Bullous haemorrhagic dermatosis (BHD), a distinctive non-immune cutaneous eruption, manifests as the formation of haemorrhagic bullae on the skin. While it is an uncommon dermatologic entity, its clinical significance is underscored by its association with various medications, including anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents, as well as chemotherapeutic drugs. Clinical or pathological signs of inflammation are usually absent. The pathophysiology of BHD involves the disruption of normal skin integrity, leading to the development of bullae containing blood. These bullae typically appear at sites distant from the initial lesion or injection site, posing challenges in diagnosis and management. In the present work, the microstructure, tensile and texture properties of Zircalloy-2 (Zr-2) processed by the room temperature wire rolling (RTWR) have been investigated. The detail microstructural investigation was performed with the help of optical microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Electron Back Scattered Diffraction (EBSD). Dislocation density was calculated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) through modified Williamson Hall technique. The dislocation density increased as the true strain increased from 0.69 to 1.32, but at the same time when true strain increased from 1.32 to 2.77, dislocations density start decreasing. It was occurred due to the formation of large volume fraction of dynamic recrystallization grains (DRX) after inducing true strain of 2.77. The maximum yield strength of 750 MPa was achieved after true strain of 1.32, but as the induced true strain increased to 2.77, the yield strength decreased to 620 MPa. It was due to the formation of high volume fraction of DRX grain and grain coarsening led by the dislocations annihilation mechanism. The highest ductility was achieved after true strain of 2.77 is attributed to domination of dislocations annihilation assisted mechanism. The EBSD and tensile test investigation further confirmed the presence of Extension twinning ({101¯2}) after inducing a true strain of 1.32 and more, which signify the severe deformation through the RTWR. Further, deformation mechanism of Zr-2 alloy has been proposed through processing by RTWR with the help of experimental investigation.

Light quality (spectral arrangement) and quantity (photoperiod and intensity) influence plant growth and metabolism and also interact with several factors including environmental parameters in defining the plant behavior. The Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights are extensively utilized in the cultivation of several plant species, especially horticultural plants due to their lower power consumption and higher luminous efficiency compared to the conventional fluorescent lights. The aim of this review paper is to examine the potential of LED technology as it relates to plant lighting in greenhouses and other horticultural environments. It also desires to give an in-depth study of the advantages of LED lighting on plant development, yield, the production of secondary metabolites, and defense mechanisms. Horticultural lighting might undergo a revolution because LEDs are used in solid-state lighting, which would be a tremendous advancement after decades of research. LEDs may be used in a variety of horticulture lighting applications, such as tissue culture lighting, controlled environment research lighting, supplementary lighting, and photoperiod lighting for greenhouses. The primary impacts of light colors on plant performance are shown by the spectrum effects of LEDs as an independent source of light, together with the diverse sensitivity of many plant species and alternatives. LED light influences performance of enzyme, gene expression, cell wall formation, plant defense and postharvest quality. The spectrum reactions are mediated by the ambient lighting in a greenhouse, which also indicates a strong relationship between the additional supplementary lighting and changing environmental factors. LEDs are growing further to become cost-effective for even large-scale horticulture lighting applications as light output increases and device expenditures decrease.

AbstractThe panicle architecture is a critical determinant of the reproductive success of rice plants and has a direct impact on grain production. In this study, we evaluated the genetic variation of panicle parameters in fifteen rice genotypes and compared them with five commonly grown cultivars in the study area to assess their potential for crop improvement initiatives. The selection of the 15 genotypes was based on specific criteria, including diversity in origin, grain type, and adaptation to local conditions. Significant morphological variations were observed among the rice accessions for panicle parameters, including panicle length, weight, test weight, panicle number, grains/panicle, chaffs/panicle, and flag leaf area. Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the first two axes explained 59.8% of the total variance, indicating substantial variability in panicle features across the genotypes. Panicle length, panicle weight, and flag leaf area were identified as significant variables contributing to phenotypic variation. Multiple correlation analysis indicated that panicle weight was strongly positively correlated with panicle length, flagleaf area, grains/panicle, and test weight but was negatively correlated with panicle number, chaffs/panicle, and panicle angle. Genetic advance as a percentage of the mean (GAM) ranged from 7.226% for panicle number to 70.728% for chaffs/panicle. Traits such as grain/panicle, panicle length, flag leaf area, chaffs/panicle, and test weight exhibited high GAM and heritability, highlighting their significance for selection during crop improvement. Certain rice accessions, namely SVIN123, IR106523-25-34-3-2-13-1-2, Radha-13, and IR15L17315, demonstrated superior panicle weight, larger grains/panicle, and panicle length, making them attractive candidates for future rice breeding projects.

Tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium orygis was detected in 2 spotted deer from a wildlife sanctuary in western India and an Indian bison from a national park in central India. Nationwide surveillance is urgently required to clarify the epidemiology of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex at the human–livestock–wildlife interface.

