OBJECTIVE Burnout is a syndrome of emotional distress common in health-care professions. The aim of this study was to assess the potential levels of burnout syndrome among veterinarians in Spain as well as different factors involved in its prevalence. SAMPLE 282 Spanish veterinarians (57.4% women and 42.6% men). PROCEDURES All data were obtained through an online survey. The instrument utilized for this purpose was the Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Services Survey (adapted to a Spanish-speaking population), with analyses performed using statistical software. Moreover, a sociodemographic questionnaire was utilized. RESULTS Within the considered population, 23% suffered from burnout syndrome and the average scores were 29 points for emotional exhaustion, 14 points for depersonalization, and 35 points for personal accomplishment. A higher prevalence of burnout was associated with small animal clinicians (75.3%) and women (66.1%), in comparison to large animal clinicians (24.6%) and men (33.8%). CLINICAL RELEVANCE This study showed for the first time that burnout syndrome is a current and highly relevant risk for Spanish veterinarians. The results obtained could help to raise awareness of this reality and the factors involved in the development or exacerbation of this syndrome.

Breve reflexión acerca de la forma de producción de algunas obras históricas a las que todos hemos recurrido no pocas veces en la Universidad

El primer capítol comprèn la Memòria on s'hi pot trobar el Reconeixement Territorial i socioeconòmic i la Diagnosi de les dimensions de la política ciclista. El segon capítol comprèn les Debilitats, Fortaleses, Amenaces i Oportunitats de cada dimensió de la política integral de la bicicleta en l'àmbit d'estudi. El tercer capítol es dedica a l'establiment dels Criteris que hauran de guiar les polítiques de bicicleta. En el quart i darrer capítol es presenten les Propostes i Projectes de cada dimensió; en total es presenten 16 Propostes i 32 Projectes per al territori de la Ròtula de Montcada i Reixac. Finalment a l'apèndix hi trobareu el quadernet de treball de camp amb la planificació detallada de l'exercici troncal i els pòsters amb el recull dels principals resultats de l'exercici.

Departamento de Medio Ambiente y Agronomía​ (INIA), This study reports the results obtained from toxicological analyses of different types of baits referred to the laboratory of the Toxicology Area (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cáceres, Spain) over a 17-year period (2002-2018). These baits were suspicious materials found in the environment of the region of Extremadura (Western Spain), where such malpractices are a problem to be addressed, as wide livestock farming and hunting activities are combined with a significant wealth of wildlife (especially birds of prey). A total of 246 baits, including 32 commercial chemical products to be used in baits, were analysed. Samples from 183 cases were received and classified according to the material used for their preparation and the toxic substance found. Overall, the most common bait consisted of meat preparations (56.3% of cases) intended to eliminate predators considered 'annoying' for livestock and hunting practices, such as carnivores and scavengers. It should be noted that contact baits (as fenthion-impregnated perches) were also detected (7.6%). Regarding the substances detected, anticholinesterase compounds (organophosphates and carbamates) were the most commonly used substances for the preparation of baits (detected in 85.3% of positive baits). Moreover, 8% of the positive baits presented more than one toxic substance in their composition. Due to the types of toxic compounds and the methods used to prepare the baits, this study shows that the malicious use of highly toxic substances in the environment to kill wildlife is a common and current issue and poses a serious risk to different species., This work was cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Junta de Extremadura (GR 18080) and by the Junta de Extremadura through several research contracts.

Lograr la preparación del profesorado para que actúe como transformador de los procesos educativos que conducen y que estos se realicen con base en la investigación científica, es una de las aspiraciones más urgentes para cumplir los retos de la sociedad actual. El programa de máster en Educación lo incluye como uno de sus objetivos. Sin embargo, el aprendizaje de la estadística se presenta como una de las barreras en el cumplimiento de este propósito. Este artículo tiene como objetivo presentar una propuesta pedagógica a partir de la implementación de un curso virtual de estadística aplicada a la investigación educativa, soportado en la plataforma Moodle y dirigido al estudiantado de grado máster en Educación como alternativa para elevar los aprendizajes de esta materia. Se trata de una hibridación pedagógica de las tendencias: aprendizaje basado en problemas, aprendizaje basado en proyectos y la clase invertida. Se presentan y analizan los resultados alcanzados de su implementación en una muestra intencional de 34 personas estudiantes de Maestría en Didáctica de las Ciencias Exactas. Se aplicó un diseño experimental descriptivo y longitudinal sustentado en el enfoque cuantitativo. Los aprendizajes se evaluaron a partir de los informes presentados por el estudiantado a una secuencia de cinco tareas, que se calificaron usando descriptores de idoneidad epistémica medidos en cuatro niveles. Los resultados alcanzados, son alentadores, ligeramente superiores a otras propuestas de aprendizaje basado en proyectos (Alvarado et al., 2018); 30 personas estudiantes lograron llevar a término final el proyecto y completar el ciclo completo de investigación estadística, pero solo 8 lograron niveles altos y cuatro abandonaron el curso. Esto sugiere que la propuesta didáctica es una alternativa viable para enseñar la estadística en la maestría en Educación. Se sugieren futuras aplicaciones para posibles enmiendas en el diseño a fin de alcanzar resultados más elevados.

