Achieving optimal aesthetics, function and phonetics with implant-supported restorations depends largely on the amount of bone present at the site where implant has to be placed. Sometimes, patient reports with compromised conditions which makes the implant placement difficult. Today, reconstruction procedures such as autogenous bone graft and guided bone regeneration make the implant placement possible in different ridge deficient cases. This case report describes step-by-step procedure of restoring the missing maxillary right central incisor with implant-supported prostheses. In missing left central incisor region, the alveolar bony defect was corrected by autogenous bone graft obtained from symphysis region, for restoration with implant prostheses.

In the anterior region, the common reason for tooth loss is due to traumatic injury or congenital anomaly. Loss of a single tooth may cause functional and esthetic deficits to the patient. There are different treatment options available for replacing a missing incisor. Implant dentistry should be considered as first treatment alternative for replace a missing tooth. This case report presents the replacement of a missing maxillary left central incisor in a compromised site with dental implants along with bone graft followed by frenectomy to obtain a good clinical result and for better function and esthetics of the patient.

Background: The quality of life can be improved by enhancing the standards of the medical treatment at all levels of the healthcare delivery system. A medical audit oversees the observance of these standards. Prescription Audit offers the most comprehensive overview of performance, detailing parameter as per the check list of prescription audit. Aim: To monitor, evaluate and suggest modifications (if necessary) in the prescribing practices of medical practitioners. Methods: The observational study was conducted over a period of 6 months and data were collected from 1093 prescriptions collected from outpatient department of a tertiary care teaching hospital in India. Results: Total 1093 prescriptions were evaluated for the Audit, out of which 56.4% were Male & 43.6% were Female cases. Majority of the study subjects belonged to the age group of 40-59 years (32.4%). During the study mainly twelve parameter were assessed according to the checklist provided by the Hospital with total 1093 samples of prescription audit, only 2.2 % (280) cases had the non –compliance, 64.5% (8464) cases had compliance and 33.3% (4372) not applicable to this parameters. Conclusion: The results obtained from the study shows the prevailing prescribing habits at our institution. Many of the prescribing trends from this study are a cause of concern and need attention. This study reveals that the auditing of prescription in terms of rationality, it remains poor. The value of such audits in generating and testing hypotheses on inappropriate prescribing will definitely create an intervention to improve prescribing habits and ultimately patient care will be improved. Introduction The widespread use of cell phone in recent years has raised many questions whether their use is safe to operator who is exposed to Electromagnetic Waves (EMV). Aim To find out the effect of cell phone emitted radiations on the orofacial structures. Materials and methods To identify suitable literature, an electronic search was performed using Medline, Pubmed and EBSCO host database in December 2016. The search was focused on effect of cell phone on orofacial structures. Among the literature available in English, the screening of the related titles and abstracts was done, and only those articles were selected for full text reading that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Results The initial literature search resulted in 360 articles out of which only 24 articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were included in this systematic review. Conclusion Cell phone emitted radiations had their adverse effect on salivary glands and facial nerves. Studies showed that cell phone emitted radiations had effects on oral mucosal cells and causes changes in salivary flow rate. It was still unclear that cell phone radiations cause tumours of the salivary glands.

The incidence of chromosomal aberrations was analysed in peripheral blood lymphocytes of occupationally exposed people having cumulative doses of 500 mSv. The exposed individuals showed higher frequencies of dicentrics as well as acentrics than normal controls. Absorbed radiation dose was calculated by using in vitro dose response curve established for Cobalt-60 gamma rays. In the control constituting 17 healthy individuals, two dicentrics were detected among 3700 metaphases analysed. In the exposed group 27 dicentrics and one centric ring was detected among 8400 metaphases analysed. Due to small number of dicentrics scored in each individual, the dose estimate suffers from a large statistical uncertainty. The collective dose was found to be 1.89 Gy. This is in good agreement with the corrected physical doses, assuming a mean life of 10 years for the disappearance of lymphocytes. The physical doses accumulated during the last 10 years of occupation were also in good agreement with the biological dose estimate.

Management of patients with worn dentition is complex and difficult. The management of tooth wear, especially attrition, is becoming a subject of increasing interest in the prosthodontic literature. The specific objectives of this treatment were to restore the masticatory functions by prosthetic rehabilitation of missing teeth, and then treating the periodontally and endodontically involved teeth. This case report presents a 65-year-old woman who was referred for restoration of her worn and missing teeth. Full-mouth rehabilitation of the patient with severely worn dentition and an uneven occlusal plane was done and also the collapse bite was regained by raising the vertical dimension of occlusion by 2 mm within the limit of free-way space. In this case report, the vertical dimension was regain, missing teeth were replaced which enhance esthetics. With better treatment planning and patient’s psychological counseling, dentists can improve patient’s quality of life.

Different impression techniques have been given in literature for the fabrication of ocular prosthesis. An accurate impression is required for the perfect fitting of the prosthesis. This article describes a modified impression with the help of dispensing gun with simple, accurate and time saving technique.

If the economic status of the patient permits, it is the responsibility of the clinician to explain the benefits of dental implant to replace a single missing tooth. This case report describes the replacement of a missing maxillary left central incisor tooth of a patient with dental implants for better function and esthtics.

Dental casting alloys are widely used in contact with oral tissue for many years now. With the development of new dental alloys over the past 15 years, many questions remain unanswered about their biologic safety. Concepts and current issues concerning the response to the biologic effects of dental casting alloys are presented. In this paper, samples of three commercially available nickel-chrome (Ni-cr) casting alloys (Dentaurum, Bego, Sankin) were taken to assess their corrosion behavior, using potentiodynamic polarization method (electrochemical method) with fusayama artificial saliva as an electrolyte medium to check for their biocompatibility. The parameters for corrosion rate and corrosion resistance were obtained from computer-controlled corrosion schematic instrument, namely, potentiostat through corrosion software (power CV). The results obtained were analyzed by classic Tafel analysis. Statistical analysis was done by Student's -test and ANOVA test. It was concluded that Dentarum and Bego showed satisfactory corrosive behavior, with exception of Sankin which depicted higher corrosion rate and least resistance to corrosion. Thus, the selection of an alloy should be made on the basis of corrosion resistance and biologic data from dental manufactures.

Surgical resection of lips is a relatively rare procedure. A defective lip may cause the patient to feel socially vulnerable as well as functionally handicapped and the defect will influence the patient's self-esteem and body image. Patients with labial defects also experience speech problems along with drying and crusting of the tissues in the area of defect. The lip and cheek provide a valve mechanism for speech. Rehabilitation of patients with this type of surgery creates numerous challenges for both the surgical and the maxillofacial prosthetic teams. The goals of prosthetic treatment include regaining favorable speech and restoration of esthetics. This case report presents a 65-year-old woman who was referred for restoration of her lost lip. This case paper describes a quick and simple method of positioning magnets with lip prosthesis attached to maxillary denture and thus esthetics and speech of the patient is restored. Use of retention magnets simplify the clinical and laboratory phase retains the denture and makes it stable and comfortable for the patient. The advent of magnets has enhanced the dental practitioner's capabilities with a remarkably improved potential for increasing prosthesis stability and preserving tissue.
