In this study, coupons with contactless supports were prepared from CoCr alloy powders via Direct Metal Laser Melting (DMLM) printing method. The aim of this study is to understand the effect of different parameters on the topography and microstructural properties of the downface surface of the main part, where the interaction takes place with the contactless support. Different type of contactless support samples was printed as a function of gap distance. Angles with respect to x-axis of the cylindric part downfaces was 45��. Besides, gap distances between the cylindric part and support were designated as 150, 250 and 300 ��m, respectively. Several characterizations were performed to understand the effect of gap distance on the downface surface of the main part. Arithmetic mean heights of the samples (which is an extension of average roughness) of the printed samples were measured by an optical profilometer. Besides, microhardness of the samples was measured by a Vickers microhardness tester. Optical microscope analysis was performed on the printed parts to investigate the sub-surface porosities and surface topology. Results showed that integration of the contactless supports have a positive effect on decreasing surface roughness. Background As lenalidomide becomes increasingly established for upfront treatment of multiple myeloma, patients refractory to this drug represent a population with an unmet need. The combination of pomalidomide, bortezomib, and dexamethasone has shown promising results in phase 1/2 trials of patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of this triplet regimen in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma who previously received lenalidomide. Methods We did a randomised, open-label, phase 3 trial at 133 hospitals and research centres in 21 countries. We enrolled patients (aged >= 18 years) with a diagnosis of multiple myeloma and measurable disease, an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0-2, who received one to three previous regimens, including a lenalidomide-containing regimen for at least two consecutive cycles. We randomly assigned patients (1:1) to bortezomib and dexamethasone with or without pomalidomide using a permutated blocked design in blocks of four, stratified according to age, number of previous regimens, and concentration of beta(2) microglobulin at screening. Bortezomib (1.3 mg/m(2)) was administered intravenously until protocol amendment 1 then either intravenously or subcutaneously on days 1,4, 8, and 11 for the first eight cycles and subsequently on days 1 and 8. Dexamethasone (20 mg [10 mg if age >75 years]) was administered orally on the same days as bortezomib and the day after. Patients allocated pomalidomide received 4 mg orally on days 1-14. Treatment cycles were every 21 days. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival in the intention-to-treat population, as assessed by an independent review committee. Safety was assessed in all patients who received at least one dose of study medication. This trial is registered at ClinicalTrials.gov, number NCT01734928; patients are no longer being enrolled. Classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) is considered a curable disease; however, in approximately one-third of the responding patients, the disease relapses following completion of therapy. One of the drugs that have been approved for the treatment of relapsed/refractory cHL is nivolumab, an immune check point inhibitor that shows its effects by blocking the programmed death 1 (PD-1) receptor. In this study, we present a retrospective "real-life" analysis of the usage of nivolumab in patients with relapsed/refractory cHL that have joined the named patient program (NPP) for nivolumab, reflecting 4 years of experience in the treatment of relapsed/refractory cHL. We present a retrospective analysis of 87 patients (median age, 30) that participated in the NPP in 24 different centers, who had relapsed/refractory cHL and were consequently treated with nivolumab. The median follow-up was 29 months, and the median number of previous treatments was 5 (2-11). In this study, the best overall response rate was 70% (CR, 36%; PR, 34%). Twenty-eight of the responding patients underwent subsequent stem cell transplantation (SCT). Among 15 patients receiving allogeneic stem cell transplantation, 9 patients underwent transplantation with objective response, of which 8 of them are currently alive with ongoing response. At the time of analysis, 23 patients remained on nivolumab treatment and the rest discontinued therapy. The main reason for discontinuing nivolumab was disease progression (n = 23). The safety profile was acceptable, with only nine patients requiring cessation of nivolumab due to serious adverse events. The 24-month progression-free and overall survival rates were 58.5% (95% CI, 0.47-0.68) and 78.7% (95% CI, 0.68-0.86), respectively. Eighteen patients died during the follow-up and only one of these was regarded to be treatment-related. With its efficacy and its safety profile, PD-1 blockers became an important treatment option in the heavily pretreated cHL patients. The present study investigated the efficacy and safety profile of daratumumab monotherapy in 42 patients with relapsed refractory