The Ares mission is part of a student-led project with the aim of developing a two-stage supersonic amateur rocket. This paper discusses the progress since its foundation in 2016 and how it is planned to continue progressing to achieve this objective. Currently, 4 rockets have been built and launched, evolving different aspects of the design and construction process in each one. From the Ares I, a two-stage rocket intended to test the electronics and the structure, the mission has evolved into designing the Phobos, a rocket whose aim is to compete in European Rocketry Challenges for universities. The final objective of the Ares Mission is to launch a two-stage supersonic rocket, the Ares III

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which contain many carcinogenic compounds, are a major ingredient of petroleum/oil. PAH pollution of the Caspian Sea, the world’s largest lake, is rapidly occurring and may be affecting the endangered Caspian seal (Pusa caspica), the only marine mammal in this lake. To analyze the entrance of PAHs into the Caspian Sea food chain and the health status of Caspian seals, we measured 16 carcinogenic PAHs in the liver, kidney, and blubber tissues of ten Caspian seal carcasses from the coastal region of northeastern Iran using gas chromatography-mass spectrophotometry. Of the 16 PAHs investigated, only anthracene, phenanthrene, and naphthalene were identified in nine sampled Caspian seals. Concentrations of anthracene (=84.83 ± 79.86 ppb wet weight [w.w.]), phenanthrene (=31.75 ± 52.22 ppb w.w.), and naphthalene (=25.1 ± 31.57 ppb w.w.) in blubber tissues were higher than in liver and kidney tissues. The concentration of PAHs in tissues was significantly higher in male than in female seals, and we found an inverse relationship between seal age and PAH concentration in tissues. Although no data exist concerning toxic effect concentrations of PAHs in Caspian seals, PAH detection in seal carcasses highlights a potentially stressful condition that may impact the health of Caspian seals and other sea life in this lake. Appropriate strategies for the control of PAH entrance into the Caspian Sea should be sought, and studies for the determination of pathogenic and lethal doses of PAHs in Caspian seals should be pursued.

El presente trabajo busca analizar el sigilo sacramental ante la posibilidad, y en algunos casos, ya una realidad, de que el Estado, en ejercicio de su deber jurisprudencial, determine por peso de ley, obligar a los ministros ordenados católicos a quebrantar el sigilo sacramental ante el conocimiento de un delito cometido por un penitente y revelado en celebración del sacramento de la penitencia. Por un lado, se encuentra la conciencia y la confianza del penitente ante el confesor que le atiende sacramentalmente, confía plenamente en la responsabilidad ética y espiritual del ministro ante todo lo que le será revelado y colocado, en sigilo, a su cuidado. Por otro lado, se ve la tendencia, cada vez más creciente de algunos Estados, de legislar para que, en algunos casos, el sigilo pueda ser dispensado cuando el penitente deba responder ante la justicia civil por alguna denuncia grave en su contra. The present work seeks to analyze the sacramental seal front the possibility, and in some cases, already a reality, that the State, in exercise of its jurisprudential duty, determines by weight of law, to force the Catholic ordained ministers to break the sacramental seal front the knowledge of a crime committed by a penitent and revealed in celebration of the sacrament of penance. On the one hand, there is the conscience and confidence of the penitent front the confessor who cares for him sacramentally, he fully trusts in the ethical and spiritual responsibility of the minister front everything that will be revealed and placed, in secrecy, in its care. On the other hand, there is an increasingly growing trend in some States to legislate so that, in some cases, seal could be dispensed with when the penitent must answer front the civil justice for a serious complaint against him.
