Cubic-shaped hematite (C-Fe2O3) functionalized with amine groups was directly prepared via one-pot hydrothermal reaction of Fe3+ with 1,12-diaminododecane (DA-12) in aqueous solution (50% ethanol). Herein, DA-12 (as a Lewis acid) promoted the aggregation of α-FeOOH nanorods with Lewis base sites, leading to the rapid recrystallization and conversion into uniform C-Fe2O3. C-Fe2O3 was subsequently deposited with nanosized Au via sonochemical reduction of 1.0 wt% HAuCl4 (0.1–0.8 mL), hereafter referred to as Au-deposited C-Fe2O3 (C-Fe2O3@Au). X-ray diffraction patterns of C-Fe2O3@Au confirmed the hexagonal crystalline phases of hematite and crystalline Au (111) and showed a weak broad band attributed to the amorphous carbon of DA-12. C-Fe2O3@Au was tested as a visible-light photocatalyst towards the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye. C-Fe2O3@Au (0.1–0.4 mL of 1.0 wt% HAuCl4) exhibited 6–8 times higher photocatalytic activity than the Au-free counterpart (C-Fe2O3). The enhanced photocatalysis was mainly attributed to the improved separation efficiency of photo-excited charge carriers, i.e., the facilitated transport of electrons from the conduction band to the lower lying Fermi level of Au. However, the photocatalytic activity of C-Fe2O3@Au (0.8 mL of 1.0 wt% HAuCl4) was decreased probably due to the reduction of active sites for MB adsorption by the high coverage of the Au layer. The combined hydrothermal and sonochemical methods provided the direct synthetic route to cubic-shaped hematite decorated with nanosized Au and surface amine functionality as a promising visible-light photocatalyst.

Sector Lifting Tool (SLT) is purpose-built tool for the lifting and transferring ITER components. The purpose of SLT is to lift and transfer Vacuum Vessel (VV) and Toroidal Field Coil (TFC) from Upending Tool to Sector Sub-assembly Tool (SSAT). After the sub-assembly at SSAT in ITER assembly hall, 40 °Sector which is composed of VV, VVTS and two TFCs is transferred from SSAT to ITER tokamak pit. Sector Lifting Tool and lifted components are connected with the lifting attachments. The lifting attachments have a same function as adaptor for interface between SLT and lifted component. The weight of assembled 40 °Sector is about 1250 tonnes. SLT is designed to withstand even two times component’s weight considering the safety factor of lifting accessary. This paper describes the design of Sector Lifting Tool and shows that the structural integrity has been verified through analysis. The structural analysis was performed in accordance with the ITER load specification and tooling procedure. In analysis result, the stresses and deflections turned out under the allowable ranges.

PF5 and 6 coil assembly tool is used to transfer, support and align the PF 5 & 6 coil. The tools are comprised of PF5 lifting adapters, PF5 temporary support and align units, PF6 lifting adapters, and PF6 temporary support and align unit. PF 5 and 6 coil will be lifted from assembly hall to the tokamak pit using PF 5 and 6 lifting adapter. Then, PF5 and 6 will be temporarily placed on their temporary support and align unit. These temporary supports will be used until completion of sector assembly in tokamak pit. Then, PF5 and 6 coil will be aligned using the hydraulic jacks to their final position. The structural analysis has been performed to assess the structural integrity of the tools according to their design criteria and EN standards. PF5 and 6 lifting adapters are classified as the lifting accessory (EN 13155). PF5 and 6 temporary support and align units are classified as the steel structure (EN 1993) and the lifting table (EN 1570-1) as well, since the tools have functions of supporting and aligning. The structural stresses of the tools are lower than the allowable stress. This paper provides the design descriptions and the structural analysis results on PF 5 and 6 coil assembly tools.

