2. Multilayer circuits with thick-film polymer insulation

Abstract

Three design and technological versions of multilayer circuit have been developed. The interlayer and protective isolation in these circuits was performed with thick (10—30 micron) heat-resistant photosensitive organic dielectric film. Such performance allows to attach component leads to the contact pads on the interlayer isolation with the use of ultrasonic welding and soldering. Number of interlayer connections of conductors in such circuits is minimized. The complexity and cost of manufacturing of the circuits can be reduced by 2—3 times compared to known thin-film prototypes.

3. Method for evaluating the quality of thin-film board

Abstract

A method for estimation of the quality of a thin-film board has been developed, based on the results of resistance measuring and instrumental errors calculation. Recommendations are given for the exclusion of gross errors in the application of the method. The practical estimation carried out shows the high efficiency of the developed algorithms. This method allows to increase the boards yield by 1,5—2 times.

12. Freezing in Ising Ferromagnets

Abstract

We investigate the final state of zero-temperature Ising ferromagnets which are endowed with single-spin flip Glauber dynamics. Surprisingly, the ground state is generally not reached for zero initial magnetization. In two dimensions, the system either reaches a frozen stripe state with probability approximately equal to 1/3 or the ground state with probability approximately equal to 2/3. In greater than two dimensions, the probability to reach the ground state or a frozen state rapidly vanishes as the system size increases and the system wanders forever in an iso-energy set of metastable states. An external magnetic field changes the situation drastically -- in two dimensions the favorable ground state is always reached, while in three dimensions the field must exceed a threshold value to reach the ground state. For small but non-zero temperature, relaxation to the final state first proceeds by the formation of very long-lived metastable states, similar to the zero-temperature case, before equilibrium is reached., Comment: 10 pages, 17 figures, 2-column revtex format

Abstract

We investigate the relaxation of homogeneous Ising ferromagnets on finite lattices with zero-temperature spin-flip dynamics. On the square lattice, a frozen two-stripe state is apparently reached approximately 1/4 of the time, while the ground state is reached otherwise. The asymptotic relaxation is characterized by two distinct time scales, with the longer stemming from the influence of a long-lived diagonal stripe ``defect''. In greater than two dimensions, the probability to reach the ground state rapidly vanishes as the size increases and the system typically ends up wandering forever within an iso-energy set of stochastically ``blinking'' metastable states., Comment: 4 pages in column format, 6 figures

Abstract

We study the low-temperature coarsening of an Ising chain subject to spin-exchange dynamics and a small driving force. This dynamical system reduces to a domain diffusion process, in which entire domains undergo nearest-neighbor hopping, except for the shortest domains -- dimers -- which undergo long-range hopping. This system is characterized by two independent length scales: the average domain length L(t)~t^{1/2} and the average dimer hopping distance l(t)~ t^{1/4}. As a consequence of these two scales, the density C_k(t) of domains of length k does not obey scaling. This breakdown of scaling also leads to the density of short domains decaying as t^{-5/4}, instead of the t^{-3/2} decay that would arise from pure domain diffusion., Comment: 7 pages, 9 figures, revtex 2-column format

Abstract

Cerrenaceae is a small family of polypores and hydnoid fungi in the order Polyporales (Basidiomycota). The family consists of white-rot fungi, some of which are serious tree pathogens. Combining morphological evidence with a phylogenetic dataset of six genetic markers, we revise generic concepts in the family and propose a seven-genus classification system for the family. Two genera are introduced as new: the monotypic Acanthodontia for Radulodon cirrhatinus, and Lividopora for the Rigidoporus vinctus complex. We re-introduce the name Somion for the Spongipellis delectans complex. Other recognized genera in the family are Cerrena, Irpiciporus, Pseudolagarobasidium, and Radulodon. New species introduced are Irpiciporus branchiformis from Tanzania, Lividopora armeniaca, and L. facilis from Southeast Asia, and Somion strenuum from East Asia. We provide nomenclatural comments on all the names combined to the above Cerrenaceae genera and typify Cerrena unicolor, C. zonata, Polyporus carneopallens (= L. vincta), Somion occarium, and S. unicolor. The genus Hyphoradulum belongs to Cystostereaceae (Agaricales), and we transfer the type species H. conspicuum to Crustomyces. Our study highlights the importance of integrating different basidiocarp types in analyses when revising genus classification in macrofungi. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The paper shows the study results. In its course the correlation between the share of vehicle emissions in the ambient air composition and the incidence of circulatory diseases of working age population and retirees in Saratov districts with a developed road transport infrastructure was analyzed. To do this, we have considered a pair correlation using Spearman's rank-order criterion between the number of individuals with firstly notified cases of circulatory diseases to the population of the district and the share of vehicle exhaust gases in the ambient air pollution of the district. The following Saratov region districts have been determined as making the greatest contribution to incidence: Krasnopartizansky, Khvalynsky and Turkovsky. These districts are characterized by a developed trunk infrastructure. Moreover, this may be due to medical and social factors (accessibility of specialized medical attention, availability of manufacturing enterprises, etc.), as well as landscape and climatic peculiarities of the Saratov region. Abstract

