The number of road maintenance operations in China is increasing. Work zones can interfere with everyday driving and bring significant safety hazards to the throughput vehicles and construction personnel. However, there is currently a lack of effective methods to conduct a dynamic risk assessment of work zones and provide control guidance when necessary. Therefore, this study proposes a dynamic risk assessment and control framework for the work zones. The framework adopts a closed-loop control and dynamic monitoring architecture. A massive amount of microscopic data on vehicles' behavior is obtained based on advanced data collection technologies (including multicamera multiobject tracking, naturalistic driving, and microscopic traffic simulation). Traffic conflicts between single vehicle and two- or multivehicle are detected using vehicle behavior analyzing technology and the surrogate safety assessment model. A comprehensive assessment index, i.e., UTECN (unit total equivalent conflict number), is established that can consider the severity and possibility of accidents caused by conflicts based on the vehicle collision energy theory, probability theory, and risk management theory. A risk assessment standard is established based on the level of safety service. The framework is first implemented in a simulation environment, and its feasibility and effectiveness are verified by taking a work zone of Shanghai Waihuan Expressway S20 as a case study. The result shows that the framework has good practicality. Under a moderate traffic level, the risk of the work zone can be assessed within 20minutes. Simple Summary: This study investigated the resistance of Hibiscus mutabilis varieties to the whitefly Bemisia tabaci. It identified the highly resistant variety Jinqiusong (JQS) and moderately resistant Bairihuacai (BRHC), which showed significantly lower B. tabaci populations than the susceptible variety Chongbanbai (CBB). Metabolomic analysis revealed that fifteen key metabolites are linked to resistance, with the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway being critical in defense. Additionally, volatile compounds emitted by the resistant varieties deterred the pest's behavior. The findings offer a theoretical basis for breeding insect-resistant H. mutabilis varieties, providing a sustainable strategy for managing B. tabaci infestations. Hibiscus mutabilis, the city flower of Chengdu, is culturally significant and has nutritional and medicinal benefits. However, frequent infestations of Bemisia tabaci have caused economic losses. This study aimed to identify insect-resistant H. mutabilis varieties. Over two years, varieties like Jinqiusong, Zuiyun, and Zuifurong showed moderate to high resistance based on reproductive indices. Assessments of antixenosis and developmental impacts revealed that adult B. tabaci exhibited low selectivity toward these resistant varieties, indicating a strong repellent effect. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis identified volatile organic compounds, such as alcohols, alkanes, and terpenes. Notably, 2-ethylhexanol and 6-methylheptanol exhibited repellent properties. Using nontargeted metabolomics, this study compared the metabolite profiles of the insect-resistant variety Jinqiusong (JQS), moderately resistant Bairihuacai (BRHC), and highly susceptible Chongbanbai (CBB) post B. tabaci infestation. With the continuous increase of the spraying area, the problem of droplet drift risk in the spraying process of UAV is becoming increasingly prominent, especially the herbicide drift. In order to clarify the effect of the herbicide solution on the droplet size and the deposition and drift distribution characteristics sprayed by UAVs, the droplet sizes of 15 herbicide solutions sprayed by the centrifugal rotary atomizer nozzle installed in the plant protection UAV were measured in the laboratory, and the distribution of droplet deposition and drift in the spraying area and drift area were measured by adding a fluorescent tracer (60 g/hm2) to the tank in the field. The results showed that the herbicide solution had a significant effect on the droplet size distribution. BACKGROUND: Effective utilization of plant protection UAVs in peanut cultivation management necessitates a comprehensive grasp of how application volume rates and pesticides influence peanut leaf spot and rust control. This study aimed to compare the effects of application volume rates and pesticides on droplet deposition, disease, leaf retention rate and peanut yield. A T20 plant protection unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sprayer was used to apply four various pesticide doses. In comparison, a knapsack sprayer was used to spray with an application volume rate of 450 L ha−1. RESULTS: The results showed a significant difference in droplet deposition between the plant protection UAVs and the electric knapsack sprayer. In the pesticide treatment with an application volume rate of 15.0 L ha−1, there was no significant difference in the deposition on the peanut canopy of each pesticide treatment, but there was a significant difference in the deposition on the ground in the treatment with adding vegetable oil adjuvant. The treatment with added vegetable oil additives showed the worst performance. The treatment with an application volume rate of 22.5 L ha−1 showed the best performance, with the leaf spot control effect being only 0.3% lower than that of the electric knapsack sprayer. CONCLUSION: Plant protection UAV