ABSTRACTAlong strike variations of frontal structures at fold and thrust belts allow us deciphering the evolution of contractional structures at early stages of deformation but also, how processes such as salt mobilisation, thrust emplacement, and folding develop. The external parts of the Pyrenees are suitable to investigate how these processes interacted during the Pyrenean Orogeny. The integration of fieldwork and subsurface data allowed us to obtain on the one hand the geological map of the eastern tip of the El Tordell Fault and the Súria Anticline and on the other hand, the 3D structural model of the study area. These two results allowed us to decipher the evolution of the area, which is characterised by the development, under compression, of a salt accumulation at early stages of deformation which was afterwards the locus of the El Tordell Thrust and finally, as deformation progressed, the development of the Súria Anticline.

Allodaposuchids were among the most common crocodyliforms in the Upper Cretaceous of Europe. The clade, recently erected to include a large number of species described in the last decade, seems to hold a remarkable diversity that has generated systematic controversies. Here we describe an interorbital fragment of an eusuchian crocodyliform, collected in the late 1950s in the locality of Suterranya-Mina de lignit (Lleida, Spain), from the lower Maastrichtian deposits of the Tremp Group, in the southern Pyrenees. The specimen is here identified as an allodaposuchid; some already described teeth, probably found together with the cranial remains and therefore here assigned to the same individual, reinforce this interpretation. The interorbital region of the specimen shows some important similarities with Allodaposuchus subjuniperus, reported only from the upper Maastrichtian levels of the Tremp Group, while it clearly differs from Allodaposuchus palustris, which is already reported in the lower Maastrichtian transitional deposits close to Suterranya-Mina de lignit locality. The resilience of a river corridor represents its ability to withstand and recover from disturbances. Quantifying fluvial resilience in the face of various stressors is essential for integrating ecology and geomorphology in a context of river management. Geomorphic unit diversity analysis emerges as a valuable tool for characterizing and quantifying fluvial resilience to disturbances due to its inherent connection with fluvial dynamics. This paper aims to analyse and quantify the fluvial resilience of a wandering gravel-bed river affected by natural (e.g., floods) and human-induced (e.g., instream gravel mining) stressors. To achieve this goal, we use multi-temporal high-resolution topographic surveys of the Upper River Cinca (South-Central Pyrenees) spanning from 2014 to 2020. By employing the Geomorphic Unit Tool (GUT) on these surveys, we can map geomorphic units over time, quantify their diversity, and study geomorphic adjustments through morphodynamic signatures, altogether allowing inferring fluvial resilience. Our findings reveal that topographic changes (i.e., erosion and sedimentation) correlate with the type of stressor: maintenance works and gravel mining lead to degradation, while floods induce aggradation. Geomorphic Unit Diversity decreases following channel disturbances caused by gravel mining but rebounds after periods primarily stressed by floods, returning to pre-impact levels within six years. Geomorphic adjustments, such as channel incision and mid bar development, reflect erosion and sedimentation processes respectively, with channel maintenance works and floods being the main drivers. Despite the recovery of the geomorphic unit diversity within the reach, the deficit resulting from gravel extraction remains unresolved, perpetuating a degrading trend that poses risks in reducing lateral connectivity and could potentially catalyse future vegetation encroachment in bars and floodplains, causing changes on flood conveyance and hydraulics. Monitoring the river's geomorphic diversity provides crucial insights for effective conservation and management decisions regarding land use, development, and conservation along riverbanks, thereby sustaining or enhancing fluvial system resilience. • Geomorphic diversity inferred from HRT can be used to quantify fluvial resilience. • Gravel mining reduces geomorphic diversity; floods drive to recovery. • Monitoring geomorphic diversity is key for river conservation and management. A systematic description of the Eocene larger foraminifera recorded in the South Pyrenean Basin (Sierras Exteriores) is presented herein. The large dataset provided in this work includes Nummulites and Alveolina species, along with a variety of other porcellaneous and hyaline taxa with lesser biostratigraphic relevance. Most of the larger foraminifera described in this work correspond to the Lutetian (SBZ13 to SBZ16 biozones) interval, but late Ypresian (SBZ11, Cuisian) and early Bartonian (SBZ17) shallow benthic zones have also been identified. A new species, Idalinaosquetaensis, is described. The systematic revision of middle to late Lutetian alveolines led to a reassessment of Alveolinafusiformis and the finding of two new precursor forms, described as Alveolina aff. fragilis and Alveolina aff. elongata. The new taxa fill in the gap existing so far in the middle to late Lutetian alveolinid biostratigraphy. Despite not being exclusive to SBZ16, these forms provide realiable biostratigraphic information in facies where Nummulites are not present. This realibility lies on the correlation of Nummulitesand Alveolina biostratigraphic markers in the same sections and their calibration to the global time scale through magnetostratigraphy. Magnetostratigraphic calibration of described taxa is provided, along with an update of the SBZ calibration to the Geological Time Scale (Gradstein et al., 2012).

