Abstract

The article focuses on the harmful effects of excessive illumination on works of art and precautions that should be taken in designing lighting schemes for museums. It cites that daylight is the most damaging form of illumination that is used in museums. According to the article, the deterioration caused by daylight that is capable of inflicting on sensitive objects is possible to minimize. It further states that objects should not be exposed to light unnecessarily, and blinds and curtains should be drawn and lights switched off when the museum is closed.
