Excavations at 20SA1251 have yielded an assemblage of modified bone and antler artifacts including awls, beamers, points, turtle shell bowls, and other items. The Tanner Cache includes 27 Turkey-tail and bipointed bifaces recovered from the Coin Farm site (20MD45) in Midland County, Michigan. The cache, excavated in 1967 by members of the Michigan Archaeological Society, is composed of three distinct groups of bifaces, including bipointed, stemmed and notched forms. Their positions in the cache indicate that the bifaces were deposited into the cache pit as two separate lots, but during the same event. Excavations at site 20SA1251 have yielded Middle Woodland Period artifacts and subsistence remains. The AMS technique was used to obtain a date of 1960+/-40 BP (2 sigma cal. BC 40 to AD 120) on charred organic residues from a Green Point Incised, Crosshatched vessel from the site. The date is earlier than generally expected for Green Point ware ceramics in the Saginaw Valley, but is in agreement with dates recently reported for similar ceramic styles from west Michigan.
