El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar el papel de la microbiota intestinal en la progresión de la enfermedad de Parkinson, realizando una revisión bibliográfca. La enfermedad de Parkinson es una enfermedad neurodegenerativa que se produce por la degeneración de neuronas dopaminérgicas en la sustancia negra (pars compacta). La frecuencia de la enfermedad varía con la edad y el género, siendo más común en hombres mayores de 60 años. La causa principal de la muerte neuronal es desconocida y puede estar relacionada con procesos degenerativos como la disfunción mitocondrial, agregación de a-sinucleína, autofagia alterada, estrés del retículo endoplásmico (ER) o desregulación de la homeostasis del calcio intracelular. La microbiota intestinal es una parte integral del organismo humano y contribuye a muchos procesos fisiológicos, incluyendo la defensa inmunológica. La interacción entre la microbiota intestinal y el sistema nervioso central (SNC), se conoce como el eje microbiota-intestino-cerebro (MIC). La disbiosis intestinal, una alteración en la composición y función de la microbiota intestinal, se ha encontrado en personas con la enfermedad de Parkinson. Además, se ha demostrado que algunos compuestos producidos por la microbiota intestinal pueden tener propiedades antiinflamatorias y antioxidantes que podrían ser beneficiosas en esta enfermedad. También se ha encontrado una relación entre la microbiota intestinal y la producción de dopamina, un neurotransmisor clave que se encuentra disminuido en las personas con Parkinson.

We present a comprehensive study of the evolution of the glaciers on the Antisana ice cap (tropical Andes) over the period 1956–2016. Based on geodetic observations of aerial photographs and high-resolution satellite images, we explore the effects of morpho-topographic and climate variables on glacier volumes. Contrasting behaviour was observed over the whole period, with two periods of strong mass loss, 1956–1964 (−0.72 m w.e. yr−1) and 1979–1997 (−0.82 m w.e. yr−1), and two periods with slight mass loss, 1965–1978 (0.10 m w.e. yr−1) and 1998–2016 (−0.26 m w.e. yr−1). There was a 42 % reduction in the total surface area of the ice cap. Individually, glacier responses were modulated by morpho-topographic variables (e.g. maximum and median altitude and surface area), particularly in the case of the small tongues located at low elevations (Glacier 1, 5 and 16) which have been undergoing accelerated disintegration since the 1990s and will likely disappear in the coming years. Moreover, thanks to the availability of aerial data, a surging event was detected on the Antisana Glacier 8 (G8) in the 2009–2011 period; such an event is extremely rare in this region and deserves a dedicated study. Despite the effect of the complex topography, glaciers have reacted in agreement with changes in climate forcing, with a stepwise transition towards warmer and alternating wet–dry conditions since the mid-1970s. Long-term decadal variability is consistent with the warm–cold conditions observed in the Pacific Ocean represented by the Southern Oscillation index.

Introducción: Las fracturas diafisarias y distales de tibia son lesiones frecuentes en personas jóvenes que sufren un trauma de alta energía y en ancianos por un trauma de baja energía. El objetivo de este estudio fue comparar el tiempo quirúrgico, el uso de radioscopia, la evaluación funcional y el dolor en el tratamiento de fracturas diafisarias y distales de tibia mediante una técnica suprarrotuliana y una infrarrotuliana. Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo entre marzo de 2018 y octubre de 2019. La información de los pacientes se obtuvo de la historia clínica electrónica. Se incluyó a pacientes con fracturas diafisarias y distales de tibia. Se estudiaron y compararon los tiempos de radioscopia y de cirugía. El dolor posoperatorio se evaluó mediante la escala analógica visual y la función, con el puntaje de Lysholm. Resultados: Ochenta pacientes cumplían con los criterios de inclusión. Sus datos sociodemográficos fueron pareados en dos grupos similares. Treinta y seis pacientes fueron tratados con la técnica infrarrotuliana y 44, con la técnica suprarrotuliana. Se obtuvieron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en el tiempo de cirugía, el tiempo de radioscopia y en el puntaje de la escala analógica visual para dolor al año. Conclusiones: Los resultados mostraron un menor tiempo de cirugía y de radioscopia, y mejores resultados en la escala analógica visual para dolor con la técnica suprarrotuliana para el tratamiento de las fracturas mediodiafisarias y distales de tibia.