multiple myeloma through a Turkish early access program. The current findings have confirmed the efficacy of daratumumab monotherapy in heavily pretreated patients with refractory multiple myeloma because of the deep and durable responses and favorable safety and tolerability profile. Background: In countries where frontline drug approval is limited to first-generation proteasome inhibitors or immunomodulatory drugs, relapses have been both more frequent and less durable. We investigated real world data on the efficacy and safety of daratumumab monotherapy among patients with relapsed refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) from Turkey using a prospective early access program. Patients and Methods: A total of 42 patients with RRMM after a minimum of 3 previous lines of proteasome inhibitor/immunomodulatory drug-based treatments were included from 25 centers across Turkey. Daratumumab monotherapy was administered intravenously at a dose of 16 mg/kg weekly (cycles 1-2), on alternate weeks (cycles 3-6), and monthly thereafter. Results: The median daratumumab monotherapy duration was 5.5 months (range, 0.2-28.7 months). The overall response rate was 45.2%, including 14 (33.3%) partial responses, 4 (9.5%) very good partial responses, and 1 (2.4%) complete response. The median duration of response was 4.9 months. The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 5.5 (95% confidence interval, 2.6-8.4 months) with 12- and 18-month PFS rates of 35.7% and 31.0%, respectively. The median overall survival was not reached; the 12- and 18-month overall survival rates were 64.3% and 59.5%, respectively. The depth of response had a significant effect on PFS (log-rank test, P = .026). Overall, of the 76 adverse events reported, 33 (43.4%) were grade >= 3; only 4 (9.52%) were grade 3 infusion-related reactions. No infusion-related reactions or adverse events led to treatment discontinuation. Conclusion: The present findings from our daratumumab early access program have confirmed the efficacy and safety profile of daratumumab monotherapy in heavily pretreated Turkish patients with RRMM. Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is used to treat more than 60 diseases worldwide and has drawn growing interest. Little is known about the current situation of TPE activity in Turkey, so we developed a survey to obtain information about this timely topic. We collected data on TPE from 28 apheresis units throughout Turkey. We performed a total of 24,912 TPE procedures with 3203 patients over the past decade. Twenty years ago, the majority of procedures were performed for neurological and hematological disorders, and today, most TPE procedures are done for the same reasons. The only historical change has been an increase in TPE procedures in renal conditions. Currently, renal conditions were more frequently an indication for TPE than rheumatic conditions. Fresh frozen plasma was the most frequently used replacement fluid, followed by 5% albumin, used in 57.9% and 34.6% of procedures, respectively. The most frequently used anticoagulants in TPE were ACD-A and heparin/ACD-A, used with 1671 (52.2%) and 1164 (36.4%) patients, respectively. The frequency of adverse events (AEs) was 12.6%. The most common AEs were hypocalcemia-related symptoms, hypotension, and urticaria. We encountered no severe AEs that led to severe morbidity and mortality. Overall, more than two thirds of the patients showed improvement in the underlying disease. Here, we report on a nationwide survey on TPE activity in Turkey. We conclude that there has been a great increase in apheresis science, and the number of TPE procedures conducted in Turkey has increased steadily over time. Finally, we would like to point out that our past experiences and published international guidelines were the most important tools in gaining expertise regarding TPE. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

Background: Maintenance therapy following autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) can delay disease progression and prolong survival in patients with multiple myeloma. Ixazomib is ideally suited for maintenance therapy given its convenient once-weekly oral dosing and low toxicity profile. In this study, we aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of ixazomib as maintenance therapy following ASCT. Methods: The phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled TOURMALINE-MM3 study took place in 167 clinical or hospital sites in 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and North and South America. Eligible participants were adults with a confirmed diagnosis of symptomatic multiple myeloma according to International Myeloma Working Group criteria who had achieved at least a partial response after undergoing standard-of-care induction therapy followed by high-dose melphalan (200 mg/m2) conditioning and single ASCT within 12 months of diagnosis. Patients were randomly assigned in a 3:2 ratio to oral ixazomib or matching placebo on days 1, 8, and 15 in 28-day cycles for 2 years following induction, high-dose therapy, and transplantation. The initial 3 mg dose was increased to 4 mg from cycle 5 if tolerated during cycles 1–4. Randomisation was stratified by induction regimen, pre-induction disease stage, and response post-transplantation. