dil öğrenimi This study examines Turkish speaking students' beliefs on how active learners they are outside the classroom. 144 English preparatory class students, 72 women and 72 men, who study at a private university in Turkey participated in this study. Hyland's English Learning Activities questionnaire, consisting of 12 main sections with 38 Likert type questionnaires and open-ended questions, has been adapted for the study. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 students, and the same students kept their daily record of activities outside the class for 15 days. The results show that the students are autonomous to some degree but there is still room for improvement. According to the survey results, the Most Preferred Activities (MPA) of the students are listening to songs, using computer and phone applications, watching videos, surfing on the internet, speaking with students, speaking with friends and chatting online. Based on the journals, the MPA are watching film/series, in-class English use, speaking with foreign friends, speaking with friends, working with words, reading books, listening to music and speaking with teachers. Students also stated that there are many activities they want to do, but they cannot do for various reasons. According to interview results, most students have stated that English is important particularly for education and career, and they added that they were confident in speaking English in general. However, they also have stressed that they felt more comfortable when speaking English to non-Turkish students mainly because it was more natural. Çalışmanın amacı, bilgisayar destekli yabancı dil öğretiminin bir alt dalı olan akıllı telefon ve tablet bilgisayarlarda kullanılmak üzere geliştirilmiş, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenimine yönelik uygulamaların; belirlenmesi, sınıflandırılması ve öğrenci kazanımlarının ele alınmasıdır.Bu amaç doğrultusunda çalışma, keşfedici desende tasarlanarak nicel verilerin kullanıldığı araştırma yöntemi uygulanmıştır ve iki önemli bölümden oluştur: 1) Sanal mağazalar (Google Playstore, Apple Appstore) üzerinden sunulan, yabancı dil olarak Türkçenin öğrenimine yönelik hazırlanmış uygulamaların/oyunların derlenmesi, bir yazılım değerlendirme çizelgesine göre sınıflandırılarak dil ve kültür içeriklerinin değerlendirilmesi. 2) Türkiye'de Türkçe öğrenen yabancı öğrencilerin bu uygulamalardan yararlanma durumlarının ve bu uygulamaların kazanımlarına ilişkin görüşlerinin belirlenmesi. Birinci bölüm verileri, 28.10.2018 tarihine kadar Android PlayStore ve IOS AppStore sanal mağazalarında yer alan ve en az bin kişi tarafından indirilmiş; yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenimi uygulamalar/oyunları belirlenmiş, belirlenen uygulamalar içerik analizi yöntemi doğrultusunda sınıflama çizelgesiyle sınıflandırılmış ve betimsel olarak sunulmuştur. İkinci bölüm verileri de Türkiye'de Türkçe öğrenen yabancı öğrencilere gerçekleştirilen anket formuyla elde edilmiştir.Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular; Nicel veriler SPSS 23 ve M. S. Excel yazılımlarıyla nicel veri çözümleme yöntemleri uygulanıp çözümlenerek sunulmuştur.Öğrencilerin yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenimine yönelik mobil uygulamaları kullanma ve mobil uygulamaların dil becerilerinin gelişimine katkı sağlaması konusuna olumlu yaklaşım içinde oldukları belirlenmiştir. Bu olumluluk durumu cinsiyet, yaş, Türkçe seviyesi ve okuyacakları bilim dalı değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılık göstermemiştir. The current study deals with identifying and classifying of the mobile Turkish learning applications developed to be used in smart phones and tablets as a sub-branch of computer-assisted foreign language learning and discussing their contributions to support linguistic skills of learners.The study was designed in exploratory pattern within the framework of its purpose and quantitative data were used as the research method. It consisted of two parts: 1) Collection of the applications/games intended for teaching Turkish as a foreign language, released in virtual stores (Google Playstore, Apple Appstore); classifying them according to a software assessment chart and evaluating their linguistic and cultural contents. 2) Identifying the use of such applications in terms learning Turkish by foreign students in Turkey and finding out their opinions about the outcomes of these applications. The data of the first section involving the applications/games for learning Turkish as a foreign language being available in Android Playstore and IOS AppStore virtual stores and that were downloaded by at least one thousand learners until 28/10/2018 were identified. These applications were classified by the evaluation chart in parallel with the content analysis method and were presented in a descriptive manner. The data of the second section were obtained through survey forms that were completed by the foreign students learning Turkish in Turkey.As the result of the study, the quantitative data obtained were presented after being analysed with SPSS 23 and M. S. Excel software.The study reveals that students have a positive approach to the use of mobile applications for learning Turkish as a foreign language and the development of their language skills through mobile applications. 128

Bu çalışma, temel olarak dönüştürülmüş sınıf modelinde İngilizce yeterliliği alt orta düzeyinde olan birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin yazma becerileri açısından algılarında ve onların yazma performanslarında önemli bir gelişme olup olmadığını tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma, aynı zamanda dönüştürülmüş model uygulamasında cinsiyete göre, hem öğrencilerin algılarında hem de yazma performanslarının iyileştirilmesinde anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığını tespit etmeye çalışmıştır. Bu amaçla, öğrencilere yazmayı öğrenmelerini sağlamak için on hafta süren dönüştürülmüş bir öğrenme modeli uygulandı. Model, öğretici videolardan ve çevrimiçi öğrenme materyallerinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmaya, Kafkas Üniversitesi İngiliz Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü'nden 101 öğrenci katılmıştır. Mevcut çalışmanın yaptığı araştırmaya cevap vermek için, öğrenciler yazmadaki performanslarını belirlemek için iki ön test ve son test ve bunun yanında algılarını incelemek için hem bir anket hem de öğrenci günlüklerini tamamladılar. Yazmadaki test puanları, SPSS üzerinde beşeri puanlama değerlendirme tablosu ile ölçülmüştür. Ayrıca, anket sonuçları da SPSS'de hesaplanmıştır. Öte yandan, öğrenci günlükleri dört kategori kodlama sistemi ile ölçülmüştür. Bulgular, öğrenciler lehine ortalama puanlar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılıklar göstermiştir. Aynı zamanda, elde edilen sonuçlar, yazma performansındaki bu gelişmenin, büyük ölçüde dönüştürülmüş sınıf modeli metoduna atfedildiğini göstermiştir. Öğrencilerin dönüştürülmüş sınıf modeline yönelik algılarının olumlu olduğu kanıtlanmıştır. Buna rağmen, dönüştürülmüş sınıf modelinde cinsiyet konusunda, öğrencilerin algıları ve yazma performanslarının gelişimi açısından anlamlı bir fark bulunamamıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Çevirilmiş Model, EFL Yazma Performansı, Öğrenci Algıları This study mainly aims to find out whether there is any significant change in freshman students' perceptions and any significant improvement in their writing performances whose proficiency of English is at the pre-intermediate level, in terms of writing skills in flipped classroom model. The study also sought to identify whether there is any significant difference in both students' perceptions and improvements of their writing performance in the flipped model implementation by gender. To end this, ten-week long flipped model learning was implemented to instruct students to learn writing. The model consisted of instructional videos and online learning materials. 101 students from English Language and Literature Department at Kafkas University in Turkey participated in the study. To answer the inquiry of the current study, they completed two pre-tests and post-tests to identify their performances in writing, and both a questionnaire and student diaries to examine their perceptions. The test scores in writing were measured with a human scoring rubric on SPSS. Also, the results of the questionnaire were computed on SPSS. On the other hand, student diaries were measured with a four-category coding system. Findings showed statistically significant differences between the mean scores in favor of the students. Furthermore, the results showed that this improvement in the writing performance is largely attributable to the flipped model method of learning. Students' perceptions towards the flipped model proved to be positive. However, no significant difference was found in terms of both the perceptions of the students and the improvement of their writing performances regarding the flipped classroom model by gender.Key Words: Flipped Model, EFL writing performance, Perceptions of Students 164

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, çoklu değerlendirme yaklaşımının Türkçe öğrenen yabancı öğrencilerin yazma becerisine etkisini belirlemektir. Çalışmanın evrenini, Türkçeyi yabancı bir dil olarak öğrenenlerin tümü oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemi ise, 2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında Gaziantep Üniversitesi Türkçe Öğretimi Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezinden (TÖMER) kontrol ve deney grubu olarak seçilen C1 düzeyi yirmi yedi öğrenci oluşturmaktadır.Araştırmada ölçme aracı olarak kompozisyon konuları, kişisel bilgi formu ve yazılı anlatım dereceli puanlama anahtarı kullanılmıştır. Ölçme süreci sonunda elde edilen verilerin analizinde kullanmak üzere belirlenen istatistiksel yöntem olarak t-testi, ANCOVA ve KOVARYANS analizi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda iki grup arasında deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklar ortaya çıkmıştır. Tüm çalışma genel olarak değerlendirildiğinde çoklu değerlendirme yaklaşımı çerçevesinde yapılan uygulamaların Türkçe öğrenen yabancı öğrencilerin yazma becerisi üzerinde anlamlı etkilerinin olduğu yapılan incelemeler sonucunda anlaşılmıştır. The main purpose of this study is to determine the effects of multiple evaluation approach on the writing skills of Turkish language learners. The population of the study is composed of all learners of Turkish as a foreign language. The sample is composed of 27 students who were selected as control and experimental group at the Gaziantep University Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) in 2017-2018 academic year.In the research, composition subjects, personal information form and written expression grade scoring key were used. t-test, ANCOVA and covariance analysis were used as the statistical methods for the analysis of the data obtained at the end of the data collection process. As a result of the analysis, statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in favor of the experimental group. When the whole study was evaluated in general, it became clear that the applications made within the framework of multiple evaluation approach had positive effects on the writing skills of foreign students who were learning Turkish as a foreign language. 108

Kelime bilgisi yabancı dil ediniminin temel kısmını oluşturmaktadır. Dil öğrenmenin ilk aşamalarında çok fazla kelime öğrenilmesi beklendiğinden, öğrenciler kelime öğrenmek için önemli ölçüde zaman ve çaba harcamalıdır. Eğitim alanında çeşitli yenilikçi araçlar ve yaklaşımlar ortaya çıktığı için, dijital yerliler için eğlenceli ve rekabetçi öğrenme ortamları sağlamak kaçınılmaz hale gelmiştir. Yeni kelimeleri tanıtmak için pratik bir araç olmasının yanında, dijital ve çevrim içi bilgi kartları öğrencilerin kolayca kelime edinmesini destekleyen çoklu ortamlı öğelerini, hemen geribildirimini ve oyun-gibi öğrenme ortamı sunmaktadır. Bu hususta, bu çalışma İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen öğrencilerin Quizlet kelime bilgi kartı aracı üzerindeki ilerlemesinin, onların kelime edinmesine ve kelimelerin aklında kalmasına yardımcı olup olmadığını araştırmayı amaçlamıştır. Araştırma öğrencilerin kelime bilgi kartı aracını kullanmaya yönelik fikirlerini de ortaya çıkarmayı hedeflemiştir. Veriler, 93 yabancı dili İngilizce olarak öğrenen alt-orta seviye Türk Anadolu Lisesi öğrencilerinden toplanmıştır. Nicel veriler, bir akademik dönem boyunca 3 hafta aralıklarla öğrencilerin kelime edinimi ve kelimelerin akılda tutulmasının ölçülmesi için kelime testleri aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Nitel veriler ise, öğrencilerin bilgi kartı aracı hakkındaki görüşlerini elde etmek için anket ve görüşmeler aracılığı ile sağlanmıştır. Bulgular, öğrencilerin Quizlet üzerindeki ilerlemesi ile kelime bilgisi testleri sonuçları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık olduğunu ve Quizlet' in kelime öğrenmek için kullanılabilir, kullanışlı ve eğlenceli olarak düşünüldüğünü göstermiştir. Vocabulary constitutes a fundamental part of language learning. Supposed to learn a majority of words in the early stages of language learning, learners must devote considerable amount of time and effort to learn vocabulary. As various innovative tools and approaches have emerged in the field of education, enabling entertaining and competitive learning environment for digital natives has become inevitable. Besides being practical tools to introduce and build new vocabulary, digital or online flashcards provide multimedia elements, immediate feedback and game-like learning atmosphere that encourage learners to learn vocabulary easily. In this regard, this study aimed to investigate whether EFL learners' progress on a vocabulary flashcard tool, Quizlet, helps them gain and retain vocabulary. The study also attempted to reveal learners' perception towards the use of vocabulary flashcard tool. Data was compiled from 93 Turkish pre-intermediate EFL level Anatolian High School students. Quantitative data was collected through vocabulary tests that were applied in three weeks intervals during an academic term to measure learners' gain and retention of vocabulary. Furthermore, qualitative data was collected from survey and interviews to obtain learners' perceptions towards the use of vocabulary flashcard tool. The findings showed that there is a statistically significant difference between learners' progress on Quizlet and test scores. It was obvious that vocabulary flashcard tool attributed to learners' vocabulary learning and Quizlet was considered as usable, useful, enjoyable for learning vocabulary in terms of survey results. 85

Bu çalışma, planlı biçime odaklanma modelinin, hedef biçimlerin öğrenilmesindeki etkinliğini araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma, planlı biçime odaklanma modelinin ve ders kitabındaki mevcut öğretim modelinin, öğrencilere 'Health' ünitesinin kazanımlarını sağlama yönündeki etkililiğini incelemiştir. Araştırmaya katılanlar, Muğla iline bağlı Milas'taki bir devlet ortaokulunda okuyan 5. sınıf öğrencileridir (n = 60). Araştırma, iki mevcut 5. sınıfın, deney ve kontrol grubu olarak atandığı yarı deneysel bir araştırmadır. Ön test, ilerleme başarı testi ve son testten toplanan veriler SPSS 17.0 kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Öğrencilere ünitenin kazanımlarını sağlamada hangi öğretim modelinin daha etkili olduğunu analiz etmek amacıyla, ilerleme başarı testi puanları ve grupların son test puanları bağımsız örnekler t-testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Uygulamanın zaman içindeki etkilerini ölçmek için tekrarlanan ölçümler ANOVA uygulanmıştır ve bu her iki öğretim modelinin de öğrencilerin ön-testten son teste kadar puanlarını yükseltmelerinde etkili olduğunu göstermiştir. Verilerin istatistiksel analizi, ilerleme başarı testi sonuçlarına göre planlı biçime odaklanma modelinin, ders kitabındaki öğretim modelinden anlamlı şekilde daha etkili olduğunu göstermiştir [t(58)= 2.67; p=0.010]. Son testin sonuçları iki grup arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark göstermediyse bile [t(58)= -1.058: p= 0.294]; son testte deney grubunun ortalaması (M=60.86), kontrol grubunun ortalamasından (M=55.86) daha yüksek çıkmıştır. This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of planned focus on form in the learning of the target forms. The study specifically examined the effectiveness of planned focus on form and the teaching model in the textbook on the 5th graders in terms of enabling learners to gain the objectives of the target unit 'Health'. The participants of the study were 5th grade learners (n= 60) studying at a state secondary school in Milas in the district of Muğla province. The research was a quasi-experimental research design in which two intact 5th grade classes were assigned as experimental and control groups. The data collected from pre-test, progress achievement test, and the post-test were analysed using the SPSS 17.0. The progress achievement test scores and post-test scores of the subjects were analyzed through independent samples t-test in order to analyze which instructional treatment was more effective in terms of enabling learners to gain the objectives of the unit. Repeated measures ANOVA test was also administered in order to measure the effects of the treatment in time, which indicated that both treatment types were effective in increasing the learners' scores from pre-test to post-test. The statistical analysis of data indicated that planned focus on form was significantly more effective than the regular instruction according to the results of the progress achievement test [t(58)= 2.67; p=0.010]. Even through the results of the post-test did not indicate a statistically significant difference between the two groups [t(58)= -1.058: p= 0.294]; the experimental group (M=60.86) performed better than the control group (M=55.86) in the post-test. 137

