Certain negative phenomena that occur when weaving on a shuttle loom are described and analyzed in this paper. The manufactured fabric is used to produce different types of items for rest and relaxation, e.g. garden and home swings, then swings and baby carriers, etc. The fabric is made on a weaving loom with a shuttle, from the company "Textima". The analysis found that, during weaving, errors occur that originate from oil, thicker threads, burls, knots, fuzz, hairs, etc. dominate. These errors can be easily eliminated by careful work and timely interventions on the loom itself. The number of warp and weft breaks is mostly within normal limits and depends on the quality of the yarns used and the quality of their preparation. Inspection of the finished fabric by trained and skilled workers confirms the errors that occur during weaving.

Introduction: Beauty and attractiveness of a person's facial features are very subjective and also influenced by many factors, such as cultural, social, and personal. It is due to many complex neural mechanisms, that we are able to perceive everything, and also decide if something is attractive or not. The most common and the most significant factors associated with good facial aesthetics are symmetry and proportions of the face. It is important to note that they can be thoroughly analysed using photogrammetry, which represents a non-invasive technique that involves using photographs or 3D imaging methods to capture and analyze the craniofacial structures and features for diagnostic, treatment planning, monitoring and research purposes. When it comes to photogrammetry, angular parameters such as nasofrontal, nasolabial, mentolabial and facial profile angle and linear parameters such as facial width to height ratio, nasal width, interocular and interpupillary distance, philtrum length, chin and forehead height of the face are of great importance. Aim: In this literature survey authors wanted to highlight if these measurements and parameters were enough for determining the beauty and attractiveness of a face if used on their own. Conclusion: Facial photogrammetry has several applications in the field of medicine, particularly in areas such as dermatology, orthodontics, maxillofacial and plastic surgery, due to the usage of angular and linear parameters, as well as other purposes. With many advancements and adjustments, it has become accurate and accessible and has also significantly improved diagnostics, patient care, treatments and outcomes in various cases in medicine and dentistry.

The occurrence of COVID-19 led to the rapid development of several vaccines which were distributed around the world. Even though there had been a vast amount of information about both virus and vaccination, this process was potentially related to increased anxiety and thus affected the vaccination process.

Background/Aim. Several serious complications can accompany both spontaneous and post-traumatic sub-arachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) such as the development of intracranial hypertension, hydrocephalus, re-bleeding, cerebral hypoxia, cerebral vasospasm, impaired pituitary function, electrolyte imbalance, and electrocardiographic (ECG) abnormalities. Although there is a declining trend in mortality, the treatment of SAH and its complications represents a challenge even in imposing neurosurgical centers. The aim of the study was to compare some clinical characteristics and complications between spontaneous and post-traumatic SAH. Methods. The retrospective study included 138 patients treated at the Department of Neurosurgery from January 2018 to January 2023. There were 71 patients with spontaneous and 67 patients with post-traumatic SAH. Results. A predominance of spontaneous SAH in female and post-traumatic SAH in male patients (p < 0.001) was found. There was a statistically significant difference in the frequency of hydrocephalus between groups of spontaneous and post-traumatic SAH patients (p = 0.013). Cerebral vasospasm was significantly more prevalent in patients with spontaneous SAH (p < 0.001). A statistically significant association was also obtained between the thickness of the coagulum in these two groups (p < 0.001). Patients with spontaneous SAH were significantly more likely to have a negative T wave in E CG findings (p < 0.001). Furthermore, there was no statistically significant difference regarding electrolyte imbalance in these two groups of patients with SAH. Conclusion. There were statistically significant differences between gender distribution, the frequency of abnormal ECG findings in the form of a negative T wave, greater coagulum thickness, vasospasm occurrence, and a higher rate of hydrocephalus in patients with spontaneous SAH compared to patients with post-traumatic SAH.