Cerinomyces (Dacrymycetes, Basidiomycota) is a genus traditionally defined by corticioid basidiocarps, in contrast to the rest of the class, which is characterized by gelatinous ones. In the traditional circumscription the genus is polyphyletic, and the monotypic family Cerinomycetaceae is paraphyletic. Aiming for a more concise delimitation, we revise Cerinomyces s.l. with a novel phylogeny based on sequences of nrDNA (SSU, ITS, LSU) and protein-coding genes (RPB1, RPB2, TEF1 alpha). We establish that monophyletic Cerinomyces s.s. is best characterized not by the corticioid morphology, but by a combination of traits: hyphal clamps, predominantly aseptate thin-walled basidiospores, and low content of carotenoid pigments. In our updated definition, Cerinomyces s.s. encompasses five well-supported phylogenetic clades divided into two morphological groups: (i-iii) taxa with arid corticioid basidiocarps, including the generic type C. pallidus; and (iv-v) newly introduced members with gelatinous basidiocarps, like Dacrymyces enatus and D. tortus. The remaining corticioid species of Cerinomyces s.l. are morphologically distinct and belong to the Dacrymycetaceae: our analysis places the carotenoid-rich Cerinomyces canadensis close to Femsjonia, and we transfer the clamps-lacking C. grandinioides group to Dacrymyces. In addition, we address genera related to Cerinomyces s.l. historically and morphologically, such as Ceracea, Dacryonaema and Unilacryma. Overall, we describe twenty-four new species and propose nine new combinations in both Cerinomycetaceae and Dacrymycetaceae.

Abstract

Nomenclatural type definitions are one of the most important concepts in biological nomenclature. Being physical objects that can be re-studied by other researchers, types permanently link taxonomy (an artificial agreement to classify biological diversity) with nomenclature (an artificial agreement to name biological diversity). Two proposals to amend the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN), allowing DNA sequences alone (of any region and extent) to serve as types of taxon names for voucherless fungi (mainly putative taxa from environmental DNA sequences), have been submitted to be voted on at the 11th International Mycological Congress (Puerto Rico, July 2018). We consider various genetic processes affecting the distribution of alleles among taxa and find that alleles may not consistently and uniquely represent the species within which they are contained. Should the proposals be accepted, the meaning of nomenclatural types would change in a fundamental way from physical objects as sources of data to the data themselves. Such changes are conducive to irreproducible science, the potential typification on artefactual data, and massive creation of names with low information content, ultimately causing nomenclatural instability and unnecessary work for future researchers that would stall future explorations of fungal diversity. We conclude that the acceptance of DNA sequences alone as types of names of taxa, under the terms used in the current proposals, is unnecessary and would not solve the problem of naming putative taxa known only from DNA sequences in a scientifically defensible way. 39. Multi-agent exploration of indoor environments under limited communication constraints

Abstract

This thesis considers cooperation strategies for teams of agents autonomously exploring an unknown indoor environment under limited communication constraints. The primary application considered is Urban Search-and-Rescue, although other applications are possible, such as surveying hazardous areas. We focus on developing cooperation strategies that enable periodic communication between the exploring agents and the base station (human operators). Such strategies involve an inherent trade-off between allocating team resources towards facilitating communication and increasing the speed of exploration. We propose two classes of approaches to address this problem: using opportunistic rendezvous to guide the team behaviour, and explicitly arranging rendezvous between agents. In the opportunistic approach, the allocation of team resources between exploration and communication can be indicated with a single numerical parameter between 0 and 1 -- the return ratio -- which leads to complex emergent cooperative behaviour. We show that in some operating environments agents can benefit from explicitly arranging rendezvous. We propose a novel definition of a rendezvous location as a tuple of points and show how such locations can be generated so that the topology of the environment and the communication ranges of agents can be exploited. We show how such rendezvous locations can be used to both improve the speed of exploration and to improve team connectivity by allowing relays to contribute to the overall exploration. We evaluate these approaches extensively in simulation and discuss their applicability in search-and-rescue scenarios.

Abstract

This paper describes MRESim, a multi-robot exploration simulator which aims to provide a middle ground between the RoboCup Agent and Virtual Robot competitions. A detailed description of this new infrastructure is provided, followed by examples and case studies of successful research outcomes arising from the use of MRESim. 48. Morphological and molecular diversity of the Phanerochaete sordida complex (Polyporales, Basidiomycota) in temperate Eurasia

Abstract

Based on a morphological study of more than 70 herbarium specimens (AR, CWU, H, INEP, LE, OHHI, S, TAA, VLA) from temperate Eurasia, the differences (shape and size of basidiospores and hymenial cells, as well as cystidia) between two groups within the Phanerochaete sordida species complex have been revealed. The phylogenetic analysis of ITS sequences shows the presence of the 5 monophyletic lineages with high support values what correlates with morphological, ecological (host preferences) and geographic patterns.