Background: A characteristic feature of the cervical vertebrae (C1–C7) is the presence of a foramen tranversarium on the transverse process. The cervical vertebrae are the smallest in size as compared to the thoracic and lumbar vertebrae and are characterized by a foramen in each transverse process, which is not found in any other vertebra. Except for the seventh cervical vertebra, which transmits only the vertebral vein, this foramen transmits the vertebral artery, vein, and sympathetic nerves (a branch from the cervicothoracic ganglion) in all cervical vertebrae. Any deviation in the development of the foramen transversarium (FT) causes changes in the course, relationships, and structure (stenosis and lumen narrowing) of the vertebral artery and its associated structures. Aims and Objectives: The aims of this study were to establish the location, shape, size, and incidence of accessory FT in dry human cervical vertebrae of Eastern Indian population. Materials and Methods: An observational cross-sectional study was conducted on 170 dry cervical vertebrae (Typical-123 and Atypical-47) of unknown sex and age after getting approval from the Institutional Ethics Committee. Introduction: Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is a common infection of the nervous system caused by ingestion of Tenia solium eggs in undercooked pork or contaminated water. Most children present with seizures particularly focal seizures with or without signs of raised intracranial pressure (ICP). Diagnosis is made by computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (CT/MRI) scan which shows single/multiple ring-enhancing lesions with perilesional edema. Management involves the use of anticonvulsants for seizures and steroids for edema. Objective: To establish a clinical profile of NCC patient in pediatric age groups. Material and Methods: The Department of Pediatric Neurology at our institute conducted a retrospective study of 15 children with ring-enhancing lesions on MRI who were managed at this centre. The observations were further analyzed. Results: Nearly 14 children presented with seizures, 50% of these children also showed signs of raised ICP. Only 1 child had presented with signs of raised ICP. All the children were treated with anti-cysticidal, anti-epileptic with pre-treatment steroids. At 6 months all children were seizure-free. Conclusion: NCC should be ruled out in children presenting with focal seizures, especially in a country like India where the disease is endemic. Apart from antiepileptics, anthelmintic – Albendazole and Praziquantel are very effective against NCC with pre-treatment with corticosteroids and have been very effective in managing the disease.

Soil fertilizers have the potential to significantly increase crop yields and improve plant health by providing essential nutrients to the soil. The use of fertilizers can also help to improve soil structure and fertility, leading to more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems. However, overuse or improper use of fertilizers can lead to soil degradation, which can reduce soil fertility, decrease crop yields, and damage ecosystems. Thus, several attempts have been made to overcome the issues related to the drawbacks of fertilizers, including the development of an advanced fertilizer delivery system. Biopolymer aerogels show promise as an innovative solution to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of soil-fertilizer delivery systems. Further research and development in this area could lead to the widespread adoption of biopolymer aerogels in agriculture, promoting sustainable farming practices and helping to address global food-security challenges. This review discusses for the first time the potential of biopolymer-based aerogels in soil-fertilizer delivery, going through the types of soil fertilizer and the advert health and environmental effects of overuse or misuse of soil fertilizers. Different types of biopolymer-based aerogels were discussed in terms of their potential in fertilizer delivery and, finally, the review addresses the challenges and future directions of biopolymer aerogels in soil-fertilizer delivery.

Background: The ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) which was caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has led to efforts from the medical and scientific community in understanding the biological basis of COVID-19 pathophysiological mechanisms. Thus, analysis of various hematological and immunological parameters may be helpful for COVID-19 infection evaluation for risks involved and effectiveness in management. Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze the role of various hematological and immunological parameters in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. Materials and Methods: This retrospective analysis was performed on 300 patients who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by quantitative reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction analysis. All participants of the study were divided into – (a) Group I: patients with mild symptoms and normal chest radiographic findings; (b) patients with moderate disease presenting with fever and cough along with other respiratory symptoms, and (c) patients suffering from severe disease. Data collection was done from all patients at the time of hospital admission for hematological and immunological parameters – (a) total leukocyte count, (b) lymphocyte count, (c) lymphocytic subset count, (d) lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, (e) D-dimer, (f) C-reactive protein (CRP), and (g) ferritin levels. SPSS 22.0 software was used for determining P values by independent t-test and Chi-square test. Results: The median age was 65 years (interquartile range –57–71 years). While comparing white blood cell and lymphocyte counts, extremely significant P values were obtained. D-dimers and ferritin levels demonstrated extremely significant P values while both LDH and CRPs showed statistical significance. Correlation of lymphocytic subsets showed extreme significance in total lymphocyte counts in mild-to-moderate as compared to severely infected patients while both CD4+ and CD8+ counts demonstrated statistical significance in mild-moderate infected cases. Statistical significance was noted in D-dimer, CRP, and LDH levels also. Conclusion: Assessment of hematological and immunological parameters can be used to plan the management of COVID-19 patients.