Konuşma doğal bir iletişim aracı olmakla birlikte, bir insanın herhangi bir dilde ne kadar yetkin olduğunun en açık göstergelerinden biridir. Yabancı dil olarak İngilizce öğrencilerinin, konuşma becerilerini geliştirebilmeleri için birinci ve ikinci dil olarak İngilizce öğrencilerine göre çok daha fazla çabalaması gerekir. Bu sebepten, yabancı dil olarak İngilizce öğrencileri yabancılaşma, kaygı, motivasyon eksikliği, katılıma duyulan isteksizlik ve gerek kendilerine gerek ise öğrenim ortamlarına karşı olumsuz algılara sahip olmaya daha yatkındırlar. Dolayısıyla, özgün iletişimsel aktiviteler bu belirti ve etkileri indirgemek amacı ile kullanılabilir. Bu çalışma, öğrencilerin sözlü sunumlar inançlarını ve sözlü sunumların öğrenci gözünden işlevlerini sekiz farklı değişken üzerinden incelemektedir: kaygı, isteksizlik, motivasyon, sözlü sunumlar algısı, öz algı, genel dil öğrenimi tecrübesi algısı, algılanan dil becerileri ve sözlü sunumlar tecrübesi. Katılımcılar, Fırat Üniversitesi Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulu'nda iki bağımsız sınıfta öğrenim gören ve araştırmacının gözlem ve rehberliğinde en fazla dört adet sözlü sunum gerçekleştirmiş 33 hazırlık öğrencisidir. Veriler, çalışma öncesi ve sonrası uygulanan iki öğrenci anketi, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme, özyansıtma formu ve akran değerlendirme formu vasıtasıyla toplanmış ve hem nitel hem de nicel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Ön anket sonuçları katılımcıların olumlu sözlü sunumlar algılarına sahip olduklarını göstermiştir. Lakin, yetersiz öğretim, uygulama safhasındaki hatalar ve öğretmen tutumları katılımcıları tam bir başarıdan alıkoymuş ve öğrenciler olarak tam gelişmiş bir benlik geliştirmelerini engellemiştir. Son veriler, denetimli sözlü sunumlardan sonra katılımcıların isteksizlik, algılanan dil becerileri, sözlü sunumlar tecrübesi ve olumsuz sözlü sunumlar algısı seviyelerinde anlamlı değişiklikler ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca, nitel veri analizi katılımcıların sözlü sunumlarından konuşma kaygısını aşmak amacıyla yararlandıklarını ve dört alanda dikkate değer ilerlemeler algıladıklarını işaret etmektedir: dil becerileri, dil öğrenme motivasyonu, kişisel gelişim ve topluluk önünde konuşma. English as a Foreign Language learners have a lot more to do to develop their speaking abilities when compared to first and second language learners since English is not necessarily a must in their daily lives. For that reason, EFL learners are likely to experience alienation, anxiety, lack of motivation, unwillingness to participate and have negative perceptions about themselves and the surrounding learning environment. Hence, authentic communicative activities may be used to lessen the symptoms and effects. This study investigated students' beliefs of oral presentations and explored their function on eight variables from a student point of view: anxiety, unwillingness, motivation, perception of oral presentations, self-perception, perception of general language learning experience, perceived language skills and experience of oral presentations. The participants were 33 preparatory class students in two different classes at Fırat University School of Foreign Languages, who performed up to four presentations under the researcher's supervision and guidance. The data were collected by means of pre and post student questionnaires, semi-structured student interviews, self-reflection and peer-evaluation forms; then analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The pre-survey indicated that the participants had positive beliefs of oral presentations as a result of their prior experiences. However, insufficient instruction, mistakes in implementation and teacher attitude had driven them away from a complete achievement and had prevented them from building a fully-developed 'self' as a learner. The post data revealed a significant change in the participants' levels of unwillingness, experience of oral presentations, perception of oral presentations and perceived language skills after the supervised oral presentations. Besides, the analysis of the qualitative data signified that the participants benefited from their oral deliveries to overcome speaking anxiety and perceived notable improvements in four categories: language skills, learning motivation, personal development and public speaking skills. Bu çalışma öğrencilerin otantik video kullanımı üzerine bakış açılarını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmaya, Türkiye'de bir vakıf üniversitesinde öğrenci olan toplam 185 kişi katılmıştır. Katılımcıların anadili Türkçe olup İngilizce seviyeleri Avrupa Dilleri Ortak Çerçeve Programınca B2- Orta Seviye Üstü olarak belirlenmiştir. Katılımcılara otantik video kullanımı ve video türü tercihleri, altyazı tercihi ve altyazı dili tercihlerini incelemek adına internet tabanlı bir anket çalışması uygulanmıştır. Anket uygulandıktan sonra elde edilen veriler SPSS 20 versiyonlu program aracılığıyla analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonrası elde edilen bulgular öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğunun her gün ya da haftada 3-5 kez olmak kaydı ile video materyaller izlediğini göstermiştir. Buna ilaveten, katılımcıların çok büyük bir çoğunluğu video materyalleri altyazı ile izlemeyi tercih ederken, altyazı dili anadilleri (D1) ya da ikinci dilleri (D2) olarak değişkenlik göstermektedir. Son olarak, memnuniyet derecelerine dayanarak, katılımcıların büyük çoğunluğu otantik video materyallerin öğrencilerin ikinci dildeki kelime bilgisi, dinlediğini anlama ve iletişim becerileri gibi konularda ikinci dil becerilerinin gelişimine katkısı olduğu gözlenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Otantik videolar, Altyazılı videolar, Dinleme becerileri… This study aims to investigate students' attitudes towards the use of authentic videos on the development of listening skills. 185 students who study at a private university in Turkey participated in the questionnaire. They speak Turkish as their first language and have B2- Vantage level of proficiency in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference. The participants were asked to fill in a web-based questionnaire in order to examine their opinions and gratification on the effects of watching authentic videos and their preferences for genres, subtitle preferences and subtitle language. Upon students' completing the questionnaire, the data were analyzed through SPSS version 20. The findings revealed that the majority of the participants get exposed to video materials 3-5 times a week or every day. In addition, while the participants mostly prefer to watch videos with subtitles, their preferences for the subtitle language can be either L1 or L2. Finally, based on their gratifications, they mostly claimed that authentic video materials help them improve their language skills in the second language in terms of certain aspects such as vocabulary knowledge, listening comprehension and conversation skills.Key Words: Authentic videos, Subtitled videos, Listening skills… 54

Geribildirim, ikinci dil yazma becerisi öğreniminde önemli bir yer teşkil etmektedir. Birçok eğitim kurumunda, öğretmen öğrenciler için tek geribildirim kaynağı olarak görülmektedir ancak öğrencilerin kendileri de geribildirim verme sorumluluğunu paylaşabilirler. Bu çalışmanın amacı, öğretmen ve akran geribildiriminin İngilizce'yi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen öğrencilerin yazma performansları üzerine etkilerini karşılaştırmaktır. Bu amaçla, bu deneysel çalışma 2017-2018 akademik eğitim yılında Türkiye'deki bir devlet üniversitesinde İngilizce hazırlık eğitimi alan iki grup öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Gruplardan biri, sekiz hafta boyunca birinci taslak ve ikinci taslak oluşturdukları dört farklı deneme yazısı için sadece öğretmenlerinden geribildirim alırken diğer grup sadece sınıf akranlarından geribildirim almıştır. Her iki gruptaki öğrencilere çalışmadan önce ve sonra olmak üzere bir ön-test, son-test, ve algı ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Bu niceliksel verilere ek olarak, her iki grup için de çalışmanın sonunda niteliksel yarı-yapılandırılmış bir görüşme yapılmıştır. Niceliksel veriler SPSS programı ile t-testler yardımıyla istatistiksel olarak incelenmiştir. Görüşmeler ses kaydı ile kayıt altına alınıp yazılı hale getirilmiştir ve olumlu, olumsuz ve çekimser cevaplara göre kodlanmıştır. Sonuçlar, akran geribildiriminin ikinci taslaklarda öğretmen geribildiriminden daha doğru düzeltmeler yazılmasına yardımcı olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, akran geribildirim grubu akran geribildirimine ve deneme yazısı yazmaya yönelik algılarını olumlu yönde geliştirmiştir. Son test skorlarına uygulanan bağımsız örneklem t-testi her iki grubun da yazma skorlarını bütünsel olarak geliştirdiklerini ve gruplar arasında istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir fark olmadığını göstermiştir, ancak bağımlı örneklem t-testi akran geribildirim grubunun çalışmanın sonunda daha fazla ilerleme sağladığını göstermiştir. Bu bulgular ışığında, geribildirimin öğrencilerin yazma becerilerini geliştirmede gerekli olduğu ve akran geribildiriminin öğretmen geribildirimine nazaran ikinci taslaklarda öğrencilerin daha doğru düzeltmeler yapmalarına yardımcı olduğu ve öğrencilerin algısını pozitif yönde etkilediği sonucuna varılabilir. Feedback constitutes an important part in learning L2 writing skill. In most educational contexts, the teacher is seen as the only source of feedback for students, but students themselves can also share the responsibility of providing feedback. The aim of this study is to compare teacher feedback and peer feedback in terms of their impacts on the written performance of tertiary level EFL students. For this end, this experimental study was conducted with two groups of students studying at the English preparatory school of a state university in Turkey during the 2017-2018 academic year. One of the groups received feedback only from their teachers, while the other group received feedback only from their peers for the four different essay tasks on which they produced a first draft and a second draft during the course of eight weeks. Students in both groups were also administered a written pre-test and post-test and a perception scale before and after the study. In addition to these quantitative data, a qualitative semi-structured interview was held with both groups at the end of the study. The quantitative data were analysed statistically with SPSS by conducting t-tests. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and coded according to the positive, negative and neutral answers. The results showed that peer feedback helped students produce more correct revisions than the teacher feedback group in second drafts. Also, peer feedback group changed their perceptions towards peer feedback and essay writing positively at the end of the study. The post-test results showed both groups increased their written scores holistically and there was not a statistically significant difference in the independent samples t-test, but a paired-samples t-test showed that peer feedback group increased their scores more than the teacher feedback group at the end of the study. In the light of these findings, it can be concluded that feedback is essential in developing students' written performances and peer feedback can be a more effective tool in improving students' correct revisions in second drafts and changing their perceptions positively than the teacher feedback. 153

Having a grasp of foreign language learners’ ebbs and flows patterns and factors of motivation, affective state and effort can be of noteworthy value. This study aims to explore and identify freshman EFL learners’ motivational trajectories, signature dynamics, and patterns and factors of ebbs and flows of motivation, affective state, and effort at the tertiary level through dynamic systems perspective. To generate the participant cases of this study, Retrodictive Qualitative Modelling was utilized to obtain the identification of salient learner archetypes among EFL learners at the particular research site. The data collection instruments were motigraph, individual semi-structured interview, bi-weekly reflective journal, follow-up unstructured interview, and final follow-up semistructured interview. The data were then obtained from eight cases representing different motivational, emotional, cognitive, and behavioural archetypes to gain insights from the motivational archetypes of learners who manage to generate a highly intense goal-directed motivation (Directed Motivational Currents- DMC), those who have properties similar to DMC, and those who have different motivational, emotional, cognitive levels but do not experience a DMC. Qualitative data analyses indicated that the trajectories, patterns, signature dynamics, and factors within their motivational systems of the participant cases’ motivation, affective state, and effort are unique and highly contextualized. However, both their state spaces are driven by only a certain number of attractor states and also the factors are also in a limited number. The results of this study were discussed in relation to dynamic theories of motivation. Both theoretical and pedagogical implications were provided to call for further research. Daha sonra, veriler, hedef odaklı motivasyon (DMC) yaşayan öğrencilere, hedef odaklı motivasyona benzer özelliklere sahip olanlara ve hedef odaklı motivasyon yaşamayan farklı motivasyonel, duygusal, bilişsel ve davranışsal seviyelere ve özelliklere sahip olan arketiplere ilişkin bilgi edinmek için farklı motivasyonel, duygusal, bilişsel ve davranışsal arketiplerini temsil eden sekiz vakadan elde edildi. Nitel veri analizleri, katılımcı vakaların motivasyonunun, duygusal durumunun ve çabasının yörüngelerinin, desenlerinin, motivasyon sistemlerindeki önemli dinamik elementlerin ve faktörlerin her biri, benzersiz ve bağlamsal olduğunu göstermiştir. Buna rağmen hem motivasyon sistemleri yalnızca belirli sayıdan oluşan elementler tarafından yönlendirilmektedir ve hem de öğrenci arketiplerinin yabancı dil motivasyonu, duygusal durumu ve çaba dalgalanma desenlerini etkileyen faktörler de sınırlı sayıdadır. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları dinamik motivasyon teorileri ile ilgili olarak tartışıldı. Daha fazla araştırma yapılması için hem teorik hem de pedagojik çıkarımlar anlatılmıştır.

Konuşma becerisi her dilin temel özelliklerinden birisidir. Bir dile hakim olmak birçokları tarafından o dili konuşabilmekle eşdeğer görülür. Ancak, İngilizce öğretilen çevrelerde, İngilizce öğrenenlerin konuşurken karşılaştıkları sorunları rapor eden oldukça çok çalışma vardır. İngilizce konuşmadaki problemlerin giderilmesi ve öğrencilerin konuşma performanslarının geliştirilmesi için iletişimsel teknikleri kullanmanın bir zorunluluk olduğu kabul edilmiştir. Rol yapma ve hikaye anlatma öğrencilerin konuşma becerilerini geliştirmek için İngilizce sınıflarında kullanılabilecek iki iletişimsel tekniktir. Bu araştırmada rol yapma ve hikâye anlatma tekniklerinin İngilizce dersinde kullanımının ilköğretim 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin İngilizce konuşma performansları, İngilizce konuşma kaygıları ve İngilizce iletişim kurma istekleri üzerindeki etkilerini ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada anadilleri Türkçe olup yabancı dil olarak İngilizce öğrenen 63 adet 7. sınıf öğrencisi yer almıştır. Bir devlet okulunda yer alan rastgele seçilmiş iki farklı 7. sınıf öğrencileri bu çalışmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Bu araştırmada, bir sınıfta beş hafta süren rol yapma etkinlikleri kullanırken, diğer sınıfta aynı süreçte hikâye anlatma etkinlikleri kullanılmıştır. Bu iki teknik kullanımının öğrencilerin İngilizce konuşma performansları üzerindeki etkilerini ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla, öğrencilerin konuşma performanslarını ölçmek için 30 adet fotoğraf kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerden bu fotoğraflarda gördüklerini sözel olarak İngilizce dilinde ifade etmeleri istenmiştir. Bu sözel ifadeler bir puanlama formuna göre değerlendirilmiş olup, öğrencilerin İngilizce konuşma ön test ve son test sonuçlarını oluşturmuştur. Ayrıca, bu çalışmada iki adet ölçek kullanılmıştır. İlk olarak Huang (2004) tarafından geliştirilip, Türkçe uyarlaması Balemir (2009) tarafından yapılan `Yabancı Dilde Konuşma Kaygısı Ölçeği` öğrencilerin İngilizce konuşma kaygılarını ve bu kaygıdaki değişimi ölçmek için çalışmanın başında ve sonunda uygulanmıştır. Aynı şekilde, McCroskey (1992)'nin geliştirdiği ve Çetinkaya (2005)'in Türkçe' ye uyarladığı `Yabancı Dilde İletişim Kurma Ölçeği` de çalışmanın başında ve sonunda uygulanmış olup, öğrencilerin İngilizce iletişim kurma istekleri ve bu istekteki değişimlerin gözlemlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular nicel veri analizi yöntemleriyle incelenmiştir. Nicel veri analizi sonuçları, hem rol yapma hem de hikâye anlatma tekniklerinin öğrencilerin konuşma performanslarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir iyileşmeye yol açtığını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Rol yapma tekniğine nazaran hikâye anlatma tekniği öğrencilerin konuşma performanslarında bir parça daha fazla artışa yol açsa da, bu iki teknik arasında istatistiksel olarak üstün olan yoktur. Ayrıca, bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, öğrencilerin orta düzeyde İngilizce konuşma kaygısına ve orta düzeyde İngilizce iletişim kurma isteğine sahip oldukları söylenebilir. Rol yapma ve hikâye anlatma teknikleri, öğrencilerin İngilizce konuşma kaygıları ve İngilizce konuşma istekleri üzerinde istatistiksel düzeyde anlamlı bir farka yol açmamıştır. Speaking skill is one of the fundamental properties of any language. Mastering the speaking skill is acknowledged as mastering the language by many. However, there is a considerable amount of research in the EFL context that reports the problems encountered by learners in EFL speaking. Utilization of interactive techniques has been recognized as a must in order to overcome the problems in EFL speaking and improve the speaking performances of the learners. Role-play and storytelling are two of the communicative techniques that can be used in EFL speaking classes to enhance the speaking skills of the learners. This study aimed to investigate the possible effects of using role-play and storytelling techniques in EFL classes on the students' speaking performances, their speaking anxieties, and willingness to communicate in English. This experimental study included two randomly selected intact 7th grade classes with a total of 63 students from a Turkish secondary state school. While one of the classes had role-play-based training for five weeks, the other class had storytelling-based training for the same duration. Their speaking performances were measured via speaking tests at the beginning and at the end of the study before and after the training sessions. Besides, an adapted version of Foreign Language Speaking Anxiety Scale (Huang, 2004) by Balemir (2009) was utilized two times at the beginning and at the end of the study to investigate the speaking anxieties of the students and observe the change in their anxiety levels. Alongside, a scale which was developed from the Willingness to Communicate Scale of McCroskey (1992) by Çetinkaya (2005) was employed to determine the willingness to communicate levels of the students before and after training. Quantitative methods and statistical tests were used to explore the data.Results unearthed that implementation of both role-play and storytelling techniques led to a statistically significant increase in the speaking performances of the students except in pronunciation. Although the speaking mean scores of the students were higher in the storytelling group, no statistically significance was observed between role-play and storytelling groups. In terms of their foreign language speaking anxiety, students turned out to be moderately anxious at the beginning and at the end of the study. No statistically significant difference was found between their pre- and post- speaking anxiety scales. Besides, according to the results of the study, it was seen that students had a moderate level of willingness to communicate in English both at the outset and end of the study, and the difference between groups was not statistically significant. From the results, it was concluded that both role-play and storytelling were effective on the speaking performances of the learners, though they did not change the anxiety and communication willingness levels of the learners. 172

