Abstract

Magnetotransport measurements in large diameter multiwall carbon nanotubes (20-40 nm) demonstrate the competition of a magnetic-field dependent bandstructure and Altshuler-Aronov-Spivak oscillations. By means of an efficient capacitive coupling to a backgate electrode, the magnetoconductance oscillations are explored as a function of Fermi level shift. Changing the magnetic field orientation with respect to the tube axis and by ensemble averaging, allows to identify the contributions of different Aharonov-Bohm phases. The results are in qualitative agreement with numerical calculations of the band structure and the conductance., Comment: 4 figures, 5 pages

7. Blue superluminescent light-emitting diodes with output power above 100mW for picoprojection

Abstract

We present a blue InGaN research and development superluminescent light-emitting diode (SLED) that is suitable for picoprojection. The SLED reaches an output power of > 100mW with a peak wavelength of 443nm and a spectral bandwidth of > 2.6 nm as well as a single-mode far-field driven in cw mode at 25 °C. In order to figure out an optimized waveguide design, which enables such a high output power at lowest operation current, we compare the performance of diodes with curved and tilted shaped ridges in detail, using the lasing threshold current as a criterion for lasing or superluminescence, respectively.

19. Effect of band structure on quantum interference in multiwall carbon nanotubes.

Abstract

We report conductance measurements on multiwall carbon nanotubes in a perpendicular magnetic field. A gate electrode with large capacitance is used to considerably vary the nanotube Fermi level. This enables us to search for signatures of the unique electronic band structure of the nanotubes in the regime of diffusive quantum transport. We find an unusual quenching of the magnetoconductance and the zero bias anomaly in the differential conductance at certain gate voltages, which can be linked to the onset of quasi-one-dimensional subbands.
