Abstract

The synthesis of some mono- and binuclear titanium imido complexes supported by amidinate ligands such as N,N'-bis(trimethysilyl)-benzamidinato and N,N'-bis(cyclohexyl)acetamidinato was described. The characterization of the resulting metal complexes, the solution dynamics and the solid state structures were determined using NMR spectrum analysis. The kinetic and thermodynamic data for the processes involved and the relative contributions of the deltaH and deltaS terms were also identified.

Abstract

Oxo and imido compounds have attracted interest in the field of transition metals. Amidinate ligands have tended not to be used for metal oxo and imido chemistry. A number of researchers have shown interesting reactions involving amidinate-backed transition metals. The research aims to develop synthetic methods of producing new group 5 amidinate complexes which include metal-ligand multiple bonds. The synthesis of certain mononuclear niobium oxo and imido compounds is described, and their properties are set out.

40. A Descriptive Study of the Implementation of Five Component Elements of Randomly Selected Title VII Bilingual/Bicultural Programs.

Abstract

For this dissertation, 15 randomly selected Title VII bilingual/bicultural education programs were selected. The target population was the Spanish speaking student. In this study, the following program components were considered: (1) the students, (2) the teachers, (3) the parents, (4) the community-at-large, and (5) the curriculum. It was concluded that, though all Title VII programs purport to be implementing the five component elements of bilingual/bicultural education, there is evident variation in the importance given to each of the elements by the programs studied. A chart indicating the comparative degree of implementation of the five components in the 15 programs is included. (Author/AM)