Bu çalışmanın amacı, İngilizce dersinde öğrencilerin sözcük dağarcıklarını geliştirmelerinde ve derse yönelik tutumlarında işbirlikli öğrenme yönteminin öğretmen merkezli yöntemlerden Düz Anlatım yöntemine göre etkili olup olmadığını ortaya koymaktır. Çalışma ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel modele göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2016-2017 eğitim öğretim yılı Bahar döneminde Burdur ilinin Bucak ilçesindeki bir ortaokulda öğrenim gören iki şube 6. sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Sınıflardan biri deney, diğeri kontrol grubu olarak şans yolu ile atanmıştır. Deney grubunda İşbirlikli Öğrenme tekniklerinden Birleştirme I (Jigsaw I) tekniği uygulanılarak ders işlenirken kontrol grubunda Düz anlatım yöntemi ile ders işlenmiştir.Araştırmanın verileri, öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını saptamak amacıyla 37 soruluk `Sözcük Öğrenimine İlişkin Başarı Testi` ve öğrencilerin İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumlarını belirlemeye yönelik 30 maddelik `İngilizce Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği` ile toplanmıştır. Başarı testinin KR-20 güvenirlik katsayısı 0,88 olarak bulunmuştur. Veriler SPSS 22 paket programından yararlanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin normallik dağılımı Shapiro-Wilk Testi ile hesaplanmıştır. Bağımsız iki grubun verileri normal dağılım gösteriyorsa Bağımsız Gruplar t-Testi, normal dağılım göstermiyorsa Mann Whitney- U Testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Aynı grubun ön test-son test karşılaştırmasında normal dağılım gösteren veriler İlişkili Örneklemler t-Testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, başarı testi ile ilgili analizlere göre uygulamalar sonrasında her iki grup öğrencilerinin başarılarının istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde arttığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca iki grubun ön test-son test fark puanları arasında deney grubu lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu durum işbirlikli öğrenme yönteminin düz anlatım yöntemine göre öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını artırmada daha etkili olduğunu göstermektedir.Araştırmada uygulanan tutum ölçeğinden elde edilen verilerin analizinde, her iki gruptaki öğrencilerin ön test-son test puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmamıştır. Aynı zamanda her iki grup öğrencilerinin ön test-son test fark puanları arasında da istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Nitekim, öğrencilerin İngilizce sözcük öğrenmelerinde İşbirlikli Öğrenme yöntemi ve düz anlatım yönteminin öğrencilerin tutumlarında benzer etkiye sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Bu bağlamda, İngilizce sözcük öğretiminde İşbirlikli Öğrenme yöntemi ve Birleştirme I tekniğinin kullanılması önerilebilir. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of cooperative learning method on developing students' English vocabulary knowledge and their attitudes towards lesson by comparing with the lecture method which is one of the teacher centred methods. The research has been carried out by using pre test- post test quasi experimental model and cooperative learning method has been compared with traditional teaching method. The study group of this reseach consists of two classes of sixth grade students (n=48) who study in a secondary school in Bucak district of Burdur Province. One of the classes has been chosen as experiment group and the other has been chosen as control group randomly. In teaching process; while as one of the cooperative learning techniques Jigsaw I has been used in experiment group, lecture method has been used in control group. Data of the study has been gathered by `Vocabulary Knowledge Achievement Test` which consists of 37 items to determine the academic achievement of students and `Attitude Scale Towards English Lesson` to determine attitudes of students towards English lesson. The KR-20 reliability coefficient of the achievement test is 0,88. The obtained data has been analyzed by using SPSS 24.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software. In calculating normality variance of the data, Shapiro- Wilk Test has been used. If data of two independent groups has normal variance, it is analyzed by using Independent Groups t-Test. If data of two independent groups has not normal variance, it is analyzed by using Mann Whitney-U Test. On the other hand if data has normal variance, dependent samples t-Test is used in comparison of pre test-post test scores of one group. According to the analyses of the achievement test, academic achievement of both experiment and control groups increased significantly. As well, it was seen that students in experiment group were more successful than students in control group after pre test-post test difference scores of groups had been compared. So, it shows that cooperative learning (Jigsaw I) is more effective than lecture method in terms of increasing academic achievement of students.In accordance with the analyses of data obtained from attitude scale, it was found that there was not a statistically significant difference between the pre test-post test scores of students in both groups. At the same time, a statistically significant difference wasn't found between the pre test-post test difference scores of students in both groups. Thus, it was seen that in the learning process of English vocabulary, cooperative learning and lecture method have similar effects on students' attitudes. In this sense, cooperative learning method and Jigsaw I technique are suggested to be used. 176

Bu çalışmada iki dilli ortaokul öğrencilerinin üstdil farkındalıklarının İngilizce öğrenimiyle olan ilişkisi incelenmektedir. Üstdil farkındalığının erken çocukluk dönemlerinden itibaren anlama, düşünme ve çeşitli dil becerileri gibi bir çok alanda oldukça etkili olduğu farklı çalışmalarda ele alınmıştır (Bialystok, 2001; Cenoz & Valencia, 1994; Lasagabaster, 1998). Özellikle dil öğrenim süreçleri ve birden fazla dil öğrenme süreci arasındaki ilişki son dönemde çeşitli alanlardan araştırmacıların dikkatini çekmiştir. Bu çalışmada aile içinde öğrenilen farklı bir dil ile birlikte Türkçe bilen ikidilli öğrencilerin ve sadece Türkçe bilen tek dilli öğrencilerin İngilizce öğrenimleri ve hem Türkçe hem İngilizce dillerindeki üst dil farkındalıkları karşılaştırılmıştır. Üstdil farkındalıkları ile İngilizce öğrenimleri arasındaki ilişki her iki gruptan elde edilen verilere göre analiz edilmiştir. It has been aimed to investigate the correlation of metalinguistic awareness of heritage bilingual students who have different linguistic backgrounds with learning English as a foreign language. There have been several numbers of studies which have emphasized the role of metalinguistic awareness in some research areas such as comprehension, creative thinking, and some linguistic skills; stating that metalinguistic awareness and skills have been found as developing in early childhood ages. Especially, first language acquisition and learning more than two languages have been lately investigated in certain studies (Bialystok, 2001; Cenoz &Valencia 1994; Lasagabaster, 1998). As one of the distinctive studies, Cenoz (2003) have claimed that metalinguistic awareness has been noted as having the role of mediating factor while learning additional languages. Furthermore, Cummins (1976) has explained the Threshold Level Hypothesis as having linguistic awareness and skills can be accepted as a threshold which is needed to be gained while learning additional languages. In this present study, the difference between heritage bilingual students and monolingual students in terms of metalinguistic awareness in both Turkish and English and learning English as a foreign language have been evaluated. It has been found that there has been a statistically significant difference between the results of both groups and a high correlation of metalinguistic awareness with learning a foreign language. Finally, the opinions of heritage bilingual students on the extreme have been discussed in terms of linguistic knowledge and awareness with semi-structured interviews. According to analyses higher metalinguistic awareness has been found related to higher results and scores in tests.

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı İngilizce'yi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen Türk öğrencilerin hedef dildeki yazma becerilerini geliştirmesi hedeflenen diller arası geçişlilik pedagojisinin uygulamasını incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda diller arası geçişlilik pedagojisinin kullanımı lehinde bulgular elde edilen bir pilot çalışma gerçekleştirildikten sonra, iki deneysel ve bir kontrol grup ile yarı deneysel bir araştırma modeli gerçekleştirilmiştir. 2018-2019 akademin yılının güz dönemi boyunca, birinci deneysel grup diller arası geçişlilik pedagojisine maruz bırakılırken, ikinci deneysel grup yazmayı diller arası geçişlilik öğrenme döngüsünü ana dilleri içerilmeden öğrendi, ve kontrol grubu ise öğretim dili sadece İngilizce olan geleneksel ürün odaklı yaklaşımın uygulandığı yazma dersleri görmüştür. Birinci deneysel grup katılımcılarının diller arası geçişlilik deneyimlerini detaylı bir şekilde incelemek için, uyarılmış geri çağırma görüşmeleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ek olarak, haftalık anket ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler bu katılımcıların diller arası geçişliliğe ilişkin algılarını öğrenmek için kullanılmıştır. Bunların yanı sıra, sınıfta gerçekleştirilen dört adet yazma görevi bütün katılımcılardan puanların birbirlerinden önemli derecede farklı olup olmadığını karşılaştırmak için toplanmıştır. Son olarak, grupların yazma süreleri bu grupların yazma akıcılığında istatistiksel farklar olup olmadığını öğrenmek için karşılaştırılmıştır. Bulgulara bakıldığında, uyarılmış geri çağırma görüşmelerinin iki basamaklı nitel analizi deneysel grup katılımcılarıyla gerçekleştirildikten sonra, katılımcıların üç temel diller arası geçişlilik eylemini çeşitli sebepler için öğrenme süreçlerinin farklı aşamalarında kullandıkları bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, haftalık anket ve yarı yapılandırmış görüşmelerin nitel ve nicel analizleri bu katılımcıların diller arası geçişlilik pedagojisinin uygulamasını İngilizce yazma derslerinde orta derecede, çoğunlukla ve oldukça yararlı bulduklarını ortaya çıkarmıştır ve bu pedagoji onları organizasyon, planlama ve düşünme becerileri, grup çalışması, dilbilgisi, kelime, bağlaçlar ve pek çok diğerlerini içeren çeşitli yönlerde geliştirmeye yardımcı olmuştur. SPSS (Versiyon 21.0) ile analiz edilen yazma görevlerinden elde edilen veriler bütün grupların yazma görevlerinin puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak önemli farklılıklar olduğunu göstermiştir. Diller arası geçişlilik grubunun puanları bütün yazma görevlerinde diğer gruplarınkilerinden önemli derecede yüksek bulunmuştur. Benzer şekilde, diller arası geçişlilik öğrenme döngüsünün ana dilleri içerilmeden uygulanan ikinci deneysel grubunu, sadece İngilizce olan geleneksel grubunkinden önemli derecede yüksek puanlar elde etmiştir. Ek olarak, birinci deneysel grup yazma görevlerini diğer gruplardan önemli derecede daha kısa sürede tamamlamışlardır. Son olarak, gelişmekte olan iki dilli öğrencilerin ek bir dil öğrenirken, diller arası geçişlilikten bir pedagojik araç olarak faydalanmaları için uygulamalar ve ilerideki araştırmalar için öneriler verilmiştir. The present study's main objective is to examine the implementation of translanguaging pedagogy which was aimed at improving Turkish EFL learners' writing skill in the target language. Along this vein, after having carried out a pilot study providing results in favour of translanguaging pedagogy, a quasi-experimental research design was employed with two experimental and one control group. Throughout the fall semester of 2018-2019 academic year, the first experimental group was exposed to translanguaging pedagogy in their writing classes, whereas the second experimental group learned writing through translanguaging instructional cycle without inclusion of their mother tongue, and the control group had traditional English-only writing classes where product-focused approach was employed. To examine the first experimental group participants' practices of translanguaging pedagogy thoroughly, stimulated recall interviews were conducted. Additionally, weekly questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used to find out about their perceptions regarding translanguaging pedagogy. Besides these, four in-class writing tasks were collected from all participants in order to compare whether their scores varied significantly from one another. Finally, the writing durations of the groups were compared to find out whether there were statistical differences among groups' writing fluency. In terms of findings, after a two-step qualitative analysis of the stimulated recall interviews carried out with the translanguaging group participants, they were found to use three main translanguaging practices for various reasons at different stages of their learning processes. Furthermore, qualitative and quantitative analyses of weekly questionnaires and semi-structured interviews yielded that these participants found the implementation of translanguaging pedagogy moderately, mostly and extremely useful in their English writing classes, and it helped them to improve in a variety of aspects including organization, planning and thinking skills, group work, grammar, vocabulary, linkers and many more. The data from the writing tasks of the groups analysed via SPSS (Version 21.0) demonstrated that there were statistically significant differences among the writing task scores of all groups. The translanguaging group's scores were significantly higher than other groups' in all writing tasks. Likewise, the second experimental group in which translanguaging instructional cycle was implemented without including their mother tongue had significantly higher scores than those of the traditional product-focused English-only control group. Additionally, the first experimental group was found to complete their writing tasks in a significantly shorter amount of time than other groups. Finally, implications and recommendations for further research were given, which can help emergent bilingual learners to benefit from translanguaging as a pedagogical tool while they are learning to write in an additional language. 364

Karma yöntemli bu çalışma üstbilişsel dinleme eğitiminin öğrencilerin dinlediğini anlama ve dinleme farkındalık düzeyleri üzerindeki etkisini araştırmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin aldıkları eğitim (müfredatın bir parçası haline getirilip getirilmemesi gerektiği) ve kullanılan Ted-Talk videoları ile ilgili tutumlarını öğrenmek amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda, dört araştırma sorusu oluşturulmuştur: 1) Üstbilişsel dinleme stratejisi eğitimi İngilizceyi yabancı dil öğrenen Türk öğrencilerin dinleme performanslarını iyileştirmekte midir? 2) Üstbilişsel dinleme stratejisi eğitimi İngilizceyi yabancı dil öğrenen Türk öğrencilerin üstbilişsel dinleme farkındalıklarını arttırmakta mıdır? 3) İngilizceyi yabancı dil öğrenen Türk öğrencilerin, Ted-Talk videolarının üstbilişsel dinleme stratejisi eğitim materyali olarak kullanılması ile ilgili tutumları nedir? 4) İngilizceyi yabancı dil öğrenen Türk öğrencilerin, üstbilişsel dinleme stratejisi eğitimi ile ilgili algıları nedir? Bu araştırma sorularını cevaplamak amacıyla, çalışma Turizm İşletmeciliği Bölümü birinci sınıf, alt-orta seviyedeki 30 öğrenci (13 erkek, 17 kız) üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Veriler ön ve son test olarak kullanılan Üstbilişsel Dinleme Farkındalık Anketi, aynı şekilde ön ve son test olarak kullanılan ve iki bölüm ve toplamda 20 sorudan oluşan bir dinleme testi ve son olarak çalışma sonunda yapılan yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme ile toplanmıştır. Veriler hem nicel, hem de nitel özellikte olduğu için, analiz iki farklı şekilde yapılmıştır. Nicel veri SPSS programı ile analiz edilmiş, nitel veriler ise içerik analizine tabii tutulmuştur. Sonuçlar üstbilişsel dinleme eğitiminin öğrencilerin dinleme performansını önemli ölçüde iyileştirdiğini göstermiştir. Aynı zamanda, öğrencilerin genel anlamda üstbilişsel farkındalıklarının arttığı gözlemlenirken, en önemli artışın yönlendirilmiş dikkat ve problem çözme stratejilerinde meydana geldiği görülmüştür. Nitel analiz sonucunda, öğrencilerin Ted-Talk videolarını salt dinleme materyallerine nazaran daha yardımcı bulduklarını göstermiştir. Bunların yanı sıra, katılımcılar üstbilişsel dinleme eğitimine karşı olumlu bir tavır göstermiş ve bu eğitimin, öğrencilere dinleme problemlerini yenmeleri konusunda yardımcı olması için müfredatın bir parçası olması gerektiğini düşünmüşlerdir. It was also intended to find out students' attitudes towards the instruction (whether it should be a part of the curriculum) and Ted-Talk videos as instruction materials. In this regard, four research questions were formed: 1) Does metacognitive listening instruction improve Turkish EFL university students' listening performance? 2) Does metacognitive listening instruction increase Turkish EFL university students' metacognitive awareness of listening?3) What are the attitudes of Turkish EFL university students' towards the use of Ted-Talk videos as metacognitive listening instruction materials? 4) What are Turkish EFL university students' perceptions of metacognitive listening instruction? To answer the research questions, the study was implemented on 30 pre-intermediate level (13 Male, 17 Female) freshmen students studying Tourism Management. The data was collected by Metacognitive Awareness Listening Questionnaire (MALQ) that was applied as a pre- and post-test, a listening test consisting of two parts (Part A and B) that had 20 questions, which was also applied as pre- and post-tests, and finally a semi-structured interview that was conducted at the end of the study. As the data are of both quantitative and qualitative quality, the analysis was carried out in two different ways. The quantitative data was analyzed by SPSS program (SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 21.0.) while the qualitative data was subjected to content analysis. The findings showed that metacognitive listening instruction improved students' listening performance significantly. It was also found that students' metacognitive awareness was increased on the whole, while the most of significant increase occurred in directed attention and problem-solving strategies. The analysis of the qualitative data showed that students found Ted-Talk Videos more helpful compared to audios only. Besides, participants had a positive attitude for the metacognitive listening instruction and thought that it should be a part of the curriculum to assist students overcome their listening problems. 113

