During primary education, classrooms are the places where students spend most of their time in educational activities. Educational environments, where the curriculum is implemented, have an important role in achieving the goal of the social studies curriculum. This research was conducted to determine social studies teachers' perspectives on the use of social studies classrooms. The study was conducted according to the phenomenology study design, one of the qualitative research methods. A semi-structured interview form, one of the qualitative research techniques, was used to collect research data. The questions in the semi-structured interview form were developed by the researcher by taking expert opinions and conducting a pilot application. There are four open-ended questions in the interview form to determine teachers' opinions on the use of social studies classrooms. The study group of the research consists of 20 social studies teachers of different ages and periods of professional experience working in different public schools. The collected data were analyzed according to descriptive and content analysis techniques. According to this research; Social studies teachers' opinions about the use of branch classrooms are positive. Smart boards and maps have been found to be the most popular teaching materials for teachers. It has been determined that branch classrooms will save teachers from the trouble of moving course materials and provide the opportunity to use and preserve more course materials. It has been concluded that students will enjoy the course more in such a learning environment and will have the opportunity to understand it more easily and learn permanently. The most striking opinions of teachers about how to create an ideal social studies classroom are: drawing maps on the walls and equipping the classroom with ready-made materials related to the lesson. Various suggestions have been presented regarding the results obtained from this research. Since the application of the branch classroom system is not widespread enough, conducting new studies by considering different variables on the subject and conducting research on designing social interests classrooms are some of the suggestions presented as a result of the research. The main purpose of this study is to identify the methods and techniques preferred by social studies teachers in teaching geography subjects, the problems they face and to provide solutions and suggestions for these problems. This research was carried out using the "Case Study" design. Data were collected through semi-structured interview forms. The study group consists of social studies teacher working at the 5ht 6th and 7th grade levels in secondary schools in Bafra district of Samsun province. In the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with a total of 20 social studies teachers, 9 female and 11 male. The data obtained from the research analyzed based on content analysis. With this research, the methods, and techniques that social studies teachers use in teaching geography subjects in social studies lessons and the problems they encounter while using these methods and techniques have been determined. It has been concluded that social studies teachers mostly use traditional methods, in line with the relevant studies in the literature on the subject. It has been determined that the teachers, who do not use modern methods and techniques adequately, attribute this situation to various such as the large number of students, the fact that they have to train the course curriculum according to the determined time and economic problems. In this research, the inclusion levels of geographical skills in the social studies curricula prepared and put into practice since 1968, the year when the social studies course started to be taught in Turkey, were examined. The study was designed in document analysis design of qualitative research method. In the study, 1968 Primary School Program, 1969 Social Studies Program to be tried in Secondary Schools, 1990 Primary School 4th and 5th Grade Social Studies Course Curriculum, 1998 Primary School Social Studies Course Curriculum, 2005 Primary School Social Studies Course Curriculum, 2018 Social Studies Course Curriculum (Primary and Secondary School 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades) prepared for social studies education in Turkey were used as documents. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that in all curricula prepared and implemented for the social studies course in Turkey from 1968 to the present day at the primary, secondary and elementary levels; 1998 Elementary Social Studies Curriculum included the most geographical skills and the 2005 Elementary Social Studies Curriculum included the least geographical skills. On the other hand, it was concluded that the most common geographical skill in all curricula was the ability to perceive space, while the least common geographical skills were observation and the ability to draw and interpret tables, graphs and diagrams. In line with these findings, it is recommended that geographical skills should be given equal place in the new social studies curricula to be prepared and geographical skills should be given more place in social studies curricula for a more functional geography teaching. Because in today's education system, more importance is given to skills education and in this context, the skills defined as geographical skills have an important place in the transfer of content related to the discipline of geography, where skills as well as knowledge have a wide place in the social studies course. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of animation use in primary school fourth grade social studies course on students' academic achievement and permanence of learned information. The study group of the research consists of 60 4th grade students studying in a primary school in the Ereğli district of Zonguldak province in the 2020-2021 academic year. In this study, a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used. Half of the 60 students selected by using the purposeful sampling method constitute the experimental group and the other half constitute the control group. In the research, while the animation-supported lessons were applied to the experimental group, the current education program was applied to the control group. The 25-item Academic Achievement Test developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool in the research. The data collected in the study were analyzed by using the SPSS 22.00 program. According to the results obtained from the research, it is seen that a significant difference between the pretest and posttest academic achievement test scores of the students in the experimental group is in favor of the posttest mean scores. This