In this study, we used the Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) to investigate the matrix strain record of two calcareous shale formations, the Eocene Larrès and Pamplona Marls, along the eastern Jaca foreland fold-and-thrust belt (Southern Pyrenees). More than 1000 unoriented fragments, collected from 62 sites along 4 sub-parallel sections in the footwall of the regional Oturia thrust and through local Yebra anticline, were measured. The analysis of the degree of anisotropy (P') and shape parameter (T) allowed to identify four types of magnetic fabrics. Type II fabrics associated with poorly deformed rocks are characterized by a relatively high anisotropy and an oblate shape. In contrast, type III fabrics, associated with strongly fractured rocks are characterized by the lowest anisotropy and a triaxial shape. Type IV and type V fabrics are characterized by increasing anisotropy and shape parameters, and are associated with the development of a weak to a slaty cleavage in rocks. The distribution of the magnetic fabric is roughly similar along the four studied sections. In the footwall of the Oturia thrust, magnetic fabrics evolve from the type V to type II over a 1000 m-long interval. By contrast, the distribution of magnetic fabric is roughly symmetric across the Yebra anticline, evolving from a dominating type II fabric in both limbs to mixed type III-type V fabrics within the 1 km-large hinge zone. The succession of the magnetic fabrics is interpreted as recording various degrees of matrix strain in response to thrusting and folding. The correlation of magnetic fabrics between the four sections highlights some along-strike variations in the extension of fabric domains that are interpreted as reflecting the local influence of 2nd-order factors, such as the syn-tectonic sedimentation. Results are integrated within the tectono-sedimentary framework of the studied area to propose a model of matrix strain related to the tectonic and sedimentary evolution of a foreland fold and thrust belt. • Four types of magnetic fabrics are defined within the Eocene marls in the eastern Jaca basin. • Magnetic fabrics record an increasing strain gradient related to thrusting and folding. • The syntectonic conglomerates sedimentation locally influenced the matrix strain record of marls. The South Pyrenean triangle zone represents the southernmost front of the Pyrenees at its central portion deforming the Upper Eocene‐Miocene Ebro Basin deposits. Two main structures characterize its western termination, the Barbastro anticline and the San Román backthrust, which detached on the Barbastro Formation (and lateral equivalents), an Upper Eocene‐Lower Oligocene syntectonic evaporite‐rich formation that acted as a multidetachment unit. Northward, the south directed Pyrenean thrust unit (i.e., Gavarnie‐Sierras thrust sheet) detached along the Middle‐Upper Triassic evaporitic rocks to finally ramp up and glide along the same Upper Eocene‐Lower Oligocene multidetachment unit. A multidisciplinary approach allowed constructing a detailed structural and stratigraphic model of the study area. The workflow consisted of (1) constraining the geometry and structural architecture based on surface geology, interpretation of seismic lines (>900 km), and wells and (2) obtaining the 3‐D density distribution of the multidetachment unit using gravity stochastic inversion (more than 7,000 gravity stations and 1,500 density data). The geometry of the sole thrust of the Gavarnie‐Sierras thrust sheet was controlled by the distribution of the evaporite‐rich units of the Barbastro Fm. Weak detachments promoted thrust salient formation and thrust flat geometries. The western termination of the South Pyrenean triangle zone is defined as a westward transition from a ramp‐dominated and multiple triangle zone to a detachment‐dominated one. Its geometry, kinematics, and location were controlled by the heterogeneous lithology of the Barbastro Fm. and its basal, halite‐based detachment southern pinch‐out. The South-Pyrenean Basin (northeastern Spain) has