Yabancı dil kaygısı insanın dil öğrenme sürecini etkileyen karmaşık bir süreçtir. Konuşma kaygısı, yabancı dil öğrenme sürecini öğrenenlerin yaşı ve dil seviyesi ne olursa olsun etkiler ve kimi zaman öğrencilerin dil öğrenme hevesini kırarak dili öğrenmelerinden alıkoyar işte bu nedenle dil öğretim sürecinde öğrencilerin düşünme yetilerinin yanı sıra duygularına da odaklanmak hayati bir önem taşır. Bu bakış açısından yola çıkarak, bu çalışmanın amacı İngilizce öğrenmekte olan öğrencilerde konuşma kaygısına neden olan faktörleri araştırmaktır. Bu çalışmanın katılımcıları İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi hazırlık okulunda okumakta olan ve orta düzey İngilizce bilen rastgele seçilmiş 50 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın verileri iki veri toplama ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Birinci ölçek Horwitz, Horwitz ve Cope (1986) tarafından geliştirilen yabancı dil kaygı ölçeği (FLCAS), ikincisi ise hedef grup mülakatlarıdır. Hedef grup mülakatları sırasında Batiha, Mohd and Mustaffa (2014) tarafından geliştirilen mülakat ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Hedef grup mülakatları gönüllülük esasına dayalı olarak 10 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın verileri yabancı dil kaygı ölçeği öge sınıflandırması baz alınarak dört bölümde analiz edilmiştir: dil yeterlilik algısı, kendini diğerleriyle kıyaslama ve diğerleriyle rekabet etme, sınav kaygısı ve İngilizce derslerinde hata yapma kaygısı. Kişisel dil yeterlilik algısı ile ilgili bulgular katılımcıların çoğunun İngilizce konuşma konusunda özgüvenli ve rahat olduğunu gösterse de az sayıda kişisel dil yeterlilik algısı düşük öğrenci olduğunu göstermiştir. Kişisel dil yeterlilik algısı düşük olan öğrencilerin İngilizce konuşuma konusunda özgüvensiz oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Hedef grup mülakatlarında kişisel dil yeterlilik algısı düşük olan öğrencilerin İngilizce konuşmaya alıştıkça konuşma kaygısıyla baş edebildikleri sonucuna varılmıştır. Böylece özgüvenli ve rahat olmanın yabancı dili konuşmada önemli faktörler olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrencinin kendini diğerleriyle kıyaslama ve rekabet etme konusundaki bulgular katılımcıların yarısından çoğunun dil öğrenme sürecinde kendilerini diğerleriyle kıyaslamadıklarını göstermiştir. Bulgular bu öğrencilerin yabancı dil öğrenme sürecinde hata yapmanın doğal olduğunu düşündüklerini ve kendilerinin diğerlerinden daha iyi olduğuna inandıklarını göstermiştir. Kendi dil yeterlilik seviyesini diğerleriyle kıyaslayan öğrencilerin ise dil yeterlilik seviyesi düşük öğrenciler olduğu ve öğrenme süreci içerisinde dil yeterlilik seviyeleri yükseldikçe özgüvenlerinin arttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu öğrenciler İngilizce sınav kaygısı çekmediklerini belirtmişler ve bunun sebebinin günlük olarak sistemli bir şekilde sınavlara hazırlanmak ve İngilizce öğretmenlerinin de çok iyi olması şeklinde açıklamışlardır. Bu öğrencilerin yanı sıra azınlık bir grup öğrenci sınav kaygısı çektiklerini belirtmişler ve bu kaygının kaynağını farklı sebeplerle açıklamışlardır. Örneğin, bir öğrenci sınıf dışı çalışmaya zaman ayıramadığını söylerken bir diğeri sınavlarda dikkat eksikliği sorunu yaşadığını belirtmiştir. İngilizce derslerinde hata yapma kaygısı konusunda öğrencilerin sınıfta konuşurken hata yapma kaygısı yaşamadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrenciler bunun sebebini açıklarken dil sınıflarında hata yapmanın doğal olduğuna inandıklarını ve İngilizceyi düzgün bir şekilde konuşabilmek için öğretmenlerinden hatalarını düzeltmelerini beklediklerini belirtmişlerdir.Anahtar kelimeler: Yabancı dil kaygısı, konuşma kaygısı. Foreign language anxiety is a complicated concept affecting human learning process. Speaking anxiety affects any foreign language learning development negatively at any level regardless of the students' age and it might discourage them and prevent them from acquiring the language. This is the reason why it is extremely important that instruction focuses on the students' feelings as well as their thinking. Following this line of reasoning, the aim of this study was to investigate the factors that cause speaking anxiety in English language learners. The participants of this case study were randomly selected 50 Turkish university students who are at the pre-intermediate language proficiency level of English at the Preparatory School of Istanbul Aydın University. Two main data collection instruments were used in this study. The first data collection instrument was a Foreign Language Anxiety Scale, which was developed by Horwitz, Horwitz and Cope (1986). The second data collection instrument was the focus group interviews. During the focus group interviews a checklist developed by Batiha, Mohd and Mustaffa (2014) was used. Focus group interviews were conducted with 10 participants on voluntary basis. Using the item categorization of the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale, the data of the study were analysed in four sections: self-perceived proficiency, self-comparison to others and competitiveness, fear of performance in test situation and learners' beliefs about making mistakes in English class. The findings on self-perceived proficiency showed that although the majority of the students have self-confidence and feel relaxed about speaking English in the class, there are a few students who have self-perceived low-level ability in learning a foreign language. Those students, who have self-perceived low- level ability in learning a foreign language, are not sure of themselves when speaking English in the class. The focus group interview analysis helped us to conclude that those students with low ability level self-perception learn to overcome the feelings of speaking anxiety as they get accustomed to using English in communication. We may conclude that being confident and feelings of comfort during speaking in foreign language are significant factors in speaking. With regard to the self-comparison to others and competitiveness category, we realized that more than half of the students don't think of others' competence during the language learning process, while the rest of them compare themselves with the other students in the class. In the light of our analysis as to why those students don't think of others' competence, we found out that those students think it is natural to make mistakes in learning a foreign language and they also believe that they are better than their peers in the English class and this is why they feel very confident when they talk in front of the class. As for those students who compare their language proficiency levels to others, we observed that those students are less proficient in the target language than the others and in time their level of confidence in the use of the target language increases. Those students stated that they don't get anxious about the English language examinations because they always prepare themselves for the examinations in advance on daily-basis. In addition, they mentioned that studying hard at home and also listening to the teacher in the class help them to become aware of the topics they are not good at. Moreover, they pointed out that their teacher is very good and that is why there is no need to get nervous about the examination time. But we cannot deny those learners who do have problems in test situation even though they represent the minority of the participants. It was clear that those students who have problems in this issue feel worried about the idea of failing in the English language examination for different reasons. For example, while one student says he does not spare much time for out-of-class work, the other one complains about his carelessness. Regarding the learners' beliefs about making mistakes in English class, we concluded that all of the students don't feel anxious about making mistakes in the English class. These students view the process of foreign language learning similar to learning a mother tongue. Accordingly, they believe it is natural to make mistakes in the language classroom. Bu araştırma, devlet okullarında öğrenim gören ortaokul ve lise öğrencilerinin dil öğrenme kaygılarına ilişkin davranışlarının incelenmesi amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu amaçla çalışmada, cinsiyet, yabancı dil kursuna gidip gitmeme, yerleşim yeri, aile gelir durumu, okuldaki başarı durumu değişkenlerinin, yabancı dil kaygısını doğrudan ve dolaylı olarak ne derecede yordadıklarının belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında Uşak ili merkezinde bulundan belirli sayıdaki ortaokul ve liselerdeki belirli sayıdaki öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri toplanırken Aydın (1999) tarafından geliştirilen Yabancı Dil Sınıf Kaygısı Ölçeğinin revizyonu kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama araçlarından elde edilen veriler bilgisayar ortamında SPSS 17.0 istatistik paket programı aracılığıyla değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, öğrencilerin düşük düzeyde yabancı dil öğrenme kaygılarına sahip oldukları saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin yabancı dil başarı durumları ile yabancı dil kaygıları arasında istatistiksel açıdan negatif yönlü anlamlı ilişkilerin olduğu saptanmıştır. Buna göre öğrencilerin yabancı dil öğrenme kaygıları azaldıkça yabancı dil başarıları artmaktadır. In this study, it is aimed to predict the foreign language anxiety of secondary and high school students. With this purpose, it is targeted to determine to what extent gender, attendind ro not attending to foreign language school, locality, foreign language achievement predict foreign language anxiety directly and indirectly. SPSS 17.0 statistical programming was used at data evaluation. The sample of this study consisted of some students who are attending to some secondary and some high schools in Uşak centre in the academic year of 2018-2019. Data was gathered by using Foregin Language Classroom Anxiety Scal's revision developed by Aydın (1999). At the end of the study it is found out that the students have low level of foreign language learning anxiety. And it is also found that there is statistically significant negative result between the foreign language learning anxiety and the school achievement of the students. Accordingly, the students' foreign language learning anxiety gets decreased as the school achievement of the students increase. 92

Dil, bir topluluğun birlikte oluşturduğu kültürel mirasın gelecek nesillere ulaşmasını sağlayan en ehemmiyetli araçtır. Dil öğretimi, bu kültürel mirasın yabancı dil öğrenmek isteyen öğrenicilere aktarılmasını sağlar. Türkçenin kaynak eserlerinin dil öğretiminde kullanılması kültürün aktarılması açısından Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretimi alanında yararlı olacak bir çalışmadır. Dil öğretiminde kaynak eserlerden metin seçiminde bulunmak; dilin inceliklerinin gösterilmesi ve kültürün tanıtılması açısından büyük ehemmiyet taşımaktadır. Araştırmadaki amaç ise Türkçenin kaynak eserlerinden olan Seyahatname'nin Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kullanılma imkânının tespitidir. Araştırma beş ana bölümden oluşmaktadır: Birinci bölümde araştırma ile ilgili genel bilgilerin bulunduğu `Giriş, Problem, Amaç ve Önem` kısmı yer almaktadır. İkinci bölümde çalışma ile ilgili yapılan literatür taramasından elde edilen bilgilerin aktarıldığı alan yazın kısmı bulunmaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde çalışmanın nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modelinin kullanılarak hazırlandığı belirtilmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde çalışmada elde edilen bulgular yer almaktadır. Bunlar; Seyahatname'den Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kullanması için A2 seviyesindeki Türkçe öğrenicilerine uyarlanan metin örnekleri, kelime bölümü ve dört esas dil becerisine göre hazırlanan etkinliklerdir. Beşinci bölüm ise sonuç ve önerilerden oluşmaktadır. Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kullanılacak metinlerin, Türkçenin kaynak eserlerinden seçilmesi ile hem metnin özgün bir yapıda olması hem de kültürel değerlerin aktarımı sağlanacaktır. Metinlerin dil öğretiminde kullanılması için metinler, öğrencilerin dil seviyesine uygun bir şekilde uyarlanmalı ve metnin aslına sadık kalınmaya çalışılmalıdır. Araştırmada Seyahatname'nin on cildinin incelenmesi, ilgili alan yazın taraması, uygulanan yöntem ve bulgular sonucunda eserden seçilen metinler ve metinlere yönelik dört esas dil becerisine yönelik hazırlanan etkinlikler ile Seyahatname'nin Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kullanılabilirliği yönüyle faydalı olacağı belirlendi. Seyahatname, Evliya Çelebi'nin 17. yüzyılda Osmanlı'nın geniş sınırlara ulaştığı dönemde bu coğrafya üzerinde yapmış olduğu seyahati ve o günün hayat tarzını, Türkçenin özelliğini ve zenginliğini ayrıca farklı milletlerin dilini, kültürünü, halk ile ilgili yapısını ve coğrafyasını aktarmıştır. Bu sebeple Seyahatname Türk milletine olduğu kadar, Türkçeyi öğrenmek isteyen yabancı öğrencilerin de ilgisini çekecek ve dil öğrenmelerine katkı sağlayacaktır. Eserin Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kullanılması ile bu alana Türkçenin kaynak eserlerinden olan Seyahatname'nin kazandırılacağı düşünülmektedir. Language is the most important ınstrument which provide to reach cultural heritage composed by community to the next generation. Language teaching provides to transfer this cultural heritage to students who want to learn foreign language. To use sources of Turkish in language teaching is a beneficial study in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreing language for cultural transmission. To choose text from literary work while teaching language has importance for showing politeness of language and introducing culture. The aim of this study is to ascertain possibility of using Seyahatname a Turkish literary work while teaching Turkish as a foreign language. This study consists five parts: In the first part there is introduction, problem, aim, importance section which includes general informations about the study. In the second part, there are informations from literature riviews which are done for the study. In the third part, it is ındicated that this study is prepared by using screening model from qualitative research methods. In the fourth part, there are findings abtained in the study. These are texts from Seyahatname which are adapted for A2 level students who learn Turkish vocobulary part and exercises which are prepared according to four language skills. Fifth part consists of conclusion and suggestions. It will be supplied both authenticity of the text and transmission of cultural values with choosing texts used for teaching Turkish as a foreign language from resource works. Text should be adapted to students level and authenticity of the text shouldnt be changed. We established that it is going to be useful to use Seyahatname for teaching Turkish as a foreign language in this study with researching ten volume, literature review, chosen texts from literary work at the end of the findings and methods used and activities prepared for four skills. Seyahatname contributes to Turkish nation the trip which is done in 17.century by Evliya Çelebi who was an Ottoman Explorer, life in this term, feature of Turkish and productiveness of Turkish besides language, culture, social structure and geography of different nations and also Seyahatname contributes to language teaching of foreign students. It also awakens students interest it is tought that Seyahatname will be brought in this field with using it teaching Turkish as a foreign language. 255

Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaokul kademesinde öğrenim gören 5., 6., 7. ve 8. sınıf düzeyindeki öğrencilerin yazılı metinlerinde düşünce alt yapısını değerlendirmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda yazılı metinlerde yer alan kelime, cümle ve paragraf düzeyindeki temel düşünceler, destekleyici düşünceler, destekleme yönü ve düşüncelerin metin içindeki düzenlenişi incelenmiştir. Araştırma hâlihazırdaki olguları ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlayan betimsel nitelikte bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın evrenini ortaokul öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemi ise Hatay ili Antakya ve Defne merkez ilçelerindeki ortaokullar içinden random yöntemiyle belirlenen 4 ortaokulda öğrenim gören 439 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Bu bağlamda 5. sınıf düzeyinden 113, 6. sınıf düzeyinden 107, 7. sınıf düzeyinden 115 ve 8. sınıf düzeyinden 104 öğrenci çalışmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak; `Bilgilendirici Metinlerde Düşünce Alt Yapısına İlişkin Dereceli Puanlama Anahtarı`, `Dil Birimlerine Göre Düşüncelerin Dağılımına İlişkin Değerlendirme Formu`, `Düşüncelerin Metin İçindeki Organizasyonuna İlişkin Değerlendirme Formu`, `Destekleme Yönü Kullanımına İlişkin Değerlendirme Formu`, `Temel Düşünce ve Destekleyici Düşünce Oranına İlişkin Değerlendirme Formu`, `Düşüncelerin Düzenlenmesinde Yapılan Yanlışlara İlişkin Belirtke Tablosu` kullanılmıştır. Verileri elde etmek için öğrencilere yazılı anlatım çalışması yaptırılmıştır. Bu amaçla öğrencilere yazmaları için her sınıf düzeyinde beşer konu verilmiş, bu konulardan birisini seçerek bir metin yazmaları istenmiştir. Öğrencilerin yazdıkları metinler `temel düşünce`, `destekleyici düşünce`, `destekleme yönü` ve `düşüncelerin sentezi` açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada ayrıca düşüncelerin dil birimlerine göre dağılımı, metin içindeki organizasyonu, destekleme yönü kullanımı ve düşüncelerin düzenlenişi sırasında karşılaşılan sorunlar ile ilgili bulgulara da yer verilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre ortaokul kademesindeki öğrencilerin yazılı metinlerinde temel ve destekleyici düşünceler dengeli bir dağılım göstermemekte; temel düşünceler, destekleme yönü ve destekleyici düşüncelerin kullanımı eksik kalmakta; düşüncelerin düzenlenişiyle ilgili tüm sınıf düzeylerinde sorunlar yaşanmaktadır. The aim of this research is to study in the middle school level, 5., 6., 7. and 8. to assess the substructure of the thought in the written texts of students at class level. For this purpose, the main thoughts of words, sentences and paragraphs in written texts, supportive thoughts, supporting direction and the arrangement of thoughts within the text are examined. Research is a descriptive study aimed at revealing the cases that are currently in production. Middle School students constitute the universe of research. The sample of the research consists of 439 students who study in 4 secondary schools determined by random through secondary schools in Hatay province Antakya and Defne Central districts. In this context, 113 from the fifth grade level, 107 from the sixth grade level, 115 from the seventh grade level and 104 students from the eighth grade level were included in the study. As a data collection tool in research; `Rating Key for the Substructure of Thought in İnformative Texts`, `Evaluation Form for the Distribution of Thoughts According to Language Units`, `Evaluation Form for the Organization of Thoughts in the Text`, `Supporting Evaluation Form for the Use of Direction `,` Evaluation Form For the Main Thinking and Supportive Thinking Ratio`,` The Statement on the Mistakes Made in the Arrangement of Thoughts` was used. In order to obtain the data, a written narrative study was made to students. For this purpose, the students were given five subjects at each class level to write a text, selecting one of these topics.The texts of the students were evaluated in terms of `main thinking`, `supportive thinking`, `supporting direction` and `synthesis of thoughts`. The research also included the distribution of thoughts according to language units, the organization within the text, the use of supporting direction and the findings related to the problems encountered during the arrangement of thoughts. According to the findings obtained, the main and supportive thoughts in the written texts of the students in the middle school level do not show a balanced distribution; The main thoughts, the support direction and the use of supportive thoughts remain incomplete; Problems are experienced at all class levels related to the arrangement of thoughts. 148