result reveals that animation supported teaching applied to the experimental group increases the academic success of the course. It is seen that a significant difference between the pretest and posttest academic achievement scores of the students in the control group is in favor of the posttest averages. This result reveals that the teaching applied to the control group increases the academic success of the course. In this case, it can be said that the training applied to both groups is effective. According to the results of the permanence test applied to the experimental and control groups in the research, it can be said that the animation supported teaching applied by the researcher is more effective than the current program in the permanence of what has been learned. Teaching health information to students can be made possible by the fact that teachers are health literate and reflect health literacy in their classroom behaviours. Based on this idea, this study was aimed to determine the health literacy levels of social studies teachers and to obtain their opinions on the reflection of health literacy on classroom behaviours. In the research, a sequential explanatory pattern from the mixed research method was used. A total of 206 social studies teachers from different regions of Turkey and with different qualifications were included in the participant group of the study. The participant group of the study consists of two parts. The maximum diversity method was used while forming the participant group that statistical data were collected from and while forming the participant group that qualitative data were collected, volunteerism was used. The statistical data of the study were collected by using the Turkish Health Literacy Scale-32 and the qualitative data were collected by using semi-structured interview form. In the analysis of statistical data, Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test were used and content analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. At the end of the research, it was concluded that the health literacy levels of social studies teachers are high. On the other hand, it was determined that the health literacy levels of social studies teachers did not differ within the scope of age, gender, education level, and region variables in which they worked. In addition, it was determined that social studies teachers have opinions that they make suggestions about health to their students, use health content in the course, check the health status of their students, and try to be a role model to their students. Historical figures, who occupy an important place in educating a good citizen, in gaining historical awareness and in the development of the national identity sense, are figures that have proven themselves in one or more areas, have transcend the boundaries of time and place and have been accepted by the society. In this study, it is aimed to determine teachers' views on the role of historical figures in Social Studies course. The study has been conducted in a qualitative phenomenological design. In this context, 15 social studies teachers who actively work in state schools in Elazig province center have been selected. As the study group, purposive sampling method has been used in accordance with the nature of qualitative research. For this purpose, one-on-one interviews have been conducted with the participants. According to the findings, teachers play a key role in teaching students on historical figures. It has been determined that teachers' mention of a writer, scientist and philosopher in lessons is become effective in terms of students' internalizing these personalities. In addition, it has been shown that historical figures are of effective in gaining concepts and values such as patriotism, justice, national identity. While the patriotism of individuals such as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Metehan and Corporal Seyit has been emphasized, the justice of the Ottoman State and the Ottoman State came to the fore within the concept of justice. In the sense of aesthetics, the most emphasis has been placed on art and architectural areas, while the most mentioned historical figure is become Mimar Sinan. The aim of this study is to reveal the opinions of classroom teachers who teach in the fourth grade of primary school on the teaching of social studies course as distance education during the pandemic process. This study, which was organized as a qualitative research, was determined as a case study. The study group consists of 80 classroom teachers working in the provincial centers of the Ministry of National Education in Elazig, Diyarbakir, Adana and Istanbul. A semi-structured interview form consisting of 8 openended questions was determined as the data collection tool for data collection. Content analysis technique was used in the data analysis process, and the opinions of the teachers were categorized as themes and sub-themes, and tabulated as frequency and percentage. As a result of the research, it was subjected to content analysis and the following results were obtained; The teaching of the social studies course as distance education negatively affected the motivation, attitude and success of the students towards the social studies course. In addition, the majority of teachers emphasized that students' participation in the course decreased and technological opportunities were insufficient. They also stated that distance education facilitates access to information, but at the same time, most of the students cannot attend the course. At schools, several courses have been designed to make students gain certain knowledge and skills in language, numeric, etc. To help them gain the skills of social expression, social studies course has been designed. However, in time, this course has turned to be a kind of oral course in which the knowledge is memorized and learners hardly ever gain the expected skills. On the contrary, social studies course exists to help individuals adapt the life of the society, have a happy life and fulfil their responsibilities towards their country, nation and the humanity. This course, which was first put into the literature in the USA in 1916, is now at the age of 100 in the world, and it is about to be 50 in Turkey. However, it is thought that the social studies course is deviated from its basic principles and background in Turkey today. For this reason, it is necessary to reconsider this course with its simple form. In this sense, this study argues the current situation of social studies course by touching upon its historical background and the purposes behind its design. It also aims to find out the basic considerations in social studies course, which has been applied, examined and discussed for about a century, in the light of the literature.

