Aim: The present study aimed to determine the level of mothers' comfort in sexual discourse (MCSD) with adolescent girls and related factors. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with cluster sampling (and then simple random sampling in the clusters) from 10 comprehensive urban health centers in Kashan in the winter of 2022 with participation of 384 mothers. Data were collected through questionnaires: "demographic and personal characteristics," "MCSD," and "mother's interest in sexual discourse." Using SPSS version 16, univariate analysis was performed using indices of dispersion and central tendency, Pearson's correlation coefficient test, and ANOVA, and in the second step, all the variables with P < 0.2 in the univariate analysis were entered into the multiple linear regression model. Results: The mean of MCSD was 37.04 ± 15.16 (on a scale of 13-78). Univariate analysis showed that MCSD has a significant relationship with several factors, but in the multivariate linear regression analysis, the simultaneous presence of two factors of mothers' interest to sexual discourse with girl (the most important factor) and the curiosity of teenagers in obtaining sexual information from their mothers were reported significant in the model and the two mentioned factors explained 43.3% of the variance. Conclusion: In mother-daughter sexual discourse, the level of interest and positive attitude of mothers and the curiosity of teenagers in obtaining sexual information from mothers are the two important factors of MCSD. Valid and reliable measurement tools are necessary for pain assessment among the elderly with dementia. This study aimed to translate the Mahoney Pain Scale (MPS) into Persian and evaluate its psychometric properties among Iranian elderly with dementia. In this methodological study, after translating and assessing the face and content validity of MPS, 100 elderly with dementia were selected via convenience sampling from nursing homes and clinics in Kashan in 2018–19; then, MPS was completed for them both at rest and during a movement pain protocol. MPS was assessed by exploratory factor analysis, known-group comparison, convergent validity, internal consistency, equivalence, and stability. The factor analysis revealed a one-factor structure, which explained 57.11% of the total variance. The Persian MPS differentiated patients with and without known painful conditions, as well as pain at rest and during the movement pain protocol (p <.0001). There was a significant positive correlation between the scores of MPS and PACSLAC-II (r =.87, p <.0001). The Cronbach's α, intraclass correlation coefficient and standard error of measurement of MPS were.91,.79, and ±1.37, respectively. Aims: Stroke affects the quality of life by affecting daily activities. This study aimed at determining the factors predicting quality of life in patients with stroke referring to Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Kashan. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, sampling was done by census method during 2019 and in the first 6 months of 2020, and 188 patients with stroke referring to Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Kashan who had at least 2 months after stroke were evaluated. Data collection tools were questionnaire of Stroke Impact Scale-16 and possible factors associated with stroke. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16 using the tests of Mann–Whitney, Kruskal–Wallis, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient (Spearman), and multivariate linear regression analysis. Findings: The mean quality of life was 50.92 ± 24.97. In univariate analysis, the quality of life was significantly associated with gender, marital status, education level, type of stroke, use of rehabilitation services, spouse's education level, occupation, number of children, regular exercise, history of hypertension, and previous history of stroke. Based on the results of multivariate analysis, 62.4% of variance was explained by four factors of the required number of rehabilitation sessions, history of previous stroke, level of education, and severity of stroke (F = 11.597, R2 = 0.624, and P < 0.001). The most important factor was the number of rehabilitation sessions required. Conclusion: To improve the stroke patients' quality of life, healthcare professionals should pay attention to the predictive role of low education level, more need for rehabilitation, severity, and history of stroke in their programs and procedures. Aims: In middle age, women's psychological capital decreases. Happiness is one of the possible solutions to this problem. This study was designed to investigate the effect of happiness on the psychological capital of middle-aged women. Materials and Methods: The present study is a clinical trial study in which 60 middle-aged women participated through continuous sampling. The samples were divided into control and intervention groups by block randomization. The experimental group received group happiness training for 8 sessions of 90 min over 4 weeks. The control group did not receive any intervention. Psychological capital scores were measured at the beginning, end, and 4 weeks after the end of the study. The psychological capital questionnaire of McGee et al. and the background data questionnaire was used to collect information. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16. Results: The mean score of psychological capital at the beginning of the study in the two groups of intervention (100.615 ± 6.616) and control (104.9 ± 5.921) was not statistically significant. At the end of the intervention in the experimental group (146.154 ± 9.362) and the control group (109.700 ± 6.869) and 4 weeks after the intervention of the experimental group (129.423 ± 9.153) and the control group (110.700 ± 6.670), a statistically significant difference was observed (P < 0.0001). The difference between the scores of the two groups at the end and 4 weeks after the intervention in all dimensions of psychological capital (self-efficacy, hope, optimism, and resilience) was statistically significant. Background:Objective:Methods:Results:Conclusion:Trial registration:Fatigue is a common problem following the acute phase of COVID-19. Potential interventions to reduce fatigue and improve quality of life are appropriate.The study aimed to investigate the effect of auriculotherapy on persistent fatigue in recovered patients from acute phase COVID-19.This double-blind clinical trial was conducted in 2022 in Kashan, Iran on 52 recovered patients reporting persistent fatigue following acute phase COVID-19. A convenience sample was selected and randomly assigned to sham and intervention groups. The intervention group received four weeks of auriculotherapy with Vaccaria seeds attached to six fatigue-related auriculotherapy points on both ears. In the sham group, adhesive tapes were attached to the same points. Fatigue was assessed by the Chalder Fatigue Scale before (T0), after (T1), and four weeks after (T2) the intervention. Both per-protocol and intention-to-treat analyses were used.The two groups differed on financial status and hospitalization history (p < 0.05). The time-group interaction effect was significant for fatigue after adjusting for confounders (p < 0.0001). Fatigue scores of the intervention group were significantly lower than the sham group at T1 and T2 (p < 0.0001). In addition, fatigue scores in the intervention group decreased significantly over time, while in the sham group, fatigue first decreased briefly and then increased (p < 0.05).This initial trial suggested that auriculotherapy may reduce intensity of fatigue and therefore could potentially be integrated into rehabilitation programs for patients with prolonged COVID-19.Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials identifier: IRCT20100211003329N9.
