Purpose: While exploring the information experience within multispecies families, the subjective nature of humans and non-human entities, living beings and non-living objects becomes evident. This paper aims to reveal the underlying significance of information within socio-physical living environments shared among humans, cats and dogs as companions. Design/methodology/approach: Gaining inspiration from the information experience approach and posthumanism, this is a phenomenological paper. Empirical material related to lived experiences of participating families were gathered through multispecies ethnography methods, followed by phenomenological reflections. The paper has been written based on excerpt-commentary-units and the inclusion of videos and images as an approach to convey the richness of the lived experiences and multiple perspectives. Findings: Findings are organised into three main sections, each capturing lived experiences of information and its utilization from various frames. The paper shows how living beings, both human and animal, use their physical, sensual and moving bodies to acquire and convey information to and from each other. Moving beyond the living beings, the study discusses how non-living objects in the physical environment of a multispecies family also shape information. Material objects, spatial locations and even plants became sources of information for the family members. Lastly, the paper delves into the social environment of the family, where all members, human and animal, are actively shaped by information within their social interactions and companionship. Originality/value: Considering information distributed across species and material objects in a shared, more-than-human environment, the article suggests implications for an information experience approach. It emphasizes how information shapes the in-between humans, animals and their environment, highlighting their reliance on each other for understanding and living a good shared life. There is a need for future research to explore the information experience within the internal subjective minds of members of multispecies families, bridging the gap in the understanding of these external information and their internal information processes. Background: Studies on information behaviour related to companion animal's (pet) health have been carried out in different contexts and there have been attempts to modify and idealize these information behaviours. Objective: The purpose of this study is to apply the Pet Health Information Behaviour Intervention model in an empirical context and elaborate the theoretical contribution of the model to information behaviour research in the context of pet care and management. Methods: All the variables of the proposed model were quantified and tested through case study research involving 20 participants. Each case consisted of a guardian who participated in the information intervention program with their cat(s) and/or dog(s) in a small animal hospital, with a follow‐up interview after 2 weeks. Results: The information prescription helped both the experienced Internet searchers and the less health literate guardians. The pet guardians were particularly appreciative of the advice on evaluating and using online health information. The higher guardian‐pet bond, the more the participant used the tips to search online information. The information prescription helped the relationship with the veterinary professional through improved data gathering and perception of the professional‐guardian partnership. Conclusion: The model will assist both information professionals and animal health providers to better design and evaluate information interventions that support pet welfare. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The transition of a companion animal and a human companion into a shared family context is an everyday yet complex process that involves information interactions. Concerned with the cognitive information that resides within humans’ and animals’ minds, this article aims to explore the knowings (having knowledge or awareness about something) of all multispecies family members. Building upon an information experience approach, the research process consisted of experiential material gathering with multispecies ethnography, followed by phenomenological reflections and writing. Findings are organised into three main sections: animal knowing, human knowing and their engaged knowing. The cognitive information presented in this study is sometimes unconventional, yet innovative within the field of Information Science. the article contributes to the cognitive view of information by showing how diverse information from both humans and animals interweaves to shape a harmonious understanding in everyday life and provides implications for information research, practice and design. Objective: The aim of this study is to introduce and enable research at the intersection of information behaviour studies and contemplative studies by proposing yoga as a research context in everyday life. Methodology: This conceptual paper builds on discussions of the everyday information behaviour, transcendental Information, and pleasure and profound in information science. First, contemplation is defined and discussed, along with the movement-based contemplative practices and embodiment approach. Next, yoga is proposed and explored as a contemplative practice in higher level of everyday life which consists embodied and transcendental information. Findings: Everyday life of people in their modern world involves deep aspects of human engagement with information not only for solving problems and survival, but also for pleasure and profound in daily life. Contemplative practices such as Yoga are examples of higher things in life which become more popular both in Iran and other parts of the world. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdowns and its psychological impacts the number of people who turned to yoga and online yoga is increasing. Yoga is a movement type of contemplative practice. The information or knowledge in this practice is different from what we have known as traditional definitions of information. Individuals find compassion, meaning, awareness and silence by doing yoga. It engages human body in many ways and changes the perception of human about the strength and functionality of the body. In all the yoga processes information can be involved. It involves various types of sensory, tactile and physical information that are acquired and interpreted, and used with the help of human sensory capacities (such as sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch) and in relation to other forms of information. There are many moving, stretching, and balancing through a series of postures, there are breath practices which are also embodied. The physical environment, such as music, mirrors, smells, or diversity of participants, their body size, age, gender, clothing, and movements, shape the information landscape of yoga practices. Embodiment is a new turn in information science which tries to bring the body into focus, as the way individuals experience information. When performing yoga, human receives tactile and audio information from the environment in which she/he is located and adjusts her/his body to prevent unnecessary movements and to perform the desired pose. Sometimes even seeing other people's movements and postures, feeling the pain in the muscles, hearing rhythm of the music or sounds of the nature, and feeling the temperature of breath can be sources of embodied information and sensual knowledge for the practitioner. Conclusion: This paper builds on discourse at the intersection of contemplative studies and information science, also connecting this with recent turn of embodiment in information behaviour studies. This study extends the literature on transcendental information behaviour, elaborate yogis' information experiences with an embodied perspective, and illustrate a relationship between information and contemplation. The kinds of embodied information employed by yoga practitioners might be recognized and appreciated more widely throughout society and opportunities for technological development and further research will be outlined. Introduction: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between pet owners' perceived health literacy skills (in finding, evaluating, and applying online pet health information) and using the information prescription (IP) provided by veterinarians about education on the internet. Methods: Thirty telephone interviews were conducted with pet owners approximately two weeks after completing a questionnaire of eHealth Literacy Scale (eHEALS) followed by an IP which was provided by veterinarians in addition to pet owners' customary veterinary services in a vet clinic at the center of Tehran, Iran. Qualitative and quantitative data were merged to explore differences and similarities among respondents with different eHealth literacy levels. Results: Results indicate that pet owners with a higher score of eHealth literacy more often accessed the suggested websites and reported positive feelings about this addition to their veterinary services. Similarly, among the 8- item self-reported eHealth Literacy skills list, perceived skills at evaluating and applying information were significantly associated with the use of IPs. Lastly, eHealth literacy level was significantly associated with the outcomes of prescribed information, such as veterinarian-client communication and learning outcomes. Conclusion: Disparities in the application of the veterinarian's IPs for online pet healthcare information, and its outcomes are associated with different eHealth literacy skills. Veterinarians should collaborate with information specialists and librarians to perform education efforts to raise awareness on online pet health information quality and the impact of veterinarian-directed information prescription, especially among pet owners with low health literacy.