Background: Periodontal diseases are a group of inflammatory diseases causing alveolar bone loss and eventually leading to loss of teeth. The present study was evaluated the effectiveness of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in the treatment of intrabony defects with or without bone graft. Materials and Methods: Thirty subjects with the presence of intrabony defects were enrolled. All subjects were included irrespective of age and gender. A questionnaire was prepared for extracting demographic and personal details of all the patients. William probe and moth mirror-tweezers set was used for carrying out clinical examination of all subjects. Random and unbiased division of all the subjects was done with ten patients in each group as follows: Group I: Subjects in which treatment was carried out using PRF with demineralized bone matrix, Group II: Subjects in which treatment was carried out using PRF alone, and Group III: Subjects in which treatment was carried in the form of open flap debridement (OFD). Pretreatment and posttreatment clinical variables were assessed which included plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing depth (PD), relative attachment level (RAL), and gingival recession (GR) were assessed at baseline and 9 months postoperatively were calculated. Results: Mean PI among Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 at baseline was 0.78, 0.8, and 0.84, respectively. Mean PI among Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 at 9 months follow-up was 0.56, 0.55, and 0.72, respectively. Significant results were obtained while comparing the PI among the three study groups at follow-up. Mean GI among Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 at baseline was 0.78, 0.8, and 0.84, respectively. Mean GI among Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 at 9 months follow-up was 0.56, 0.55, and 0.72, respectively. Significant results were obtained while comparing the GI among the three study groups at follow-up. Significant difference was seen in PD, RAL, and GR from baseline to 9 months in all groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: PRF leads to significantly better improvement in the clinical parameters on follow-up in comparison to OFD alone in patients with the presence of intrabony defects.

Background: Implant dentistry has seen rapid and remarkable progress in recent years. The present study assessed the survival of a single implant-supported cantilever prosthesis (ISCP) in the anterior mandible. Materials and Methods: Sixty-four patients with missing mandibular anterior teeth of both genders were provided with a single implant and restored with cantilever screw-retained prosthesis. All were followed for 2.5 years for the implant and prosthetic success. Results: Age group of 20–30 years comprised 14 males and 10 females, 30–40 years had 10 males and eight females, 40–50 years had six males and seven females, and 50–60 years had four males and five females. The difference was nonsignificant (P > 0.05). A screw loosening was seen in total of 15 cases, in 1 at 12 months, 5 at 18 months, 2 at 24 months, and 7 at 30 months, and porcelain fracture was seen in total of eight cases, in 4 at 18 months, 1 at 24 months, and 3 at 30 months. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Screw-retained ISCP developed complications such as screw loosening and porcelain fracture.

Background: Dental implants have an important role in mainstream dental practice today to restore esthetics. The present study was conducted to evaluate the microleakage at implant abutment and prosthesis interface in cemented implant-supported prosthesis. Materials and Methods: The present study comprised sixty replicas of abutment analog with length 5 mm, width of platform 4.8 mm, and taper 6° which were milled and divided into three groups. In Group I, nickel–chromium copings were fabricated; marginal gap was evaluated with optical microscope and luted with zinc oxide noneugenol cement, Group II with zinc polycarboxylate cement, and Group III with zinc phosphate cement. Microleakage was scored by the method used by Tjan et al. Results: The mean microleakage score in Group I was 2.5, in Group II was 1.9, and in Group III was 1.05. The difference was significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: All cements showed microleakage. Minimum microleakage was seen with zinc phosphate cement than zinc oxide noneugenol cement and zinc polycarboxylate cement.

In this study, the hardness and surface roughness of selective laser-melted parts have been evaluated by considering a wide variety of input parameters. The Invar-36 has been considered a workpiece material that is mainly used in the aerospace industry for making parts as well as widely used in bimetallic thermostats. It is the mechanical properties and metallurgical properties of parts that drive the final product’s quality in today’s competitive marketplace. The study aims to examine how laser power, scanning speed, and orientation influence fabricated specimens. Using ANOVA, the established models were tested and the parameters were evaluated for their significance in predicting response. In the next step, the fuzzy-based JAYA algorithm has been implemented to determine which parameter is optimal in the proposed study. In addition, the optimal parametric combination obtained by the JAYA algorithm was compared with the optimal parametric combination obtained by TLBO and genetic algorithm (GA) to establish the effectiveness of the JAYA algorithm. Based on the results, an orientation of 90°, 136 KW of laser power, and 650 mm/s scanning speed were found to be the best combination of process parameters for generating the desired hardness and roughness for the Invar-36 material.