Climate change has led to a significant shrinkage of glaciers in the Tropical Andes during the last decades. Recent multi-temporal quantifications of ice mass loss at mountain range to regional scale are missing. However, this is fundamental information for future water resource planning and glacier change projections. In this study, we measure temporally consistent glacier area changes and geodetic mass balances throughout the Bolivian Cordillera Real and Tres Cruces based on multi-sensor remote-sensing data. By analyzing multi-spectral satellite images and interferometric SAR data, a glacier recession of 81 ± 18 km2 (29%; 5.1 ± 1.1 km2 a−1), a geodetic mass balance of −403 ± 78 kg m−2 a−1 and a total ice mass loss of 1.8 ± 0.5 Gt is derived for 2000–2016. In the period 2013–2016, ice mass loss was 21% above the average rate. A retreat rate of 15 ± 5 km2 a−1 and a mass budget of −487 ± 349 kg m−2 a−1 are found in this more recent period. These higher change rates can be attributed to the strong El Niño event in 2015/16. The analyses of individual glacier changes and topographic variables confirmed the dependency of the mass budget and glacier recession on glacier aspect and median elevation.

The Valle Alto basin in Bolivia is of national importance as an agricultural area and its water resources are essential for the subsistence of the local population and vital for the economic development of the country. Guaranteeing groundwater availability in this basin is crucial, considering that aquifers are the main source of water for irrigation and human consumption. In order to manage these resources sustainably, it is necessary to know the location and extent of the groundwater recharge. Thus, a soil water balance was performed using the Schosinsky method, in order to calculate the recharge rate and delimit the potential groundwater recharge areas in the Valle Alto basin. Rainfall was considered as the main input source for the model and 24 biophysical variables were characterized. This characterization included the evaluation of global circulation models, the geospatial delimitation of soil units and the analysis of 212 soil profiles. Based on the monthly balance, an annual recharge rate of 65.68 mm was estimated for the 2006–2020 period, corresponding to 121.11 × 106 m3 of recharged water. Of this volume, 80% is produced during the wet season (from December to March) and, spatially, the northeast region of the basin has the greatest potential for groundwater recharge. The obtained results from this research constitute an initial but important milestone, as they are the first of this nature for the Valle Alto basin on a regional level.

Los indicios de sobreexplotación de acuíferos en la región del Valle Central de Cochabamba evidencian la necesidad de tener un mejor entendimiento realizando monitoreo de los niveles piezométricos y configurando un modelo hidrogeológico para evaluar el comportamiento de los acuíferos. Alrededor de un 65% de agua para consumo humano para la región metropolitana de Cochabamba proviene de aguas subterráneas. El área de estudio se ubica en la zona de El Paso al noroeste del Valle de Cochabamba, considerada como una de las zonas de mayor importancia para la explotación de agua subterránea. El área de estudio se ubica dentro un abanico aluvial conformado por cantos rodados, gravas y arenas. El objetivo de este estudio es actualizar y expandir el monitoreo de niveles de una red de pozos en El Paso, como también entender mejor el comportamiento del flujo subterráneo usando un modelo hidrogeológico. El modelo fue configurado con el paquete MODFLOW y se realizaron mediciones de niveles para calibración y validación de los parámetros. La simulación de los niveles calculados con los observados muestra una raíz media cuadrática (RMS) de 5.69 m. y un coeficiente de correlación de 0.75. La conductividad hidráulica fue identificada como la más sensible a los resultados. La modelación se realizó en estado estacionario presentando una diferencia positiva en el balance de masas que indica un aporte de entrada al sistema de 26 m3. La dirección de flujo es de norte a sur paralelo a la pendiente de la superficie donde la dirección cambia de golpe en algunos puntos debido a la explotación. Los resultados demuestran que existe un equilibro en el sistema con un pequeño aporte lo que es viable realizar estudios en estado transitorio para identificar los cambios en el balance hídrico. Se ha detectado que no existe sobreexplotación debido al equilibrio que presenta un estado estacionario.

