Background: This study is aimed to perform the translation and cultural adaptation of the Neonatal Palliative Care Attitude Scale (NiPCAS) and evaluation of its psychometric properties with Portuguese neonatal nurses., Methods: The research started with a scoping review that allowed the identification of the NiPCAS. It was a methodological study with a quantitative approach. The semantic equivalence of the items was adjusted with the participation of 20 neonatal nurse experts. They performed facial and quantitative content validation. Psychometric validation of the NiPCAS was performed on a nonprobability nurses sample ( n = 283) in 13 level 3 neonatal units between July 2021 and February 2022. Confirmatory factor analysis using the polychoric correlation matrix was performed to estimate factor validity using the "lavaan" package for R statistical software. Internal consistency was estimated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and item sensitivity was assessed using the asymmetry and kurtosis coefficients. Empirical indices were considered: chi-square over degrees of freedom; comparative fit index; normed fit index; Tucker-Lewis index, and root mean square error of approximation; average extracted variance and composite reliability were used to assess convergent validity., Results: Asymmetry and kurtosis were <|3| and <|7|, respectively, suggesting psychometric sensitivity. The convergent validity of the factors was: F1, FCF1 = 0.90 and for F2, FCF2 = 0.80, and a lower value for F3, FCF3 = 0.40. According to the squared correlation criterion average variance extracted (AVE) between the factors, there was no discriminant validity for F1 and F2, but there was discriminant validity for F1, F3, F2, and F3., Significance of Results: This instrument has implications for providing end-of-life care to newborns and their families. The use of this instrument reveals several barriers and facilitating elements inherent in the organization and culture of the facility and nursing education.

Objectives: to analyze the association between the risk of occupational exhaustion (burnout) and safety culture in Primary Health Care., Methods: ross-sectional study conducted in 18 Primary Health Care Units in the Northeast of Brazil. Three questionnaires were used: sociodemographic, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and the Medical Office Survey on Patient Safety Culture. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee., Results: seventy-eight healthcare workers participated, of which 64.1% presented a reduced risk of burnout; and 11.5%, a high risk (p=0.000). The following were identified as weakened dimensions of safety culture: Work pressure and pace; Owner, managing partners, leadership support; Overall ratings on quality; and Overall rating on patient safety., Conclusions: an association was found between low risk of developing burnout syndrome and positive evaluation of safety culture.

Childhood and adolescence are crucial periods for healthy bone development throughout life. This study aims to establish normative data for trabecular bone score (TBS) and bone mineral density (BMD) measurements using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in healthy Brazilian children and adolescents., Purpose: To establish normative data for trabecular bone score (TBS) and bone mineral density (BMD) measurements using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) in healthy Brazilian children and adolescents., Methods: Healthy children and adolescents, aged 5 to 19 years, underwent medical interview, physical examination with anthropometric measurement, pubertal stage evaluation, and bone densitometry by DXA (Hologic QDR 4500). Boys and girls were divided into 2 age groups: 5-9 years old (children) and 10-19 years old (adolescents). BMD and bone mineral content (BMC) were measured following standard procedures. TBS measurements were performed using the TBS Insight ® v3.0.3.0 software., Results: A total of 349 volunteers were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Reference values were defined for each group of children and adolescents divided into 3-year age groups. Girls had lower values of TBS compared to boys (1.356 ± 0.116 and 1.380 ± 0.086 respectively, p = 0.029). For both boys and girls, BMC and spine BMD measurements were significantly higher in adolescent than in children (p = 0.0001; p = 0.0001; p = 0.0001, p = 0.0001, respectively). TBS range increased as pubertal development progressed. In both girls and boys, a 1-year increase in age was associated to a 0.013 increase in TBS. Body mass was a significant determinant for TBS. In girls, a 1 kg/m 2 increase in BMI was associated to an average TBS increase of 0.008., Conclusion: Our findings reinforce the evidence that TBS varies according to age, sex, and pubertal stage in healthy children and adolescents. This study established reference values for TBS in healthy Brazilian children and adolescents which can be used as normative data for this population., (© 2023. Psychological adjustment to any chronic disease, such as diabetes mellitus, concerns self-view rearrangement toward self-integrity and self-regulation. Both distance between self and disease paired with positive and negative new identities may contribute to adaptation to diabetes. The present investigation aimed to detect main trends on self-management in patients with both diabetes types within a self-regulatory framework. Sample consisted of 121 adult patients with both diabetes types. Answer to question about having diabetes or being a diabetic was combined with self-benefices or self-damages concerning diabetes in a 2 × 2 combination. Psychological adjustment to diabetes, anxiety and depression were evaluated among subgroups. Almost 16% of patients had any benefit with diabetes and a better psychological adjustment than patients reporting losses. Type 1 diabetes answered more "being diabetic" and type 2 "having diabetes". Education was positively associated with profits with diabetes. Patients referring "to have diabetes" and profits had the best diabetes psychological adjustment. Distance between self and diabetes does not seem to relate to psychological adjustment. Type 1 diabetes patients are likely to identify more with their disease comparing with type 2 diabetes, independently from gains or losses associated with diabetes. Better psychological adjustment related to more education and positivity highlights future interest on working with gains in diabetes patient education, fostering patient self-growth, self-integration and resilience.