Introduction. Parkes-Weber syndrome (PWS) is a complex and rare genetic disease of combined vascular malformations that primarily occur in the extremities and can involve the pelvic blood vessels. In extremely rare cases, the disease is manifested by endocranial and spinal involvement. The treatment of such patients represents a challenge for neurosurgical centers and requires a multidisciplinary approach. Case report. We present the case of a 46-year-old male patient admitted to the emergency department due to spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), moderate flaccid paraparesis, and urinary incontinence. The patient was previously diagnosed with PWS, while the genetic evaluation proved the RASA1 gene mutation. Furthermore, he experienced a spontaneous SAH and was hospitalized 26 years ago, while six years ago, he underwent a right nephrectomy due to multiple hilar aneurysms of the right renal artery and its branches. Digital subtraction angiography of the endocranium was performed, which detected no aneurysmal dilatations or arteriovenous malformations (AVM). The magnetic resonance imaging recorded spinal intradural AVM in the vertebral levels between T12 and L3, which completely filled the dural sac. After the conservative treatment, there was a significant improvement in the patient’s neurological and clinical condition. Conclusion. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only case report of a patient with PWS who had a spinal intradural AVM and spontaneous SAH without high-output heart failure and with a history of a previous nephrectomy.

Background/Aim. A type of personality and negative emotional reactions could be important for clustering biological risk factors for a cardiovascular disease in patients with arterial hypertension (AH). This study investigated if the patients with AH and psychological characteristics of the Distressed Type of personality with elevated anxiety/depression/aggression, have a higher risk of metabolic syndrome (MS) and explored value of the assessed parameters for MS occurrence. Methods. A total of 85 patients with AH were included in the cross-sectional observational study. Type D Scale-14 (DS-14) was used to detect Type D (Distressed) personality. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) assessed the levels of anxiety and depression and the Buss Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ) was used for the assessment of aggression. The explored biological parameters included: blood pressure, lipid status, body mass index (BMI), the occurrence of diabetes mellitus (DM) and MS. Results. Type D patients were frequently more anxious, aggressive and had more frequent MS compared to non-type D. Type D females were younger, more anxious and had a greater prevalence of DM than those with non-type D personality. A multivariate analysis revealed that in type D personality patients with AH, depression had predictive value for MS. Conclusion. The occurrence of both MS and AH was in correlation with the type D personality, anxiety and depression. Early detection/treatment of depression in patients with AH and Type D personality could decrease a risk of metabolic syndrome.

The subject of research in this paper are the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and the conse-quences in the textile industry with an emphasis on the luxury fashion industry. The paper analyzes the case study of the Kering Group through aspects of financial and socially responsible business during 2020. Based on that, the challenges in doing business during the COVID-19 pandemic are pointed out, through proposed solu-tions for overcoming the consequences of doing business in epidemiological conditions in the luxury fashion industry. The paper concludes that the application of digital technologies enables the reduction of the conse-quences of the negative effects of the pandemic and a faster exit from the crisis of the participants in the luxury fashion industry.

Background/Aim. Persons identification and their age assessment is necessary in vast number of cases and there are different methods used for such purposes. Numerous studies indicate that the third molar development could play a crucial role in identifying an individual`s age. The aim of this study was to determine the possibility for estimating the chronological age based on the third molar development stages in children and young adults in the Serbian population. Methods. A total of 570 Serbian patients aged 6–27 years were included in this study. Out of the total number of subjects, there were 248 males with an average age of 12.21 ± 3.91 years, and 332 females with an average age of 12.88 ± 4.06 years. Stages of dental formation were determined on orthopantomograms by comparing with standard Demirjian radiographic appearances. Results. Third molars mineralization occured more rapidly in males than in females. Most of the persons with third molar (the stage H development according to the Demirjian method) were older than 18 years. Conclusion. Тhird molar mineralization stages determination on orthopantomograms is useful additional method for determination of chronological age in living individuals. This finding might be important for forensic studies, focusing on the determination of the legally important ages. Variability among different ethnic groups has to be taken into consideration when applying this method. It is necessary to carry out extensive surveys on a larger sample in order to determine the norms for assessing the dental and chronological age of Serbian population.

The subject of this paper is the implications of corporate philanthropy in the textile industry in a contemporary business environment. Due to the importance of corporate philanthropy for corporate social responsibility, the paper discusses its role in contributing to the general community, participants in the textile industry. The paper analyzes two case studies as examples of good practice in applying corporate philanthropy for corporate social responsibility (American Textile Company and NAG d.o.o.). On this basis, it indicates the philanthropic activities that the textile industry participants could apply and the goals of their business that they can achieve through corporate philanthropy. The paper concludes that by applying corporate philanthropy, businesses will be able to associate their name or brand/brands with the common good locally and nationally.