20. A Review of the Current State and Recent Changes of the Andean Cryosphere

The Andes Cordillera contains the most diverse cryosphere on Earth, including extensive areas covered by seasonal snow, numerous tropical and extratropical glaciers, and many mountain permafrost landforms. Here, we review some recent advances in the study of the main components of the cryosphere in the Andes, and discuss the changes observed in the seasonal snow and permanent ice masses of this region over the past decades. The open access and increasing availability of remote sensing products has produced a substantial improvement in our understanding of the current state and recent changes of the Andean cryosphere, allowing an unprecedented detail in their identification and monitoring at local and regional scales. Analyses of snow cover maps has allowed the identification of seasonal patterns and long term trends in snow accumulation for most of the Andes, with some sectors in central Chile and central-western Argentina showing a clear decline in snowfall and snow persistence since 2010. This recent shortage of mountain snow has caused an extended, severe drought that is unprecedented in the hydrological and climatological records from this region. Together with data from global glacier inventories, detailed inventories at local/regional scales are now also freely available, providing important new information for glaciological, hydrological, and climatological assessments in different sectors of the Andes. Numerous studies largely based on field measurements and/or remote sensing techniques have documented the recent glacier shrinkage throughout the Andes. This observed ice mass loss has put Andean glaciers among the highest contributors to sea level rise per unit area. Other recent studies have focused on rock glaciers, showing that in extensive semi-arid sectors of the Andes these mountain permafrost features contain large reserves of freshwater and may play a crucial role as future climate becomes warmer and drier in this region. Many relevant issues remain to be investigated, however, including an improved estimation of ice volumes at local scales, and detailed assessments of the hydrological significance of the different components of the cryosphere in Andean river basins. The impacts of future climate changes on the Andean cryosphere also need to be studied in more detail, considering the contrasting climatic scenarios projected for each region. The sustained work of various monitoring programs in the different Andean countries is promising and will provide much needed field observations to validate and improve the analyses made from remote sensors and modeling techniques. In this sense, the development of a well-coordinated network of high-elevation hydro-meteorological stations appears as a much needed priority to complement and improve the many glaciological and hydro-climatological assessments that are being conducted across the Andes.

21. Technical note: A low-cost albedometer for snow and ice measurements – theoretical results and application on a tropical mountain in Bolivia

This study presents a new instrument called a low-cost albedometer (LCA) composed of two illuminance sensors that are used to measure in situ incident and reflected illuminance values on a daily timescale. The ratio between reflected vs. incident illuminances is called the albedo index and can be compared with actual albedo values. Due to the shape of the sensor, the direct radiation for zenith angles ranging from 55 to 90° is not measured. The spectral response of the LCA varies with the solar irradiance wavelengths within the range 0.26 to 1.195 µm, and the LCA detects 85 % of the total spectral solar irradiance for clear sky conditions. We first consider the theoretical results obtained for 10 different ice and snow surfaces with clear sky and cloudy sky incident solar irradiance that show that the LCA spectral response may be responsible for an overestimation of the theoretical albedo values by roughly 9 % at most. Then, the LCA values are compared with two traditional albedometers, which are CM3 pyranometers (Kipp & Zonen), in the shortwave domain from 0.305 to 2.800 µm over a 1-year measurement period (2013) for two sites in a tropical mountainous catchment in Bolivia. One site is located on the Zongo Glacier (i.e., snow and ice surfaces) and the second one is found on the crest of the lateral moraine (bare soil and snow surfaces), which present a horizontal surface and a sky view factor of 0.98. The results, at daily time steps (256 days), given by the LCA are in good agreement with the classic albedo measurements taken with pyranometers with R2 = 0.83 (RMSD = 0.10) and R2 = 0.92 (RMSD = 0.08) for the Zongo Glacier and the right-hand side lateral moraine, respectively. This demonstrates that our system performs well and thus provides relevant opportunities to document spatiotemporal changes in the surface albedo from direct observations at the scale of an entire catchment at a low cost. Finally, during the period from September 2015 to June 2016, direct observations were collected with 15 LCAs on the Zongo Glacier and successfully compared with LANDSAT images showing the surface conditions of the glacier (i.e., snow or ice). This comparison illustrates the efficiency of this system to monitor the daily time step changes in the snow and ice coverage distributed on the glacier. Despite the limits imposed by the angle view restrictions, the LCA can be used between 45° N and 45° S during the ablation season (spring and summer) when the melt rate related to the albedo is the most important.

