The simple parallel computing or single heterogeneous platform can no longer meet the requirements of signal processing and task scheduling with large computation and high complexity, so heterogeneous multi platform system has become the development trend of signal processing and task scheduling. In view of improving the throughput of the platform, utilization rate of the processor and perception of the task, this study investigates the signal processing model of heterogeneous multi-platform, and the scheduling tasks and hardware and software resources are modeled by directed acyclic graph. Based on the proposed scheduling algorithms, the task scheduling is summarized and compared. It is found that the hybrid scheduling algorithm based on task perception can meet the platform scheduling requirements well. Purpose. This paper presents the development of a software system for business metrics tracking. The purpose of this research is to provide business owners with a tool to keep track of their business metrics, allowing them to make data-driven decisions. Methodology. As one of the core technologies of electric vehicles (EVs), the state of charge (SOC) estimation algorithm of lithium-ion batteries is directly related to the performance of the battery management system (BMS). Before EVs are put into the market, the SOC estimation algorithm must be tested and verified to ensure the reliability of the BMS and the safe operation of EVs. Therefore, this paper establishes a lithium-ion batteries' SOC estimation algorithm verification platform for the comprehensive performance evaluation and verification of the new SOC estimation algorithm. In addition, there are two schemes, including real-time SOC estimation verification and offline SOC estimation verification can be selected, which improve the reliability and efficiency of verification. Firstly, the design idea of the verification platform (the research and development purpose, functional requirements, and the overall design scheme) is introduced in detail. Secondly, the modular design idea is used to design the hardware structure of the verification platform, which mainly includes the BMS host module, BMS slave module, battery charger module, and electronic load module. Finally, the software system, including the communication architecture, the SOC reference standard and evaluation indexes of the algorithm, and the upper computer function and implementation is designed to realize the functions of the verification platform. The article deals with the problem of research of software solutions of efficiently layout of material within a defined space for the needs of production storages and transport. The problem relates to using knowledge with branches of logistics, layout, math and geometry for needs of research and for needs the creation of an expert system of materials layout as the software application. Similar systems do not occur in the market for the needs of practice. The aim of the article is to point out the principles, which is necessary to take into account in the research of an expert system of materials layout. Final implementation of the goal consists of the idea to achieve a logistic computer system design, focused on the effective use of loading areas, combined with an aesthetic, comfortable and logically moulded outlet as a possible realistic graphic illustration of the desired result. This part refers to the object-oriented programming language, mainly because of its object-oriented features, such as polymorphism, or templating. At present, most of the existing data processing software for TEM only aim at the loop source devices, and can not deal with the data of the electric source devices. With the wide application of SOTEM, it is urgent to develop a set of data processing software suitable for SOT EM. By solving the key techniques of one-dimensional forward modelling for arbitrarily transmitters-receivers, joint inversion of multi-component and multi-source data, inversion of data with induced polarization effect, quasi-2D lateral constrained inversion, et c., SOTEMsoft, a special software system for SOTEM data processing was developed. The system has the functions of data arrangement, image display, data pre-processing, model building, forward modelling, data inverse, drawing input and so on. The results of numerical simulation and field data processing show that SOTEMsoft has perfect function, high precision and efficiency of data processing, and can meet the actual production requirements in field. Semat (Software Engineering Method and Theory) is an initiative developed for refounding software engineering by defining a theoretical basis, best practices, and a set of widely-agreed elements. ISO/IEC 25000 (System and Software Quality Requirements and Evaluation-SQuaRE) is an international standard, that evaluates software product quality. ISO 25000 replaces ISO/IEC 9126 and ISO/IEC 14598 standards. Some authors describe the relationship between quality measures of ISO/IEC 9126 and the requirements and software system states of the Semat Essence kernel. Also, they redefine the completion criteria of the activity spaces related to these alphas. Other proposals include a schematic relationship between ISO/IEC 9126 quality measures and the alpha states, but they avoid their correlation and some criteria for evaluating the product quality. Other proposals based on the ISO/IEC 25000 comprise other frameworks than Semat. Our proposal is focused on the selecting the appropriate measures of the software system states to structure the relationships between them, validate them by using a case study, and develop a model for product quality measurement. In view of the dynamic instability of rock mass in high geostress areas during underground engineering excavation, the comprehensive weight and extension methods are adopted to research the rockburst prediction. Firstly, five main influencing factors including uniaxial compressive strength, stress coefficient, brittleness coefficient, elastic energy index, and integrity of rock mass are used as the evaluation indexes of rockburst prediction according to the conditions required for rockburst occurrence. The assessment index system of rockburst intensity is constituted. Secondly, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and variation coefficient methods are used to determine the comprehensive weight of evaluation index, and