Environmental and human-friendly welding is the need of the hour. In this context, this study explores the application of the regulated metal deposition (RMD) technique for ASTM A387-Gr.11-Cl.2 steel plates. To examine the effect of metal-cored filler wire (MCFW), MEGAFIL 237 M was employed during regulated metal deposition (RMD) welding of 6 mm thick ASTM A387-Gr.11-Cl.2 steel plates. The welding was carried out at an optimized current (A) of 100 A, voltage (V) of 13 V, and gas flow rate (GFR) of 21 L/min. Thereafter, the as-welded plates were examined for morphological changes using optical microscopy. Additionally, the micro-hardness of the as-welded plates was measured to make corroboration with the obtained surface morphologies. In addition to this, the as-welded plates were subjected to heat treatment followed by surface morphology and micro-hardness examination. A comparison was made between the as-welded and heat-treated plates for their obtained surface morphologies and microhardness values. During this, it was observed that the weld zone of as-welded plates has a dendritic surface morphology which is very common in fusion-based welding. Similarly, the weld zone of heat-treated plates has a finer and erratic arrangement of martensite. Moreover, the obtained surface morphologies in the weld zone of as-welded and heat-treated plates have been justified by their respective hardness values of 1588.6 HV and 227.3 HV.

Paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) refers to retinal lesions with changes in the inner nuclear layer on spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT). PAMM is associated with retinal vascular pathology involving the deep capillary plexus. We report two cases of PAMM in Indian subjects using multimodal imaging highlighting the OCT angiography (OCTA) findings. The first case is of a middle-aged female with a paracentral scotoma with SS-OCT (swept-source optical coherence tomography) and OCTA findings suggestive of “chronic” PAMM. The second case presented with sudden decreased vision, and multiple creamy white lesions suggestive of “acute” PAMM, imaging features depicting a possible venular obstruction. These cases demonstrate the importance of considering PAMM as a differential diagnosis in patient presenting with nonspecific visual complains and apparently normal ophthalmic examination. The recognition of PAMM should prompt an appropriate evaluation and investigation.

The higher phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation (PCV and GCV) were observed for yield‐related traits, including grains per panicle (GP), straw yield (SY), harvest index (HI), days to flowering (DF), and test weight (TW). Higher genetic advance as a percentage of the mean (GAM) and higher heritability (hb2) for each attribute indicated nonadditive gene activity and highlighted that selection would likely be successful. According to the correlation analysis, selection based on days to maturity (DM), TW, HI, tiller per m2 (TM), and effective tiller per hill (ETH) will be beneficial for raising rice GY. The results of PCA and PC indicated that the direct selection of DM, ETH, TW, and HI would be productive in improving the GY of rice in future breeding projects. The results of the cluster analysis divided the 20 rice genotypes into seven groups, with Cluster VII with genotype Swarna Sub‐1 for GY and HI; Cluster I with genotypes NR2188‐13‐5‐2‐5‐1, Radha‐13, and Bas Dhan for PH and SY; Cluster VI with genotypes NR2187‐33‐1‐2‐1‐1‐1 and Ranjeet for DF and DM; and Cluster V with genotypes NR2182‐33‐3‐2‐1‐1‐1 and NR2192‐16‐1‐1‐1‐1 for TM and PL being chosen as the best ones. Upon confirmation, these genotypes can be recommended for commercial release or used as prospective breeding material in cross‐breeding initiatives aimed at producing cultivars possessing desirable homogeneous features. The use of both organic and inorganic fertilizers plays a crucial role in farming practices in Nepal, depending on their availability. Applying fertilizers like compost, vermicompost, goat manure, and NPK has shown significant effects on various aspects of plant growth and yield. This study was conducted in Diktel, Khotang district of Nepal, from March 14th to June 7th, 2023, aiming to evaluate how different organic and inorganic sources affect the growth and yield of beetroot (Beta vulgaris L.). The experiment followed a one-factor randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications, involving five treatments: T1: 100% Compost manure, T2: 100% Vermicompost, T3: 100% Goat manure, T4: 100% NPK, and T5: Control. The results clearly showed that both vegetative and reproductive traits were significantly varies among several treatments utilized in the experiments at 0.1% level of significance. Compost application consistently showed better results across most growth and yield parameters assessed. Growth parameters included plant height, leaf count per plant, leaf length, and leaf width, while yield parameters included beetroot diameter, beetroot length, root yield, and leaf yield. Organic compost manure particularly stood out, displaying significantly larger beetroot diameter (4.85 cm) and greater beetroot length (9.3 cm). Additionally, compost manure led to notably increased root yield (13.95 t/ha) compared to the control treatment, which recorded a lower root yield (6.28 t/ha). Overall, all treatments outperformed the control in terms of growth and yield parameters. These findings suggest that organic compost manure is the most favorable choice for achieving high-quality beetroot production in the hilly regions of Nepal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
