Aim: To examine the ethical leadership behaviors among division head nurses in advanced hospitals under Ministry of Public Health. Method: A qualitative study with Delphi technique was used to collect data. The participants consisted of 12 administrators who have obtained ethical awards or published ethical research and 17 experts on the ethical issue. The data was generated from open-ended interviews and the questionnaires related to division head nurse's ethical leadership. The content validity was 0.84. The index of item-objective congruence was 0.57 to 1.00. Result: The behaviors of head nurses' ethical leadership included 57 items. Thirteen dimensions were established including: caring, responsibility, honesty, managing fairness, integrity, advocacy, consciousness, sacrifice, friendly interpersonal relationship, ethical communication, reinforcement, ethical decision - making, and ethical organization climate. Conclusion: This study demonstrated behaviors related ethical leadership which will be an enable the ethical leadership training for division head nurses, and can be applied in providing guidelines to enhance the ethical leadership competencies of division head nurses. Age-related cognitive and somatic motor skills changes have been linked to impaired driving abilities. Taxi drivers play an important role in providing public transportation services and security. This study aimed to examine the level of fitness-to-drive (FTD) and identify the predictors of self-reported traffic injury among the older taxi drivers. Taxi drivers 60 years and older in Bangkok and the metropolitan area were enrolled. Hierarchical regression models were carried out to examine the effects of demographics, FTD, and metacognition towards self-reported road traffic injury. Totally, 46.1% of the respondents were classified as at-risk drivers. Drivers with alcohol consumption and low risk perception toward road safety were more likely to experience road traffic injury. Aim: To determine the components of the strategic leadership competencies of chief nurse executives., Background: The nursing executives are currently required to have strategic competencies including a strategic vision, a capability to inspire nursing staff to use their maximal potentials for the highest benefits of the organisation., Methods: This research was mixed methods with phenomenology qualitative design and factor analysis. The samples consisted of 253 nurse executives from 65 private hospitals in Thailand. The content validity test was at 0.91, and the reliability was at 0.91. The data were analysed using content analysis and confirmatory factor analysis., Results: There were 7 components of the strategic leadership with 75 competencies with factor loadings as follows: strategic-innovative thinking and planning (0.89), developing today's and tomorrow's leaders (0.89), relating the parts to the whole (0.82), building partnership (0.78), making it happen (0.78), corporate spirit (0.73) and giving direction (0.66)., Conclusion: The new knowledge was 7 components with 75 competencies particularly the top 3 components for developing nurse executives in strategic thinking and innovation of nursing management to become strong leaders of today and tomorrow., Implications for Nursing Management: These findings contribute to leadership development for chief nurse executives in possessing the administrative capability and leadership attributes., (© 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.)

Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of including an herbal compress in a traditional Thai massage regimen for the care of low back pain in the elderly., Design and Methods: This study was a randomised controlled trial. The sample consisted of 140 patients suffering from non-specific chronic low back pain, who were randomly assigned to either the TTM (n = 70) or TMH (n = 70) group. The primary outcome was pain intensity (Visual Analogue Scale), and the secondary outcomes were disability, back performance and quality of life. The outcome measurements were assessed at baseline, 6 weeks and 15 weeks., Results: There were no statistically significant differences in the primary and secondary outcomes between the two study groups (p-value > 0.05). Objectives: To investigate the effects of Swedish massage with aromatic ginger oil (SMGO) on chronic low back pain and disability in older adults compared with traditional Thai massage (TTM)., Design: Randomized controlled trial., Setting: Massage clinic in Ratchaburi province, Thailand., Participants: 164 patients were screened; 140 were eligible, and randomized to either SMGO (n=70) or TTM (n=70)., Intervention: Trained staff provided participants with a 30-min SMGO or TTM twice a week for five weeks., Measurement: The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) assessed immediate effect (after each massage) and the short form McGill Pain Questionnaire (MPQ) assessed effectiveness of massage in short-term (six weeks) and long-term (15 weeks). Disability improvement was measured by the Owestry Disability Questionnaire (ODQ) at baseline, short- and long-term., Results: Both SMGO and TTM led to significant improvements in pain intensity (p<0.05) and disability (p<0.05) across the period of assessments, indicating immediate, short- and long-term effectiveness. SMGO was more effective than TTM in reducing pain (p=0.04) and improving disability at short- and long-term assessments (p=0.04)., Conclusions: These findings suggest that the integration of either SMGO or TTM therapy as additional options to provide holistic care to older people with chronic low back pain could be considered by health professionals.