The purpose of the upending tool (UT) is upending the vacuum vessel (VV) 40-degree sectors and the toroidal field coils (TFC) from the horizontal delivery orientations to the vertical assembly orientations. According to ITER assembly procedure, this upending operation is carried out by four hooks of the tokamak crane. VV or TFC upended by UT is transferred to sector sub-assembly tool (SSAT) for sector sub-assembly. For this reason, UT is classified as a lifting accessory in the ITER load specification. This paper describes UT design and upending sequence by two cranes with target components (VV and TFC) and presents the analysis results performed for the final design to verify the structural integrity of UT. The analysis cases for this verification are composed of the horizontal and vertical supporting on the floor and lifting. The simplified FE models for the lifted components (VV and TFC) that are provided from ITER Organization Central Team (IOCT) are used for this structural analysis.

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) is procuring 100% of the ITER Central Solenoid (CS) conductors. The CS conductor is required to maintain the performance under 60000 pulsed electromagnetic cycles. JAEA tested two internal-tin Nb3Sn conductors for the CS at the SULTAN test facility. As a result of destructive examination, the twist pitches of both of the cables satisfied requirements of the ITER Organization (IO). The current sharing temperatures Tcs of each sample were 6.6 and 6.8 K before cyclic operation, and the Tcs values were 6.8 and 6.9 K after 9700 electromagnetic cycles, including three warm-up/cooldowns, respectively. The Tcs performance of both samples satisfied the IO requirement. The ac losses of CSKO1-C and CSKO1-D were approximately half of typical bronze-route CS conductors at 2 and 9 T. The ac loss at 45.1 kA after the cycling was 1.5 times higher than that without the transport current. An almost constant strain of the jacket was observed after the test as a result of the residual strain measurement. Therefore, the deformation of the cable might have been homogeneous along the conductor axis. Because of the higher Tcs of CSKO1-D than CSKO1-C, JAEA started the manufacturing of the CS conductor with the same specification as CSKO1-D.

The ITER toroidal field (TF) conductor is made up of superconducting Nb3Sn and copper strands assembled into a multistage, rope-type cable inserted into a conduit of butt-welded stainless steel jacket sections. For the ITER Project, the Korean Domestic Agency (KODA) took the responsibility of the procurement of 27 superconducting conductors for the ITER TF magnets. After concluding the Procurement Arrangement (PA) with the ITER International Organization in May 2008, KODA has been implementing the PA through four major industrial contracts: (1) Nb3Sn strand, (2) cable, (3) stainless steel jacket sections, and (4) jacketing. Prior to the production of conductors required for the TF coils, one 760-m-long copper dummy conductor and one 100-m-long superconducting conductor were fabricated for manufacturing process qualification. As of June 2013, 16 TF conductors were successfully manufactured. The full-size conductor performance tests in the SULTAN facility yielded very high performance. This article describes the technical requirements of the TF conductor and how KODA has been manufacturing the conductors with a high-level quality assurance/quality control system. It also presents the results of acceptance tests, including those of the SULTAN test.

Manufacturing of superconducting Nb3Sn based Cable-in-Conduit Conductor (CICC) for Toroidal Field (TF) coils for the ITER tokamak under the responsibility of the ITER Domestic Agency for the Republic of Korea, ITER Korea, has been in progress since early 2012. Production of sufficient CICC needed to fabricate the first TF coil solely using Korean (KO) conductor has been achieved. Furthermore, low temperature performance verification tests near ITER operating conditions on a second CICC sample, following tests on a sample from the first KO CICC destined for an ITER TF coil, have recently been performed at the EPFL-CRPP SULTAN facility in Villigen, Switzerland. This paper provides an overview on all CICC that is destined for the first ITER TF coil to be fabricated with KO CICC, along with a brief summary of the results of the low temperature performance verification tests on KO CICC samples.