Pain control, during and after root canal treatment is one of the important issues in endodontic practice. Occurrence of pain after intervention often presents considerable distress to both patient and dentist. In many studies influence of different endodontic treatment factors on incidence of postoperative pain has been investigated. However, different and inconsistent results between studies and growth in number of published papers each year made professional updating and clinical-decision making challenging. Systematic reviews synthesized and combined data from relevant studies to find the answer to a research question providing the highest level of scientific evidence. Thus, their use may facilitate decision making in clinical practice. The aim of this article was to present results from systematic reviews about the influence of endodontic treatment on postoperative pain.

Introduction Materials used for root canal obturation and root perforation are expected to have, in addition to preventing apical, lateral and coronary leakage, antimicrobial effects on microorganisms that are not accessible to chemomechanical instrumentation and intra-canal medications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of a novel calcium aluminate-based endodontic nanostructured biomaterial (ALBO-MCCA) using agar diffusion test. Material and methods the two materials were tested in the study. The nanostructured calcium aluminate was synthesized by the hydrothermal sol-gel method from individual components of calcium aluminate (CaOxAl2 O3 ), calcite (CaCO3 ) and barium sulfate (BaSO4 ) as radiocontrast agent in the ratio of 2:2:1 according to V. Jokanovic's recipe. The other used material was calcium silicate MTA Angelus (Londrina, Brazil). The antimicrobial effect was assessed using agar diffusion test. Standard strains of Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, cultured on blood Mueller-Hinton agar and Candida albicans cultivated on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar, were used as test microorganisms. Results the best antimicrobial effect after 24 h both materials showed against S. aureus. The mean values of the growth inhibition zone for ALBO MCCA were 5.7 ± 0.25 mm and MTA 6.2 ± 0.4 mm. The ALBO MCCA material showed slightly stronger antibacterial effect against E. coli compared to MTA (p < 0.05), whereas none of the materials showed antibacterial effect against E. faecalis. Conclusion the ALBO MCCA material showed certain antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans that was comparable to antibacterial effect of MTA.

Introduction: The applicability of Pont's Index to orthodontic patients may guide clinicians in predicting an ideal arch width, necessary to accommodate the dentition, unloose crowding and to produce more stable final results. The aim: of this study was to establish the applicability of Pont's Index to Serbian population and compare the results with those acquired from studies conducted on different ethnic subjects. Materials and methods: Dental casts of 200 Serbian subjects (100 males and 100 females) were used in this study. All subjects had normal Class I occlusion, with no history of orthodontic treatment. Measurements were taken by a digital caliper (precision of 0.01 mm). The mesiodistal widths of the maxillary permanent incisors, as well as interpremolar and intermolar maxillary arch widths, were measured. Using t-test Pont's Index ratios between this study and Pont's study and between genders were compared. Pearson correlation coefficients between measured and arch width values according to Pont's formulae were determined. Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic diseases which continue to increase in number and significance. It presents the third most prevalent condition among medically compromised patients referring for dental treatment. Diabetes mellitus has been defined as a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Hyperglycemia leads to widespread multisystem damage which has an effect on oral tissue. The present article summarizes current knowledge regarding the association between diabetes mellitus and oral and dental health.

Introduction/Objective. This study determined the 12 months clinical and radiographic periapical healing of teeth with apical periodontitis treating with different formulations of calcium hydroxide (CH): paste (CHpaste) and gutta-percha points (CH-GP), and chlorhexidine (CHX): gel (CHX-gel) and gutta-percha points (CHX-GP). Methods. Eighty patients with chronic apical periodontitis were randomly allocated to 4 different treatment groups according to the intracanal medicament used: CH-paste, CH-GP, CHX-gel and CHX-GP group. Seventy eight patients were analyzed clinically and radiographically 12-month postoperatively. The Periapical index (PAI) was used for radiographic evaluation of treatment success. Results. Overall outcome was classified according to radiographic evaluation only, because in all patients clinical success was observed. In all groups significant reduction in PAI scores were observed (p < 0.001). The proportions of healed teeth (PAI ≤ 2) were 73.7%, 60.0%, 68.4% and 65.0% in CH-paste, CH-GP, CHXgel and CHX-GP group, respectively, with no significant differences between the groups. Conclusion. The results suggested that there are no differences between investigated CH- and CHXdelivery systems regarding treatment outcome of teeth with apical periodontitis.