Bu çalışma Çevre mühendisliği bölümü ikinci sınıf öğrencilerinin İngilizce olarak yapılan bir mühendisliğe giriş dersi kapsamında teknik eşdizimli kelimelerin doğrudan ve örtük yöntemlerle öğretiminin etkililiğini değerlendirmeyi amaçlamıştır. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını Türkiye'nin kuzey-batısında yer alan bir devlet üniversitesinde okuyan 61 mühendislik öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Dönem başında yapılan kelime seviyesi ve okuma becerisini ölçen ön-testler grupların benzer özelliklerde olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Öğretim döneminin başlamasından önce, 89 mühendislik kitabının biraraya getirilmesi sonucu 17 milyon kelimelik bir derlem oluşturulmuş ve öğrencilere alana özgü ezdişimlerin öğretilebilmesi için teknik kelimeler ile eşdizimleri çıkartılmıştır. 14 hafta süren dönem boyunca, örtük öğretim grubunda yer alan öğrenciler hedef eşdizimlere okuma ve dinleme parçaları yoluyla maruz bırakılmış; öte yandan, doğrudan öğretim grubundaki öğrenciler sekiz farklı girdi ve çıktı odaklı eşdizim öğrenim etkinliği tamamlamışlardır. Etkinliklerin ve öğretim yöntemlerinin etkililiği, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen eşdizim biçim ve anlam bilgisini algısal-üretsel boyutlarda ölçen dört farklı sınavın ön-test son-test şeklinde uygulanması yoluyla değerlendirilmiştir. Grupların algısal ve üretsel eşdizim sınavlarından elde ettikleri fark puanları arasında belirgin farklılıkların olup olmadığını anlamak amacıyla bağımsız örneklemler için T-testleri ve Mann Whitney U testleri uygulanmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları, girdi ve çıktı temelli etkinliklerle desteklenen doğrudan öğretim yönteminin alana özgü eşdizimlerin öğrenimine oldukça etkili bir biçimde katkıda bulunduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Bu bağlamda, çalışma sonucunda etkinlik temelli kasıtlı bir eşdizim öğretim bileşeninin uygulanmasının mühendislik sınıflarında çoklu kelime gruplarının öğrenilmesinin desteklenmesine başarıyla katkıda bulunduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Mevcut çalışma, mühendislik dersleri için bir takım eğitsel öneriler; çalışmanın kısıtlılıkları ve yapılabilecek yeni araştırmalar için bazı önerilerle son bulmaktadır. The present study attempted to evaluate the effectiveness of explicit and implicit instruction of technical collocations in an introductory level engineering course given in English for second year environmental engineering students. The participants of the study were 61 engineering students at a Turkish state university located in north-west of the country. The participants were randomly assigned to two learning conditions. The pre-test scores on vocabulary and reading comprehension indicated that the groups were similar before the treatment. Prior to the instruction, a corpus of 89 engineering books comprised of 17 million words was compiled and technical keywords and their collocations were extracted to serve learners with field-specific technical collocations. Over a period of 14 weeks, the students in the implicit learning group were exposed to the target collocations by reading and listening to texts, whereas the learners in the explicit group completed eight different input- and output- based collocational learning tasks. The effectiveness of the learning conditions and tasks were assessed through a battery of four receptive and productive `knowledge of form and meaning of collocations` tests developed by the researcher and used as pre- and post-tests. To determine whether there were significant differences between the gain scores of the groups on the receptive and productive collocation tests, independent t-tests and Mann-Whitney U tests were performed. Overall, there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the two groups on all four measures at the end of the semester. The results of the study confirmed that the explicit study of field-specific collocations followed by various input and output-based activities effectively contributed to learning of technical collocations. In this regard, the implementation of an activity-based intentional collocation teaching module would be successful in supporting the language aspects of an engineering class for multi-word learning. The present study concludes with pedagogical implications for engineering courses, limitations and suggestions for further research. 169

Bu araştırmada tüm fiziksel tepki-öykü anlatma (TFT-Ö) yönteminin, dilbilgisi-çeviri (D-Ç) yöntemi (geleneksel yöntem) ile kıyaslandığında, üçüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin yabancı dilde kelime edinimine etkisinin ve bu yöntemlere ilişkin görüşlerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Karma araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı, gömülü desene sahip bu araştırmada veriler, Konya ili Kadınhanı ilçesinde uygun örnekleme ile belirlenen bir ilkokuldaki 49 üçüncü sınıf öğrencisinden toplanmıştır. Veri toplama araçları olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen Kelime Edinim Testi ön-test ve son-test olarak kullanılmış, deney ve kontrol gruplarındaki öğrencilere uygulama boyunca günlükler tutturulmuştur. Veriler, bağımlı ve bağımsız örneklemler t testleri ile betimsel analiz kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, deney grubundaki öğrencilerin kelime ediniminde TFT-Ö yönteminin etkili olduğu; kontrol grubundaki öğrencilerin kelime ediniminde D-Ç yönteminin (geleneksel yöntemin) etkili olduğu; deney grubunda uygulanan TFT-Ö yönteminin kontrol grubunda uygulanan D-Ç yönteminden (geleneksel yöntemden) kelime edinimi açısından daha etkili / etkisiz bir yöntem olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca, uygulama boyunca deney ve kontrol gruplarındaki öğrencilerin tuttukları günlüklerin betimsel analizi sonucunda çoğu öğrencinin her iki yönteme ilişkin olumlu görüşlere sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. This study aims to investigate the effect of total physical response-storytelling (TPRS) method on vocabulary acquisition among third graders in a foreign language compared to grammar-translation (G-T) method (traditional method) and the views on these methods. In this study in which mixed research method and embedded design are used, the data were collected from 49 third graders in a primary school selected by convenience sampling in Kadınhanı, Konya. The Vocabulary Acquisition Test developed by the researcher as data collection tool is used as pre-test and post-test, and students in the experimental group and control group kept diaries throughout the intervention. The data were analyzed using independent and related samples t tests and descriptive analysis. Research results revealed that the TPRS method is effective for vocabulary acquisition of the students in the experimental group; the G-T method (traditional method) is effective for vocabulary acquisition of the students in the control group; the TPRS method used in the experimental group is not more effective / ineffective method compared to the G-T method (traditional method) used in the control group in terms of vocabulary acquisition. Furthermore, descriptive analysis of the diaries kept by the students in both experimental and control groups throughout the intervention revealed that most of the students give positive opinions on both methods.

Çok fazla ve çeşitli özgün materyaller sağladığı için yabancı dil öğreniminde kullanılan teknoloji destekli yöntemler gittikçe artarak dil öğrencileri tarafından istifade edilmektedir. Böylelikle, online ve geleneksel eğitimlerin birleştirildiği harmanlanmış öğrenme yöntemi son on yıldır dil öğretim ve öğreniminde en çok tercih edilen uygulamalarda biri olmuştur. Harmanlanmış öğrenim uygulaması, eğitim alanında, özellikle de yükseköğretimde artış gösterirken öğrenme yönetim sistemleri en çok kullanılan web tabanlı araçlar olmuştur. Öğrencilerin ve öğretmenlerin harmanlanmış öğrenime olan algı ve tutumlarını araştırmayı amaçlayan bu çalışma, 2018-2019 akademik yılında Karabük Üniversitesi Yabancı Diller Yüksek Okulu'nda yürütülmüştür. İngilizce hazırlık programında eğitim gören 120 öğrencinin görüşlerinin verisi bir anketle toplanırken, harmanlanmış öğrenim üzerine görüşlerini araştırmak amacıyla 5 okutmanla röportaj yapılmıştır. Bu nicel ve nitel araçlarla toplanan veriler, öğrencilerin harmanlanmış dil öğretimine karşı algılarının genelde nötr olduğunu, ancak yöntemin yüz yüze gerçekleştirilen yönünün de online yönünden daha yüksek oranda derecelendirildiğini göstermiştir. Ayrıca sonuçlara göre öğretmenlerin harmanlanmış öğrenim uygulamasına karşı genel tutumları öğrencilerinkinden daha olumludur.Anahtar Kelimeler: Harmanlanmış öğrenim, öğrenme yönetim sistemleri, bilgisayar destekli dil öğrenimi The technology-enhanced methods used in foreign language learning instruction have been benefited increasingly by language learners since they supply immense and miscellaneous authentic materials. Therefore, blended learning method in which online instruction and traditional instruction are integrated has become one of the most preferred implementations in language teaching and learning in the last decade. While the implementation of blended learning has been increasing in education fields, especially in higher education, LMSs (Learning Management Systems) have become the mostly used web-based tools. Aiming to investigate the perceptions and attitudes of students and instructors towards blended learning, this study was conducted at School of Foreign Languages, Karabük University in 2018-2019 academic year. While the data of the thoughts of 120 students studying at English Preparatory Programme was gathered through a questionnaire, 5 instructors were interviewed in order to find out their views on blended learning. The data collected with these quantitative and qualitative tools indicated that students' perceptions towards blended language instruction were neutral in general, but face-to-face aspect of the method was rated higher than the online one nevertheless. Furthermore, according to the results, the general attitudes of teachers towards blended learning implementation were more positive than learners'. Die vorliegende Arbeit beabsichtigt, die Sprachlernbiografien der Lehrerinnen zu erstellen, die die deutsche Sprache als Jugendliche in Deutschland erworben haben und zurzeit in der Türkei als Lehrkraft arbeiten. Sie soll auf Grundlage offener Interviews darstellen, wie und mit welchen Lernstrategien sie die deutsche Sprache erworben haben. Mit den Sprachlernbiografien sollen Sprachlernenden und zukünftige Sprachlehrenden neue Perspektiven eröffnet werden und ihnen neue Lernstrategien nähergebracht werden. Wenn der Sprachlernbiografie-Ansatz von den Sprachlernenden angewendet wird, erhalten sie die Möglichkeit eigene Sprachlernprozesse bewusst anzuwenden. Wenn die Sprachlernende diesen Ansatz anwenden würden, könnten sie ihren eigenen Sprachlernprozess und ihre Lernerfahrungen nochmal in Erinnerung bringen. Demnach könnten sie mit den besten Methoden und Ansätzen unterrichten und die Sprachlernprozesse ihrer Lernenden besser kontrollieren. Die aus den offenen Interviews gewonnenen Daten werden in unserer Untersuchung qualitativ analysiert, demzufolge werden die Ansichten der Lehrerinnen ausgewertet. Bu araştırmanın amacı Almanya'da genç yaşlarında Alman dilini öğrenmeye devam eden, bugün Türkiye'de Almanca öğretmenliği yapan öğretmenlerin, Alman Dilini nasıl ve hangi stratejilerle öğrendiklerini mülakat yolu ile belirleyerek, Alman dilini öğrenecek ve öğretecek öğrencilere yeni bakış açısı ve öğrenme stratejileri kazandırmaktır. Dil öğrenme biyografi yaklaşımını öğrenenlerin kullanması, dil öğrenme süreçlerini bilinçli olarak yönlendirme imkânı sunacağı gibi öğretmenlerin de kendi dil edinim süreçlerini gözden geçirirken hatırladıkları tecrübeleriyle dersi en iyi metotlarla ve yaklaşımlarla sunmasını ve öğrencilerinin dil öğrenme süreçlerini daha detaylı kontrol etmesini sağlayacaktır. Mülakatlardan elde edilecek veriler nitel incelenecektir ve öğretmenlerin görüşleri değerlendirilecektir. This study intends to determine by the application of an interviewing method how and by which strategies teachers who continue learning German language in their youth in Germany and practise to teach German language today in Turkey, and to cause students who shall learn German language and teach it later to have a new perspective and learning strategies. Application of biography approach in language learning by learners shall provide individuals with opportunity to have conscious orientation about language learning processes and also to submit a lesson by the use of best methods and approaches they previously had in their mind while they reviewed their language acquisition processes and to control in detail language learning processes of their students. Data to be acquired from interviews shall be examined in terms of quality aspect and consequentially opinions of teachers shall be assessed.

Ödev verme, eğitimin tüm seviyelerinde yaygın olan bir uygulamadır, ancak pedagojik bir araç olarak öğrenme süreci üzerindeki etkisi hala tartışma konusudur. Geçtiğimiz on yılda, eğitim amaçlı oluşturulan web tabanlı araçların hızlı bir gelişimi görülmüştür. Bu gelişmelere paralel olarak, araştırmacılar ve eğitimciler, öğrenmeyi değerlendirmek ve geleneksel ev ödevlerinde yaşanan sıkıntıları gidermek amacıyla son yıllarda çevrimiçi ödev sistemlerine giderek artan bir ilgi göstermeye başlamışlardır. Geleneksel ev ödevleriyle ilgili problemlerin birçoğu Türkiye'deki meslek yüksek okullarında da yaşanmaktadır. Bu çalışma, bir meslek yüksekokulu bağlamında, çevrimiçi İngilizce ödevlerinin öğrenci başarısı üzerindeki etkisini araştırmayı ve öğrencilerin çevrimiçi ödevler hakkındaki görüşlerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu deneysel çalışmanın katılımcıları, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi (MAKÜ) Gölhisar Meslek Yüksekokulu'nda (GMYO) okuyan toplam 49 birinci sınıf öğrencisidir. Bu öğrencilerden 28'i deney grubunu; 21'i ise kontrol grubunu oluşturmuştur. Çalışma 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde 12 haftalık bir sürede gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın başında her iki gruba da bir ön test uygulanmıştır. Daha sonra, deney grubuna Edmodo üzerinden ve kontrol grubuna ise geleneksel olarak (kâğıt-kalem kullanılarak yapılan ödev) beş adet haftalık ödevler verildi. Ödevlerin verilme sürecinde, deney grubundaki öğrencilerle yaptıkları çevrimiçi ödevler (Edmodo) hakkında yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Son haftada, çalışmanın başında uygulanan ön test, her iki gruba da son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Ödevlerin öğrenci başarısı üzerindeki etkisi, her iki grubun ön test ve son test sonuçları nicel analiz yöntemiyle karşılaştırılarak belirlenmiştir ve öğrencilerin çevrimiçi ödevlere yönelik tutumları ise deney grubundaki öğrencilerle yapılan görüşmelerin nitel analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmesiyle belirlenmiştir. Bulgular, ödevlerin ister çevrimiçi ister geleneksel olsun, öğrencilerin başarılarını önemli ölçüde arttırdığını ortaya koymuştur. Bununla birlikte, çevrimiçi ödevleri yapan öğrencilerin başarı artış oranı, geleneksel ödevleri yapan öğrencilerinkine göre iki katı civarında olmuştur. Çalışma ayrıca öğrencilerin çevrimiçi ödevler hakkında genellikle olumlu görüşlere sahip olduklarını ortaya koymuştur. Çalışma sonucunda, İngilizce öğretmenlerinin meslek yüksekokullarında ödev vermeleri gerektiği ve bu ödevlerin; teslimi, kontrolü ve ödevlere not vermenin daha pratik olmasının yanı sıra, öğrenciler için daha fazla öğretici, motive edici ve eğlenceli olmasından dolayı, çevrimiçi olarak verilmesi gerektiği önerilmektedir. Giving homework is a common practice at all levels of education, yet its impact as a pedagogical tool on the learning process is still a matter of debate. The past decade has seen the rapid development of web-based tools created for educational purposes. In parallel with these developments, researchers and educators have begun to show an increased interest in online homework systems in recent years in order to evaluate learning and to overcome the drawbacks of pen-and-paper homework. Many of the problems regarding traditional homework practices are experienced in university vocational schools in Turkey as well. This study aims to investigate the effects of online English as a Foreign Language (EFL) assignments on student success, and to identify students' views on online assignments in a university vocational school context. Participants of this experimental study were 49 first-grade students studying at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU) Gölhisar Vocational School (GVS). Of these students, 28 constituted the experimental group and 21 constituted the control group. The study was conducted in the spring term of the 2016-2017 academic year for a 12-week period. At the beginning of the study, a pre-test was applied to both groups. Next, five weekly assignments were given for the experimental group via Edmodo and for the control group as pen-and-paper homework. During the assignment process, semi-structured interviews were held with the participants in the experimental group about the online assignments they did. In the final week, the same pre-test applied at the beginning of the study was applied to both groups as a post-test. The effect of the assignments on student success was determined by comparing the two groups' pre-test and post-test results using quantitative methods and the attitudes of the students towards online assignments were determined by analysing the interviews held with the participants in the experimental group using qualitative methods. The findings revealed that assignments whether online or pen-and-paper increased students' success significantly. Moreover, the success improvement of the students who did online assignments was about double that of the students who were responsible for doing pen-and-paper assignments. The study also revealed that students usually have positive views on online assignments. The study concluded with suggestions that EFL teachers should give assignments in university vocational schools and that these assignments should be given as online since they are more instructive, motivating and enjoyable to do for students, as well as, more practical in terms of submission, checking, and grading. 165