yielded a rich and diverse record of Upper Cretaceous (uppermost Campanian−uppermost Maastrichtian) vertebrate fossils, including the remains of some of the last European dinosaurs prior to the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K-Pg) extinction event. In this work, we update and characterize the vertebrate fossil record of the Arén Sandstone and Tremp formations in the Western Tremp Syncline, which is located in the Aragonese area of the Southern Pyrenees. The transitional and continental successions of these sedimentary units are dated to the late Maastrichtian, and exploration of their outcrops has led to the discovery of numerous fossil remains (bones, eggshells, and tracks) of dinosaurs, including hadrosauroids, sauropods, and theropods, along with other tetrapods such as crocodylomorphs, testudines, pterosaurs, squamates, and amphibians. In particular, this fossil record contains some of the youngest lambeosaurine hadrosaurids (Arenysaurus and Blasisaurus) and Mesozoic crocodylomorphs (Arenysuchus and Agaresuchus subjuniperus) in Europe, complementing the lower Maastrichtian fossil sites of the Eastern Tremp Syncline. In addition, faunal comparison with the fossil record of Hațeg island reveals the great change in the dinosaur assemblages resulting from the arrival of lambeosaurine hadrosaurids on the Ibero-Armorican island, whereas those on Haţeg remained stable. In the light of its paleontological richness, its stratigraphic continuity, and its calibration within the last few hundred thousand years of the Cretaceous, the Western Tremp Syncline is one of the best places in Europe to study the latest vertebrate assemblages of the European Archipelago before the end-Cretaceous mass extinction.

This paper presents a new model of the subsurface structure of the eastern Jaca flexural basin of the west-central southern Pyrenees, by means of subsurface structural maps and four new balanced cross-sections. The study is based on the interpretation of a set of publicly available seismic reflection profiles tied to deep exploration well logs, which constitute a unique database in the southern Pyrenees associated to the gas discovery of the Serrablo field. Investigation of the deep basin structure highlights strong mechanical-stratigraphic contrasts between basement, a competent Upper Cretaceous-Eocene carbonate sequence in the deep basin and a weak infill of Eocene to lower Miocene synorogenic clastic deposits. These contrasts promote the occurrence of various décollement levels and a decoupled style of deformation between intervals of different competence. A contour map for the top of basement reveals a complex structure with lateral variations of the number of thrusts and the displacement on these and local transverse elements. Between the Gavarnie thrust at the southern edge of the Axial Zone and the Guarga thrust at the leading edge of the basement thrust system, three main other basement thrusts are defined below the north-eastern Jaca Basin, from South to North the Fiscal, Yésero and Broto thrusts. In the Meso-Cenozoic sedimentary cover, two low-angle thrusts are mapped in the subsurface across the Upper Cretaceous-Eocene carbonates: i) the deep Oturia thrust, connected upsection to the emerging Oturia thrust known at the surface, and ii) the deep Jaca thrust, drilled by the Serrablo wells, and connected to the emerging Jaca thrust and Yebra de Basa anticline through a zone of disharmonic deformation. The deduced subsurface geometrical relationships are consistent with the connection of the Gavarnie and Broto basement thrusts to the Priabonian-Rupelian Oturia and Jaca thrusts while the younger Yésero, Fiscal and Guarga basement thrusts emerge at the South Pyrenean thrust front of the Sierras Exteriores, active until the early Miocene. This study highlights the complex structural pattern that characterizes the deep structure of the South Pyrenean basin and the role of disharmonic deformation that challenges the resolution of the deeper thrust system without the help of seismic profiles.