Introduction/Objective. This study was aimed at evaluating dentin permeability after irrigation with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and final rinse with chlorhexidine (CHX), ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) + CHX, and new combination products: QMiX or MTAD. Methods. Roots of 60 maxillary incisors were randomly divided into five groups (n = 12) before instrumentation and irrigation with NaOCl according to the final irrigation regimen: CHX (2% CHX), EDTA + CHX (17% EDTA + 2% CHX), QMiX, MTAD, and control group (distilled water). After final irrigation, ten roots of each group were horizontally sectioned and dye penetration was evaluated in the coronal, middle, and apical thirds. Remaining samples were subjected to scanning electron microscopy. Data were analyzed with ANOVA/Tukey’s test. Results. Less dye penetration was found in CHX group compared with control as well as with QMiX and MTAD group in all thirds (p < 0.05). A significant difference between the control and EDTA + CHX, QMiX or MTAD group was observed only in the apical root third (p < 0.05). Conclusion. Dentin permeability was significantly reduced after final irrigation with CHX, but not after use of other final irrigation solutions, except in the apical third of the root canal.

Introduction This pilot study was aimed to compare pulpal pain provoked by electrical and thermal (cold) stimuli in healthy young women during various phases of menstrual cycle and postmenopausal women. Material and methods The study included 20 regularly menstruating healthy women and 20 postmenopausal women. Electrical (electrical pulp tester) and cold (refrigerant spray) stimuli were performed on mandibular central incisors, twice in regularly menstruating (menstrual and luteal phases) and once in postmenopausal women. Results were expressed as pain threshold values for electrical pulp stimulation (0-80 units) and pain intensity scores (visual numeric scale, from 0 to 10) for cold stimulation. Results In young women, higher pain electrical threshold (p=0.484) and pain sensitivity score (p=0.015) were observed in luteal in comparison to menstrual phase. In postmenopausal women, electrical pain threshold was significantly higher while pain intensity score was significantly lower than in young women, regardless of the menstrual phase and painful stimuli. Conclusion Lower responsiveness to dental pulp pain was obtained in young women in luteal phase and postmenopausal women.

Due to a confirmed antimicrobial activity of both natural and synthetic coumarin derivatives, the present study was envisaged to provide a further insight into the antimicrobial potential of coumarins through a screening of a designed library of nine 4-(alkylamino)-3-nitrocoumarins against a panel of 24 laboratory strains and resistant (isolates) bacterial and fungal pathogens. All compounds showed some degree of strain-selective activity, that was, in some cases, very pronounced, reaching the value of 0.04 nmol/ml (i.e. 12 ng/ml) for the minimal inhibitory concentration against Candida albicans. The observed activity was higher against Gram-negative strains, among which the most susceptible strain, among both ATCC strains and clinical isolates, was Salmonella enteritidis. These results point out to a high potential of these coumarins as antimicrobials for the treatment of gastrointestinal and other infections caused by highly resistant microbial strains. Finally, a multivariate statistical analysis of the herein obtained and previous results on the antimicrobial activity of related selected coumarins was performed to allow an easier structure-activity discussion. The aim of this study was to determine dental status and prosthetic rehabilitation in elderly population in relation to socioeconomic factors in Republika Srpska. Material and Methods The study included 262 subjects (133 males and 129 females) aged 65-74 years. Dental status was assessed using DMFT index and its components (D - decayed, M - extracted, F - filled tooth) and analysed in relation to socioeconomic factors: gender, level of education and monthly income. Prosthetic restorations were recorded for both jaws in accordance with criteria of the World Health Organisation. Results The mean DMFT was 27.2. Females had the highest DMFT index score (29.1) while highly educated subjects had the lowest score (22.7). The mean number of missing teeth was 22.7. There were 28.2% edentulous respondents. Significant difference in the number of edentulous persons was recorded in relation to gender, education and monthly income. In total, 16.8% of subjects had functional dentition (≥20 natural teeth). 48.5% and 32.1% of elderly respondents were found to have at least one form of prosthetic restoration in upper and lower jaw, respectively. Complete dentures were the most common prosthetic restorations. Conclusion Socioeconomic factors influenced dental status in elderly population. Removable dentures were more common restorations compared to crowns and bridges.

The paper analyses the implementation of the EU immigration and asylum policy and the control of EU member states' external borders in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. The author argues that the European Union pursues an exclusive version of those policies aimed at reducing the immigration pressure as well as preventing illegal border crossings into the member states. Two key mechanisms have been identified in the EU policy implementation: 1) a restrictive border control regime, and 2) agreements to transfer border management and supervision tasks to the third countries (transitional countries). The author emphasizes that the development of an exclusive migration strategy was not followed by the needed changes of the inclusive aspects of the EU immigration and asylum policy and the control of external borders; in fact, the EU member state's asylum systems were not preventively strengthened as to enhance national capacities to receive and integrate new migrants. The dramatic increase of the number of illegal crossings of the European Union external borders in 2014 caused the collapse of the EU immigration strategy, and failures in national asylum systems of the member states. The author concludes that partially integrated EU immigration and asylum policy at national level led to the dysfunctional external border management and the EU's loss of control over massive immigration influxes.