Bu tanımlayıcı çalışma Türkçe konuşmayan lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora öğrencilerinin, Türkçeyi dil olarak öğrenme dersi ve dil öğrenme becerileri hakkında fikirlerini belirtmeyi hedefliyor. Bu çalışmanın katılımcıları ve hedefleri yerli olmayıp Türkçe konuşan ve Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak alan lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora öğrencileridir. Bu çalışmanın başlatılmasında üç ana neden var. Bunlardan ilki, araştırmacının TFL kursunda eğitimci olarak profosyonel bir pozisyonda olduğu gerçeğidir. İkinci sebep ise bu araştırmanın yürütüldüğü kurumda TFL için genel bir müfredat olmayışıdır. Üçüncü sebep ise TFL özellikle 20.yüzyılın sonlarında ortaya çıktığından geçmişte bu alanda yapılan çalışmalar derinlikleri ve kapsamları açısından sınırlıdır. Çalışma grubu anadili Türkçe olmayan Vakıf üniversitesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 52 öğrenciden oluşuyordu. Bu çalışma için bilgiler ''Türk dilinin yerli olmayan öğrencilerin fikrince değerlendirilmesi'' araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilmiştir. Tanımlayıcı analizlerden toplanan bilgileri analiz etmek için yararlanıldı. Sonuçlar alfabe ve yazma becerilerinin TFL öğrencilerinin en çok zorlukla karşılaştıkları alanlar olduğunu gösterdi. Anahtar kelimeler : TSL, Yerli-olmayanlarca Türk Dili, Türkçe Öğrenme becerileri This descriptive study aims to identify the opinions of non-Turkish speaking graduate and undergraduate students about Turkish as a Foreign Language (TFL) course and their language skills. The participants and targets of this study are non-native Turkish speaking graduate and undergraduate students who are studying Turkish as a foreign language. There were three main reasons which have propelled the carrying out of this particular research study. The first of these reasons the fact that the researcher holds a professional position as an instructor of the TFL course. The second reason is that there are no general curricula for TFL at the institution where this study is carried out. The third reason is that since TFL only emerged especially during the late 20th century the studies that have been undertaken in the past in relation to this area have been few as well as limited in their scope and depth. The study group of the study consisted of 52 Non-Native Students studying at a foundation university. The data for the study were collected via `The evaluation scale of Turkish Language in terms of Non-Native Students Opinions` developed by the researcher and the advisor. Descriptive analysis was made use to analyse the data gathered. The results showed that alphabet and writing skills were the areas where the TFL undergraduates encountered the most difficulty. Çalışmanın temel amacı Mobil Artırılmış Gerçeklik (MAG) ile zenginleştirilmiş materyallerin yabancı dil olarak İngilizce akademik yazma derslerinde öğrencilerin motivasyon, tutum ve düşüncelerine etkilerini belirlemektir. İstanbul Aydın Üniversitesi İngilizce Hazırlık Okulu'nun 70 A1 seviyesindeki sınıf öğrencileri araştırmaya katılmıştır. Araştırma'nın katılımcıları kontrol ve deney olarak iki gruba ayrılmıştır. Öğrencilerin daha önceki kur notları göz önünde bulundurulmuş ve seçilen grupların benzer Midterm, Elat ve yazı dersi notlarına sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Öğretim süreci hem 2017-2018 hem de 2018-2019 Akademik yıllarında tekrarlanmıştır. Her iki Akademik yılda deney grubu aynı öğretmen tarafından yönlendirilmiştir ve öğretim süreci sekiz hafta sürmüştür. Deney grubu Akademik Yazma derslerinde MAG ile zenginleştirilmiş materyallerden yararlanırken, kontrol grubu geleneksel yazı materyallerini kullanmıştır. MAG ile zenginleştirilmiş yazma materyallerinin yabancı dil olarak İngilizce yazma derslerinde öğrencilerin motivasyon ve tutumuna ne ölçüde etki ettiğini anlamak için karma yöntem kullanılmıştır. Veriler Payne'nin (2012) Akademik Yazı Motivasyon Anket'i, Keller'in (2010) Öğretim Materyali'ne İlişkin Motivasyon Ölçeği ve yarı yapılandırılmış öğrenci görüşmeleri kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Çalışmada dört aşamalı prosedür izlenmiştir : (1) IMMS ve AWMQ ön testlerinin uygulanması, (2) MAG materyallerinin uygulanması (3) IMMS ve AWMQ son testlerinin uygulanması ve son olarak (4) öğrencilerle görüşme. Çalışma sonuçları göstermiştir ki yabancı dil olarak İngilizce yazı ders materyalleri MAG ile zenginleştirildiğinde öğrencilerin içsel motivasyonu, etkinlik değerbilirliği, yazma etkinliklerine katılım istekliliği artmıştır. İkinci olarak, MAG ile zenginleştirilmiş materyaller öğrencilerin dışsal motivasyonunu arttırmış, yazının önemine yönelik bakış açılarını etkilemiş ve öğrencilerin kişisel farkındalıklarına katkıda bulunmuştur. Üçüncü olarak, bu materyaller öğrencilerin dikkat, öz güven ve memnuniyet düzeyine olumlu etki ettiğinden dolayı, öğrencilerin güdüsel tutumları ile olumlu ilişkilendirilmiştir. Son olarak, öğrenciler MAG ile zenginleştirilmiş materyallerin geleneksel yazma ders materyallerine göre daha cazip, büyüleyici, memnun edici, zevkli, ilgi çekici ve merak uyandırıcı olduğunu belirtmişlerdir.Anahtar kelimeler: Mobil Artırılmış Gerçeklik, Yabancı Dil Olarak İngilizce Yazma, Motivasyon, Tutum The main purpose of the present study is to determine the impact of Mobile Augmented Reality enhanced materials on students' motivation, attitude level and reflections in EFL academic writing classes. 70 A1 level English Preparatory School students of Istanbul Aydın University participated in this study. The participants of the study were divided into control and experimental groups. Students' previous track scores were taken into consideration and the chosen groups had similar Midterm, ELAT and writing scores. The instruction process was repeated both in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years. In both academic years, the experimental group was instructed by the same teacher and the instruction process lasted for eight weeks. The experimental group benefited from MAR enriched materials during academic writing classes, whereas the control group used traditional writing materials. In order to understand to what extent MAR adopted writing materials have an impact on learners' motivation and attitudes in EFL writing class, a mixed-methods research design was adopted. The data were provided via Academic Writing Motivation Questionnaire (Payne, 2012), Instructional Materials Motivation Survey by Keller, (2010) and semi-structured interview questions which were adopted from Küçük (2015). The study followed a four-step procedure including (1) application of IMMS and AWMQ pre-tests, (2) implementation of the MAR materials, (3) application of IMMS and AWMQ post-test, and finally (4) interviews with the students. The results of the study indicate that MAR enhanced EFL writing course materials increase students' intrinsic motivation, level of appreciation of the activities, and eagerness to engage in writing activities. Secondly, MAR integrated materials increase students' extrinsic motivation, affect their viewpoints regarding the cruciality of writing, contribute to students' personal recognition. Thirdly, these materials are positively correlated with learners' motivational attitudes as they have a positive impact on their attention, confidence and satisfaction level. Finally, students indicated that MAR integrated materials are more appealing, captivating, satisfying, enjoyable, attention gathering and engaging compared to traditional writing class materials.Keywords: Mobile Augmented Reality, EFL Writing, Motivation, Attitude 145

Bu çalışma İngilizce'yi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen Türk üniversite öğrencilerinin İngilizce öğrenme çabaları, ideal ikinci dil benliği, zorunlu ikinci dil benliği, aile etkisi, İngilizce öğrenmeye karşı tutumları ve etnik merkezciliği bakımından İkinci Dil Öğreniminde Motivasyon Benlik Sistemini araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Ayrıca bir diğer amaç cinsiyet faktörünün ve öğrencilerin bölümlerinin motivasyonları üzerine bir etkisinin olup olmadığının incelenmesidir. Bu çalışma özel olarak da Dörnyei'nin (2005, 2009) İkinci Dil Öğreniminde Motivasyon Benlik Sisteminin, Türk üniversite öğrencilerine uygun olup olmadığını araştırmayı hedeflemektedir. Hazırlık sınıfı öğrencilerine iki bölümden oluşan "İngilizce Öğrenci Anketi" uygulanmıştır. Anketin ilk bölümü katılımcıların cinsiyeti, bölümü ve yaşı gibi demografik bilgileri içermektedir. İkinci bölüm öğrencilerin İngilizce öğrenimine ilişkin motivasyon ve tutumlarını ölçen 69 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışma 2018-2019 akademik yılı, güz döneminde, Fırat Üniversitesi Yabancı Diller Yüksekokulunda yürütüldü. 158 katılımcıdan elde edilen veri SPSS 23.0 sürümünden faydanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Betimsel analiz yöntemi ile katılımcıların İkinci Dil Motivasyon Benlik Sistemi değişkenleri belirlenmiş ve analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca bu değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi tespit etmek için Pearson Korelasyon Katsayı analizi yapılmıştır. Daha sonra cinsiyet faktörünün ve öğrencilerin bölümlerinin motivasyonları üzerine etkisini tespit etmek için bağımsız grup t-test yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar öğrencilerin güçlü bir ideal ikinci dil benliğine sahip olduğunu, İngilizce öğrenimine karşı olumlu tutum geliştirdiklerini ve İngilizceyi öğrenmek için sarfettikleri çaba bakımından bir hayli motive olduklarını göstermektedir. Öğrencilerin motivasyonu açısından zorunlu ikinci dil benliği ve aile etkisi orta derecede bulunmuştur. Bu iki değişkenin yalnızca birbiri ile ilişkili olduğu ve öğrencilerin öğrenme çabaları üzerine etkilerinin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin etnik merkezciliğinin çok düşük olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Cinsiyet faktörünün ve öğrencilerin bölümlerinin İngilizce öğrenme çabaları, ideal ikinci dil benliği, İngilizce öğrenmeye karşı tutumları ve etnik merkezciliği üzerinde istatistiksel olarak önemli farklılıklar gösterdikleri tespit edilmiştir. Fakat öğrencilerin zorunlu ikinci dil benliği ve aile etkisi üzerinde, cinsiyet ve bölüm bakımından istatistiksel olarak bir farklılık bulunmamaktadır. Sistemin bir öğesi olan zorunlu ikinci dil benliğinin, öğrencilerin öğrenme çabaları ile bağlantısız olduğu belirlendiği için Dörnyei'nin İkinci Dil Motivasyon Benlik Sistemi'nin bu çalışmadaki katılımcılara kısmen uygun olduğu görülmüştür., This study aims to investigate L2 Motivational Self System of tertiary level Turkish EFL learners in terms of their intended efforts to learn English, ideal L2 self, ought-to L2 self, family influence, attitudes toward learning English, and ethnocentrism. Furthermore, another objective is to examine the effect of gender and department they study on their motivational variables. This study also specifically aims to investigate whether Dörnyei's (2005, 2009) L2 Motivational Self System fits well with the language learning motivation of Turkish EFL learners at tertiary level. English Learner Questionnaire was administered to Turkish students at preparatory classes. The questionnaire consisted of two parts. The first part was composed of background information about the participants, including their gender, major and ages. The second part consisted of statement-type 69 items measuring the learners' attitudes and motivation concerning English learning. The study was carried out in the School of Foreign Languages at Fırat University in the fall semester of the 2018-2019 academic years. Data of 158 participants were used for analysis, and the statistical analysis was performed by utilising The Statistical Package for Social Sciences software program 23.0 (SPSS). Descriptive statistics was used to determine and analyse the variables of L2 motivational self-system of the participants. Furthermore, Pearson Correlation Coefficient (PCC) analysis was done in order to find out the relations among the variables of L2MSS. Then independent samples t-test was used to find out the effect of gender and the department the students study on their motivational variables. The results of the study suggest that Turkish tertiary level students have strong ideal L2 self and positive attitudes toward learning English, and they are highly motivated in terms of their intended efforts to learn it. Students' ought-to L2 self and family influence were found to be moderate and they correlated only with each other. It was seen that ought-to L2 self and family influence do not have an effect on the learners' motivated behaviours. As for ethnocentrism, the participants of this study were noticed to be less ethnocentric. Significant differences between genders and departments were established in terms of the students' intended efforts to learn English, ideal L2 self, attitudes toward learning English, and ethnocentrism. However, gender differences and departments the students study were found to have no effect on the students' ought-to L2 self and family influence scores. It was seen that Dörnyei's L2MSS partially fits with the participants in this study because ought-to L2 self component of the system proved to be unrelated to the learners motivated behaviour.

Betimsel bir çalışma olarak nitelendirilebilecek olan bu araştırmanın temel amacı İngilizce hazırlık bölümü öğrencilerinin sistemsel düşünme becerileri ile yazma becerileri (yazma becerisinin öğeleri olan içerik, organizasyon, dil bilgisi, kelime bilgisi ve teknik bilgi) arasındaki ilişkinin araştırılmasıdır. Ayrıca, çalışma grubunu oluşturan öğrencilere ilişkin yaş, cinsiyet, mezun olunan lise türü ve üniversiteye giriş sınavı puan türü değişkenleri de, sistemsel düşünme düzeyleri açısından ele alınmıştır. Tezin çalışma grubunu İstanbul ilindeki bir üniversitenin hazırlık bölümünde eğitim gören öğrenciler (N=394) oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma için gerekli olan veriler; araştırmacının geliştirdiği `Demografik Bilgi Formundan,` söz konusu üniversiteden özel izinle temin edilen yazma sınavı skorlarından ve araştırmacı tarafından İngilizce aslından Türkçe'ye uyarlanan `Sistemsel Düşünme Ölçeğinden` elde edilmiştir. Verilerin analizi için, SPSS ve LISREL yazılımları aracılığıyla betimsel istatistikler, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe testleri ve regresyon analizleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın temel sonuçları şu şekilde özetlenebilir:Hazırlık öğrencilerinin, maksimum skoru 80 olan sistemsel düşünme ölçeğinden aldıkları puanlara göre, sistemsel düşünme becerilerine (SDB) ilişkin ortalama puanıX̅̅=50.01dir.Öğrencilerin SDB skorlarında, yaş değişkenine (p=.106, p>.05) ve cinsiyet değişkenine göre (p=.763, p>.05) istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamaktadır.SDB skorları, lise türü (p=.012, p.05) and gender variable (p=.763, p>.05). İngilizce öğretmenleri, öğrencilerin dil öğrenme sürecinde şüphesiz çok önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu noktada öğretmenlerin kendilerini mesleki anlamda nasıl algıladıkları ve veliler tarafından nasıl algılandığı eğitimin verimliliği açısından önem teşkil etmektedir. Çünkü bu algılar dil eğitimini kolaylaştırıcı veya engelleyici araçlar olabilir. Toplumun İngilizce öğretmenliğini nasıl algıladığı öğretmenlerin motivasyonları, kendilerini işe adamaları, mesleklerini nasıl yaptıkları, öğrenci kazanımları gibi birçok açıdan öğretmenler üzerinde etkilidir. Bu anlamda ulusal ve uluslararası alanda algılara dair çalışmalar bulunmakla birlikte karşılaştırmalı bir analize rastlanmamıştır. Tüm bunları göz önüne alarak mevcut çalışmayla Bursa'daki 123 İngilizce öğretmeni, 71 İngilizce öğretmen adayı ve 129 veliyle karşılaştırmalı bir çalışma yürütmek adına algılarını ölçmek üzere geliştirilen Likert-tipli ve açık uçlu sorular içeren1 ölçek ve 2 anket üzerinden dijital ortamda kartopu örneklerimi uygulanıp nitel ve nicel verilere ulaşarak karma yöntem araştırma yöntemi dahilinde analizler yapılmıştır. Gönüllü katılıma dayalı çalışma verileri Temmuz-Ekim 2018 tarihleri arasında toplanmış olup, veriler SPSS ve içerik analizleri ile çözümlenmiştir. Analizler göstermektedir ki İngilizce öğretmenleri ve öğretmen adayları mesleki statüleri anlamında olumlu algılara sahip olmalarına rağmen çalışma şartları büyük bir çoğunluğunu mutsuz etmektedir. Neredeyse öğretmenlerin yarısı İngilizce öğretmeni olmayı toplumsal fayda sağlama amacıyla seçmiş olup kariyer tercihlerinden memnun görünmektedirler. Ancak mesleklerinin değerinin azalması neticesiyle hak ettikleri değeri görmediklerini düşünmektedirler. Without doubt, English teachers play an ineluctable role in the learning processes of students. Therefore, how teachers perceive themselves and how they are perceived by parents professionally bear great significance for the efficiency of education systems because these perceptions may enable or hinder language teaching. How the society perceive English teachers closely affect teachers in terms of shaping their motivations, their devotion to the profession, how they perform in the classroom, and student achievements. In this respect, there are various national or international studies on perceptions; yet to the researcher's knowledge there is no comprehensive and comparative study of perceptions of the three groups. Considering all, the current study aims to present a comparative analysis with 123 in-service English teachers, 71 pre-service English teachers, and 129 parents. Accordingly, in order to investigate the perceptions of participants on relevant issues, 1 scale and 2 questionnaires with open-ended questions were developed by the researcher. The scale and the questionnaires are prepared as Likert-type instruments. As a part of mixed-methods research model, the qualitative and quantitative data were collected online first via convenience sampling and then via snowball sampling. Based on voluntary participation, the data were collected from July to October, 2018 and were analyzed via SPSS and content analysis. In the light of the results, in-service and pre-service teachers hold positive perceptions about their professional status despite the fact that working conditions make the majority unhappy. Almost half of the participants chose to be a teacher owing to social utility values with contentment of their career choice. However, teachers seem to suffer from a status deficit due to undervaluing of their profession by society. 98