According to the pre-qualification program for the production of Korean conductor for ITER TF magnet, a CICC(Cable In Conduit Conductor) sample for SULTAN test was developed based on the ?Option 2? specification which is the improved one among the two established baseline designs. For the assessment of performance, SULTAN test of the conductor sample was carried out in CRPP employing recently updated instrumentations on the sample and the joint of two conductor pieces, which has been discussed and modified for the proper estimation of . As a course of the analysis, the assessment of values was presented using the basic protocol of data reduction, and the discussion was made on the standard process of analysis. In addition, we investigated some exposed problems in the data manipulation such as non-linear voltage slopes being possible to be related to conductor characteristic itself and the initial offset problem in the calorimetric method. On the presentation of the test results, we also report the manufacture of the conductor with the qualification of the components including carefully designed Nb3Sn internal-tin superconducting strands for an improvement of conductor performance.

We have developed an apparatus to investigate the effect of transverse stress under axial strain on the critical current of superconducting strands. An internal tin Nb3Sn wire is soldered on a C-shape ring (called Pacman) made of 2% beryllium doped copper alloy and axial strain from -0.7 to 0.7% can be applied. The actual strain on a sample was estimated from a comparison with the critical current measurement results using a Walter spiral probe. Reversible transverse stress effects on the critical current were studied in this work and the transverse pressure was applied up to 40 MPa under ±0.5% axial strain. The critical current was initially increased about 3% as transverse load was applied and then decreased almost linearly under compressive axial strain. Similar behavior is observed under tensile axial strain but the critical current decreases rather sharply at higher load. A unified description based on 3 dimensional deviatoric strain was difficult for the sample studied in this work.

Background/Aims: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the level and pattern of cyclooxygenase-2 (Cox-2) expression in endometriosis and to investigate the correlation between the expression of Cox-2 and several clinicosurgical parameters. Methods: Twenty-six patients with endometriosis and 21 patients with other benign gynecological conditions were enrolled. The eutopic endometrium was sampled by pipelle, and fragments of ovarian endometrioma and non-endometriotic ovarian cysts were sampled during surgery. Total RNA isolation and semiquantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction was performed. Results: The expression of Cox-2 mRNA (mean ± SEM) in eutopic endometrium and ovarian endometriotic tissue significantly increased in patients with endometriosis compared with the controls. The expression of Cox-2 increased significantly in the proliferative phase in eutopic endometrium and in the secretory phase in ovarian endometriotic tissue of patients with endometriosis compared with the controls. Cox-2 mRNA expression in the endometrium and ovarian lesions significantly correlated with serum CA-125 and the diameter of the endometrioma. Conclusions: Cox-2 expression increased in the eutopic endometrium and ovarian endometriotic tissue of the patients with endometriosis. These findings indicate that Cox-2 may be involved in the pathogenesis and progression of endometriosis.

This study analyze the effect of machine tools, cooling lubrication environments and cutting conditions on surface roughness and cutting force, and propose the combination of cutting conditions which minimizes the effect of machine tool variables on the dispersion of cutting force and surface roughness by treating the changes in machine tool itself and the installation environments as a noise factors. To do so, the Taguchi method is used to establish an experiment plan, and flat end milling is carried out to measure cutting force and surface roughness. The research results show that in the case of cutting force, the effect of cutting conditions is dominant, and changes in machine tools and cooling lubrication environments barely have effect on cutting force. However, in the case of surface roughness, all of the cutting conditions, machine tool and cooling lubrication environment variables have impact. In order to select a combination of cutting conditions insensible to changes in machine tools, considerations for feed per revolution and axial depth of cut turn out most important in the aspect of cutting force, and considerations for feed per revolution is most important in the surface roughness.

The development of a high performance superconducting magnet requires a thorough understanding of the strain effect in the critical current density (J/sub c/) of Nb/sub 3/Sn strands. A modified version of the WASP device is used for the investigation of the strain effect. The spring is made of BeCu alloy and is capable of applying strain up to 0.7% reversibly at 4.2 K. Several types of high performance Nb/sub 3/Sn strands (J/sub c/>1000 A/mm/sup 2/ at 12 T and 4.2 K) have been developed using internal tin process. A comparative study on the axial strain dependence of the critical current is performed.