The Santo Domingo Anticline (External Sierras, Southern Pyrenees), which separates the Jaca piggyback basin from the Ebro foreland basin, is a key structure of the Pyrenees. Its geometry has been interpreted both as a detachment fold and as a hangingwall anticline associated with an underlying thrust. In this paper, we present the results from a gravity survey and 2.5D gravity modelling carried out around the Santo Domingo Anticline. Density measurements indicate a sharp density contrast between the Triassic evaporites‐mudstones in the core of the anticline and the sedimentary sequence (limestones and sandstones) at its limbs. Gravity anomalies together with 2.5D gravity models allow to discern the along‐strike structural changes. From east to west, we document a change from the ramp‐associated fold to the detachment anticline. The Oliana anticline (Southern Pyrenees) has been characterized as an outcrop analogue of a geothermal reservoir using field data (stratigraphy and fracturing) and petrological, petrophysical and petrothermal analyses. Five lithofacies were established including conglomerates, hybrid arenites, lithic arenites, carbonates and evaporites. Petrophysical measurements indicate widely dispersed values of bulk density, connected porosity, permeability and velocity of compressional acoustic waves. Connected porosity is the factor that mostly influences bulk density, compressional wave velocity and permeability. In turn, diagenetic processes (such as dissolution and cementation) and fracturing, coupled with petrological features such as mineral composition, matrix content and grain size, are the most critical factors controlling rock porosity along the Oliana anticline. Thermal conductivity measures reveal a compositional control on the thermal properties of rocks. Thermal characterization of the structure reveals a low conductive area that matches the carbonate and evaporite succession of the anticline core and a highly conductive zone associated with the detrital succession of the fold limbs. The Oliana anticline has been classified as a petrothermal system due to the low permeability values of the studied sedimentary succession. This work aims to present the Les Avellanes diapir as a field analog to inquire how the origin, advance, and emplacement of an allochthonous salt body in continental settings influence the local sedimentation in terms of facies distribution, sediment provenance, and stratigraphic relationships. At the frontal part of the South-Central Pyrenean fold-and-thrust belt (Spain), the Les Avellanes diapir is an outcropping salt structure made of Triassic evaporites, lutites and carbonates. At the diapir's western boundary, a structurally controlled sub-basin presents a well-preserved, early Oligocene in age, mixed clastic-evaporitic sedimentary sequence which recorded the lateral extrusion of the diapir and its emplacement as an allochthonous salt sheet. To define the events and processes recorded by the adjacent sedimentary sequences, and to unravel the diapir evolution and the nature of the diapir contact at the study area, we have combined sedimentary, petrologic, and stratigraphic data. Three stratigraphic sections have been built, from which 8 lithostratigraphic facies associations have been described, interpreted, and correlated across the sub-basin. The deformation within the diapir deposit is also described and interpreted together with the sedimentary rocks. A prograding alluvial to colluvial system is associated with the piercing of the salt, which was exposed at the surface towards the NE area of the sub-basin. The dissolution of the salt resulting in the formation of a caprock with stacks of stringers of intrasalt carbonates and dolerites layers. The ongoing uplifting at the NE caused the incision of the local drainage network, marked as a paleo-relief in the stratigraphic sequence, filled by syn -kinematic breccias derived by the erosion, transport, and sedimentation of the caprock. The headward erosion reached the salt underneath the caprock, triggering the lateral extrusion. Thus, salt flowed southwards, favored by the local topography, overriding the syn -kinematic breccia deposit. Foliation and other shear-related deformation structures are observed in a megabreccia made of caprock remnants which overlap the sedimentary, syn -kinematic breccias along the base of the salt sheet deposit. These structures were probably formed during the advance of the salt sheet. The data acquired and interpreted in this work allows for the conceptualization of the relative lateral movement of a salt sheet front as recorded by adjacent syn -kinematic sedimentation in continental settings. Salt supply and erosion rates are compared with topographic slope, sedimentation, and salt dissolution as major controlling parameters of the salt sheet advance. The resulting combinations are expressed by the progradation, aggradation, and retrogradation in terms of proximal over distal facies. • A sedimentary sequence adjacent to the Les Avellanes diapir in Spain recorded the diapir lateral extrusion as a salt sheet. • Sedimentary, stratigraphic, and petrologic data are combined to trace the diapir evolution through time. • Pyrenean compression combined with headward erosion triggered and controlled salt sheet advance. • The salt sheet advanced southwards covering the breccias derived from its erosion. • Syn-kinematic architectures are related to the controlling parameters for salt advance in a conceptual model. The Olvena area (Sierras Marginales, southern Pyrenees) provides an outstanding example for studying the relationships between tectonics and sedimentation related to fold-and-thrust systems having shallow décollements. Stratigraphic and sedimentological features allow infer i) the relationship between Oligocene-Miocene locallysourced alluvial fans and a far-sourced wider fluvial system, and ii) the control exerted by tectonics on the stratigraphic architecture. Initially, uplift resulting from folding and thrusting in the Sierras Marginales precluded the entrance through this area into the Ebro basin of a wide fluvial system sourced in internal zones of the Pyrenean chain (including the Axial Zone). A subsiding area was created in the southern front of the Sierras where west-flowing alluvial fans generated, having their source areas in the rejuvenated reliefs. The subsequent cessation of movement of the tectonic structures permitted these reliefs to be subdued and the overpassing of the north-coming fluvial system that progressively covered a wider area. Sequential evolution and stratigraphic architecture evidence thrust emplacement geometry and chronology, including out-of-sequence reactivation of structures and the influence of evaporite flow along the décollement. Although these syn-tectonic deposits belong to the Ebro basin succession, its megasequential evolution differs from the general sequence established for the basin fill, highlighting the importance of differentiating the influence of near-coming sedimentary systems when interpreting basin-scale sequence stratigraphy.