Okullarda dilsel, sayısal vb. çeşitli bilgi ve becerilerin öğrencilere kazandırılması için bazı dersler oluşturulmuştur. Sosyal ifade becerilerinin kazandırılması için de Sosyal Bilgiler dersi tasarlanmıştır. Ancak zamanla Sosyal Bilgilerin; Türkiye’de sadece bilgi ezberletilen, değer ve beceri kazandırmaktan uzak ve yaşamdan kopuk bir derse dönüştürüldüğü düşünülmektedir. Oysaki bu dersin temel varoluş amacı, bireyin ülkesine, milletine ve insanlığa yönelik görev ve sorumluluklarını yerine getirerek toplumsal yaşama uyum sağlamasına ve mutlu bir hayat sürdürmesine yardımcı olmaktır. 1916 yılında Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde dünya literatürüne giren bu ders, bugün dünyada 100. yaşını geride bırakmıştır. Türkiye’de ise Sosyal Bilgiler dersi 50. yaşına yaklaşmıştır. Ancak günümüz Türkiye’sinde Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin, tasarım gerekçeleri ve temel anlayışlarından hatta yaşamdan uzaklaştırıldığı söylenebilir. Bu nedenle Sosyal Bilgileri en yalın haliyle yeniden düşünme gereksiniminin ortaya çıktığı anlaşılmıştır. Çalışmada Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin tarihsel temelleri ve tasarım gerekçelerine değinilerek bugün geldiği durum tartışılmaktadır. Buna dayalı olarak bir asırdır uygulanan, incelenen, tartışılan Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin temelinde hangi düşünceler yer almaktadır? sorusuna literatür ışığında yanıt aranmaya çalışılmaktadır.

In recent years, concepts such as socialization of the learners, relating their knowledge to daily life, and organizing teaching activities according to individual differences have gained importance. The method of drama is regarded by many researchers as one of the most effective teaching methods that serve this purpose. It is seen that drama methods are frequently included in the curriculum and textbooks prepared by the Ministry of National Education. In the scope of the research, it was tried to determine the place, the importance and effectiveness of drama usage in the teaching of the history subjects in the 6th grade Social Studies lesson. In this study, action research was conducted in accordance with the use of drama. Since this research encompasses the teaching practices in the classroom environment, liberating / developmental / critical action research was preferred among 3 types of action research. The study group of the study is composed of 6th students from School located in Torbalı district of İzmir province. From time to time, students' parents and other teachers of social studies at the school were included in the study group. The data were provided through Pre-perception survey-final perception survey, Evaluation forms of drama work, Student's diary, Researcher's diary, Interview forms, Parent survey, Video, Voice recordings/photographs and student-made products. The lesson's implementation process, productivity and the effects on the students were studied in this research. It has been seen that the method of drama is efficient and effective in the teaching of history subjects in social studies class and also it was seen that students and their parents showed a positive attitude towards to this technique. İlkokul ve ortaokul ders kademesinde verilen derslerden biri olan Sosyal Bilgiler öğretiminde çeşitli modeller veya teknikler kullanılabilir. Bu modellerden biri de 5E Modelidir. 5E Modeli; Giriş, Keşfetme, Açıklama, Derinleştirme ve Değerlendirme aşamalarından oluşmaktadır. Sosyal Bilgiler dersi bu modele göre hazırlanacak olsa dersin beş temel aşamada işlenmesi gerekir. Öğretmenlerin derslerine hazırlıklı girmesi ve derste bir model takip ederek ders işleme sürecini geçirmesi öğrenci başarısına ve öğretmen yeterliliğine büyük katkı sağlar. Dolayısıyla bu çalışmada öğretmenlerin 5E Modeliyle hazırladıkları ders planlarını incelemek ve ders planı hazırlama becerilerini tespit etmek önemli olacaktır. Yapılan çalışmada 10 özel, 10 devlet okulunda görev yapan 20 farklı okuldan öğretmenlerin hazırlamış oldukları ders planları incelenmiştir. Doküman inceleme yöntemiyle yapılan değerlendirmeler için 10 farklı uzman görüşü alınarak, “5E Modeli Ders Planı Değerlendirme Formu” hazırlanmıştır. Özel okul ve devlet okulunda görev yapan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri tarafından 5E Modeline uygun olarak hazırlanan ders planları 5E Modeli Ders Planı Değerlendirme Formu’ na göre yapılan incelemeler sonucunda; özel okul öğretmenlerinin hazırladığı ders planlarının yeterlilik düzeyinin, devlet okulu öğretmenlerinin ders planlarına göre daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir., Various models or techniques can be used in Social