the rockburst prediction model is established based on the extension evaluation method. Thirdly, the parameter programming and numerical calculation of the proposed prediction model are carried out in the MATLAB software. The user visualization execution window and software system of rockburst prediction model are realized. Finally, the software system is applied to the rockburst prediction in the water diversion tunnels of Jiangbian hydropower station and Jinping secondary hydropower station. The prediction results are compared with the actual situation and other evaluation methods. The results show that (i) the establishment of the user visualization window realizes the visualization and systematization of rockburst prediction model, which improves the data import rate and calculation efficiency. (ii) The prediction results of the proposed software system agree well with the actual situation, and they are more accurate than other evaluation methods. Code smells are indicators of inappropriate and possibly harmful design decisions that could lead to issues in the comprehensibility and maintainability of software systems. To avoid such quality complications, understanding the presence and prioritising the removal of code smells are required. This study presents a visualisation approach to help better understanding the evolutional characteristics of code smells presented in the different versions of the software system. The core of the visualisation approach is the metaphor of buildings and building blocks. An overall framework for detecting, categorising and visualising code smells is proposed. Three types of code smells were considered in this study. The considered code smells are God Class, Long Method and Type Checking. The applicability of the proposed approach is demonstrated by evaluating several versions of an open‐source java software and visualising the detected code smells. Software Engineering is a discipline that encompasses processes associated with the development of interactive systems. The perceived quality of an interactive system is heavily influenced by the user interface design, which may result in many challenges. One such challenge is design‐level requirements analysis. The success of the software system is mostly dependent on how well users' requirements have been understood and translated into appropriate functionalities. During the interactive system design process, it is common to find recurring problems in human–computer interactions, for which reusing solutions is highly feasible. Interaction design patterns seek to support designers in decision making during the design of interactive systems. Due to the design task tends to be subjective and prone to errors. This work aims at presenting and evaluating an interaction design patterns recommendation model based on design‐level requirements classification, through the application of supervised machine learning algorithms. To compare the performance of four classification algorithms, a study was carried out, in which the linear support vector machine was the most suitable to this problem. Clustering (modularisation) techniques are often employed for the meaningful decomposition of a program aiming to understand it. In the software clustering context, several external metrics are presented to evaluate and validate the resultant clustering obtained by an algorithm. These metrics use a ground‐truth decomposition to evaluate a resultant clustering. When there exists no ground‐truth decomposition for a software system, internal metrics are utilised to validate clustering algorithms. Due to the comparison with a reference decomposition, external metrics are preferred to internal metrics. Available internal metrics used to measure the clustering quality are not appropriate for evaluating because they do not consider the purpose of software clustering, which is to understand a software system. In this study, the authors present six criteria that influence the understanding of a program. Then the authors design an internal metric for estimating the software clustering quality considering those criteria. They selected ten folders of Mozilla Firefox with different sizes and functionalities to assess the reliability of the proposed metric. The experimental results confirm that the proposed internal metric is more accurate than the existing internal metrics in terms of proximity to expert decomposition. The development of open CNC systems is a popular topic in the past three decades. From the perspective of software engineering, most open CNC prototypes are developed based on the component-based software development (CBSD) approach. That is, they are constructed by composing functional or logical components. This paper retrospects the development of CBSD-based open CNC systems. These systems are analyzed from three aspects. For the component granularity aspect, CNC domain analysis and component reusability are discussed. For the component model aspect, component models used in open CNC systems are summarized, illustrated, and discussed. Likewise, for the software architecture aspect, architecture styles are summarized, described, and analyzed. But due to the diversity and platform dependency of component models, there is no widely accepted platform that can collect and execute heterogeneous CNC components. Service is an evolution of components. It makes a traditional component to be platform-independent and supports communication via message. Thus, a service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based universal open CNC platform is an attractive development trend of diverse CBSD-based open CNC systems. And its development is similar to the development of the CBSD-based system, but more complicated because it contains more domain logic. Therefore, this paper provides a technical foundation for developing SOA-based open CNC platform which is a part of novel automation patterns, such as cloud manufacturing and cyber-physical production system. Software requirements are an essential stepping stone for engineering any software system that meets the needs of its stakeholders. User interface (UI) contextual help provides end users with much‐needed support for understanding how to use a software system. This article presents an approach for generating contextual help from software requirements, while maintaining the ability to provide human input on the generated