Nano ( Recently, a model has been proposed, suggesting improvements in the two main dimensions alongthe value chain from the process of manufacturing the material to the proposed improvement in its final application - renewable energy: The VERDEQUANT manufacturing process of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) has been further developed towards one which is sustainable, free from fossils, utilizing by-products from cheese manufacturing in a cascaded process configuration [WO2021046586A1] or a 100% vegan alternative. The usefulness has been demonstrated recently in a publication (DOI: 10.1007/s10854-021-07524-8) ,mimicking optimum conditions for best efficiency of organic solar cells (OSCs) by introducing VERDEQUANTTM ZnO NPs as nanodiffusors. Strategies for production and use of nanomaterials have rapidly moved towards safety and sustainability. Beyond these requirements, the novel routes must prove to be able to preserve and even improve the performance of the resulting nanomaterials. Increasing demand of high-performance nanomaterials is mostly related to electronic components, solar energy harvesting devices, pharmaceutical industries, biosensors, and photocatalysis. Among nanomaterials, Zinc oxide (ZnO) is of special interest, mainly due to its environmental compatibility and vast myriad of possibilities related to the tuning and the enhancement of ZnO properties. Doping plays a crucial role in this scenario. In this work we report and discuss the properties of undoped ZnO as well as lanthanide (Eu, Tb, and La)-doped ZnO nanoparticles obtained by using whey, a by-product of milk processing, as a chelating agent, without using citrate nor any other chelators. The route showed to be very effective and feasible for the affordable large-scale production of both pristine and doped ZnO nanoparticles in powder form. Version of record

We demonstrate the first light sheet microscope using propagation invariant, accelerating Airy beams that operates both in single- and two-photon modes. The use of the Airy beam permits us to develop an ultra compact, high resolution light sheet system without beam scanning. In two-photon mode, an increase in the field of view over the use of a standard Gaussian beam by a factor of six is demonstrated. This implementation for light sheet microscopy opens up new possibilities across a wide range of biomedical applications, especially for the study of neuronal processes. Publisher PDF

In conventional femtosecond solid state lasers, the intracavity prism pair imposes a severe constraint on the resonator length and thus on the maximum achievable pulse repetition rate. Aside from the problem of introducing negative dispersion in short cavities, the major difficulty in generating ultrashort pulses at high repetition rates relates to the fact that the duration of the solitonlike mode-locked pulse τ ≈ |D|/ϕW is inversely proportional to both the self-phase modulation coefficient ϕ and the intracavity pulse energy W (D is the net cavity group delay dispersion, GDD), both of which decrease as the cavity length is reduced. Hence, it is imperative that the magnitude of negative intracavity GDD is kept at very small values if femtosecond pulses are to be generated at high repetition rates. However, high-order dispersion severely limits the reduction of negative GDD in oscillators using refractive dispersive components. Chirped dielectric mirrors can be designed to be virtually free from high-order dispersion. Therefore their use as resonator mirrors overcomes not only the limitation imposed by prismatic dispersion compensators on the cavity length, but also allows reducing |D| to significantly lower values than attainable in prism-controlled systems.