We have synthesized ZnCNi3 in which Zn replaces Mg of the superconducting intermetallic perovskite MgCNi3 ( K). Dc-resistivity and magnetic measurements show that ZnCNi3 is a paramagnetic metal without onset of superconductivity down to 2 K. Furthermore, even though the two compounds have the same lattice structure and carrier density, their low temperature specific heats are substantially different. We consider possible origins of these observations and show that the strikingly different Tc can be understood within the BCS theory.

We investigate the origin of the anomalous enhancement of ferromagnetism with decreasing the tolerance factor $t$ in ${\mathrm{La}}_{0.15\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Y}}_{x}{\mathrm{Ca}}_{0.85}{\mathrm{MnO}}_{3}$. The decrease of $t$ bends the $\mathrm{Mn}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{O}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{Mn}$ bond angles from $180\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$, which weakens the antiferromagnetic (AFM) interaction and leads to the decrease of the monoclinic $C$-type AFM phase transition temperature, as well as its phase fraction. This change reduces the effect of the shear strain on the Jahn-Teller splitting of ${\mathrm{MnO}}_{6}$ octahedra in the residual orthorhombic phase, which favors the development of the Griffiths phase and thereby enhances the ferromagnetism at low temperatures. Our results provide strong evidence that the effect of the coexisting AFM phase is the dominant factor determining the strength of the ferromagnetism of slightly electron-doped manganites.

We have observed net electron transport at zero bias, induced by surface acoustic wave (SAW), through a double-walled carbon nanotube on top of a GaAs substrate. As gate voltage varied, the SAW-induced current showed quasiperiodic oscillations ranging from positive to negative values. Such zero-bias oscillations were found to be closely related with the Coulomb oscillation at finite bias. SAW-induced ratchet pumping could explain our observations.

By combining surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters with a carbon nanotube (CNT) we could generate SAW‐induced electron transport at zero bias. We observed non‐zero electric current through the CNT when injecting 2.72 GHz SAW through the CNT on a GaAs substrate. The sign of the SAW‐induced current depended on gate voltages.

Thin films of aligned carbon nanotubes were prepared by a simple mechanical rubbing from a singlewalled carbon nanotube powder, which was synthesized by the catalytic arc discharge. The measured electrical resistivity shows high anisotropy $({\ensuremath{\rho}}_{N}/{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{P})$ ranging from 5 to 15. The annealed samples show a monotonic decrease in the resistivity with increasing temperature. Carbon nanotubes in the mat act as strong Luttinger liquids with g values ranging from 0.18 to 0.26, similar to an isolated nanotube. We propose that the transport is dominantly governed by the formation of metal-metal crossed junctions of nanotubes in the mat.

The ITER tokamak being constructed in southern France will incorporate a central solenoid (CS) coil consisting of 6 modules stacked one on top of the other. Each module will be constructed from round-in-square $\hbox{Nb}_{3}\hbox{Sn}$ based superconducting cable-in-conduit conductor (CICC). Production of CS conductor for the ITER tokamak had been delayed due to discoveries of faster than expected performance degradation. Investigations into mitigating this shortfall have included using internal-tin (IT) route $\hbox{Nb}_{3}\hbox{Sn}$ strand in place of the bronze (BR) route strand that was originally proposed. Prototype ITER CS conductor samples have been produced using IT route $\hbox{Nb}_{3}\hbox{Sn}$ strand in conjunction with cabling optimization, and conductor performance tests show that they satisfy ITER performance requirements. One of the suppliers of IT route ITER $\hbox{Nb}_{3}\hbox{Sn}$ strand, which will be supplying superconducting strand for ITER CS conductor, is Kiswire Advanced Technology Ltd. (KAT) of Daejeon, Korea. The characteristics of their prototype $\hbox{Nb}_{3}\hbox{Sn}$ strand for ITER CS conductor are presented. Furthermore, performance degradation of the CS strand due to possible strand deformations during the cabling process was also investigated. The results show similarities as well as differences with recent results obtained with BR route $\hbox{Nb}_{3}\hbox{Sn}$ strand. However, direct interpretation of the strand deformation versus performance results may not lead to correct predictions of cable performance because of the strand contact interaction mechanism investigated.

