TheLong-Term Data Preservation Task Force(LTDP TF) of the EOSC Association has since its establishment worked on mapping the status and further clarification of the meaning of long-term preservation within the EOSC. This work has resulted in anoverview and discussion paperto presents the context, activities and ongoing issues surrounding the EOSC Association Long Term Data Preservation Task Force. The paper describes our approach on preservation in the context of EOSC concerning outcomes, systems, and actions with attention to the vision, roles, finance, and networks needed to deliver preservation for FAIR digital objects in the EOSC. This document is intended to collect community feedback on our approach as well as future recommendations to be considered. Undue restrictions should not be placed on the users, while, at the same time, the legitimate interests of the owners of data should be protected. In the interests of preserving clarity and transparency while protecting the rights of data providers, the Creative Commons Attribution Licence (CC BY 4.0) is the recommended data licence for the IPCC. Open-source licenses are recommended for code that underlies IPCC data products.&nbsp

This lecture was given at the "IS-ENES3 Summer School on Data Science for Climate Modelling", 1-7 September 2022. It introduced the lectures on data management based on the practice example of the IPCC FAIR Guidelines, which had been developed for the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6).

Lessons learned from the AR6 experience and recommendations for AR7 are being developed by the IPCC Working Group I Technical Support Unit (WGI TSU) and Data Distribution Centre (DDC) representatives based on the implementation of FAIR Data Principles in the WGI AR6 Assessment.

The Memorandum of Understanding commits the partners to working together to meet the objectives which have been set out for the DDC at the 47th session of the IPCC.

The Citation Service is part of CMIP6's data infrastructure. A survey to collect feedback on the service, its tools and possible future directions was provided for the CMIP6 citation managers between 25 May and 15 July 2021. The survey shows the importance of data citations for CMIP data using DOIs and a general overall satisfaction with the provided Citation Service for CMIP6. Data citations should be disseminated as widely as possible. There is a wish for adding citation information in the NetCDF file headers. For the maintenance of the citation content depending on the local workflow both applications are required, GUI and API. Improvements of the documentation in quality and harmonization and the wish for a less complicated / easier-to-use application is expressed. The opinions on future directions are diverse: About half of the participants favor a better integration of the citation service into other documenting services ES-DOC and the participation registration (GitHub) and half a better integration into the data preparation workflow. Webinars and transparent issue tracking are regarded as useful additions to the important traditional communication channels email, user guides and webpage documentations.

A poster at RDA VP16: Software is as integral as a research paper or dataset for facilitating the full understanding and dissemination of research. The FORCE11 Software Citation Implementation WG journals task force, with representatives from major scholarly publishers, has written an article to provide broadly applicable guidance on software citation for communities & institutions publishing journals & proceedings. The article also includes brief instructions on how software can be made citable.

Da Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien in unserer Gesellschaft allgegenwär­tig geworden sind, sind wir zunehmend sowohl von digitalen Daten abhängig als auch auf Repositorien angewiesen, die den Zugang zu diesen Ressourcen und ihre Nutzung ermög­lichen. Repositorien müssen sich das Vertrauen der Communitys, denen sie dienen sollen, verdienen und unter Beweis stellen, dass sie zuverlässig und in der Lage sind, die in ihnen vorgehaltenen Daten adäquat zu verwalten. Nach einer jahrelangen öffentlichen Debatte und auf der Basis eines bestehenden Konsenses der Community haben mehrere Stakeholder, die verschiedene Bereiche der Gemeinschaft digitaler Reposi­torien repräsentieren, gemeinsam eine Reihe von Leitprinzipien für den Nachweis der Vertrauens­würdigkeit („Trustworthiness”) digitaler Repositorien aufgestellt und gebilligt. Transparency (Transparenz), Responsibility (Verantwortung), User focus (Nutzerfokussierung), Sustainability (Nachhaltig­keit) und Technology (Technologie): die TRUST-Prinzipien bieten einen gemeinsamen Rahmen, der die Erör­terung und Umsetzung von Best Practices in der digitalen Bestandserhaltung durch alle Stakeholder fördern soll. Die vorliegende deutsche Übersetzung des Dokuments entstand im Rahmen des Verbundprojektes EcoDM mit der Förderung des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) unter dem Förderkennzeichen 16DWWQP.

Con la adopción cada vez más generalizada de las TICs en nuestra sociedad, dependemos cada vez más de los datos digitales y de los repositorios que brindan acceso a ese tipo de recursos y nos permiten utilizarlos. Los repositorios deben ganarse la confianza de las comunidades a las que pretenden brindar servicios y demostrar que son confiables y capaces de administrar adecuadamente los datos que contienen. Tras un debate público que se prolongó durante un año y en función del consenso actual de la comunidad, varias partes interesadas, que representan diversos segmentos de la comunidad de los repositorios digitales, han colaborado para desarrollar y avalar un conjunto de principios rectores, para demostrar que el repositorio digital es confiable. The Data Distribution Centre (DDC) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was established in 1997 to facilitate the timely distribution of a consistent set of up-to-date scenarios of changes in climate and related environmental and socio-economic factors for use in climate impacts assessments, particularly to support the periodic IPCC Assessment Reports. This work could be seen as helping to bridge the gap between intercomparison of models which is conducted within CMIP (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project) and the broader problem of assessing climate change. This presentation will explore two key aspects of this work: firstly, supporting the exchange of data between the physical climate, climate impacts and socio-economic science domains and, secondly, ensuring that data used in assessments, which may be from dynamic research projects, is reliably curated to ensure long term access and proper tracking of data usage. These activities play a critical role in enabling robust assessments by an extended community effort while maintaining transparent data provenance. Our work is underpinned by engagement with the World Data System.