A formação de professores aos poucos tem ganhado força, com o intuito de transformações na forma de ensinar, modelos didáticos utilizados, práticas pedagógicas facilitando que a interdisciplinaridade seja inserida de maneira que aconteça a interação e interligação entre as disciplinas, para melhor compreensão dos fenômenos do cotidiano. Buscou-se mapear as estratégias e abordagens metodológicas utilizadas para a formação inicial e continuada, em licenciaturas interdisciplinares na área de Ciências da Natureza. Realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica, no portal de periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), segundo os descritores: ("formação de professor*") AND ("ciências") AND ("natureza"), selecionando apenas artigos com atividades realizadas com licenciatura em Ciências da Natureza ou Licenciatura Interdisciplinar (licenciaturas em Educação do Campo), com foco na área de Ciências da Natureza. Dos achados, selecionou-se 11 artigos publicados entre os anos de 2015 a 2020, sendo os mesmos divididos em dois tópicos: Formação de professores com estratégias ativas para os trabalhos que apresentassem alguma atividade prática em que o professor mostrasse ser sujeito ativo, e Formação de professores com abordagens teórico-reflexivo, as atividades práticas eram demonstradas aos professores participantes, seguida de teoria o que torna o envolvido um sujeito passivo. Conclui-se que discutir temas interdisciplinares de forma que haja trocas de conhecimento e experiências, na formação inicial e continuada, têm importância significativa do papel do professor para a construção do conhecimento.

Background: In relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, no evidence of disease activity-3 (NEDA-3) is defined as no relapses, no disability progression and no MRI activity. NEDA-4 status is defined as meeting all NEDA-3 criteria plus having an annualized brain volume loss (a-BVL) of ≤0.4%. Prospective real-world studies presenting data on NEDA-4 are scarce.Objective: To determine the proportion of patients failing to meet one or more NEDA-4 criteria and the contribution of each component to this failure.Methods: Forty-eight patients were followed for 12 months. Structural image evaluation, using normalization, of atrophy was used to assess a-BVL.Results: The patients had a mean age of 33.0 years (range 18–57), disease duration of 1.7 years (0.4–4) and Expanded Disability Status Scale score of 1.3 (0–4); 71% were women. All patients were on disease-modifying therapies. During follow-up, 21% of the patients had at least one relapse, 21% had disability progression, 8% had new T2 lesions, and 10% had gadolinium-enhanced lesions. Fifty-eight percent (28/48) achieved NEDA-3 status. a-BVL of >0.4% was observed in 52% (25/48). Only 29% (14/48) achieved NEDA-4 status.Conclusion: a-BVL is a good marker to detect subclinical disease activity. a-BVL is parameter to continue investigating for guiding clinical practice in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.

