Abstract

Designing electrical circuits and devices is usually based on expertise in electronics and the thorough use of numerical software tools. This procedure can be time-consuming, and the designer has only one solution. This paper introduces a new approach focused on new concept design and optimization of specific circuits using symbolic expressions. The primary amplifier circuit, realized by a deep learning module, changes the value to reduce power dissipation. The control signal of the deep learning module is output from an amplifier that depends on the statistics of the input signal value.

Abstract

Phenylketonuria (PKU), an inborn error of metabolism, is caused by mutations in the phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) gene. In the Serbian population, 19 different PAH mutations have been identified. We used PAH mutations as molecular markers for population genetics study. The low homozygosity value of the PAH gene (0.10) indicates that PKU in Serbia is heterogeneous, reflecting numerous migrations throughout Southeast Europe. The strategy for molecular diagnostics of PKU was designed accordingly. To elucidate the origin of the most common (L48S) PKU mutation in Serbia, we performed haplotype analysis by PCR-RFLP. Our results suggest that the L48S mutation was imported into Serbia from populations with different genetic backgrounds.

Abstract

Циљ истраживања је сагледавање развоја лирског жанровског дискурса српске књижевности 20. века. На основу теоријско-аналитичке обраде идентификују се промене настале у лирском жанровском дискурсу српске књижевности у епохама историјске авангарде и неоавангарде. У првом делу истраживања успоставља се концепт жанровског дискурса, преглед релевантних теорија жанра и дефинисање концепта лирског. На основу савремених теоријских промишљања, жанровски дискурс одређује се као динамична историјска категорија, која активно учествује у променама књижевног дискурса. Идентификују се и основна својства жанровског дискурса и преиспитују се поступци који доводе до њихових модификација и трансформација. Лирски жанровски дискурс одређује се на основу савремених теорија лирике и у односу на традиционално поимање лирског. Други део истраживања обухвата идентификовање и експликацију поступака који су допринели модификацији и трансформацији српске поезије 20. века на корпусу који обухвата одабране ауторе епохе историјске авангарде и неоавангарде. Испитивањем и сагледавањем употребе поступака монтаже, колажа, прозаизације и визуелизације у оквиру жанровског репертоара, као и промена које су настале на тематско- мотивском, формалном и значењском плану, затим поступака који су подразумевали инклузију и негацију жанровских дискурса, заступа се становиште да су аутори авангардног и неоавангардног опредељења извршили значајан утицај на развој српске поезије 20. века. Књижевноисториографски и књижевнотеоријски приступ, компаративна перспектива, тумачење, интерпретација и анализа појединачних примера усклађени су са савременим теоријама жанра и постструктуралистичим концептима примењеним у истраживању. The aim of the research it to perceive the development of lyrical genre discourse in Serbian twentieth-century literature. Based on the theoretical and analytical examination, changes of lyrical generic discourse of Serbian avant-garde and neo-avant-garde poetry are identified. The concept of generic discourse is established in the first part of the examination along with the overview of the most prominent genre theories and definition of lyrical concept. Based on the contemporary genre theories, genre discourse is defined as dynamic historical category actively participating in changes of the discourse of literature. Fundamental traits of genre discourse are identified, and the acts leading to their transformation and modulations are examined. Discourse of the lyrical genre is defined based on the contemporary theories of the lyric, and as the opposite of the traditional lyrical genre. The second part of the research is devoted to identification and explication of artist’s acts that lead to modulations and transformation of Serbian twentieth-century poetry. Poets whose work was examined, were part of the historical avant-garde and neo-avant-garde poetic movements. Examining and analysing the usage of montage, collage, prose, and visualisation within the generic repertoires, along with the topical inventions, and changes of the form and meaning, inclusion and negation of the generic traits, the aim of the research is to show that authors of both, historical avant-garde and neo-avant-garde, made significant impact on Serbian twentieth-century poetry. Based on literary theory and literary history, with comparative perspective, interpretation, explication, and analysis of the examples, the examination is aligned with contemporary genre theories and poststructuralists concepts applied in the research.