In the present paper, a new design method for continuous-time powersymmetric active RC filters for Hybrid Filter Bank (HFB) is proposed. Some theoretical properties of continious-time power-symmetric filters bank in a more general perspective are studied. This includes the derivation of a new general analytical form, and a study of poles and zeros locations in s-plane. In the proposed design method the analytic solution of filter coefficients is solved in sdomain using only one nonlinear equation Finally, the proposed approximation is compared to standard approximations. Introduction. Because apical periodontitis is recognizably an infectious disease, elimination or reduction of intracanal bacteria is of utmost importance for optimum treatment outcome. Objective. The prevalence of Enterococcus faecalis and Porphyromonas gingivalis in infected root canals was studied Also, the effect of endodontic therapy by using intracanal medicaments, calcium hydroxide paste (CH) or gutta-percha points containing calcium hydroxide (CH-GP) or chlorhexidine (CHX-GP) on these microorganisms was assessed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay. Methods. Fifty-one patients with chronic apical periodontitis were randomly allocated in one of the following groups according to the intracanal medicament used: CH, CH-GP and CHX-GP group. Bacterial samples were taken upon access (S1), after chemomechanical instrumentation (S2) and after 15-day medication (S3). PCR assay was used to detect the presence of selected bacteria. Results. E. faecalis was detected in 49% (25/51) and P. gingivalis in 17.6% (9/51) of the samples. Samples which showed no bacterial presence at S1 were excluded from further analysis. Introduction. Lack of proper adhesion is one of the most common problems in modern restorative dentistry and the main cause of the occurrence of microcracks at the interface between materials and hard dental tissue. The aim of this study was to assess the quality of bond between two types of glass-ionomer cement (GIC) class V restorations and hard dental tissues by SEM. Materials and Methods. This clinical study included 20 intact teeth (premolars and molars) recently extracted for orthodontic reasons in patients of both genders and different ages. Class V cavity with rounded walls was prepared on vestibular and oral surfaces of all teeth (3x2x2 mm). Conventional GIC Fuji II was applied on vestibular surface of teeth whereas on oral surface resin-reinforced glass ionomer Fuji II LC was placed. The bond between fillings and hard dental tissue was assessed by SEM. Results. Both materials showed microcracks, however, microleakage was lower with Fuji II LC than with Fuji II. Microcracks were observed in 65% of cases (13 restorations) restored with GIC Fuji II and 35% (7 fillings) restored with GIC Fuji II LC. The size of microcracks for Fuji II LC was 9 μm while this value for Fuji II was 17 μm. The difference was statistically significant. Conclusion. Better bond between material and hard dental tissue was achieved with the material of new generation, resin modified GIC.

Introduction. Dental caries is still an important social health problem in many countries. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence and impact of oral discomfort, particularly caused by dental caries on the quality of life of middle-aged people as well as the association between oral problems caused by caries and the current status of teeth. Material and Methods. The study included 72 patients, age 25-45 years. Serbian version of the questionnaire Oral Impacts on Daily Performance (OIDP) was used to determine the overall impact of oral health as well as the specific effect of caries (SP-OIDP) on the quality of life. To determine the status of teeth the DMFT index was used. Results. The incidence of oral health impact on daily activities was 68.1%. Carious teeth affected food intake (40.0%) and brushing teeth (31.0%) but had no effect on showing teeth and maintaining normal emotional state. Caries was the cause of oral discomfort in more than half of the respondents. Of all clinical variables only DMFT>22 was associated with the SP-OIDP score after inclusion of socio-demographic factors in the analysis (rs=0.273). Conclusion. The results of this study indicate that the incidence of the effect of oral conditions on the quality of life is high with most respondents showing difficulties while eating. Using specific questionnaire it was noted that dental caries had a significant effect on oral functions of respondents. Also, there was a significant correlation between dental status and the quality of life of middle-aged people.