The French critical zone initiative, called OZCAR (Observatoires de la Zone Critique–Application et Recherche or Critical Zone Observatories–Application and Research) is a National Research Infrastructure (RI). OZCAR-RI is a network of instrumented sites, bringing together 21 pre-existing research observatories monitoring different compartments of the zone situated between “the rock and the sky,” the Earth’s skin or critical zone (CZ), over the long term. These observatories are regionally based and have specific initial scientific questions, monitoring strategies, databases, and modeling activities. The diversity of OZCAR-RI observatories and sites is well representative of the heterogeneity of the CZ and of the scientific communities studying it. Despite this diversity, all OZCAR-RI sites share a main overarching mandate, which is to monitor, understand, and predict (“earthcast”) the fluxes of water and matter of the Earth’s near surface and how they will change in response to the “new climatic regime.” The vision for OZCAR strategic development aims at designing an open infrastructure, building a national CZ community able to share a systemic representation of the CZ , and educating a new generation of scientists more apt to tackle the wicked problem of the Anthropocene. OZCAR articulates around: (i) a set of common scientific questions and cross-cutting scientific activities using the wealth of OZCAR-RI observatories, (ii) an ambitious instrumental development program, and (iii) a better interaction between data and models to integrate the different time and spatial scales. Internationally, OZCAR-RI aims at strengthening the CZ community by providing a model of organization for pre-existing observatories and by offering CZ instrumented sites. OZCAR is one of two French mirrors of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructure (eLTER-ESFRI) project.

In the Tropical Andes, a wide range of topographic and climatic settings results in a large diversity of glaciers distributed over mountain ranges and volcanoes. Previous studies, based on geodetic estimations, show that glaciers in this region have lost mass at a rate of -0.50 m w.e. yr-1 during the last two decades. At the interannual time step, efforts to understand the mass balance variability as a direct response to the Andean climate, have been constrained by the number of available observations and a variety of interpolation approaches used to compute the glaciological mass balances. Thanks to the availability of point mass balance on seven tropical glaciers, we assess the annual signal of the surface mass balances during the 1990-2020 period. Thus, glaciers in the inner tropics are subjected to a less pronounced mass loss of -0.35 m w.e. yr-1, while glaciers in the outer tropics exhibit a mass balance of -0.55 m w.e. yr-1. Our results suggest that this contrasting behavior may be related to the latitudinal location and elevation of glaciers. The interannual cycles captured by the point mass balance correlate with climate variability and periodical patterns as El Niño Southern Oscillation. Although its behavior depends on the climatic conditions at the regional scale and the local topography, on the whole, glaciers are shrinking throughout the region with negative consequences in terms of water availability for Andean countries., The 28th IUGG General Assembly (IUGG2023) (Berlin 2023)

The Linc-p21 locus, encoding a long non-coding RNA, plays an important role in p53 signaling, cell-cycle regulation, and tumor suppression. However, despite extensive study, confusion exists regarding its mechanism of action: is activity driven by the transcript acting in trans, in cis, or by an underlying functional enhancer? Here, using a knockout mouse model and a massively parallel enhancer assay, we delineate the functional elements at this locus. We observe that, even in tissues with no detectable Linc-p21 transcript, deletion of the locus significantly affects local gene expression, including of the cell-cycle regulator Cdkn1a. To characterize this RNA-independent regulatory effect, we systematically interrogated the underlying DNA sequence for enhancer activity at nucleotide resolution and confirmed the existence of multiple enhancer elements. Together, these data suggest that, in vivo, the cis-regulatory effects mediated by Linc-p21, in the presence or absence of transcription, are due to DNA enhancer elements.

29. Reduced melt on debris-covered glaciers: investigations from Changri Nup Glacier, Nepal

Approximately 25 % of the glacierized area in the Everest region is covered by debris, yet the surface mass balance of debris-covered portions of these glaciers has not been measured directly. In this study, ground-based measurements of surface elevation and ice depth are combined with terrestrial photogrammetry, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and satellite elevation models to derive the surface mass balance of the debris-covered tongue of Changri Nup Glacier, located in the Everest region. Over the debris-covered tongue, the mean elevation change between 2011 and 2015 is −0.93 m year−1 or −0.84 m water equivalent per year (w.e. a−1). The mean emergence velocity over this region, estimated from the total ice flux through a cross section immediately above the debris-covered zone, is +0.37 m w.e. a−1. The debris-covered portion of the glacier thus has an area-averaged mass balance of −1.21 ± 0.2 m w.e. a−1 between 5240 and 5525 m above sea level (m a.s.l.). Surface mass balances observed on nearby debris-free glaciers suggest that the ablation is strongly reduced (by ca. 1.8 m w.e. a−1) by the debris cover. The insulating effect of the debris cover has a larger effect on total mass loss than the enhanced ice ablation due to supraglacial ponds and exposed ice cliffs. This finding contradicts earlier geodetic studies and should be considered for modelling the future evolution of debris-covered glaciers.