The paper provides an overview of the theory of leadership which, within the organizational context, can contribute to the development of organizational creativity, as well as employee creativity . First, we observe the most dominant theories of creativity in the organizational context such as the componential theory of creativity and the theory of organizational creativity. Later we examine the theory of leadership within organizations that can increase and have a positive effect on creativity. Among the most important approaches to research of organizational behavior, and leadership theories, are the following : theories of personality traits, behavioral theory of leadership, situational leadership theory and new concepts of leadership. New concepts of leadership include charismatic leadership, transactional leadership theory and transformational leadership theory. According to the previous research, the latter, i.e. transformational leadership theory, has a large and significant impact on encouraging creativity within organizations.

Abstract

In order to successfully operate and remain in contemporary turbulent marketplace, organizations need to foster their employees' creativity, because it is a prerequisite of organizational innovation. As creativity is a precursor of innovation, and as innovation is an example of creative solutions implementation, there arenumerous situations which require creative behavior of employees and that can be labeled as 'problems'. Therefore, creative problem solving turns out to be relevant in understanding of creativity. The aim of this paper is to offer an answer to the question - how transformational leadership influences the improvement of the capacity for creative problem solving within the organization. On the basis of the relevant literature, but also numerous practical examples of successful companies, we realized that transformational leaders foster a creative attitude of the employees and help them to build capacity for creative problem solving. Also, we realized that many studies have neglected the psychological conditions under which this exchange takes place. As creative problem solving requires extensive and strenuous cognitive processes, we assumed that the role of psychological safety is necessary because employees need to feel free during proposing new creative solutions.

Abstract

Currently, many organizations are operating in turbulent socio-economic circumstances which do not represent a matter of certain time, but the only certainty and consistency. There is a necessity for an adequate organizational response to changes so that organizations can remain competitive. The paper highlights the importance of new forms of management and leadership in managing organizations. Transformational leadership represents a form of leadership that encourages and nurtures employee creativity at all levels within the organization - individual, group and organizational, which implies the generating and establishment of organizational innovation. Due to the fact that creativity is a necessary condition for organizational innovation, this paper points out that transformational leadership is essential for the induction of organizational innovations and their management which further results in organizational changes that contribute to the survival and competitiveness of organizations and business systems on the market.

Objective Genetic heterogeneity and incomplete phenotype penetrance complicate genetic analysis of Crohn's disease (M. Studies in western Europe have shown that CARD15 polymorphisms increase susceptibility to CD, but frequencies vary within different European populations. The aim here was to evaluate the prevalence of CARD15 mutations and their phenotypic correlation in a Serbian population. Materials and methods 131 patients with CD, 65 patients with ulcerative colitis, and 88 healthy controls were genotyped for three common mutations (R702W, G908R, Leu1007insC) by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism. chi(2) and Student's t-test were used for statistical assessment. Results At least one CARD15 disease-associated allele was found in 35.11 % patients with CD, 14.77% of healthy controls (P=0.001), and 7.69% patients with ulcerative colitis (P= 0.0001). The L1007fs mutation showed a significant association with CD (P LT 0.0001). The frequency of R702W mutant allele was almost equal in the control group and CD patients Univariate analyses established that CARD15 carriers had a significantly higher risk of isolated ileal location [P=0.042; odds ratio (OR) 2.30; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.02-5.191, fibrostenotic behavior (P LT 0.0001; OR 9.86; 95% CI: 4.29-22.62), surgical resection (P=0.036; OR 2.2; CI, 1.046-4.626), and earlier onset of disease (P=0.026). Conclusion This study confirms that CARD15 carriers, especially L1007fs mutants, in central Europeans have an increased risk of CD and it is associated with earlier onset, ileal, fibrostenotic disease and a higher risk of surgery. Any influence of latitude is not matched by an east-west divide on the genotype frequency and phenotype of CD within Europe.

