Parents' involvement is highly needed for ensuring holistic development of their words; however parents can only assist the child when they themselves have adequate knowledge, required skills, and proper awareness regarding various aspects of children's growth and development. To have adequate communication skill among parents, ensuring better language and communication in their words is one of the most significant aspects. Hence, the present study seeks to examine the impact of training programme on developing functional Sign language among parents of students with deafness. Pre-test-post-test experimental design was employed for the study. Samples were selected through convenient sampling. The collected data were analyzed using t-test. Results show statistically significant difference between pre and post test scores of functional Sign language of parents of students with deafness post intervention. However, no significant difference was found out between pre and post test scores of functional Sign language of parents of students with deafness after training programme with reference to their educational status, gender, age, and locality. The findings are presented and discussed as to justify the need for training parents in functional Sign language to develop their communicative skills properly which in turn can ensure better communicative and other allied skills in their words.

A new ODF machine for high‐viscosity liquid crystals (LCs) is successfully constructed and tested using ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs). Innovatively, heating over 100°C, filling FLC in a vacuum, and sealing can automatically be done in one reaction pot. No glue leakage exists in the FLC samples. Good alignment without defect and electro‐optic (EO) performance are achieved. The response time is 33 μs, and relaxation time is 27 μs. Contrast Ratio (CR)=10000:1 (@ 632 nm). We achieve high‐framerate (< 100 μs) high‐contrast‐ratio ferroelectric liquid crystal displays (FLCD) on Gen 4.5. Innovatively, a new polyimide (PI) that is suitable for ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) alignment is synthesized and tested on the production line. It replaces Nylon 6 (N6), which was the barrier to the commercialization of FLCD. Moreover, a new FLC is synthesized to match requirements in mass production. Additionally, various materials were studied to investigate the surface energy and relative performance. It is not only proof of the feasibility on the production line, but also a significant step towards the commercialization of field‐sequential‐color high‐resolution FLCDs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Using a room‐temperature dip‐coating technique, we propose a cinnamate‐unit‐phosphonic‐acid‐based surfactant alignment material that can be orientated by linear polarized light. Using the technique, we can treat a substrate simply and quickly, achieving a uniform pretilt angle of approximately 86° with a low dose of polarized UV light. We examined the optical and electrical properties of the alignment material under different conditions, including pretilt angles under different irradiation doses, voltage holding ratio (VHR) and residual direct circuit (RDC) when using different solvents, stability, etc. The results show that the material has acceptable performance. Since the phosphonic acid series photosensitive materials still have much room for optimization, we believe it is a potential new generation of photosensitive surfactant alignment materials. Optimized ODF machine for large scale display filled by ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs) is developed. Fast FLC filling at high temperature (100°C) in the vacuum, and sealing can automatically be done in one reaction pot. An uniform cell with good alignment quality and electro‐optical (E&O) performance are achieved which shows high contrast ratio (CR) =10000 :1 and a fast response time (33 μs) at room temperature, respectively. Metasurfaces have ushered in a huge development for their superior ability in manipulating light properties including phase, amplitude, and polarization, which show great potential as alternatives for the refractive optical devices. Recently, many applications of metasurface including metalens have been proposed and investigated, aiming at substituting their refractive counterparts. However, the commonly used fabrication approaches employ electron-beam lithography (EBL) followed by dry etching or atomic layer deposition (ALD) of dielectric materials, which are expensive and inefficient. Besides, dry etching of dielectric materials at sub-100 nm scale with a high aspect ratio is challenging. Herein, a new approach for dielectric metalens fabrication is presented, which combines multilayer nanoimprint lithography and solution phase epitaxy. High aspect ratio ZnO nanopillars with a height-to-diameter ratio of over 7:1 are demonstrated. By using the multilayer nanoimprint lithography, increased aspect ratio nanostructures from shallow imprinting molds are obtained. The highly anisotropic growth characteristic enables nanopillars to grow at a height that exceeds the resist thickness. With this ability, ZnO metalenses are fabricated where the height of nanopillar reaches 1.1 μm, achieving a focusing efficiency of 50%. The novel technology is proposed as a quantum rod‐based truly random number generator. The objective is to construct a device array by stacking together 5 layers: 1) backlight‐unit; 2) thin‐film transistor liquid crystal display; 3) quarter waveplate; 4) & 5) quantum rod films, red and green, respectively, aligned uniformly in‐plane yet orthogonally to each other. QR's anisotropic absorption nature plays a key role in generating 4 different pixel outputs: 0 ‐ pixel is off; 1 ‐ excited pixel is predominantly green; 2 ‐ yellowish; 3 ‐ red.