spraying is feasible to control peanut diseases. Understanding the nutritional interplay among plants, pests, and natural enemies is essential for sustainable pest management. Enhancing the efficiency of natural enemies, such as Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor) (Acari: Phytoseiidae) is critical, and exploiting herbivore-induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) offers a promising approach. However, N. californicus has rarely been reported to utilize HIPVs to improve their biological control capabilities. Our research revealed a significant difference in the diversity of volatile compounds detected in clean Citrus reticulata Blanco leaves compared to those in C. reticulata leaves infested with Panonychus citri (McGregor) (Acari: Tetranychidae), regardless of mite presence. This suggests that P. citri infestation induces a wide array of HIPVs in C. reticulata leaves. We conducted olfactory behavioral assays to evaluate the response of N. californicus to synthetic HIPVs. Results revealed that linalool (1.00 mg/mL), 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (10.0 mg/mL), undecylcyclohexane (1.00 mg/mL), and (+)-dibenzoyl-L-tartaric anhydride (10.0 mg/mL) significantly attracted N. californicus while pentadecanal (1.00 mg/mL) significantly deterred it. A 3-component blend of linalool, undecylcyclohexane, and (+)-dibenzoyl-L-tartaric anhydride was better than other combinations in attracting N. californicus. This combination provided the basis for developing an attractant for N. californicus , facilitating the rate of its dispersal to enhance its biological control of pests. The accumulation and melting process of snow and ice contamination was simulated in an advanced environmental cabin. The pavement surface condition was monitored using the Vaisala mobile detector, and the friction coefficient between the tire and pavement was measured with the T2GO friction tester. The dynamic variation of the friction coefficient and its deterioration mechanism under various conditions were analyzed. Results show that after a thin ice layer develops on the surface of the coarse aggregate, the cohesion friction component decreases rapidly. Then, as the ice coverage widens, the hysteresis friction component decreases considerably. When the coverage rate of the ice layer reaches 100% and the thickness reaches 0.2–0.3 mm, the friction coefficient decreases to 0.2. In the process of snow accumulation, the friction coefficient is maintained at 0.43–0.45. As the snow layer is soft and easy to compact, the tire rubber can be embedded onto it; even if the thickness can sufficiently cover the macrotexture of the pavement, the hysteresis friction component can be maintained at a high level. Work zone crossover is an important area in highway reconstruction and expansion projects because it profoundly impacts the traffic safety and efficiency of the construction sites. This research sets the different median opening widths in the driving simulation experiment, collects the vehicle control signal parameters during entrance by-pass and exit by-pass, and analyzes the driving characteristics in these sections. Comparison of the driving features between the simulation experiment and the actual driving under the same median width has been also made. We should set the median width separately because the results show that driving behaviors significantly differ between entrance by-pass and exit by-pass. When the median opening width is 70m, the driving simulation experiment and actual driving characteristics are quite different. However, both show that driving factors of the entrance and exit by-pass are not the same. Plant protection drone spraying technology is widely used to prevent and control crop diseases and pests due to its advantages of being unaffected by crop growth patterns and terrain restrictions, high operational efficiency, and low labor requirements. The operational parameters of plant protection drones significantly impact the distribution of spray droplets, thereby affecting pesticide utilization. In this study, a field experiment was conducted to determine the working modes of two representative plant protection drones and an electric backpack sprayer as a control to explore the characteristics of droplet deposition with different spray volumes in the citrus canopy. The results showed that the spraying volume significantly affected the number of droplets and the spray coverage. The number of droplets and the spray coverage area on the leaf surface were significantly increased by increasing the spray volume from 60 L/ha to 120 L/ha in plant protection drones. Particularly for the DJI T30, the mid-lower canopy showed a spray coverage increase of 52.5%. The droplet density demonstrated the most significant variations in the lower inner canopy, ranging from 18.7 droplets/cm 2 to 41.7 droplets/cm 2 by XAG V40. From the deposition distribution on fruit trees, the plant protection drones exhibit good penetration ability, as the droplets can achieve a relatively even distribution in different canopy layers of citrus trees. The droplet distribution uniformity inside the canopy is similar for XAG V40 and DJI T30, with a variation coefficient of approximately 50%-100%. Compared to the plant protection drones, the knapsack electric sprayer is suitable for pest and disease control in the mid-lower canopy, but they face challenges of insufficient deposition capability in the upper canopy and overall poor spray uniformity.