Abstract

Fenilketonurija je urođena metabolička bolest prouzrokovana mutacijama u genu za fenilalanin hidroksilazu (PAH). U srpskoj populaciji je identifikovano 19 različitih PAH mutacija. PAH mutacije korišćene su kao molekularni markeri za populaciono-genetičko istraživanje. Niska vrednost homozigotnosti PAH gena (0,10) ukazuje na heterogenost fenilketonurije u Srbiji i odražava brojne migracije u regionu jugoistočne Evrope. U skladu sa tim, osmišljena je strategija molekularne dijagnostike fenilketonurije za Srbiju. U cilju rasvetljavanja porekla najčešće mutacije koja uzrokuje fenilketonuriju u Srbiji, L48S, urađena je haplotipska analiza PCR-RFLP metodom. Naši rezultati sugerišu da je L48S mutacija poreklom iz više populacija sa različitim genetičkim karakteristikama. ., Phenylketonuria (PKU), an inborn error of metabolism, is caused by mutations in the phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) gene. In the Serbian population, 19 different PAH mutations have been identified. We used PAH mutations as molecular markers for population genetics study. The low homozygosity value of the PAH gene (0.10) indicates that PKU in Serbia is heterogeneous, reflecting numerous migrations throughout Southeast Europe. The strategy for molecular diagnostics of PKU was designed accordingly. To elucidate the origin of the most common (L48S) PKU mutation in Serbia, we performed haplotype analysis by PCR-RFLP. Our results suggest that the L48S mutation was imported into Serbia from populations with different genetic backgrounds.

Abstract

Background: Postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) increase the morbidity and mortality of surgery in obese patients. High levels of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) with lung recruitment maneuvers may improve intraoperative respiratory function, but they can also compromise hemodynamics, and the effects on PPCs are uncertain. We hypothesized that intraoperative mechanical ventilation using high PEEP with periodic recruitment maneuvers, as compared with low PEEP without recruitment maneuvers, prevents PPCs in obese patients. Methods/design The PRotective Ventilation with Higher versus Lower PEEP during General Anesthesia for Surgery in OBESE Patients (PROBESE) study is a multicenter, two-arm, international randomized controlled trial. In total, 2013 obese patients with body mass index ≥35 kg/m2 scheduled for at least 2 h of surgery under general anesthesia and at intermediate to high risk for PPCs will be included. Patients are ventilated intraoperatively with a low tidal volume of 7 ml/kg (predicted body weight) and randomly assigned to PEEP of 12 cmH2O with lung recruitment maneuvers (high PEEP) or PEEP of 4 cmH2O without recruitment maneuvers (low PEEP). The occurrence of PPCs will be recorded as collapsed composite of single adverse pulmonary events and represents the primary endpoint. Discussion To our knowledge, the PROBESE trial is the first multicenter, international randomized controlled trial to compare the effects of two different levels of intraoperative PEEP during protective low tidal volume ventilation on PPCs in obese patients. The results of the PROBESE trial will support anesthesiologists in their decision to choose a certain PEEP level during general anesthesia for surgery in obese patients in an attempt to prevent PPCs. Abstract

Brown adipose tissue (BAT) promotes a lean and healthy phenotype and improves insulin sensitivity. In response to cold or exercise, brown fat cells also emerge in the white adipose tissue (WAT; also known as beige cells), a process known as browning. Here we show that the development of functional beige fat in the inguinal subcutaneous adipose tissue (ingSAT) and perigonadal visceral adipose tissue (pgVAT) is promoted by the depletion of microbiota either by means of antibiotic treatment or in germ-free mice. This leads to improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity and decreased white fat and adipocyte size in lean mice, obese leptin-deficient (ob/ob) mice and high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice. Such metabolic improvements are mediated by eosinophil infiltration, enhanced type 2 cytokine signaling and M2 macrophage polarization in the subcutaneous white fat depots of microbiota-depleted animals. The metabolic phenotype and the browning of the subcutaneous fat are impaired by the suppression of type 2 cytokine signaling, and they are reversed by recolonization of the antibiotic-treated or germ-free mice with microbes. These results provide insight into the microbiota-fat signaling axis and beige-fat development in health and metabolic disease.
