Aim: The aim of our study is to compare the proteinuria levels measured by dipstick in complete urine analysis at admission with the proteinuria levels measured in 24-hour collected urine for patients hospitalized with a presumptive diagnosis of preeclampsia. By doing so, we intend to review the reliability of the widely used dipstick proteinuria in patients with preeclampsia. Material and Methods: Urine specimens were obtained from 70 pregnant women visiting high-risk maternity centers at a third-level healthcare institution. Patients were divided into four groups based on their urine dipstick screening test results: negative, +1, +2, +3, and higher. Proteinuria was considered to be present if the urinary dipstick test showed +1 or higher, while protein levels measured in the 24-hour urine collection were considered to indicate proteinuria if they exceeded 300 mg. The degree of correlation between the urine dipstick test and both 24-hour urine samples and spot urine protein-to-creatinine ratio (Pr/Cr) was compared. Results: The mean age of the 70 preeclampsia patients in the study group was 31.7±6.2, and the mean gestational age was 32.5±4.6. The dipstick test had a sensitivity of 81.4% and a specificity of 85.2%. The dipstick test results were grouped as 0, +1, +2, +3, and higher. Statistically significant differences were detected between the groups in terms of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, the amount of protein in the 24-hour urine, and spot urine Pr/Cr (p=0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001, respectively). When examining the correlation between the urine dipstick test and both 24-hour urine samples and spot urine Pr/Cr, a moderate correlation was found (r=0.65, p<0.001, r=0.55, p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion: In hypertensive pregnant individuals, urine dipstick tests demonstrated inadequate performance in ruling out preeclampsia. Consequently, according to our investigation, we posit that the dipstick urine test can be employed as a routine and reliable diagnostic tool for preeclampsia due to its rapid results and cost-effectiveness. Purpose: To compare cardiac functions evaluated with echocardiography and tissue Doppler (TD) imaging between fetuses of pregnant women who were infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms and fetuses of pregnant women who were not infected. Material and Methods: Early diastolic myocardial velocities (Em) and late myocardial velocities (Am) and Em/Am ratios were measured in the lateral annuli of tricuspid and mitral valves of fetuses of pregnant women with COVID-19 at more than 20 weeks of gestational age who had COVID-19 (n=45) and gestational age-matched healthy pregnant women's fetuses (n=43). The TDderived myocardial performance index (MPI) was also measured. Results: The gestational ages of the fetuses were found as 26.1 ± 3.3 and 26.6 ± 3.5 weeks, respectively. The mitral valve Em/Am ratio was 0.56±0.08 and 0.61±0.06 in the study group and the control group, respectively. The tricuspid valve Em/Am ratio was 0.58±0.11 and 0.63±0.10 in the study group and the control group, respectively. The TD-derived mitral valve MPI was 0.48±0.07 and 0.40±0.07 in the study group and the control group, respectively. Conclusion: Maternal COVID-19 affects fetal MPI and diastolic function. Fetal cardiac echocardiography should be performed during antenatal follow-up of low-risk, mildly symptomatic pregnant women infected with SARSCoV-2 without concomitant maternal comorbidity. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the effect of cervical length measured before induction of labor on the duration of labor and oxytocin dose administered for induction during labor in post-term pregnant women. Materials and Methods: Eighty-seven post-term pregnant women were included in this prospective study. Cervical length was measured before the induction of labor with oxytocin. The relationship between cervical length and the time until delivery and total oxytocin dose parameters were examined. The effect of confounder factors was determined by logistic regression analysis. Results: Sixty-five (74.71%) of the patients gave birth by normal vaginal delivery and 22 (25.29%) by cesarean section. It was found that parity, bishop score, cervical length and fetal weight variables predicted oxytocin dose by 67% (R-square = 0.675). Patients with a cervical length of >32mm measured before induction were more likely to have a cesarean section than those with a cervix shorter than 32 mm (OR:3.7). Parity had the greatest effect among these variables (ß = -.40, p <.001). Conclusion: Cervical length is a useful marker in predicting the success of labor induction with oxytocin in post-term pregnant women. Aim: It was aimed to evaluate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on conception rates and mode of delivery according to education level. Material and Methods: This study was created by retrospectively examining the data of patients who applied to Kütahya Health Sciences University, Obstetrics and Gynecology outpatient clinic with the diagnosis of pregnancy. The 6-month period before the pandemic and the 6-month period during the pandemic; were compared in terms of education levels, pregnancy rates and mode of delivery. Results: Although there were 960 new pregnancy applications in the 6-month period before the pandemic, there were 541 new pregnancy applications in the 6-month period during the pandemic period. In all education levels, there was a change in the pandemic period compared to the pre-pandemic period (p<0.001). In the pre-pan-demic period, primary school graduate new pregnancy applications increased from 26.1% to 40.1% during the pandemic period. The rate of new pregnancy at university and higher education level decreased from 16% to 5.9%. Cesarean section rates increased significantly compared to the pre-pandemic period (p=0.002). Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic has negative effects on women and couples. As in previous pandemics, pregnancy rates are adversely affected in the COVID-19 pandemic. As the education level of women increased, pregnancy rates decreased compared to the pre-pandemic period. In terms of the mode of delivery was 54.1% by cesarean section before the pandemic, it is clearly increased as 62.3% during the pandemic period.of delivery, cesarean section has increased significantly compared to the pre-pandemic period. Objective: This study investigated the relationship between umbilical vein diameter and cord length and fetal outcome in low-risk pregnancies (fetuses appropriate for gestational age [AGA]). Methods: A prospective cohort study of 39 singleton pregnant women aged 19-44 years at between 38+0 and 41+6 weeks of gestation was conducted. Case demographics, umbilical vein diameter measured by prenatal ultrasound, postnatal birth weight, gender, 1-and 5-minute Apgar scores, blood gas analysis, and umbilical cord length were recorded. Fetuses with a fetal weight in the 10-90th percentile according to week of gestation were accepted as AGA. Results: The mean age of the pregnant women was 27.5±5.3 years. 