Body fat percentage is higher in relation to muscle in reduced physical activity, which significantly affects the level of motorabilities of students. The results of previously conducted research in the area of motor skills quickly become obsolete. During school age tracking students growth and development enables us to assess the regularity of the developmental period. By measuring the motor dimensions we come to some data about their development. If we want to get to the question of whether there is a change in the development of motor skills, it is necessary to compare their development with the development of students the same age measured more than twenty years. The aim of this study was to determine the difference of motor abilities of the pupils aged 13 years measured in 1970 and 1995 year. Measurement of motor skills are performed according to the methodology that was applied by Kurelić et al. (1975). Determination of differences was done by Difference test from the statistical package Statistica 8.0 for Windows, compared to the availabledata of means and standard deviations of respondents. The results of this research indicate that students which are measured in 1970 had better motor skills compared to students of the same age measured in 1995, except in test foot taping (MTAN).

During school age tracking the student growth and development enables us to assess the regularity of the developmental period. By measuring the morphological measures we are coming to the data on the growth and development of student as a whole and in individual segments of the body. If we want to get to the fact if there is acceleration in the growth and development, it is necessary to compare the growth and development, with the growth and development of student the same age measured more than twenty years ago. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in longitudinal and circular skeleton dimensions of student 13 years old measured in 1970 and 1995 year. Morphological measurements were performed by standard instruments by the methodology recommended by the International Biological Program (IBP). Determination of differences was done by using the Difference test from the statistical package Statistica 8.0 for Windows, considering data of means and standard deviations of respondents. The results indicate that the students who are measured in 1995 have bigger longitudinal and circular dimensions as compared to students of the same age measured in 1970 year.

Introduction. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of dental caries and analyze the status of teeth in relation to sociodemographic factors and habits and behavior related to oral health among adolescents in the eastern region of Republika Srpska. Material and Methods. The study included 212 adolescents (71 males and 141 females) age 16-18 years. Information about sociodemographic characteristics, oral hygiene habits and behaviors related to oral health were collected using a questionnaire. The prevalence of dental caries was determined by applying the DMFT index and its components (D - decayed, M - extracted, F - filled teeth). The status of teeth was analyzed in relation to socio-demographic variables, oral hygiene habits and behavior related to oral health. Results. The mean DMFT value of examined population was approximately 8.6. A significant difference in the status of teeth of adolescents was reported in relation to the place of residence and oral hygiene habits - brushing frequency and the use of dental floss. A significant difference in the caries prevalence was recorded depending on the elapsed time from last visit and reasons for visiting dentist. Conclusion. The results suggested that the place of residence, oral hygiene habits and behavior related to oral health influenced the status of teeth of adolescents in the eastern region of Republika Srpska.

Introduction. Knowledge of root canal morphology is one of the main prerequisites for successful endodontic treatment. We present the case of a patient with multiple canals in lower anterior teeth which were treated endodontically. Case Report. To a 45-year-old patient endodontic treatment was applied on lower left lateral incisor, lower right central and lateral incisor and lower right canine. These teeth were previously prepared for prosthetic crowns. All involved teeth had two canals which were not visible on the primary radiographs. Gracility of remaining tooth structure and canals and the presence of two canals in each tooth required additional radiographs for verification of multiple canals. Careful biomechanical instrumentation and irrigation with use of lubrication due to narrow canals was performed. The canals were obturated with gutta-percha using lateral compaction technique and Acroseal (Septodont) paste. On the control checkup after eight months, the patient was asymptomatic, while clinical finding was normal. Conclusion. Complexity of presented case was even more significant because these teeth were prepared to support prosthetic superstructure and crowns, and every “forgotten” canal is an iatrogenic error.