help. Domain classes, use cases, and UI flow models embody information that is valuable for help generation and are thereby used by the proposed approach. Templates are also used to define how requirements are associated with their contextual help counterpart elements. The generated help is represented using an existing contextual help definition language called CHAINXML. The latter was extended to support templates and alternatives in order to make the help generation process more seamless and to reduce the repetition in the generated help. The usefulness (usability and utility) of the generated help was evaluated by conducting a study with end users. If the requirements are clear and unambiguous in every aspect, then the system will be developed error-free. A few clients that are not educated and illiterate, then in this scenario, the given requirements are not clear and full of ambiguous. Monitoring and predicting the trend of bug number time series of a software system is crucial for both software project managers and software end‐users. For software managers, accurate prediction of bug number of a software system will assist them in making timely decisions, such as effort investment and resource allocation. For software end‐users, knowing possible bug number of their systems ahead will enable them to adopt timely actions in coping with the loss caused by possible system failures. This study proposes an approach called SamEn‐SVR to combine sample entropy and support vector regression (SVR) to predict software bug number using time series analysis. The basic idea is to use template vectors with the smallest complexity as input vectors for SVR classifiers to ensure predictability of time series. By using Mozilla Firefox bug data, we conduct extensive experiments to compare the proposed approach and state‐of‐the‐art techniques including auto‐regressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), X12 enhanced ARIMA and polynomial regression to predict bug number time series. Aiming at the problem of the diversity of multi-disciplinary simulation data of integrated circuits and decentralized data storage, the data requirements of integrated circuit simulation project were summarized, including signal integrity simulation, thermal simulation, vibration simulation and life simulation project. The simulation system based on C/S architecture was used to manage and process the collaborative simulation data, which can realize the standardized storage of the co-simulation data and the comparison of the relevant simulation performance parameters, and support data interface with ANSYS software and SIGRITY software, which can directly read the integrated circuit simulation output of the numerical file. The results show that the software system has the functions of collaborative simulation data management and data processing, and support data interface with a variety of CAE tools, which provides a guarantee for the sharing and delivery of integrated circuit co-simulation data. In software system, there are some functions of great importance in controlling the whole process of software execution. When they are damaged, the software will suffer from catastrophic consequences caused by cascading failures. To accurately identify and protect these influential functions has become a necessary method in software security. Thus, in this study a new approach to efficiently mine influential functions based on software execution sequence is proposed. First, the authors design a novel modelling strategy by which software execution traces are modelled as sequential patterns. Owing to loops, patterns can occur multiple times in a trace, which leads to high cost of time and extreme complexity of the research. Then, an algorithm is designed to remove repetitive patterns in software and software influential nodes mining algorithm is put forward to mine influential functions in software and to rank them by the rank‐index. Finally, by comparatively analysing the top‐ten functions got from PageRank and those from Degree‐Based algorithm, the approach is proved to be an effective and accurate one which combines advantages of the two classic algorithms. This paper describes the visual software system for memory interleaving simulation (VSMIS), implemented for the purpose of the course Computer Architecture and Organization 1, at the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade. The simulator enables students to expand their knowledge through practical work in the laboratory, as well as through independent work at home. VSMIS gives users the possibility to initialize parts of the system and to control simulation steps. The user has the ability to monitor simulation through graphical representation. It is possible to navigate through the entire hierarchy of the system using simple navigation. During the simulation the user can observe and set the values of the memory location. At any time, the user can reset the simulation of the system and observe it for different memory states; in addition, it is possible to save the current state of the simulation and continue with the execution of the simulation later. Manufacturing systems are increasingly becoming automatic and complex in nature. The introduction of computer numerical control (CNC) machine has brought a revolution in manufacturing technology. However, the consequence of automation is increasing dependency on the sub-system such as transport, communication, retrieval, milling and grinding machine etc. Failure of any one of such subsystem can severely affect the whole system. In this research work, mathematical modelling of a CNC machining system has been learning through Markov process and Supplementary variable technique. The reliability indices like availability, reliability, mean time to failure and cost analysis has been evaluating through Laplace transformation technique and by considering the constant value of failure and repair rates of the subsystems. For a realistic approach, some numerical examples for particular cases have also been discussing and obtained results are revealing graphically. This article presents a conceptual model of software system for organization and monitoring of the admission and training of doc torate applicants. The system is created as a part of university project. In the paper is presented a description of all organizational steps for a doctorate, their