The surveys of the Istanbul Prehistoric Research Project that have been carried out since 2014 in and around the Istanbul Büyükçekmece Lake, discovered not only prehistoric materials but also a considerable number of small findings, ceramics and architectural elements from the Classical Period. A great deal of effort was spent to identify the long wall, extending roughly along the lake"s ancient coast line, which surfaces during the years of drought when the lake"s water recedes considerably. Antique geographers mention the region in a line or two, as a small town named after Athyra(s), a river flowing into the Marmara Sea from the north. Procopius, an important historian of the 6th Century, informs us in his book „On Buildings"(Greek: ΠερὶΚτισμάτων, PerìKtismáton; Latin: De aedificiis) that Emperor Justinian built a reservoir at the request of people affected by drought in a town called Athyra, near Constantinople. At first glance, knowing that the lake now not only supplies its ever-growing nearby population but also provides fresh water to Istanbul, the information given by Procopius didn"t seem to be convincing. The team focused its efforts to investigate if the embankment belongs to the mentioned dam, or not.The team consulted the historic records and also correlated with the other surface findings such as different artifacts, ceramics, and architectural elements to build a context. Underwater Side Scan Sonar, Geomorphological and Paleoclimatological work confirmed that the region, despite its ample fresh water sources available nowadays, was suffering a serious drought during the sixth century.

Oral swabs, sputum, and blood samples from 18 asymptomatic and symptomatic patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection were examined using RT-PCR testing in order to assess the risk of transfusion-related transmission. In asymptomatic patients as well as patients with flu-like symptoms and fever, no SARS-CoV-2 RNA could be detected in the blood or serum despite a clearly positive result in all throat swabs. As patients with symptoms of infectious disease will not be admitted to blood donation, the risk for transfusion transmission of SARS-CoV-2 seems to be negligible.https://doi.org/10.1111/trf.15841

Impfungen sind eine effektive Maßnahme zur Erhaltung der Gesundheit aller Bevölkerungsgruppen. Impflücken können zu einem Ausbruch impfpräventabler Erkrankungen führen. Um den Impfgedanken zu stärken, ist es besonders wichtig, reale und vermeintliche Risiken von Impfungen zeitnah zu detektieren, zu untersuchen und transparent zu kommunizieren. Grundlage dafür ist, dass Verdachtsfälle von Impfkomplikationen möglichst zahlreich gemeldet werden. Im Folgenden wird eine Übersicht der dem Paul­Ehrlich-Institut (PEI) im Jahr 2015 gemeldeten Verdachtsfälle von Impfnebenwirkungen/ Impfkomplikationen vorgestellt.

Zusammenfassung Die Impfung gegen Hepatitis B wurde im Oktober 1995 von der ständigen Impfkommission am Robert Koch-Institut (STIKO) in den Katalog der für alle Kinder und Jugendlichen empfohlenen Impfungen aufgenommen. Die zuvor in Deutschland praktizierte Impfung von Risikokollektiven hatte zwar zu einer Abnahme der Erkrankungsfälle bei Angehörigen von Heilberufen, nicht aber zu einer Beeinflussung der Inzidenz der Gesamtbevölkerung geführt. Die steigende Zahl der in den Jahren 1995 bis 2000 auf den deutschen Markt gebrachten Impfdosen lässt auf eine zunehmende Akzeptanz der Impfung durch die Kinderärzte schließen. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit werden die spontan aus Deutschland gemeldeten Fälle unerwünschter Arzneimittelwirkungen (UAW) nach Anwendung der rekombinanten Vakzine vorgestellt und diskutiert.
