The objective of the current study was to extract 2-(benzhydryl sulfinyl)-N-sec-butylacetamide), a novel compound from fig, and then determine its role in enhancing trastuzumab-triggered phagocytic killing of SKOV-3 cancer cells. In this study, Soxhlet was used to extract the compound from the mature and air-dried fig fruits. The production of the isolated extracts was enhanced by using polar and non-polar solvents. Several solvents, such as methanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and n-hexane, were used to isolate the effective compound 2-(benzhydryl sulfinyl)-N-sec-butylacetamide) from the organic layer. UV-spectroscopy, FT-IR, ¹HNMR, and 13C-NMR were applied to identify the purified compound. The in vitro and in vivo assays demonstrated that the 2-(benzhydryl sulfinyl)-N-sec-butylacetamide) can increase the activity of the phagocytic cells, via the interaction with Fcγ receptors, along with trastuzumab, and the pathway can use a model for the therapeutic strategy for effective treatment of ovarian cancer cells. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered as the fourth prevalent reason of cancer deaths. Interleukin 10 (IL10) and interleukin 17A (IL-17A) act as anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory cytokines, respectively, both being able to exert antitumor or pro-tumor roles in cancer. Serum levels for IL-10, IL-17A, and calcitriol were measured by ELISA. The CRC patient sample (n =90) consisted of newly diagnosed, before surgery, and after surgery groups, the results of which were compared with those of healthy subjects (n=30). IL-10 levels demonstrated significantly lower (P<0.001), significantly higher (P<0.001), and insignificant differences in the three groups, respectively, as compared to the control. Serum IL-17A levels were significantly higher (P<0.001) in all patient groups compared with healthy subjects, whereas calcitriol levels were significantly lower in most patients. In conclusion,low levels of IL-10 found in CRC patients at diagnosis could be used as a diagnostic marker for the disease. However, chemo-radiotherapy caused an increase in the levels of this cytokine, which were restored to normal following surgical intervention. In addition, a contribution of serum calcitriol in changing the levels of IL-10 in CRC patients was observed. Type 2 diabetes is associated with bad health consequences. The current study focused on the effect of Moringa olifera (MO) extract on some metabolic and biochemical parameters in induced type 2 diabetic albino rats. Twenty-eight albino male rats were selected and randomly divided into 4 groups. The control rats fed on a standard balanced diet and the second group fed standard balanced diet and gavaged with MO extract 50 mg/kg b.wt. The third group was a diabetic group that was induced to type 2 diabetes by high dietary fat for 8 weeks followed by streptozotocin (STZ) 25 mg/kg intraperitoneal (i.p.) while the fourth group was induced to type 2 diabetes and gavaged with MO extract 50 mg/kg b.wt. Treatment was continued for 4 weeks and, final body weight was recorded. Serum Lipid Profile, insulin resistance, super oxide dismutase (SOD), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), resistin and liver enzymes were determined. Histopathology to hepatic tissue was also done. Results revealed a significant reduction in final body weights of diabetic rats than control. Serum lipid profile was deteriorated in the diabetic group. Insulin resistance, TNF-α, resistin and liver enzymes were significantly upregulated (P<0.05) in the diabetic rats than control while SOD was significantly reduced (P<0.05). Liver histopathology showed diffuse hazy vacuolation with leukocytic infiltration in the diabetic group and estrogen receptor (ER) immunostaining was significantly declined in diabetic group. All these changes were ameliorated with MO extract administration to diabetic rats. MO extract has a potential preventive effect against metabolic and biochemical alterations of type 2 diabetes.