Introduction. The main goal of obturation is prevention of reinfection of the root canal system and consequently appearance of periapical lesion. Epidemiological studies have confirmed high prevalence of periapical lesions in endodontically treated teeth with inadequate root canal fillings. The aim of this study was to assess the quality of root canal fillings in teeth treated at students’ practical sessions. Iatrogenic errors during endodontic interventions were also assessed. Methods. Two hundred dental records of the patients treated by students in the study program Dentistry at the School of Medicine in Foca during the academic year 2010/2011 were randomly chosen. The length and homogeneity of the fillings or the presence of iatrogenic errors were recorded. A root canal filling was considered adequate if it had correct length and homogeneity in the absence of iatrogenic errors. Two students’ curricula V1 and V2 were evaluated for the treatment outcome. Results. Out of 128 endodontically treated teeth, adequate length of the canal filling to the physiological apex was observed in 57% of teeth, homogeneity in 78.9%, while both of these criteria were satisfied in 66 teeth (51.6%). The aim of this study was to determine the dental status of teeth in adults in the eastern region of Republika Srpska and to determine possible difference in the prevalence of dental diseases according to the demographic characteristics. Materials and Methods. The study included 182 respondents aged 35-44 years and 185 respondents aged 65-74 years, selected randomly from four municipalities in the eastern region of Republika Srpska. Dental examinations were conducted according to the standards and criteria developed by the World Health Organization. Introduction. Dental caries has been one of the oldest but still one of the most common oral diseases in humans. Even though it has been almost eradicated in developed countries due to increased fluoride use, adoption of proper oral hygiene habits and systematic implementation of preventive programs, caries remained one of leading oral diseases in developing countries. Epidemiological data about the prevalence of caries is very important for prediction of need for dental care, number of dental care providers as well as financial aspect. The aim of this study was to determine dental status and indicate dental treatment need in adults of the municipality of Foca, Republika Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Material and Methods. The study included 244 randomly selected residents (131 males and 113 females) from the municipality of Foca which were divided into three age groups: 20-29, 30-39 and 40-49 years. Introduction. It has been known that periodontitis is one of the most common oral diseases in patients having diabetes mellitus (DM). The aim of this study was to examine the influence of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level and the level of oral hygiene on periodontal status of patients suffering from DM. Material and Methods. The research included 50 people with type 2 DM randomly selected. Based on values of HbA1c, patients were divided into two groups: well controlled DM (HbA1c≤8.5%) and poorly controlled DM (HbA1c>8.5%). The paper presents the measurement results of optical amplifying characteristics of Er-doped As-S-Ge chalcogenide glasses. The measurements included the amplification of useful laser source power during propagation along two axes of samples. A fluorescence maximum at the wavelengths between 1500 nm and 1540 nm was identified, which corresponds to the transition of electrons from the 4I13/2 level to the 4I15/2 level within the 4f shell of Erbium ions (Er3+). Measuring the signal strength showed that the passage through the erbium doped chalcogenid glass amplification of the useful signal occurs and this increase is proportional to the length of propagation through the doped glass.

Introduction: As one of the most important dental diseases, caries cannot be treated with classic therapeutic measures, but very often, there is a need for preventive and prophylactic measures. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess clinical efficiency of composite materials and glass-ionomer cements as pit and fissure sealants in caries prevention. Materials and Methods: The study comprised 50 patients (141 teeth), both sexes, 6-7 years old with at least two erupted first permanent molars. The main diagnostic criterion was smooth enamel surface with no probe faltering on the tooth. Materials tested in this study were two composite materials (Heiloseal-Opak and Helioseal-Transparent) and two glass-ionomers (Fisurit and Fuji VII). For clinical assessment of these materials, modified Cvar-Ryge criteria were used. Results: The obtained results showed no statistically significant differences among materials in respect to retention, marginal adaptation, discoloration and secondary caries. Introduction: Caries is one of the oldest and most common human diseases and, as such, attracts attention of scientists and researchers worldwide. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine caries prevalence in the students of Dental and Medical Schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted at School of Dentistry in Foca and included 340 students, 18-25 years of age. Caries prevalence was analyzed using DMFT index and its components. Results: The average DMFT values in the examined population of students was 12.8±4.7 with only one student with DMFT=0. Obtained results revealed that upper molars were most frequently affected by initial as well as deep caries (30.4%, 15.3% respectively) while anterior teeth were least affected (5.3% and 0.3% respectively). The greatest number of students had 1-3 amalgam restorations. Maxillary teeth from both anterior and posterior segments were most frequently restored with esthetic materials. DMFT index analysis showed that lower molars were among the most often extracted teeth (48.2%). Conclusion: High DMFT index values in the examined population is the results of inadequate organisation of dental healthcare service and inadequate preventive measures in specific socio-economic and medical conditions. .