The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) cable-in-conduit conductor used in the superconducting magnet system consists of a cable made of 300 to 1440 strands housed in a stainless steel tube (called as jacket or conduit). There are circular, square, as well as circle-in-square jackets, made of either a very low carbon AISI 316LN and AISI 316L grade stainless steels, or a high Mn austenitic stainless steel developed for ITER called JK2LB. While the manufacturing of superconducting CICC (cable in conduit conductor) and winding conductors into winding packs for ITER TF magnets, cold work is unavoidably applied on the jacketing tube. This article investigates the effect of plastic deformation on low temperature mechanical and magnetic properties of austenite 316LN stainless steel tube for ITER TF conductor. To simulate the manufacturing process of TF magnet, tubes were compacted, extended to 2.5% in longitudinal direction and heat treated. After each step, specimens were sectioned using wire cutting EDM, and tensile tests at 4 K, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and hardness tests have been carried out on those specimens. Remarkable reductions of elongation at failure have been observed as the amount of cold work is increased through compaction and extension. Further, correlations among results of tensile tests, magnetic susceptibility measurements and hardness tests are presented.

The ITER machine will require approximately 250 tons of NbTi strands and 500 tons of Nb3Sn strands. NbTi will be used in the Poloidal Field (PF) coils, Correction Coils (CC) and feeder busbars, whereas Nb3Sn will be used in the Central Solenoid (CS) and Toroidal Field (TF) coils. The large amount of superconducting strands needed requires worldwide procurement, involving suppliers from six of the seven ITER Domestic Agencies (DAs). To ensure reliable test results, it is necessary to benchmark the test facilities at each supplier and at each DA reference laboratory for physical and superconducting properties measurement, as well as sample preparation techniques. Following previous benchmarking efforts related to ITER procurement in the mid-1990's and to supplier and DA laboratory qualification performed on bronze route Nb3Sn strands in 2009, we report here the latest rounds on internal tin Nb3Sn and NbTi strands. Ten participants from five DAs (China, EU, South Korea, Russia, and the U.S.) together with CERN (the ITER Organisation's reference laboratory) took part in the benchmarking of internal tin Nb3Sn strands, and six participants from China and Russia, plus CERN, participated in the benchmarking of NbTi strands.

Objective : The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between SCC Ag and the prognosis in cervical cancer patients following concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). Methoda : The charts of 116 patients following concurrent chemoradiotherapy among 330 patients diagnosed to cervical cancer at Yonsei University Medical Center from Jan. 1998 to June 2003 were reviewed retrospectively. Clinical characteristics (age, parity, body mass index), stage, lesion size, cell type, squamous cell subtype, initial SCC Ag ( 1.5). posttreatment SCC Ag ( 1.5) was evaluated with overall survival. Distribution of SCC Ag level before CCRT in relation to FIGO stage and failure pattem in SCC positive patients before CCRT were reviewed. Overall survival was estimated according to respectivelay, subgroups of initial SCC Ag, SCC Ag after CCRT and posttreatment SCC Ag, Chi square test and Kaplan Meier test were used for statistical analysis (P SCC Ag SCC Ag SCC Ag) of initial SCC Ag, SCC Ag after CCRT, and posttreatment SCC Ag were significantly correlated with overall survival (P=0.0337, 0.0001, 0.0446, respectively). Conclusion : The measurements of the levels of initial SCC Ag, SCC Ag after CCRT and posttreatment SCC Ag are expected to be useful in predicting the prognosis of the patients with cervical cancer.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between bladder trabeculation, urinary function, and the stage of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). The medical records of 104 patients with POP who underwent cystoscopies and urodynamic studies were reviewed retrospectively. Age, incidence of detrusor instability, stage and site of POP, and the parameters of urodynamic studies of patients with and without bladder trabeculation were compared. The difference in the incidence of bladder trabeculation was estimated between patients with and without a suspected bladder outlet obstruction. There were significant differences in the patients' age, stage of POP, and maximal voiding velocity. Patients with a suspected bladder outlet obstruction had a significantly higher incidence of bladder trabeculation. In addition, patients with advanced stages of POP were also found to have a higher incidence of bladder trabeculation.

