Pittosporum undulatum Vent. is an invasive species scattered across all of the Azores’s Islands. Identifying processes to obtain economic returns from the plant is of great interest. This work aims to evaluate honey from P. undulatum from the Azores by determining its phenolic content and biological activities, to enhance its value and equate its potential applications in the food, cosmetic, and/or pharmaceutical industries. Herein, the phenolic content and antioxidant capacity were evaluated by spectrophotometric methods. Furthermore, and for the first time, anti-aging capacity was determined in honey samples. The total phenols content revealed values from 20.82 to 112.13 mg GA/100 g, from 10.25 to 103.26 mg GA/100 g for ortho-diphenols, and from 2.94 to 40.96 mg CAT/100 g for flavonoids content. Regarding the antioxidant capacity, the values ranged from 0.05 to 2.27 mmol Trolox/100g. Concerning the anti-aging capacity, promising results were obtained, namely for tyrosinase inhibitory capacity, with values ranging between 4.36% and 9.37%, while the values of elastase inhibitory capacity ranged from 37.52% to 45.88%. This study allowed us to understand the phytochemicals and biological activities of honey from P. undulatum, enhancing the possible health benefits, namely for potential anti-aging treatment, valorizing, at the same time, a national food product.

This study focused on an evaluation over 2.5 years to establish if a frequent attenders' service in an Emergency Department (ED) impacted on the overall number of patients attending as well as the numbers of their attendances. For this, three patient lists from April-September 2015 and three lists from a matched period in 2017 were randomly selected and the two samples compared. Results showed both a reduction in the number of total patients identified as frequent attenders as well as a reduction on the number of attendances to ED. The study suggests that the implementation of a frequent attenders' service is associated with benefits, not only for the individual attendances per patient, but also in an overall reduction of the number patients classed as frequent attenders.Declaration of interestThe authors have no conflict of interest to declare regarding this manuscript.

O presente relatório tem com objetivo principal a descrição e análise do estágio de nove meses realizado entre setembro de 2014 a junho de 2015, no hotel Vila Galé Marés, localizado em Guarajuba (Salvador da Baia) no Brasil, bem como a proposta de implementação de estratégias a nível melhoramento da execução dos serviços nos vários departamentos do hotel. O estágio consistiu pela passagem por todos os departamentos do hotel sendo eles: Restaurante e Bar; Cozinha; Receção; Animação; Housekeeping; Economato; Central de Reservas; Grupos e Eventos; Recursos Humanos e Gerência Geral. Em que através da observação e participação no dia-a-dia de cada um deles, foi possível descrever as principais tarefas desempenhadas e correspondente análise crítica, apresentando os pontos positivos e os pontos a serem melhorados nos respetivos departamentos. Com base na experiência vivida no decorrer do estágio, identificou-se que a falta de habilidade e rigor para executar os serviços de uma forma correta pode ser um fator que não promove devidamente a qualidade do hotel. Neste sentido, criou-se uma proposta de procedimentos operacionais padrão (POP’s) com o intuito de contribuir para a qualidade do serviço no Vila Galé Marés.
