The article argues that Paul's use of dikaio- terminology, the language of 'justification,' has been too narrowly construed by N. T. Wright in his latest monograph on the subject. Wright's position, that Paul employs the language of justification to signify a divinely bestowed change in status, tells only part of the story. This language also connotes real transformation. Abstract This article offers a re-reading of γραψα in 2 Cor 2:9. It argues that this verb should be interpreted as an epistolary aorist-thereby indicating a reason for why Paul is presently writing-rather than as a preterit aorist, referring to the 'tearful letter.' Reading γραψα as an epistolary aorist in 2:9 resolves tensions with the preceding context produced by the typical interpretation. It also results in a fully coherent reading of 2:5-11, where Paul exhorts the Corinthians to receive back the offender. This study supplements K.L. This article argues that the logic and mode of argumentation of Luke 12:13-34 are illuminated when one reads the pericope as an elaboration of a chreia, or saying, of Jesus concerning covetousness. Specifically, this passage contains all of the elements—including rationale, contrary statement, analogy from nature, historical example, and authoritative judgment—that are outlined in a progymnastic exercise attributed to the second century C.E. rhetorician Hermogenes of Tarsus. Taken together, these elements make up what classical rhetoricians called a “complete argument.” This study serves as a complement to the earlier analysis of Luke 12:13-34 by Abraham J. This article discusses the apostle Paul's reading of the Septuagint translation of the Old Testament Psalm 115:1a through the lens of christology. The author states that is was a common convention to read the words of the psalms as the words of Christ.