Türkiye'de okullarda verilen İngilizce eğitiminin iletişimde kendini ifade edemeyen, daha çok yazıp okuyabilen fakat konuşma becerisi sergileyemeyen bireyler ile sonuçlanması probleminin yıllarca engellenememiş olması sebebi ile konuşma becerisini kazandırmada yetersiz kalındığı gözlemlenmektedir. Konuşma becerisinin öğretimi ve değerlendirilmesinin diğer dil becerilerine kıyasla biraz daha karmaşık bir yapıya sahip olması bu becerinin öğretiminin, değerlendirilmesinin ve bu alanda yapılan araştırmaların daha kısıtlı olmasına sebep olmuştur. Bu çalışma bir Anadolu lisesinde 10. Sınıf öğrencilerinin girdi ve çıktı odaklı verilen eğitim sonunda konuşma becerisi üzerindeki gelişimi ve anlaşılabilir çıktının konuşma becerisi üzerindeki rolünü göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu araştırma 2018-2019 eğitim yılında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada ön-test ve sontest deseni ve deneysel araştırma modeli uygulanmıştır. Araştırma 4 hafta eğitim süreci ve 1 hafta ön test ve son testi uygulamak sureti ile toplam beş hafta sürmüştür. Kontrol grup girdi grubu, deney grubu olan ikinci grup girdi-çıktı grubu ve üçüncü grup ise çıktı-girdi-çıktı grubu olarak belirlenmiştir Katılımcılar 47 kişiden oluşan 10. Sınıf öğrencileridir. Girdi grubu ve çıktı-girdi-çıktı grubu 16 kişiden oluşmuştur. Girdi-çıktı grubu ise 15 kişiden oluşmuştur.. Her grupta kazanımlar aynı fakat dersin işleniş biçimleri farklıdır. Araştırmanın verileri öntest ve sontest yolu ile toplanmıştır. Testlerde katılımcılardan konuşma etkinliklerini gerçekleştirmeleri istenmiş ve konuşmalar kayıt altına alınmıştır. Konuşmalar sözel beceriyi değerlendirme ölçeği ile değerlendirilmiş ve öntest ile sontest sonuçları SPSS 25 sürümü, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Dunn-Bofferoni ve Wilcoxon Signed Ranks testleri ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, girdi grubunun gelişiminde çok az ilerleme görülürken deney gruplarında önemli derecede ilerleme gözlemlenmiştir. In Turkey, it has been observed for many years that there exist many inadequacies in the acquisition of speaking skill. The problem of ending up with learners who can read and write to some extent but who cannot express themselves and demonstrate speaking skills at the end of the teaching processes of English courses at schools has not been solved. The fact that the teaching and evaluation of speaking skill has a slightly more complex structure when compared to other language skills has led to much more limited teaching and evaluation of this skill. This study aims to indicate the role of comprehensible output on speaking skill and the development of speaking skill of 47 10th grade students in an Anatolian high school at the end of the input and output based instruction. The study was conducted in 2018-2019 academic year. Experimental research model with pre and post-test design was utilized in the study. The research lasted five weeks in total with four weeks' implementation and one week for the pre-test and post-test. Participants were 47 10th grade students and they were placed randomly to three groups. In input-group and input-output-input group, there were 16 participants. In input-output group, there were 15 participants. The control group was defined as input group whereas experimental groups were defined input-output group and output-input-output group. The targeted objectives were the same for each group. On the other hand, the implementation in each group differed from each other. The data were collected through pre-test and post-test. The participants were assigned to produce the language in tests and the whole speech was audio-recorded by the researcher. The speech of learners was assessed through oral production rating scale. In data analysis, using SPSS 25.0 statistical package, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Dunn-Bofferoni and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks tests were utilized. The results of the study indicated that input group achieved a slight progress whereas a significant progress in enhancing speaking skill was observed in the experimental groups. Biçimlendirici değerlendirme yönteminin önemi gün geçtikçe daha çok anlaşılmaktadır. Bu değerlendirme yöntemi öğretmenlere öğrencilerinin öğrenmelerinin daha etkin hale gelmesi konusunda bir veri toplama kaynağı olmuştur. Biçimlendirici değerlendirmenin dersin her aşamasında kullanılabilir olması dersin verimli ve işlevsel bir şekilde işlenmesi kapsamında öğrencilere önemli katkılar sağlamaktadır. Elde edilen veriler kapsamında dönüt sağlanır, ders düzenlemesi yapılır ve daha etkin öğrenme ürünlerine ulaşılır. Öğrenciler öğrenme sürecine dâhil olur, kendi öğrenmelerinden sorumlu bir birey olarak gelişimlerini takip eder ve öğrenme açıklarını kapatma fırsatına sahip olurlar. Yabancı dilde yazma kaygısı öğrencilerin en çok sıkıntı yaşadığı problemlerden bir tanesidir. Bu yüzden mevcut çalışma, İngilizceyi yabancı dil olarak alan öğrencilerin yazma becerilerindeki kaygılarının biçimlendirici değerlendirme yöntemiyle ne ölçüde değişip değişmediğini ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlamıştır. Bu çalışma, üniversite 2. sınıf öğrencilerine yönelik 30 kişi üzerinde yapılan bir eylem araştırma çalışmasını içermektedir. Veri toplama ve değerlendirme sürecinde anket, görüşme, yıldız ve alan notları kullanılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular ışığında, biçimlendirici değerlendirme kullanımının yabancı dil öğrenen öğrencilerin yazma kaygılarını önemli ölçüde azalttığı saptanmıştır, The importance of formative assessment method is ever so increasing day by day. This method of evaluation has been an effective data collection source for teachers and enhancing the efficiency of students' education. The fact that formative assessment can be used in all phases of the lesson contributes dearly to the students to receive the contents of the class in a more productive and functional manner. Within the scope of the obtained data from formative assessment, feedback is provided, course arrangement is made and more effective learning products are reached. Students would have the chance to be a proactive part of the learning process and come out to be a more responsible person thus having the chance to make up for the deficit in their education. Writing in a foreign language is one of the major topics that students are having problems with. For this reason, the present study aims to expose to what extend the anxiety of writing skill of the learners of English as a foreign language change with the formative assessment method. This study which was conducted with 30 students includes an action research study for sophomores. In the course of data collection and evaluation process survey, interview, stars and field notes have been used. In the light of the findings obtained from the study, it was found that the use of formative assessment significantly reduced the writing anxiety of the students who learn English as a foreign language.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmen adaylarının yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimleri ile İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumları arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Bu araştırma, 2016 - 2017 eğitim - öğretim yılının bahar döneminde Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi dördüncü sınıfta öğrenim gören 475 (kadın= 340, erkek= 135) öğretmen adayının katılımıyla yapılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimlerini ölçmek için Coşkun Diker (2009) tarafından geliştirilen `Yaşam Boyu Öğrenme Eğilimleri Ölçeği` kullanılmıştır. Ölçek, motivasyon, sebat, öğrenmeyi düzenlemede yoksunluk ve merak yoksunluğu olmak üzere dört boyuttan oluşmaktadır. Öğretmen adaylarının İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumlarını ölçmek için ise Gömleksiz (2003) tarafından geliştirilen `İngilizce Dersine İlişkin Duyuşsal Alan Tutum Ölçeği` kullanılmıştır. Ölçeklerden elde edilen veriler SPSS-23 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. SPSS 23 Programı ile ölçeklerdeki maddelerin yüzde, frekans, aritmetik ortalama ve standart sapma değerleri hesaplanmış, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann - Whitney U, Kruskal - Wallis H Testleri yapılmış ve Spearman Sıra Farkları Korelasyon Katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, öğretmen adaylarının yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimleri ve İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumları orta seviyeden yüksek düzeydedir. Yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimleri ölçeği puanlarına göre cinsiyet değişkeninde kadın öğretmen adayları lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. İngilizce dersine yönelik tutum puanlarına göre ise ölçeğin `Kullanışlılık` alt boyutunda cinsiyet değişkeni açısından kadın öğretmen adayları lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Öğretmen adayları arasında, yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimleri puanlarına ve İngilizce dersine yönelik tutum puanlarına göre öğrenim gördükleri bölüm değişkeni açısından Türkçe Eğitimi, Sosyal Bilimler Eğitimi ve Yabancı Diller Eğitimi bölümlerinde öğrenim gören öğretmen adayları lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Mezun oldukları lise türü değişkenine göre öğretmen adayları arasında yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimleri puanlarına göre anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmazken, İngilizce dersine yönelik tutum puanlarına göre, ölçeğin `Güven` alt boyutunda Anadolu Lisesi ve Anadolu Öğretmen Lisesinden mezun olan öğretmen adayları lehine anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur. Bu araştırmanın sonucunda, öğretmen adaylarının yaşam boyu öğrenme eğilimleri ile İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumları arasında pozitif yönde orta düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. This research was carried out with 475 (female=340, male=135) senior prospective teachers studying various majors at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, Faculty of Education in the spring semester of 2016 - 2017 academic year. To measure the lifelong learning tendencies of the prospective teachers, `Lifelong Learning Tendencies Scale` developed by Coşkun Diker (2009) and to measure prospective teachers' attitudes towards English course, `Attitude Scale on Affective Domain in English Classes` developed by Gömleksiz (2003) were used. For the analysis of the data collected during the study, SPSS 23 Program was used. Through SPSS 23 Program the percentage and frequency values, the mean and standard deviation scores of the items in the scales were calculated, and Kolmogorov - Smirnov, Mann - Whitney U, Kruskal - Wallis H Tests were performed and Spearman Correlation Coefficient was calculated. The findings of the study revealed that lifelong learning tendencies and attitudes of prospective teachers towards English course are above the moderate level. While a significant difference was found in favor of female prospective teachers in gender variable according to the lifelong learning tendencies scale scores, a significant difference was found in favor of female prospective teachers in gender variable in `Usefulness` subdimension of the scale according to prospective teachers' attitudes scores towards English course. A significant difference was found in department variable in favor of prospective teachers studying in Turkish Education, Social Studies Education and Foreign Language Education departments according to the lifelong learning tendencies scores and prospective teachers' attitudes scores towards English course. While considering the variable of high school types of graduation, no significant difference was found among prospective teachers according to the lifelong learning tendencies scores, a significant difference was found in favor of Anatolian High School and Anatolian Teacher High School graduates in `Trust` subdimension of the scale considering the attitudes scores towards English course. The findings of the research indicated a significant, positive and a moderate level relationship between prospective teachers' lifelong learning tendencies and attitudes towards English course. Laroche, Kim ve Clarke (1997), etnik kökenin, farklı kökenlere sahip insanların tutum ve davranışlarını belirleyen önemli bir güç olduğunu vurgulamaktadır. Ellis (2008), öğrencilerin hedef dil kültürüne yönelik tutumlarının yabancı dil edinim düzeyini etkilediğini iddia etmektedir, çünkü yabancı dil edinimi, hedef dile, hedef dil konuşmacılarına, hedef dil kültürüne, sosyal değere yönelik tutumlarla ve kendi kültürlerine karşı olan tutumlarıyla ilgilidir. Bu bağlamda, bu çalışmada çok etnik gruptan oluşan katılımcı gruplarının yabancı dil öğrenmeye yönelik tutumları incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, çok kültürlü bir ortamda yetiştirilen ve uluslararası okullarda öğrenim gören ve şu anda yabancı bir ülkede yaşayan çok dilli / çok kültürlü bireyler arasında kültürel / etnik kimlik ile yabancı dil öğreniminin motivasyon özellikleri arasındaki ilişkiyi bulmaktır. Bu çalışmada, data uluslararası katılımcıların çeşitli ırksal ve kültürel / etnik kökenlerini öğrenmek amacıyla uygulanan demografik veri anketi, Phinney'in (1992) evrensel etnik kimlik ölçütü olarak kabul edilen (Thompson, 2016) anketi olan Çok Gruplu Etnik Kimlik Ölçümü (MEIM) ve Dörnyei & Clement (2001) tarafından Farklı Dilleri Öğrenmenin Motive Edici Özellikleri (karmaşık bir süreç olarak bilinen kapsamlı bir motivasyon yapısı verisine ulaşmak için) anketleri dağıtarak toplanmıştır. Toplanan verilerdeki değişkenleri, ortalamaları, yüzdeleri ve genel eğilimleri tanımlayarak araştırma sorularını cevaplayabilen verileri yorumlamak için tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanılmıştır. Buna göre, bu güncel çalışma, çok kültürlü katılımcıların kendi etnik kimlikleriyle ilişkilendirildiği ve kendi kültürel kimlikleri hakkında olumlu görüşlerinin bulunduğunu ortaya çıkarmıştır. Öte yandan, yabancı dil öğrenmenin oryantasyonlari yüksek bulunmasına rağmen, asimilasyon korkusuyla karşı karşıyadırlar. Son olarak, katılımcıların kültürel kimlikleri konusundaki olumlu tutumları arttıkça, yabancı dil öğrenmeye yönelik tutumları azalmaktadır. Ayrıca, katılımcıların etnik kimlik arayışları artarken yabancı dil öğrenmeye yönelik olumlu tutumlarının azaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Laroche, Kim & Clarke (1997) emphasize that ethnicity is an important force that determines the attitudes and behaviors of people of different backgrounds. Ellis (2008) claims that learners' attitudes toward the culture of target language have an impact on the level of L2 acquisition because L2 acquisition is related with the attitudes towards the target language, target-language speakers, the target language culture, the social value of learning L2, particular uses of the target language, and themselves as members of their own culture. In this context, the attitudes of multi-ethnic groups of participants towards foreign language learning were investigated. The aim of the present study is to find out the relationship between cultural/ethnic identity and motivational characteristics of foreign language learning among multilingual/multicultural individuals who were raised in a multicultural environment and have studied in international schools, and currently reside in in a foreign country. The data collected through a demographic data questionnaire that was administered to see the various racial and cultural/ethnic backgrounds of the international participants, the Multi-group Ethnic Identity Measure (MEIM) by Phinney(1992) which is accepted as universal ethnic identity measure (Thompson, 2016), and the Motivational Characteristics of Learning Different Languages (MCFLL) by Dörnyei & Clement (2001) to reach a comprehensive motivational construct data which is known as a complex process. Descriptive statistics were used to interpret the data to be able to answer the research questions by describing variables, means, percentages and general inclinations in the collected data. Accordingly, this current study found out that the multicultural participants were found to be attached to their own ethnic identities and have positive opinion about their own cultural identities. On the other hand, even if they have a high orientation which is the reason/s to learn a foreign language, they are facing with the fear of assimilation. Lastly, as the positive attitudes of the participants on their cultural identities increase, their attitudes towards learning foreign languages decrease. Additionally, it was found out that while participants' ethnic identity search increases, their positive attitude toward foreign language learning decreases. 139

