- Abstract
It has been 30 years since Oscar De La Hoya stood on a platform in Barcelona, Spain, as an Olympic gold medal was placed around his neck, 30 years since the dream that had long resided in his mind became reality, 30 years since he, at age 19, surpassed his grandfather, Vicente, his father, Joel, and his older brother, Joel Jr., all of whom had put on gloves and stepped into a ring to do battle.