Studies teaching, which is one of the courses given at primary and secondary school levels. One of these models is the 5E Model. Model 5E; It consists of Introduction, Exploration, Explanation, Deepening and Evaluation stages. If the Social Studies course is to be prepared according to this model, the course should be taught in five basic stages. The fact that teachers enter their classes prepared and follow a model in the lesson and pass the lesson process greatly contributes to student success and teacher competence. Therefore, in this study, it will be important to examine the lesson plans prepared by the teachers with the 5E Model and to determine their lesson plan preparation skills. In the study, lesson plans prepared by teachers from 20 different schools working in 10 private and 10 public schools were examined. For the evaluations made by the document review method, the "5E Model Lesson Plan Evaluation Form" was prepared by taking the opinions of 10 different experts. As a result of the examinations made according to the 5E Model Lesson Plan Evaluation Form, the lesson plans prepared in accordance with the 5E Model by the social studies teachers working in private and public schools; It has been determined that the proficiency level of the lesson plans prepared by private school teachers is higher than the lesson plans of public school teachers.

Sensitivity to the natural environment is of great importance in terms of environmental education of the students. For this purpose, in this research, alternative environmental practices have been misunderstood in terms of acquiring knowledge and awareness of the 6th Grade students and the natural environment, knowing and using concepts related to the environment, being aware of environmental problems and making attempts to solve them, being aware of the operation of environmental organizations and participating in environmental activities. The research problem identified as "Are alternatif environmental practices effective on the development of environmental sensivity values?". The research method was planned as an action research from qualitative research models. The data of the study, 2N forms, interview records, and evaluation rubrics for each of the alternative environmental practices were collected. The validity and reliability studies of the evaluation rubrics were conducted. The findings of the research were collected with activities such as Empathy, Eko Tourism, Vote Earth, Earth Hour, Earth Hour Lantern Project, Global Warming with Cartoons, Eco Schools Panel Preparations, Action Days Poster Preparation, and so on, through rubrics analysis and analysis through descriptive analysis. As a result, research findings show that students have developed awareness of environmental sensitivity as a value through alternative environmental practices and internalize environmental sensitivity values. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Sınıf öğretmenlerinin hayat bilgisi ve sosyal bilgiler derslerinde strateji, yöntem ve tekniklerin kullanılma durumuna ve kullanma tercihlerine ilişkin görüşlerin belirlenmesidir. Temel nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2020-2021 öğretim yılında Milli Eğitim Bakanlığında görev yapan 24 sınıf öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veri toplamak amacı ile araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler araştırmacı tarafından içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur. Öğretmen görüşlerinden elde edilen veriler sonucunda, sınıf öğretmenlerinin hayat bilgisi ve sosyal bilgiler derslerinde çoğunlukla sunuş yoluyla öğretim stratejisini kullanmanın yanı sıra buluş yoluyla öğretim stratejisini de kullanmakta oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmenlerin bu stratejileri kullanma gerekçelerinin başında ise sınıf yönetimi, zaman problemi ve konuları yetiştirme kaygısı gelmektedir. Ayrıca yöntem olarak en çok düz anlatım, örnek olay, tartışma ve soru-cevap yöntemini kullanan öğretmenler, teknik olarak ise drama ve beyin fırtınası tekniğini kullanmaktadırlar. Öğretmenler, bu yöntem ve teknikleri kullanma gerekçelerini ise öğrencilerin derse aktif olarak katılması, sınıf ortamının bu yöntem-tekniklere uygunluğu, hayat bilgisi ve sosyal bilgiler derslerine uygun olması olarak belirtmişlerdir. Sonuç olarak; sınıf öğretmenlerinin sınıf yönetimi, derse uygunluk, konu-içeriğe görelik, öğrencilerin ve öğrenme ortamlarının durumunu göz önünde bulundurarak derslerde belli öğretim strateji, yöntem ve teknikleri kullandıkları tespit edilmiştir. The purpose of this study is to determine the opinions of classroom teacher’s use of strategies, methods and techniques