Rationale & Objective Patients with kidney failure who are receiving maintenance dialysis have a higher risk of infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and worse clinical outcomes after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) than the general population. Therefore, immunization against SARS-CoV-2 with effective vaccines is an important component of health-maintenance strategies for these patients. This study evaluated the humoral and cellular responses to messenger RNA (mRNA) SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in this population. Study Design Observational prospective multicenter cohort study. Setting & Participants 205 patients treated at 3 dialysis units at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona (Spain) were vaccinated from February 3 to April 4, 2021, and followed until April 23, 2021. Exposure Immunization with either the mRNA-1273 (Moderna) or BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine. Outcome Seroconversion, defined as the detection of IgG antibodies to the receptor-binding domain of the S1 spike antigen of SARS-CoV-2 (anti–S1-RBD IgG), and the identification of activated CD4+ T cells 3 weeks after completing vaccination. Anti-S1-RBD IgG levels were also analyzed as a secondary outcome. Analytical Approach Univariate and multivariable logistic and multiple linear regression models were used to evaluate the associations between vaccination and study outcomes. Results We found that 97.7% of 175 vaccinated patients who were seronegative at baseline developed a response (humoral, cellular, or both); 95.4% of these patients seroconverted, while 62% of those tested for cellular immunity had a positive response. Greater age and immunosuppressive treatment were associated with lower antibody levels. Limitations Mandatory vaccine administration by health authorities. Anti–S1-RBD IgG levels were reported up to 150 U/mL and cellular immune responses were characterized qualitatively. Antibody assay and cellular response assessment may not be comparable with previously published laboratory approaches. Conclusions Immunization with mRNA vaccines generated a humoral and cellular immune response in a high proportion of patients with kidney failure receiving maintenance dialysis. These findings as well as the high risk of infection and poor clinical outcomes among these patients make their vaccination a health priority.

We present a comprehensive study of the evolution of the glaciers on the Antisana ice cap (tropical Andes) over the period 1956–2016. Based on geodetic observations of aerial photographs and high-resolution satellite images, we explore the effects of morpho-topographic and climate variables on glacier volumes. Contrasting behaviour was observed over the whole period, with two periods of strong mass loss, 1956–1964 (−0.72 m w.e. yr−1) and 1979–1997 (−0.82 m w.e. yr−1), and two periods with slight mass loss, 1965–1978 (0.10 m w.e. yr−1) and 1998–2016 (−0.26 m w.e. yr−1). There was a 42 % reduction in the total surface area of the ice cap. Individually, glacier responses were modulated by morpho-topographic variables (e.g. maximum and median altitude and surface area), particularly in the case of the small tongues located at low elevations (Glacier 1, 5 and 16) which have been undergoing accelerated disintegration since the 1990s and will likely disappear in the coming years. Moreover, thanks to the availability of aerial data, a surging event was detected on the Antisana Glacier 8 (G8) in the 2009–2011 period; such an event is extremely rare in this region and deserves a dedicated study. Despite the effect of the complex topography, glaciers have reacted in agreement with changes in climate forcing, with a stepwise transition towards warmer and alternating wet–dry conditions since the mid-1970s. Long-term decadal variability is consistent with the warm–cold conditions observed in the Pacific Ocean represented by the Southern Oscillation index.