33% (13/39) of the pregnant women were nulliparous. There was no statistically significant correlation between umbilical vein diameter and other variables in correlation analysis (p>0.050). Umbilical cord length and umbilical vein lactate level were found to have a statistically negative and significant correlation (r=-0.418; p=0.015); however, no other pregnancy outcomes were found to have a significant correlation. There was no statistically significant difference between the median values of umbilical vein diameter and cord length by gender (p=0.076 and 0.181, respectively). Conclusion: In conclusion, this study found no relationship between umbilical vein diameter and cord length and fetal weight and pregnancy outcome in low-risk 38.0-41.6-week pregnancies (AGA fetuses). The aim of this study was to investigate the value of measuring cervical length (CL) between 24 and 28 weeks of gestation for predicting the risk of late and post-term pregnancy. In this prospective longitudinal study, pregnant women whose CL was measured between 24 and 28 weeks were followed until delivery. The CL was adjusted for confounders and the results are presented using odds ratio and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). A total of 874 women met the inclusion criteria. The median value of CL measured between 24 and 28 weeks was 34.0 mm (30.0–38.0 25%, 75% interquartile range). The risk of late and post-term pregnancy was 5.8 times higher in pregnant women with a CL above 35 mm between the 24 and 28 weeks of gestation (95% CI: 2.65-12.94 adjusted OR = 5.8, p <.001). For pregnancies exceeding the 38th week, it was observed that the duration of the gestation increases as CL values increase. In this study, it has been demonstrated that measuring the CL between 24 and 28 weeks of gestation can predict late and post-term pregnancy. Prolonged pregnancy may cause neonatal and fetal complications and anxiety. CL measurement performed in these weeks can help prepare pregnant women for a possible prolonged pregnancy and cope with prolonged pregnancy anxiety. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the level of fear of childbirth in pregnant women in terms of factors such as age, number of births, education level, and immigration status. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out by including 444 pregnant women who have 32-36 weeks of pregnancy and voluntarily agree to participate in the research, all of them are literate and applied to Kütahya Health Sciences University Evliya Çelebi Training and Research Hospital between 25.07.2019 - 01.11.2019. The data were collected using the Wijma Birth Expectation / Experience Scale (W-DEQ), and the questionnaire was administered to the immigrant patients by an outpatient doctor via an interpreter. Results: The average age of the pregnant women was 31.65 ±6.83 years. 24.8% (n = 110) of all the participants had low levels of fear of childbirth, 21.8% (n = 9 7) had moderate fear, 27.9% (n = 124) had severe fear, and 25% (n = 1 13) were identified as having very severe fear of childbirth. The W-DEQ score increased as the education level increased, but there was no difference between university graduates and postgraduate pregnant women. Fear of childbirth in migrant women was found to be significantly lower compared to Turkish women. Conclusion: Fear of childbirth is affected by age, education, immigration, and these conditions vary among societies. Pre-determining conditions that can increase fear of childbirth and implementing social support programs in selected patient groups may decrease the fear of childbirth and lower the number of cesarean sections in Turkey. Objective: The objective of our study is to evaluate the long-term results of laparoscopic bean vaginoplasty (LBV), which we previously described.Materials and Methods: From April 2002 to September 2013, 62 patients, who were diagnosed with Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser Syndrome and underwent LBV in Cukurova University School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology were included in the study. Operative data, complication rates, vaginal length, and sexuality of patients during the follow-up period were evaluated. Sexuality of the patients were evaluated using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaire. The FSFI scores were compared with age-matched 65 healthy control subjects.Results: Mean age of patients in case and control groups were 23.9 ± 5.1 (18-32) and 25.1 ± 4.2 (18-31), respectively (P = .69). Median length of follow-up after surgery was 48 months (24-144 months). No complications occurred during the operations. No vaginal adhesions occurred during the follow-up periods. Median vaginal length during the last follow-up was 7 cm (6-9 cm). FSFI scores were similar with the control group.Conclusion: LBV is a successful modification of Vecchietti procedure, without any reported complication. Objective: To compare the safety and efficacy of two misoprostol regimens for mid-trimester pregnancy terminations.Methods: Retrospective analysis of 263 cases of pregnancy terminations with misoprostol between 12 and 24 weeks was performed. Group 1 (total 129 patients) consisted of patients who were given 200 mcg vaginal misoprostol every 4 h until the abortion, whereas Group 2 patients (total 134 patients) were given misoprostol as in International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics's (FIGO) 2012 recommendation. In case of a previous cesarean section doses were halved in both groups. Primary outcomes of the study were the time to abortion and the total drug dose used. Secondary outcome was the rate of complications.Results: Total dose and time to abortion did not differ between the groups. As for complications, one patient (%0.8) in group 1 developed HELLP syndrome and had hysterotomy. One patient (%0.8) in group 2 had uterine rupture and had total hysterectomy. Two patients in both groups considered failure of induction and terminated with surgery (hysterotomy). Groups did not show difference in induction failure rates.Conclusions: We respect the presence of dose recommendation stated by the FIGO and found similar results with our recent protocol.