in life science and social studies lessons. The study group of the study, in which the qualitative research method was used, consists of 24 classroom teachers working at the Ministry of National Education in the 2020-2021 academic year. In the study, a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used to collect data. The data obtained were subjected to content analysis by the researcher. As a result of the data obtained from the teachers' opinions, it was determined that the classroom teachers mostly use the teaching strategies through presentations in life science and social studies lessons as well as using the teaching strategy through discovery. The primary reason for teachers to use these strategies is classroom management, time problem and anxiety about completing subjects. In addition, the teachers who use the method of lecture, case study, discussion and question-answer mostly use drama and brainstorming technique as a technique. The teachers stated the reasons for using these methods and techniques as the active participation of the students in the lesson, the suitability of the classroom to these method-techniques, and the suitability of life science and social studies lessons. As a result; It has been determined that classroom teachers use certain teaching strategies, methods and techniques in their lessons, taking into account the classroom management, suitability to the lesson, relative to the subject-content, and the status of students and learning environments.

50. The Effect of the Use of Station Technique in the 4th Grade Social Studies Lesson on the Academic Achievement and Attitudes of the Students

Bu çalışmanın amacı, istasyon tekniği kullanımının öğrencilerin akademik başarı ve tutumlarına etkisini araştırmaktır. Araştırmada 4. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi “Bilim, Teknoloji ve Toplum” ünitesine yönelik hazırlanan istasyon etkinlikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu; 2021-2022 eğitim öğretim yılının bahar döneminde Çanakkale şehri merkez ilçesinde bulunan bir devlet okulunda, 50 kişiden oluşan 4. sınıf öğrencilerinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada, deneysel desenlerden ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırma deney ve kontrol grubu olmak üzere iki şubede yapılmıştır. Uygulama öncesi hazırlanan 5 farklı istasyon etkinliği haftada 4 ders saati kullanılarak 4 haftada uygulanmıştır. Araştırma verileri araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “Bilim, Teknoloji ve Toplum Ünitesi Başarı Testi” ile Evin-Cansel, İ. (2006) tarafından geliştirilen “Sosyal Bilgiler Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada ulaşılan veriler bilgisayar ortamında analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda; istasyon tekniği kullanılan deney grubu öğrencilerinin akademik başarı düzeyinin olumlu etkilendiği, mevcut programdaki yöntemlerin kullanıldığı kontrol grubu öğrencilerinin ise başarı düzeyinde anlamlı farklılık olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğrenci tutumlarına bakıldığında ise istasyon tekniği kullanımının tutuma yönelik bir değişiklik meydana getirmediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır., The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of station technique use on students' academic achievement and attitudes. In the research, station activities prepared for the "Science, Technology and Society" unit of the 4th grade Social Studies lesson were used. The study group of the research; It consists of 50 4th grade students in a public school located in the central district of Çanakkale city in the spring term of the 2021-2022 academic year. In the research, quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used. The research was carried out in two branches, the experimental and the control group. 5 different station activities prepared before the application were applied in 4 weeks using 4 lesson hours per week. The research data were obtained from the "Science, Technology and Society Unit Achievement Test" developed by the researcher, and Evin-Cansel, İ. (2006) "Attitude Scale Towards Social Studies Lesson" developed by. The data obtained in the research were analyzed in the computer environment. As a result of the research; It was concluded that the academic achievement level of the experimental group students who used the station technique was positively affected, and there was no significant difference in the success level of the control group students who used the methods in the current program. When the students attitudes were examined, it was concluded that the use of station technique did not cause a change in attitude.