The Korean Domestic Agency (KODA) for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project has taken the responsibility of the procurement of cable-in-conduit conductors for the ITER toroidal field magnet. While procuring 27 conductor unit lengths, which are the Korean sharing, 10 conductors have gone through the superconducting performance test, under low temperature and high magnetic field, as one of the final acceptance tests. The sample assembly and instrumentation of various voltage taps and temperature sensors have been done according to the specified procedure, which had been agreed between domestic agencies and the ITER International Organization. The performance test program, which has also been agreed, was carried out. For the assessment of the current sharing temperature (Tcs), the standard analysis procedure has been adopted. Tcs of all samples, at 68 kA and a background field of 10.78 T, after 1000 cyclic current loads are well above the acceptance criterion. By analyzing the electric field as a function of temperature, the effective strain (eeff) and transition index (n-value) were reduced, and the behavior of eeff will be discussed in terms of the electromagnetic load, i.e., I × B. The effective strain was compared with the physical strain and results with a numerical simulation.

The Republic of Korea is participating in the ITER project to construct and operate the ITER tokamak for the purpose of demonstrating the feasibility of fusion power. ITER Korea, the implementing agency for the Republic of Korea that is procuring items for the ITER project on behalf of the Korean government, has established domestic and international contracts for the procurement of cable-in-conduit conductor (CICC) that will be used in the ITER toroidal field (TF) magnets. The CICC for the ITER TF magnets is made of superconducting Nb3Sn and copper strand cable inside a cylindrical stainless steel jacket, and is designed to operate at a nominal peak field of 11.8 T at 4.5 K with 68 kA of nominal operating current. Recently, the first CICC from Korea, which will be installed in an ITER TF magnet, has been manufactured and tested including testing performed on a 4 m sample near ITER operating conditions at the CRPP-EPFL SULTAN facility in Villigen, Switzerland under the coordination of the ITER International Organization. This paper provides a brief description of the CICC along with preliminary results of the tests and the conductor performance characteristics derived from the results.

Two identical conductor samples were fabricated from 110 m length cable prepared for qualification of the manufacturing process for Phase II procurement of ITER TF conductor. Superconducting strand characteristics, cabling specifications, and the stainless steel jacket sections are described. Sample assembly and instrumentation of various voltage taps and temperature sensors have been prepared according to specified procedures for conductor performance qualification. The performance test program which was agreed to by the SULTAN working group was applied to the conductor samples. To assess the current sharing temperature (T-cs), standard analysis procedures were adopted. The T-cs of both samples at 68 kA with a background field of 10.78 T after a 1000 cyclic load are well above the acceptance criteria. Behavior of individual "star" voltage taps which are located at different positions and which are possible origins of rather large discrepancies in the T-cs of identical samples is discussed. The effective strain and the transition index of the samples are obtained from the experimental data.

As a way to improve performance of ITER TF conductors, two types of cable-in-conduit conductors were developed in Korea with variations of conduit thickness resulting in the different void fraction of the conductors. The estimated void fractions of the conductors are 31% and 33%. Here we report the details of the TF conductor development and the performance test result of them carried out in SULTAN. Regarding the conductor development, the internal-Sn-processed strand characteristics, strand cabling, twist pitch and characteristics of the conduits for the conductors are presented. For an extended understanding of the conductor design and performance, the SULTAN test results are presented and the effect of the void fraction variations is discussed based on the results.