El escenario educativo ya se encontraba ante una fase de cambio derivado de la adaptación al vertiginoso avance de la tecnología y, la práctica docente, regida por un paradigma centrado en el aprendizaje del estudiante, también estaba atravesando una etapa de reflexión y de innovación pedagógica. La incorporación de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (TIC) se propició, no solo para evitar caer en un rezago tecnológico, sino también para la búsqueda continua de la mejora de la calidad del proceso educativo. La pandemia del COVID-19 ha generado una situación de crisis que trascendió el sector de la salud y puso a todos los ámbitos de la sociedad frente a un sinfín de problemáticas. En este contexto y por la emergencia sanitaria, las instituciones de educación de nivel superior se vieron no solo en la obligación de cerrar sus puertas a toda actividad presencial sino también en la necesidad de reinventar sus entornos de aprendizaje para garantizar la continuidad de la educación, lo que hizo aún más imperiosa la utilización de las TIC, ahora direccionada a una modalidad de trabajo en línea. Pero, la insuficiente experiencia de los actores educativos, el escaso tiempo para diagramar estrategias metodológicas, y la falta de recursos que requiere la educación virtual, les generaron dificultades para cumplir su propósito. La evaluación, como parte del proceso de enseñanza y de aprendizaje también se vio afectada. Por ello, en el presente trabajo se analiza el método de evaluación llevado a cabo en Matemática 1, asignatura del 1er. año de la carrera de Contador Público de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas de la Universidad Nacional de Jujuy, en contexto de pandemia, durante su dictado en los ciclos lectivos 2020 y 2021. En este análisis, primero se caracterizan los mecanismos e instrumentos evaluativos empleados y luego, se comentan e interpretan los resultados obtenidos en base a su uso, de forma comparativa.

O canino superior é um dos dentes que apresentam grande predisposição a impacção, a etiologia dessa problemática é incerta, uma das hipóteses levantadas é devido a ser um dos últimos dentes a erupcionar na arcada. O transplante dental é uma alternativa de tratamento em casos de dentes impactados cujo posicionamento na arcada dentaria com tracionamento ortodôntico não seja possível. Também em casos onde a exodontia seguida de reabilitação com implantes não é uma opção. O objetivo deste trabalho é relatar um caso clínico de autotransplante dental de um canino superior incluso, com rizogênese completa em um paciente de 17 anos. O caso foi acompanhado por 13 anos, mostrando um bom prognóstico, e indicando o transplante autógeno como uma ótima solução clínica, estética e social.

El estudio asumió un enfoque mixto que consistió en realizar un diagnóstico de la producción agrícola de esta región, para identificar las posibilidades de adecuación del modelo de agricultura intensiva vigente en el municipio de Almería (España). Como resultado se propuso una estrategia de implantación que implica el trabajo sistemático en siete áreas fundamentales: recursos naturales, recursos humanos, infraestructura y equipamiento, innovación tecnológica, capacitación y asistencia técnica, respeto al medio ambiente y cooperación institucional. El documento concluye probando mejoras en el rendimiento de la producción agrícola, mediante un ejemplo teórico referido a la producción de tomate en los distritos 7 y 8 de Sucre.

Dissections of extracranial arteries are estimated to account for only 2% of all ischemic strokes but for approximately 20% of strokes in patients younger than 45 years old. Most dissections of extracranial arteries involve some trauma stretch, mechanical stress, or connective tissue abnormalities. In the absence of these disorders, determining the etiology of recurrent extracranial dissections is quite challenging because the underlying nature of these cases is poorly understood. We report the case of a 44-year-old female with recurrent dissections of the vertebral and carotid arteries associated with a heterozygous mutation p.Pro2122Leu in the NOTCH 1 gene. Her mother with a thoracic aortic aneurysm was also positive for this variant.