ABSTRACT Elucidating the links between catchment and channel geomorphic processes helps the understanding of landscape evolution and the geomorphic development of river basins, and then the land degradation processes. In this study, we analyse suspended sediment dynamics and its relationship with rainfall, discharge and in-channel sediment storage in a highly dynamic Mediterranean montane catchment (the River Isáben, Southern Pyrenees, NE Iberian Peninsula). The aim is to assess hydrological controls on and temporal patterns of the suspended sediment load. High loads in this basin occur as a consequence of intense erosion in badlands located in the middle of the catchment. This study focuses on a reach located downstream from the main badland areas, where rainfall, discharge ( Q), sediment transport ( SSC) and in-channel sediment storage were monitored for a 1-year period. Marked seasonality in water and sediment load was observed; whereas most of the discharge occurred in winter and spring, most of the sediment was transported during summer and autumn. Q-SSC hysteretic loops revealed the importance of sediment availability (whether stored in the channel or originating from wider catchment source areas) in the river's sedimentary response. Clockwise loops dominated during winter and spring, whereas counter-clockwise loops occurred mostly in summer and autumn, when in-channel storage reached its maximum. There were significant correlations between rainfall intensity in the sediment source areas, in-channel sediment storage and sediment yield. These correlations emphasize the importance of understanding sediment availability when analysing the temporal dynamics of sediment transport, especially in catchments where different source areas (slopes and riverbed) may contribute to the load to differing degrees and at different times of the year. The halokinetic structure of inverted salt-related continental margins is frequently obliterated by compressional overprinting. The Cretaceous Sopeira and Sant Gervàs subbasins of the Ribagorça Basin (south central Pyrenees) show evidence of salt-related extensional tectonics and diapiric growth along the Iberian Margin of the Mesozoic Pyrenean rift. We present an integrated field-based tectonic-sedimentary study to reconstruct the evolution of the Ribagorça Basin system previous to, and in the early stages of, the Pyrenean orogeny. The ~4 km thick Albian-Cenomanian Sopeira minibasin infill thins toward the basin borders, especially toward the eastern, N-S trending, Llastarri salt weld. The 90° tilt to the south of the Sopeira basin bottom records the growth of the buried north dipping Sopeira listric fault from Albian to Santonian times, when it evolved as an extensional rollover associated with the Aulet salt roller. The ~3 km thick Cenomanian-Campanian succession filling the Sant Gervàs flap displays 130° bed fanning attitude from overturned Cenomanian carbonate platform strata to upright Campanian turbidite beds. The Sant Gervàs flap development since Cenomanian times was related to the fall of a large salt pillow after the main Soperia minibasin stage. Jurassic-Campanian diachronous subsidence is also observed in the adjacent Montiberri, Faiada, and Tamurcia depocenters. Correlation with the Pedraforca, Cotiella, and Basque-Cantabrian Basins along the southern Pyrenees suggests that a significant segment of the Iberian side of the Pyrenean rift experienced a gravity-driven extension from Albian to late Santonian. A detailed petrological study has been performed for the end-Cretaceous clastic deposits of the southern Pyrenees. Provenance results indicate that the Maastrichtian systems from both the Àger and the Vallcebre synclines show compositional features that mainly consist of a high proportion of single and polycrystalline quartz grains, feldspar and plutonic fragments. By contrast, the sandstone systems of the Tremp syncline exhibit minor contributions from igneous source areas and higher amounts of carbonatic components. These results reveal that the Tremp basin had a source area interpreted as situated to the North in the uplifting Pyrenees. The fact that this basin does not show a high plutonic source signal indicates that the Àger and the Vallcebre basins had been fed from a distinct source area located to the South, here interpreted as the Ebro Massif. relationships between tectonics and sedimentation related to fold-and-thrust systems having shallow décollements. Stratigraphic and sedimentological features allow infer i) the relationship between Oligocene-Miocene locallysourced alluvial fans and a far-sourced wider fluvial system, and ii) the control exerted by tectonics on the stratigraphic architecture. Initially, uplift resulting from folding and thrusting in the Sierras Marginales precluded the entrance through this area into the Ebro basin of a wide fluvial system sourced in internal zones of the Pyrenean chain (including the Axial Zone). A subsiding area