Caries is the most frequent oral disease in all age groups. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine dental status and caries prevalence in adolescents in the Eastern Bosnian region, in Foča municipality Materials and methods: The study comprised 300 pupils of secondary schools, of both sexes and aged between 15 and 18 in Foča municipality. Dental check-up was conducted by a single dentist using daylight, dental mirror and dental probe. Caries prevalence was analyzed using the DMFT index. Results: Results showed that the dominant components of DMFT were filled (51.7%) and decayed teeth (36.8%) while extracted teeth were least frequent (11.8). Initial caries was observed most frequently in upper (48%) and lower (39.7%) molars and least frequently in lower anterior teeth (8.4%). Deep caries lesions were most often found in upper (35,7%) and lower (33.3%) molars and rarely in lower anterior teeth (3.3%). Conclusion: Adolescents in Eastern Bosnia (Foca municipality) have great number of carious and unrestored teeth and, therefore, the implementation of primary dental healthcare system is necessary as well as looking for a solution to this problem.

Background: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of a school-based high-intensity interval training (HIIT) program on quality of life and physical fitness in adolescents. Methods: The study included 60 male adolescents (16.2 ± 0.6 years), randomly assigned to one of two groups: the HIIT group (n = 30) and the control group (CG, n = 30). Participants completed the KIDSCREEN-27 questionnaire to evaluate quality of life and physical fitness tests, including vertical jump, repetitive strength, agility, and flexibility. The experimental program consisted of a 12-week intervention integrated into the warm-up phase of regular physical education (PE) classes. Each PE class lasted 45 min, with the HIIT regimen occupying 10 min of the warm-up phase. The HIIT sessions followed a Tabata-style structure, performed twice weekly. A two-way ANOVA with repeated measures assessed group and time interaction effects. Results: The results revealed changes in physical well-being following the HIIT intervention (p = 0.01) compared to the control group (p = 0.42). The results of the two-way ANOVA with repeated measures revealed interaction effects between group and time for the various fitness tests, countermovement jump (p = 0.04), 4 × 10 m agility test (p = 0.02), medicine ball throw test (p = 0.04), and sit-ups (30 s) (p = 0.01). Conclusions: This study highlights the effectiveness of school-based HIIT in significantly enhancing physical well-being and physical fitness among adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Children and adults may react differently to warm‐up preservation due to different physical characteristics. This study aimed to: (i) assess the impact of different rewarm‐up routines in swimmers during a transition phase (20–25 min), including passive rest (SWU) or dynamic activities (RWU), on countermovement jump and swimming start performances, and (ii) explore potential RWU adaptations considering maturity offset (peak height velocity—PHV) and sex. Performance was analyzed using mixed effect ANCOVA, considering protocol, maturity offset (pre‐PHV, mid‐PHV, post‐PHV, and adv. post‐PHV), and sex. Results favored RWU over SWU with substantial magnitudes for jump height: pre‐PHV (min‐20, ES = 1.21; min‐25, ES = 1.65), mid‐PHV (min‐20, ES = 1.23; min‐25, ES = 1.14), post‐PHV (min‐20, ES = 1.37; min‐25, ES = 0.73), and adv. post‐PHV (min‐20, ES = 1.03; min‐25, ES = 0.65). Significant interactions at 25 min (p = 0.033, 0.047) showed that RWU outperformed SWU, especially in younger groups (pre‐PHV, mid‐PHV). RWU was superior to SWU for the reactive strength index at 20 min (p = 0.042) and 25 min (p = 0.047), with females having lower RSI than males at 20 min (p = 0.008, p = 0.015) and 25 min (p = 0.049) in later developmental stages. The flight distance (p = 0.009) and horizontal hip velocity (p = 0.014) revealed significant three‐way interactions, with the male adv. post‐PHV group responding better to RWU. Knee angular velocity was also higher after RWU, with male adv. post‐PHV group showing more pronounced improvements (p = 0.016). An essential oil dominated by germacrene D (19.3% by GC) was isolated from the fresh fruit of Amorpha fruticosa L. (Fabaceae). Agglomerative clustering and k-means clustering were employed to compare the composition of the oil with the existing literature data, suggesting that the A. fruticosa used in this study represents a new chemotype. The essential oil was evaluated for its antinociceptive activity using the acetic acid-induced writhing test in rats at doses of 400, 200, and 100 mg/kg. All tested doses reduced the number of writhes induced by the intraperitoneal injection of acetic acid. The 400 mg/kg dose of the oil demonstrated a 54.4% inhibition, which was statistically different from the positive control, aspirin, which showed 90.2% inhibition at a dose of 200 mg/kg. Since the injection of acetic acid produces the release of prostaglandins, such as PGE2α and PGF2α, as well as sympathetic nervous system mediators in peritoneal fluids, the results suggest that the inhibition of prostaglandin release might represent one of the possible mechanisms of action exerted by the oil.