sequence and time period. This article is devoted to the development of the software system used to create an English-Russian-Ukrainian terminological dictionary. Scanned and recognized documents in MSWord format were the input data for the dictionary. Issues which appeared during the parsing of the input data are analyzed and solutions using regular expressions are identified. This article also describes the scheme of the dictionary's lexicographical database, and its classes of models, views and view models. In addition, a detailed description of the software system from a user's perspective is included, the prospects for the usage of the dictionary are discussed, and the methods used during the development of the system are described. The software system is built using the design pattern Model-View-View-Model. Through the use of this pattern, internal logic is separated from user interface, thus changes made in different parts of the software may be independent. The developed software system allows users to edit, to fill, and thus to create new thematic transferable electronic dictionaries. During the last decade a new trend of approaches has emerged, which considers models not just documentation artefacts, but also central artefacts in the software engineering field, allowing the creation or automatic execution of software systems starting from those models. These proposals have been classified generically as Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) and share common concepts and terms that need to be abstracted, discussed and understood. This paper presents a survey on MDE based on a unified conceptual model that clearly identifies and relates these essential concepts, namely the concepts of system, model, metamodel, modeling language, transformations, software platform, and software product. In addition, this paper discusses the terminologies relating MDE, MDD, MDA and others. This survey is based on earlier work, however, contrary to those, it intends to give a simple, broader and integrated view of the essential concepts and respective terminology commonly involved in the MDE, answering to key questions such as: What is a model? What is the relation between a model and a metamodel? What are the key facets of a modeling language? How can I use models in the context of a software development process? Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe the use of information technology (IT) in the fight against forest fires in southern France. Design/methodology/approach – The focus is on specifying the infrastructure and equipment used during operational interventions, as well as the role and functioning of the mobile command posts, which represent the nerve centers. As part of the firefighters operational practices, the concepts of the “tactical situation” and the “mobile means board” are at the heart of operations management. The purpose of the tactical situations is to present a synthetic overview of the theatre of operations through graphic representation on a background map. The function of the mobile means board is to manage the life cycle of the different resources engaged in the operations. The author first shows how these concepts were developed within the framework of manual management only. This is followed by an IT solution using a geographical information system for each of these operational modes. Findings – A profound recognition of operational practices was a prerequisite to enable the personnel to accept a progression towards the use of IT techniques. Research limitations/implications – The implemented approach precisely reflects the French forest firefighting doctrine. Application to other countries would thus require some adaptation. Originality/value – The software system provides an easy access to geographical information functionalities for firefighters managing forest fires. The paper is related to the development of the methodology for quality control of printed circuit cards based on automatic script. The development of both quality control systems appropriate for small-batch production and automatic scripts providing for reduction of time required for quality control is a burning issue. Automated bowel sound (BS) analysis methods were already well developed by the early 2000s. Accuracy of ~90% had been achieved by several teams using various analytical approaches. Clinical research on BS had revealed their high potential in the non-invasive investigation of irritable bowel syndrome to study gastrointestinal motility and in a surgical setting. This article proposes a novel methodology for the analysis of BS using hybrid convolutional and recursive neural networks. It is one of the first methods of using deep learning to be widely explored. We have developed an experimental pipeline and evaluated our results with a new dataset collected using a device with a dedicated contact microphone. Data have been collected at night-time, which is the most interesting period from a neurogastroenterological point of view. Previous works had ignored this period and instead kept brief records only during the day. Our algorithm can detect bowel sounds with an accuracy >93%. Moreover, we have achieved a very high specificity (>97%), crucial in diagnosis. The results have been checked with a medical professional, and they successfully support clinical diagnosis. We have developed a client-server system allowing medical practitioners to upload the recordings from their patients and have them analyzed online. This system is available online. Although BS research is technologically mature, it still lacks a uniform methodology, an international forum for discussion, and an open platform for data exchange, and therefore it is not commonly used. Abstract: A layer-based method for rapid software development is presented in this paper. It follows the guidelines suggested by Extreme Programming (XP) that require highly expressive programming languages (i.e., Java) and CASE tools. As in XP, this method addresses rapid software development for small- or medium-sized projects. Further, for effective guidance on the development, it directs the construction of system components by imposing an architecture-based concept of layered specification and construction of these components through its activities. Since the method follows the guidelines suggested by XP and supports effective guidance by a layered development of architectural