was created in the southern front of the Sierras where west-flowing alluvial fans generated, having their source areas in the rejuvenated reliefs. The subsequent cessation of movement of the tectonic structures permitted these reliefs to be subdued and the overpassing of the north-coming fluvial system that progressively covered a wider area. Sequential evolution and stratigraphic architecture evidence thrust emplacement geometry and chronology, including out-of-sequence reactivation of structures and the influence of evaporite flow along the décollement. This article focuses on how deformation and displacements are transferred between two décollements located at different stratigraphic levels by means of analogue modeling using brittle/viscous, sand/silicone systems. We present results from ten analogue models, in which we varied key parameters, such as the amount of horizontal offset or overlap between the pinch-outs of the upper and lower décollements , the total amount of shortening, and the planform geometry of the upper décollement . Results indicate that (i) structures root onto the basal and upper décollement , defining an inner and an outer domain and (ii) the offset/overlap of the décollements controls the geometry of the transition zone located between the two décollements , the propagation of deformation into the foreland both in space and time, and the deformation style and kinematics in the different domains of the model. When the pinch-out of the upper décollement is at an angle with the backstop, oblique structures form, and the geometry and propagation-mode of the structures change progressively along-strike. We compare our experimental results with other silicone/sand analogue models and with the natural examples of the Southern Pyrenees, where Upper Triassic and Eocene–Oligocene syn-tectonic evaporites acted as basal and upper décollements , respectively. This study integrates field structural data, petrographic and geochemical (δ18O, δ13C, Δ 47 , 87Sr/86Sr, and elemental composition) analyses and U–Pb dating of calcite veins cutting the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline (Southern Pyrenees) in order to date and to investigate the spatio-temporal relationships between fluid flow and fold evolution. This E-W trending anticline grew from Late Cretaceous to Paleocene at the front of the Bóixols thrust sheet deforming pre-growth and growth sedimentary sequences. U–Pb dating reveals Late Cretaceous to late Miocene deformation ages, which agree with the age of growth strata deposition and the sequence of deformation interpreted from field and microstructural data. Dates coeval (71.2 ± 6.4 to 56.9 ± 1.4 Ma) and postdating (55.5 ± 1.2 to 27.4 ± 0.9 Ma) Upper Cretaceous to Paleocene growth strata are interpreted to record: (i) the growth of the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline during the Bóixols thrust emplacement, and (ii) the tightening of the anticline during the southern tectonic transport of the South-Central Pyrenean Unit. Other ages (20.8 ± 1.2 to 9.0 ± 4.6 Ma) postdate the folding event and have been associated with the collapse of the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline. The geochemistry of calcite veins indicates that the fluid flow behavior varied across the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline through its growth, showing a compartmentalized fluid system. In the hinge of the anticline and in the upper Santonian to middle Campanian syn-orogenic sequence along the footwall of the Bóixols thrust, the similar petrographic and geochemical features between all calcite cements and host rocks point towards a locally-derived or well-equilibrated fluid system. Contrarily, along large faults such as the Bóixols thrust, and in the anticline limbs, the geochemistry of vein cements indicates a different scenario. Cements in large faults yielded the lightest δ18O values, from −8 to −14 ‰VPDB, and variable enrichment in δ13C, 87Sr/86Sr, elemental composition and δ18O fluid. This is interpreted as the migration of fluids, through fault zones, that evolved from distinct fluid origins. Cements in the fold limbs exhibit δ18O and δ13C between −8 and −6 ‰VPDB and between −10 and + 2 ‰VPDB, respectively, the lowest Sr contents and the lowest precipitation temperatures, suggesting that the anticline limbs recorded the infiltration and evolution of meteoric waters. The paleohydrological system in the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline was restricted to the Bóixols thrust sheet. The Upper Triassic evaporitic basal detachment likely acted as a lower fluid barrier, preventing the input of fluids from deeper parts of the Pyrenean crustal thrust system. This study provides a well-constrained absolute timing of fracturing and fluid flow during basin inversion and folding evolution and highlights the suitability of U–Pb geochronology to refine the age of fractures and veins and their sequential evolution in orogenic