Abstract

The role of cholinergic and serotonergic mechanisms on gastrointestinal motility was analyzed in normal human subjects during motilin-induced phase III antroduodenal contractions. Induction of premature antral phase III contractions in humans by the administration of exogenous motilin was inhibited by atropine indicating the role of muscarinic neural receptors in mediating gastric motility. However, atropine did not inhibit motilin-induced doudenal contractions indicating the presence of different stimulatory pathways for motilin-induced duodenal and antral contraction.

Abstract

The McClean Lake mill, Saskatchewan, designed to produce 6 000 000 lb/a U3O8, with feed grades up to 7% U3O8, has been operational since June 1999. The design adopted workplace nominal exposure-rate objectives and ensures that workers are separated from radioactive ore through the use of enclosed slurry handling and processing systems. Shielding and ventilation features protect from external gamma radiation and airborne radioactive materials. Abstract

Dynorphin A is a potent opioid peptide with high specificity for the kappa-opioid receptor. The kappa-agonists are of clinical interest because kappa-receptors have been found to mediate analgesia with low addictive potential. The N-terminal fragment Dynorphin has high potency and kappa selectivity comparable to the natural 17 amino-acid peptide. The membrane is believed to play an important role in the receptor-peptide interactions. We report the conformational analysis of Dynorphin A at the surface of small uni-lamellar phosphatidylcholine vesicles.