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS) by intention-to-treat analysis. Safety was assessed in all patients who received at least one dose of ixazomib or placebo, according to treatment actually received. This trial is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, number NCT02181413, and follow-up is ongoing. Findings: Between July 31, 2014, and March 14, 2016, 656 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to receive ixazomib maintenance therapy (n=395) or placebo (n=261). With a median follow-up of 31 months (IQR 27·3–35·7), we observed a 28% reduction in the risk of progression or death with ixazomib versus placebo (median PFS 26·5 months [95% CI 23·7–33·8] vs 21·3 months [18·0–24·7]; hazard ratio 0·72, 95% CI 0·58–0·89; p=0·0023). No increase in second malignancies was noted with ixazomib therapy (12 [3%] patients) compared with placebo (eight [3%] patients) at the time of this analysis. 108 (27%) of 394 patients in the ixazomib group and 51 (20%) of 259 patients in the placebo group experienced serious adverse events. During the treatment period, one patient died in the ixazomib group and none died in the placebo group. Interpretation: Ixazomib maintenance prolongs PFS and represents an additional option for post-transplant maintenance therapy in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma. Two ONNO-type Schiff bases, bis-N,N'-(salicylidene)-1,3-diaminopropane and bis-N,N'-(2-hydroxyacetophenylidene)-1,3-propanediamine, were reduced using NaBH4 and converted to two phenol-amine-type tetradentate ligands, bis-N,N'-(2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,3-diaminopropane ((LH2)-H-H) and bis-N,N'-[1(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]-1,3-diaminopropane (LAC(H)H(2)). These ligands were used to prepare two Ni-II-Cd-II heterodinuclear complexes, namely [DMF center dot NiLH center dot CdI2 center dot DMF] and [DMF center dot NiLAC(H)center dot CdBr2 center dot DMF] in DMF medium. The molecular structure and unit cells of these complexes have been elucidated by the use of X-ray diffraction data. The thermogravimetric analysis of the compounds revealed that as the temperature is increased, the first coordinative DMF molecule was removed from the structure followed by a second coordinative DMF molecule with the complete decomposition of the complex. The activation energies and Arrhenius pre-exponential factor of these thermal reactions were determined by the use of isothermal Coats-Redfern, nonisothermal Ozawa-Flynn-Wall and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose methods. The results obtained for the first thermal reaction were similar since the structure of both complexes remained intact during this process. Also, the theoretical calculations of the bond lengths, bond angles and natural bond orbital analysis of both complexes were carried out using the algorithms embedded in Gaussian 09 software.

17th International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference, SGEM 2017 --29 June 2017 through 5 July 2017 -- --130787 The main purpose of this paper is to investigate of the Niğde Fault zone, which passes through the city of Niğde. The study area located in the south and eastern part of the Niğde Province, and crops out different types of geological units from Paleozoic to Cenozoic in that vicinity. These units are, from old to young, metamorphic rocks, which is known as Niğde Massif composed of Gümüşler, Kaleboynu, Aşıgediği formations, Üçkapılı granodiorite (Paleozoic to Mesozoic), Kızılkaya Ignimbrite (Upper Miocene to Pliocene), Karataş Volcanites (Middle Pleistocene), Quaternary fluvial sediments, talus and alluvium. The tectonics, basin development, volcanism and geomorphology of the Central Anatolia are largely under the control of three dominant faults. These are the NW-SE trending and strike slip Tuzgölü Fault, NNE to SSW trending and left lateral strike-slip Ecemiş Fault and NE to SW trending dip slip Niğde Fault. In order to obtain concrete geological information related to this fault, electric resistivity and self-potential (SP) measurements made 50 m interval on two profile, which was out the fault line vertically. SP and Electrical resistivity measurements made in 76 points along the first profile, 49 points along the second profile where located at SW and NE of the Niğde, separately. High Electrical resistivity and SP values were recorded at 10, 40, 45 points in the first profile and 11, 27 and 47 points in the second profile. These points are evaluated as an important finding of the existence of discontinuities of the Niğde Fault Zone, which is covered by young sediments. It is understood from the Electrical resistivity and SP data that the Niğde Fault Zone consisting of at least three segments (S1, S2, S3). The distance from the segment (S1), which is located in the South, to the NW margin of the Nigde Massif varies from 750 to 2500 m. These segments are parallel to each other extend in NE-SW direction. The NW edge of the massif is the fault scarp, which was retrograde towards to SE direction, in the Middle Miocene-Early Pliocene time. The presence of thick talus on the NW side of this fault zone supports this idea. © SGEM2017. All Rights Reserved.
