This study examines the impact of environmental attributes, specifically proximity to the ocean and a nuclear power plant, on property prices in Östhammar municipality during the period of 2017-2022. By conducting a hedonic price model for evaluating non-market goods, a dataset of 1210 observations of family houses and vacation homes was analyzed. The dependent variable in the model was the price of sold property, which included house characteristics and distances to environmental attributes. The analysis involves the conducting of regression analyses with robust standard errors and a logarithmic model to represent the elasticity. The result revealed a significant negative relationship between distance to the ocean and property prices, indicating that properties closer to the coastline commanded higher prices. Conversely, the distance to the nuclear power plant and property prices were observed, indicating a positive significant relationship that when increasing the distance from the power plant resulted in higher property prices.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic crisis has caused unprecedented challenges and profound implications on both individuals and organisations which had to adapt to the enforced regulations. Social distancing and lockdowns measures have obliged organisations to reduce workers’ exposure in the workplace and re-organise work remotely to ensure business continuity. For that purpose, the role of ICTs has been crucial in facilitating telework from home. The context of the pandemic crisis provides the opportunity to examine the recreation of integrative conditions of coordination, by individuals and groups within organisations, to bring collective and interdependent work together. Research Problem: Despite providing the adequate conditions to further study concepts on coordination, the sanitary crisis has forced employees to adapt to the new normal of social distancing by using digital technologies to share and communicate information. Such rapid organisational transformation has imposed virtual collaborations in which multiple parties are geographically dispersed and work towards the same objective. Little research has focused on digitally mediated coordination especially among hybrid teleworkers. Because distance influences the amount of interaction and communication between members, this thesis investigates the disruption of proximity in supporting coordination.Research Purpose: The study aims to reconcile the existing research on coordination and investigate how the theory applies in a digital environment. Studiens syfte är att vinna kunskap om hur förskolebarn fostrar varandra i en situation där lärare saknas. Hur barn kontrollerar och sätter gränser för varandra, samt vad villkorandet får för konsekvenser kartläggs med hjälp av en etnografisk fallstudie. Studien har genomförts med en deltagande observationen (80 minuter) som även filmats. Studien svarar även på forskningsfrågorna om vilka normativa ordningar som kommer till uttryck för barnens ageranden samt vilka dolda regler som barnen tycks reproducera. Hur barnen i situationen gör för att vinna kontroll och sätta gränser för andra barn, samt hur villkorade barn reagerar, analyseras utifrån fostran uttryckt i handling. Detta innefattar bland annat makt och motstånd där Jürgen Habermas handlingstypsteori legat till grund, uteslutningar som studerats av bland annat Lovisa Skånfors samt Kenneth Ekströms förklaring av förskolefostran som strukturell disciplinering. Ett intressant resultat som framkommer av studiens analys är att barnens ageranden i villkorandet tycks utformas utefter hur vida en så kallad kärngrupp är intakt eller inte. Det barn som står utanför kärngruppen blir inte insläppt och agerar utifrån inledande, i-mitten- och avslutande ageranden, där de avslutande ageranden visar en låg maktposition och även en exkludering. Det som även görs synligt i analysen är barnens reproduktion av den normativa ordningen alla får vara med. I en situation där lärare saknas lyder regeln snarare att alla de som är med i kärngruppen får vara med.

There is growing evidence that immune functions are linked to the regulation of body fat. Our studies of knockout mice indicate that both endogenous interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-1 can suppress mature-onset obesity. We now investigated whether four common polymorphisms of the IL6 and IL1 systems are associated with the fat mass measured with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in elderly men (n = 3,014). The study subjects were from the Swedish part of the MrOS multicenter population study and 69-81 years of age. The IL6-174 G>C (Minor allele frequency (MAF) = 48%) gene promoter polymorphism was associated with the primary outcome total fat mass (P = 0.006) and regional fat masses, but not with lean body mass. The IL1B-31T>C (MAF = 34%) polymorphism was also associated with total fat (P = 0.007) and regional fat masses, but not lean body mass. The IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) gene (IL1RN) + 2018 T>C (MAF = 27%) polymorphism (in linkage disequilibrium (LD) with a well-studied variable number tandem repeat of 86 base pair (bp)) and IL1B + 3953 C>T (MAF = 26%) polymorphism were not associated with total fat mass. In conclusion, the IL-1 and IL-6 systems, shown to suppress mature-onset obesity in experimental animals, contain gene polymorphisms that are associated with fat, but not lean, mass in elderly men.