belts. • Twenty-three new U-Pb dates provide a well-constrained timing of deformation in an anticline that preserves pre-, syn- and post-folding fractures that do not exhibit a symmetrical orientation with respect to the fold axis, which have important implications for the interpretation of fold-fracture systems. • We further constrain the age and duration of fold evolution in the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline. • The geochemistry of calcite veins reveals that the fluid flow behavior varied across the different structural positions of the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline, evidencing a compartmentalized fluid system. • The paleohydrological system in the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline only involves fluids sourced above the detachment levels, which may act as a lower boundary for the fluid system, preventing the input of fluids from deeper parts of the belt. Fossil remains of reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) occurring outside their present range are an important indicator of formerly cold climatic conditions, but are easily confused with those of the red deer (Cervus elaphus). The locality of Kiputz IX has yielded one of the best-preserved Late Pleistocene reindeer populations of the southern Pyrenees, occurring in association with Bison priscus and the much more abundant Cervus elaphus. Fossil remains from this site are mostly complete and not affected by human intervention, thus creating the perfect conditions for reliable osteometric analyses. Here, we quantify diagnostic morphological features of the scapula and the humerus of Cervus elaphus and Rangifer tarandus to establish the potential of these bones to aid in interspecific discrimination. In the case of the scapula, the best species discriminator is the ratio of the minimum anteroposterior diameter of the scapular neck and the development of the articular process, while the breadth of the trochlea is the best discriminator in the case of the humerus. U-Pb dating and geochemical analyzes (δ 18 O, δ 13 C, Δ 47 , 87 Sr/ 86 Sr and elemental composition) have been applied to fracture-filling calcite veins and host carbonates from the Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline, which developed along the front of the Bóixols thrust sheet in the Southern Pyrenees. This robust dataset is used to determine: (i) the absolute timing of fracturing and mineralization from fluid flow; (ii) the age and duration of fold evolution; and (iii) the variations and implications of fluid behavior across the anticline, as has been described in the article "Spatio-temporal variation of fluid flow behavior along a fold: The Bóixols-Sant Corneli anticline (Southern Pyrenees) from U-Pb dating and structural, petrographic, and geochemical constraints - Marine and Petroleum Geology (2022) (Muñoz-López et al., 2022). In this new contribution, we present the raw data that have been analyzed and discussed in the related research article and, also, the whole elemental and REE composition of calcite veins and host carbonates that has not been published yet. A kinematic model for fault-related folds is proposed based on a field example from the Pyrenees. A brief explanation of the model with remarks on its properties and why it was chosen to simulate the natural structure is given together with a detailed structural analysis. The structure consists of a meter-scale fold developed at the tip of a thrust fault with its backlimb dipping less than the fault surface and including a footwall fold. The suggested model presents an acceptable geometrical fitting to the studied structure and provides a reasonable evolutionary history for the fold. Graphs of shortening vs. slip along the fault can be obtained using the model's equations in which a possible structural path followed by the structure can be depicted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work we present AMS results obtained from several profiles in the Lutetian, carbonate- slope sequence located in the eastern limb of the Boltaña anticline. The AMS analyses allow us to define the deformational events related to the formation of the Boltaña anticline and its progressive rotation during Eocene (Late Lutetian) times, acting as a passive marker of the deformation, after a very early record of LPS during diagenesis. RT-AMS ellipsoids from Upper Cretaceous carbonate rocks in the Southwestern Pyrenees exhibit an unusual orientation for rocks within a well-cleavage domain: neither do all sites show the maximum axes in the intersection lineation nor are the minimum axes at the pole of the cleavage plane. The study of the subfabrics (LT-AMS and AARM) indicates that the paramagnetic grains (phyllosilicates) respond to a layer parallel shortening, with the minimum axis perpendicular to S0. On the other hand, the ferromagnetic grains (magnetite) orient in relation to the strain field, which also produces the cleavage domain.