Son yıllarda dil öğrenimi amaçlı mobil uygulamalar mobil marketlerde yerini almaktadır. Tüm bunların arasında, katmanlı rastgele yöntemle, bu araştırmayı yürütmek amacıyla 8 mobil uygulama seçilmiştir ve 4 bölümden meydana gelen mülakatlar yoluyla kullanıcı arayüz tasarımı açısından 11 İngilizce öğretmeni tarafından değerlendirilmiştir. Buradan gelen veriler dil öğrenimi için hedefe yönelik bir mobil uygulamanın nasıl olması gerektiğini, seçilen uygulamalar arasında dil öğrenimi için hiç bir uygulamanın arayüz tasarıma sahip olup olmadığını ve dil öğrenimi amaçlı mobil uygulamaların hangi belirgin özelliklerin olacağını belirlemek için analiz yapılmıştır. Sürecin sonunda, İngilizce öğretmenleri dil öğrenimi amaçlı mobil uygulamaların tasarımına katkıda bulunan bir esaslar listesi önerisi sağlamışlardır. İlaveten, her uygulamanın kendine ait hedef kullanıcılarının, yani öğrencilerinin, uygulamanın amaç ve özelliklerini şekillendirebileceği belirtilebilir. ABSTRACTMobile technologies have been gaining popularity day by day, thanks to internet boom, in language learning like many other field. In recent years many language learning purposed mobile applications has taken place in mobile markets. Among all, in a stratified random way, 8 mobile applications for learning language were selected to conduct this study and they were evaluated through the view of user interface design (UID) principles about educational mobile applications by 11 English Language Teachers (ELTs) with the help of an interview composed of 4 parts. The data from the interview was analyzed to determine what a screen design of a goal-oriented mobile application should be like to learn languages, if any interface design of the stratified random selected mobile applications meets the needs of screen design of a mobile application to learn languages, and what the certain features of the mobile application interfaces to learn languages are. At the end of the process, the evaluations of ELTs lead to deduce a list of principles for designing language learning purposed mobile applications. Additionally, it can be stated that each application with its each target user, in another word learner, can shape the aims and many features of the interface design. Bu araştırmanın amacı ikinci/ yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenenlerin sözel hatalarına ilişkin öğretici tercihleri ve tutumlarının nasıl olduğunu ortaya koymaktır. Bu noktadan hareketle çalışmada öğrenicilerin başlangıç ve orta düzeylerinde ne tür hatalar yaptıkları, öğreticilerin hangi düzeltme geri bildirimlerini tercih ettikleri ve öğrenici tepkileri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma türlerinden olan gözlem ve görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri tabanını oluşturmak amacıyla Ankara'da bulunan Özel Mengütaş Dil Eğitim Merkezi'nden başlangıç ve orta düzey; Gazi Üniversitesi TÖMER'den (Türkçe Öğretim Merkezi) sadece orta düzeylerdeki sınıflarda gözlem yapılmış ve sınıflardan ses kaydı alınmıştır. Başlangıç ve orta düzeylerinde beşer sınıf olmak üzere toplam 10 sınıftan ses kaydı alınmıştır. Ayrıca geri bildirim tercihlerinin anlaşılması maksadıyla 8 öğreticiyle mülakat yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler ışığında, öğrenicilerin sözel iletişim süreçlerindeki hataları, Ranta ve Lyster'ın (1997) düzeltme geri bildirim stratejileri temelinde incelenmiştir. Sınıf içi gözlemler sonucunda elde edilen verilere göre öğrenicilerin başlangıç düzeyinde en çok söz dizimsel ve ses bilgisel hatalar; orta düzeyde ise söz dizimsel ve sözcüksel hatalar yaptığı gözlemlenmiştir. Sınıf içi gözlemlerde başlangıç düzeyinde en çok tercih edilen geri bildirimler açık düzeltme, söyletim ve üst dilsel geri bildirimken; orta düzeyde açık düzeltme ve yeniden biçimlendirme stratejileridir. Mülakatta verilen cevaplar incelendiğinde öğreticiler başlangıç düzeyinde açık düzeltme, yeniden biçimlendirme ve tekrar etme; orta düzeyde ise üst dilsel geri bildirim, söyletim ve açıklığa kavuşturma talebini sıklıkla kullandıklarını ifade etmiştir. Ancak öğreticiler tarafından uygulamalarda ve mülakatta tercih edilen geri bildirimlerin aralarında tutarlılık olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Konuşma hatalarına yönelik geri bildirim verme sıklığı incelendiğinde uygun zamanda ve uygun şekilde verilen düzeltme geri bildirimlerinin öğreniciler üzerinde olumlu bir etkide bulunduğu kanısına varılmıştır. Ayrıca konuşma akıcılığını bozmamak ve öğreniciyi konuşmaya güdülemek amacıyla öğreticilerin her konuşma hatasına düzeltme geri bildirimi vermemesi gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır. The aim of this study is to show what the instructors' preferences and attitudes towards oral errors of the learners of Turkish as a second / foreign language. From this point of view; what kind of errors were made at the beginner and intermediate levels of the learners, what are the feedback desires of the instructors preferred, and the learner responses were examined.In the study, observation and interview technique, one of the qualitative research types, was used. In order to establish the data base of the study, starting from Mengütaş Language Training Center in Ankara; at Gazi University TÖMER (Turkish Teaching Center), beginner and intermediate classes were observed and audio recordings were obtained from the classes. A total of 10 classes of audio recordings were taken at the beginner and intermediate levels. In addition, 8 instructors were interviewed in order to identify feedback preferences. In the light of the data obtained, the errors of the learners in verbal communication processes were examined on the basis of the correction feedback strategies of Ranta and Lyster (1997).According to the data obtained as a result of observations in the classroom, the most syntactic and phonological errors at the beginner level of the learners; and at the intermediate level, it was observed that the learners made syntactic and lexical errors. In class observations, the most preferred feedbacks at beginner level are explicit correction, elicitation and metalinguistical feedback; moderately explicit correction and recast strategies. When the answers given in the interview are examined, the instructors prefer explicit correction, recast and repetition feedback at the beginner level; at the intermediate level, they stated that they frequently use metalinguistical feedback, elicitation and clarification request. However, it was determined by the instructors that the preferred feedback in the classes and interviews was not consistent.When the frequency of giving feedback for oral errors was examined, it was concluded that the corrective and appropriate correction feedbacks had positive effect on the learners. In addition, it was concluded that the instructors should not give correction feedback to each oral error in order to prevent the fluency of speech and to motivate the learner to speak.Key Words:Error, mistake, oral errors, corrective feedbacks. 108

Bu araştırmada, görev kaynaklı katılım yükü, veri biçimi ve yabancı dil seviyesinin İngilizce'yi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen Türk öğrencilerin algısal ve üretimsel sözcük bilgisi üzerindeki etkilerini araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Başka bir deyişle, bu araştırma farklı görev katılım yüklerine sahip ya da aynı görev katılım yükü fakat farklı veri biçimlerini (yazılı ya da görsel-işitsel) içeren aktivitelerin farklı dil seviyelerinde rastlantısal sözcük edinimini nasıl etkilediğini araştırmıştır. Çalışmada ikincil olarak ise Görev Kaynaklı Katılım Yükü Hipotezi'nin (Laufer ve Hulstijn, 2001) aktivite verimliliği ve ikinci yabancı dilde kelime öğrenimi ile ilgili varsayımları test edilerek hipoteze ampirik bulgularla katkıda bulunmak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi Türkiye'de bir devlet üniversitesinin hazırlık okulunda Yoğun İngilizce Programı'na kayıtlı İngilizce'yi yabancı dil olarak (alt- veya üst-orta dil seviyesinde) öğrenen 236 Türk öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Veriler 2016-2017 akademik yılının bahar döneminde iki dil seviyesine de uygulanan birkaç ölçeğin kullanılması ile toplanmıştır: 2 video yayını, 2 okuma parçası, 12 kelime aktivitesi (her seviye için 6), 2 kelime ön testi ve 4 üretimsel ve algısal kelime son testi. Aktivite sonrası hemen yapılan kelime son testleri ve kalıcılık kelime son testlerinden elde edilen nicel veriler SPSS 23.0 kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar, boşluk doldurma aktivitesinin yazılı veri biçimi ile, cümle yazma aktivitesinin ise görsel-işitsel veri biçimi ile eşleşmesinin üretimsel sözcük bilgisi açısından her iki dil seviyesinde de daha etkili olduğunu göstermiştir. Algısal sözcük bilgisine gelince, her iki dil seviyesi için de veri biçimi fark etmeksizin cümle yazma aktivitesinin (daha yüksek görev katılım yüklü) boşluk doldurma aktivitesinden (daha düşük görev katılım yüklü) daha etkili olduğu, fakat görsel-işitsel veri biçiminin üst-orta dil seviyesindeki öğrenciler arasında daha fazla algısal kelime edinimini sağladığı görülmüştür. Bu bulgular Görev Kaynaklı Katılım Yükü Hipotezi'nin algısal sözcük bilgisine dair varsayımlarını kısmen doğrularken, veri biçiminin üretimsel sözcük bilgisini artırmada oynadığı role de ayrıca dikkat çekmiştir. Son olarak, araştırmanın bulguları ilgili alanyazına değinilerek tartışılmış ve dil öğretmenleri ve materyal geliştirenler için eğitimsel önerilerde bulunulmuştur. In other words, the present study investigated how variously loaded tasks or tasks with the same involvement load but different input modalities (written vs. audiovisual) affect incidental vocabulary acquisition at different proficiency levels. The secondary aim was to provide empirical evidence to the Involvement Load Hypothesis (Laufer & Hulstijn, 2001) by testing its assumptions regarding task efficacy and L2 vocabulary learning. Data were collected with the use of several instruments administered to the two proficiency groups in the spring term of 2016-2017 academic year: 2 video podcasts, 2 reading passages, 12 vocabulary tasks (6 per level), 2 vocabulary pre-tests and 4 productive and receptive vocabulary post-tests. The quantitative data that came from the immediate and delayed vocabulary post-tests were analyzed using SPSS 23.0. The results showed that for productive word knowledge, the pairing of the gap filling task with the written input and the pairing of the sentence writing task with the audiovisual input were more effective for both proficiency levels. As for receptive word knowledge, the sentence writing task (higher involvement load) was more effective than the gap filling task (lower involvement load) for both proficiency levels regardless of input type, but the audiovisual input fostered more receptive word knowledge among the upper-intermediate learners. While these findings partially confirmed the predictions of the ILH for receptive word knowledge, they also highlighted the role that input modality plays in increasing productive word knowledge. Finally, the findings of the study were discussed in relation to the relevant literature and several pedagogical suggestions were made for language teachers and material developers. Bu çalışmanın amacı sosyal ve demografik faktörlerin Türk üniversite öğrencilerinin ikinci yabancı dillerindeki özbenlik algılarına nasıl etki ettiğini anlamak ve bu özbenlik algılarının birbirileriyle nasıl bir etkileşim içerisinde olduğuna dair fikir sahibi olmaktır. Buna ek olarak, bu çalışma öğrencilerin demografik geçmişlerinin öğrenme oryantasyonlarına ve İngilizce sınıfına dair algılarına olan etkisini araştırmayı gözetmektedir. Türkiye'de birçok üniversitenin eğitim dili İngilizce olup, birçok öğrenci üniversite hayatları boyunca İngilizce öğrenmek için çabalamaktadır. Öğrencilerin motivasyon kaynaklarını ve ikinci yabancı dillerindeki özbenlik algılarının şekillendiren faktörleri anlamak bu öğrencilerin daha verimli bir ikinci yabancı dil öğrenme deneyimi yaşamalarında büyük önem teşkil etmektedir. Bu çalışma Türkiye'nin batısında bir özel üniversitede yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya 136 öğrenci katılım göstermiştir. Bunların 76'sı kız 63'ü erkek öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Bulgular öğrencilerin demografik faktörlerinin özel özbenlik ve ideal özbenlik algılamalarına, öğrenme oryantasyonlarına ve İngilizce sınıfına dair algılamalarına olumlu etki ettiğini göstermiştir. Ek olarak, öğrencilerin ikinci yabancı dillerindeki özbenlik algılarının birbirileriyle etkileşim içerisinde oldukları gözlemlenmiştir. The present study aims to gain insight into the social and demographic factors that help form the perceived L2 selves of Turkish University students and how these perceived L2 selves interact with one another. In addition, the study seeks to investigate whether there is a relationship between learners' demographic background and their learning orientation and perceptions of the English class. In Turkey, the medium of instruction is English in many universities and many university students struggle to learn the language throughout their education. Understanding the source of learners' motivation and the factors that contribute to the shaping of their L2 selves is essential in that it can help these students have a more productive L2 learning experience. The present study was conducted in a private university in the western part of Turkey. The participants consisted of 136 University students, 76 of which were female and 63 were male. The findings indicate that demographic factors had an influence on learners' private and ideal L2 self perceptions, as well as their learning orientation and their perceptions of the English class. Furthermore, it was found that the perceived L2 selves of learners interacted with one another. 82

Teknoloji tüm dünyada eğitimcilerin öğretme, öğrencilerin ise öğrenme biçimlerini değiştirmekte ve bu biçimleri sorgulamalarına neden olmaktadır. Bu değişimler içerik sunma açısından beraberinde büyük değişimler getirmektedir. Dijital yerlilerin mobil cihazlar, anında erişim, iş birliğine dayalı ve çevrimiçi öğrenme yönündeki tercihleri teknolojik gelişmelerin neredeyse her sınıfa nüfuz etmesine yol açmaktadır. Dijital teknolojilerin dinamik gücünden faydalanan bir öğretim yöntemi olan tersyüz öğrenme modeli de son yıllarda bir öğretim tasarımı olarak öne çıkmaktadır. Bu modelin dil öğretimindeki vaadi içeriği özgürleştirme ve öğrenmeyi sınıf sınırlarının dışına taşımaktır. Bu çalışmada, ters yüz öğrenme yaklaşımının benimsenmiş olduğu bir sınıftaki öğrencilerin görüşlerinin ve davranışlarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmaya, İstanbul, Türkiye'de bulunan bir vakıf üniversitesinin İngilizce hazırlık programında öğretimine devam eden yirmi altı öğrenci katılmıştır. Karma yöntemli bir araştırma tasarımı benimsenmiş ve veriler ters yüz öğrenme ölçeği, ders-öncesi ve ders-sonrası dijital okuryazarlık ölçeği, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ve öğretmen günlüğü ile toplanmıştır. Sonuçlar tersyüz öğretim modelinin öğrenci bağlılığını ve etkileşimi öğrenme desteği sağlayan fırsatlar yoluyla geliştirmenin yanı sıra, dil alıştırmalarını içeren çevrimiçi içerik aracılığıyla öğrencilerin dilbilgisine katkı sağlamıştır. Çalışmada ayrıca bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri araçlarının anlamlı bir şekilde kullanılmasının öğrencilerin dijital okuryazarlık becerilerine önemli ölçüde katkı sağladığı da ortaya konmuştur. Bu araştırma tersyüz öğrenmenin ekran kaydetme araçlarıyla hazırlanan videolarla kendi kendine öğrenmenin etkisi ve anında geribildirim gibi konularda görüşler ortaya koymakta ve uygulayıcılar için bazı tavsiyelerde bulunmaktadır. These shifts are driving massive changes in terms of content delivery. The preferences of digital natives with respect to mobile devices, instant access, collaborative and online learning have led to technological advancements that have infiltrated nearly every classroom. As a pedagogical approach harnessing the dynamic power of digital technologies, the flipped learning model has gained more prominence as an educational design in recent years. The broad promise of the model in language instruction is to liberate content and take learning beyond the confines of the classroom. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of students towards flipped learning in an EFL setting. Twenty-six students participated in the study, which was conducted in an English preparatory program at a foundation university in Istanbul, Turkey. A mixed-method research design was employed, and data were collected via a flipped learning questionnaire, a pre-course & post-course digital literacy questionnaire, achievement tests, semi-structured interviews, and a teacher journal. The results indicate that flipped instruction enhanced learners' grammar through online content combined with language practice as well as encouraging engagement and interaction by providing scaffolded learning opportunities. It was also revealed that the purposeful implementation of tools of information and communication technologies (ICT) can considerably improve students' digital literacy skills. This study offers insight into the impact of the model on self-paced learning with screencasts as well as instant feedback and provides recommendations for practitioners. Üniversiteler yüksek düzeyde eğitim ve araştırma yapan, bilgi üreten ve bilgiyi işlevli hale getiren kurumlardır. Günümüzde üniversiteler, ihtiyaç duyulan insan gücünün yetiştirilmesi için çeşitli yöntemler uygulamaktadırlar. Bu uygulamalardan biri bilgi çağında önem kazanan teknoloji destekli yabancı dil eğitimidir. Teknoloji destekli yabancı dil eğitimiyle öğrencilere mesleki bilgi ve beceri kazandırmaya çalışılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada öğrencilerin teknoloji destekli yabancı dil derslerinde yaşamış oldukları duyguları, edindikleri bilgileri ve teknoloji destekli yabancı dil eğitiminin sağladığı faydalar ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla teknoloji destekli yabancı dil eğitimi alan 875 öğrenci üzerinde bir anket çalışması yapılarak veriler toplanmıştır.Araştırmada öğrencilerin, teknoloji destekli yabancı dil dersinde daha fazla İngilizce dil becerisi edinmedikleri, dolayısıyla alışılagelmiş bir İngilizce dersine kıyasla, teknoloji destekli dersten de aynı düzeyde verim aldıkları saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin, laboratuvardaki aktivitelerden edindikleri bilgilerin, İngilizce dilbilgisi ve kelime haznelerinin gelişimi açısından büyük katkı sunmadığı, alışılagelmiş bir İngilizce dersine kıyasla bu derste İngiliz kültürü hakkında daha çok şey öğrenmedikleri görülmüştür. Öğrencilerin, alışılagelmiş bir İngilizce dersine kıyasla, teknoloji destekli yabancı dil dersine de daha fazla zaman harcamadıkları, laboratuvar aktiviteleri sayesinde İngilizce okuma becerilerinin gelişmediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca sonuçlar, öğrencilerin, laboratuvar aktiviteleri sayesinde İngilizce yazma becerilerinin gelişmediğini göstermiştir. Bu sonuçlardan hareketle; araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin teknoloji destekli yabancı dil öğrenmeye ilişkin tutumların genel olarak olumsuz olduğu söylenebilir. Universities are institutions that make high-level education and research, produce information and make information functional. Today, universities apply various methods for the training of the manpower needed. One of these applications is technology-supported foreign language education, which has gained importance in the information age. Technology-enhanced foreign language education aims to provide students with professional knowledge and skills. In this study, it is tried to reveal the emotions, knowledge and the benefits of technology-enhanced foreign language education. For this purpose, 875 students who received technology-enhanced foreign language education were surveyed and data were collected.In the research, it was determined that students do not acquire more English language skills in technology-enhanced foreign language course and thus they got the same level of efficiency from technology-enhanced course compared to a conventional English course. It was observed that the students did not develop in terms of English grammar and vocabulary, and did not learn much about British culture compared to a traditional English course. It was concluded that students did not spend more time in technology-enhanced foreign language lessons compared to a conventional English course and that their English reading skills didn't improv due to laboratory activities. In addition, the results showed that students couldn't improve their English writing skills thanks to their laboratory activities. Based on these results; it can be said that the students who participated in the research have generally negative attitudes towards technology-enhanced language learning. 82