47. Retrospective Diagnosis of Parkinsonian Syndromes Using Whole-Brain Atrophy Rates

Objective: The absence of markers for ante-mortem diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD), multiple system atrophy (MSA), and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) results in these disorders being commonly mistaken for each other, particularly in the initial stages. We aimed to investigate annualized whole-brain atrophy rates (a-WBAR) in these disorders to aid in the diagnosis between IPD vs. PSP and MSA.Methods: Ten healthy controls, 20 IPD, 39 PSP, and 41 MSA patients were studied using Structural Imaging Evaluation with Normalization of Atrophy (SIENA). SIENA is an MRI-based algorithm that quantifies brain tissue volume and does not require radiotracers. SIENA has been shown to have a low estimation error for atrophy rate over the whole brain (0.5%).Results: In controls, the a-WBAR was 0.37% ± 0.28 (CI 95% 0.17–0.57), while in IPD a-WBAR was 0.54% ± 0.38 (CI 95% 0.32–0.68). The IPD patients did not differ from the controls. In PSP, the a-WBAR was 1.93% ± 1.1 (CI 95% 1.5–2.2). In MSA a-WBAR was 1.65% ± 0.9 (CI 95%1.37–1.93). MSA did not differ from PSP. The a-WBAR in PSP and MSA were significantly higher than in IPD (p < 0.001). a-WBAR 0.6% differentiated patients with IPD from those with PSA and MSA with 91% sensitivity and 80% specificity.Conclusions: a-WBAR within the normal range is unlikely to be observed in PSP or MSA. a-WBAR may add a potential retrospective application to improve the diagnostic accuracy of MSA and PSP vs. IPD during the first year of clinical assessment.

48. Ecosystem sentinels for climate change? Evidence of wetland cover changes over the last 30 years in the tropical Andes.

While the impacts of climate change on individual species and communities have been well documented there is little evidence on climate-mediated changes for entire ecosystems. Pristine alpine environments can provide unique insights into natural, physical and ecological response to climate change yet broad scale and long-term studies on these potential 'ecosystem sentinels' are scarce. We addressed this issue by examining cover changes of 1689 high-elevation wetlands (temporarily or perennial water-saturated grounds) in the Bolivian Cordillera Real, a region that has experienced significant warming and glacier melting over the last 30 years. We combined high spatial resolution satellite images from PLEIADES with the long-term images archive from LANDSAT to 1) examine environmental factors (e.g., glacier cover, wetland and watershed size) that affected wetland cover changes, and 2) identify wetlands' features that affect their vulnerability (using habitat drying as a proxy) in the face of climate change. Over the (1984-2011) period, our data showed an increasing trend in the mean wetland total area and number, mainly related to the appearance of wet grassland patches during the wetter years. Wetland cover also showed high inter-annual variability and their area for a given year was positively correlated to precipitation intensities in the three months prior to the image date. Also, round wetlands located in highly glacierized catchments were less prone to drying, while relatively small wetlands with irregularly shaped contours suffered the highest rates of drying over the last three decades. High Andean wetlands can therefore be considered as ecosystem sentinels for climate change, as they seem sensitive to glacier melting. Beyond the specific focus of this study, our work illustrates how satellite-based monitoring of ecosystem sentinels can help filling the lack of information on the ecological consequences of current and changing climate conditions, a common and crucial issue especially in less-developed countries.

49. New insights into the decadal variability in glacier volume of an iconic tropical ice-cap explained by the morpho-climatic context, Antisana, (0°29’ S, 78°09’ W)

We present a comprehensive study of the evolution of the glaciers in the Antisana ice cap (tropical Andes) over the period 1956–2016. Based on geodetic observations of aerial photographs and high-resolution satellite images, we explore the effects of morpho-topographic and climate variables on glacier volumes. Contrasting behavior was observed over the whole period, with two periods of strong mass loss: 1956–1964 and 1979–1997, and two periods with slight mass loss: 1965–1978 and 1997–2016. There was a 42 % reduction in the total surface area of the ice cap. Individually, glacier responses were modulated by morpho-topographic variables (e.g., maximum and median altitude, and surface area), particularly in the case of the small tongues located at low elevations (Glacier 1, 5, and 16) which have been undergoing accelerated disintegration since the 1990s, and will likely disappear in the coming years. Moreover, thanks to the availability of aerial data, a surging event was detected in the Antisana G8 in the 2009–2011 period; such an event is extremely rare in this region and deserves a dedicated study. Despite the effect of the complex topography, glaciers react in agreement with changes in climate forcing, with a stepwise transition towards warmer and alternating wet/dry conditions since the mid-1970s. Long-term decadal variability is consistent with the warm/cold conditions observed in the Pacific Ocean represented by the Southern Oscillation Index.