components, team productivities can be greatly enhanced with less (but effective) overheads on specification work. The method uses UML and Petri nets as its modeling tool; for illustration, an example application is presented that specifies and directs the development of a software system with business-oriented Internet services. This process is time consuming and occupies the medics' hands preventing them from focusing on the treatment of the wounded soldier. This paper proposes a more efficient way to assist the combat medic by recording the audio and then converting it into text and then using information extraction techniques and pattern matching algorithms to automatically complete the TCCC card. This paper describes the proposed system and an algorithm to extract values for the TCCC card. The extracted values are then stored in a XML file and later parsed and stored in as a JAVA object. The paper presents a formalized technology for risk management intellectualized with new functions to increase the software process maturity. Intelligent risk management (IRM) is represented by a double spiral with “inner” turns being the processes of expert assessment of IRM objects to support the increased consistency of decisions and the efficiency of IRM participants. They link “outer” turns (the cycles of efficient risk mitigation in a common information environment at the levels of both developing organization and software project) to support the integration of project targets and improvement of software quality and strategic goals of the executing organization. We develop a unified functional formalism for modelling complex systems, that is to say systems that are composed of a number of heterogeneous components, including typically software and physical devices. Our approach relies on non-standard analysis that allows us to model continuous time in a discrete way. S ystems are defined as generalized Turing machines with temporized input, internal and output mechanisms. Behaviors of systems are represented by transfer functions. A transfer function is said to be implementable if it is associated with a system. This notion leads us to define a new class – which is natural in our framework – of computable functions on (usual) real numbers. We show that our definitions are robust: on one hand, the class of implementable transfer functions is closed under composition; on the other hand, the class of computable functions in our meaning includes analytical functions whose coefficients are computable in the usual way, and is closed under addition, multiplication, differentiation and integration. Our class of computable functions also includes solutions of dynamical and Hamiltonian systems defined by computable functions. Introduction: Latest measurements of the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) allowed the integration of the simulation of the Bielschowsky head-tilt test (BHTT) into the SEE++ software system. SEE++ realizes a biomechanical model of the human eye in order to simulate eye motility disorders and strabismus surgeries. With the addition of the BHTT it can now also be used for differential-diagnostic simulations of complex disorders (e.g., superior oblique palsies). Methods: In order to simulate the BHTT in SEE++, the user can freely choose the desired head-tilt angle from -45° to +45°. The chosen angle is shown in the 3D view with a human body model and is also used in the calculation of the Hess-Lancaster test. Results: The integration of the BHTT offers an additional improvement of the possibilities for simulating eye motility disorders. Moreover, SEE++ allows the creation of a video of the “virtual patient” while tilting the head from one side to the other, which shows dynamic changes in the simulated Hess-diagrams. Discussion: Comparisons of simulation results with patient-measured data showed a good correlation between the simulated and the measured data. Further comparisons with patient data are planned. A genetic algorithm (GA) can find an optimal solution in many complex problems. GAs have been widely used in many applications. A flexible-very-large-scale integration intellectual property for the GA has been proposed in this paper. This algorithm can dynamically perform various population sizes, fitness lengths, individual lengths, fitness functions, crossover operations, and mutation-rate settings to meet the real-time requirements of various GA applications. The design methodology mainly focuses on things such as co-development with hardware, reducing cost and time, and increasing portability, reusability, and robustness. This paper explores how to design a high performance, robust software system with component-based method and systematic level co-development. Complex architecture and system requirements constrain the whole process. Software security breaches are now very extremely common and a larger percentage is caused by software design defects. Since individuals and organizations now completely depend on software systems for their day-to-day operations, it is then important to produce secure software products. This paper discusses the problems of producing secure software products and provides a model for improving software security. The model -- Secure Software Development Model (SSDM), is unified model that integrates security engineering with software engineering so as to ensure effective production of secure software products. The SPE taxonomy of evolving software systems, first proposed by Lehman in 1980, is re-examined in this work. The primary concepts of software evolution are related to generic theories of evolution, particularly Dawkins' concept of a replicator, to the hermeneutic tradition in philosophy and to Kuhn's concept of paradigm. These concepts provide the foundations that are needed for understanding the phenomenon of software evolution and for refining the definitions of the SPE categories. In particular, this work argues that a software system should be defined as of type P if its controlling stakeholders have made a strategic decision that the system must comply with a single paradigm in its representation of domain knowledge. The proposed refinement of SPE is expected to provide a more productive basis for developing testable hypotheses and models about possible differences in the evolution of E- and P-type systems than is provided by the original scheme. Abstract: The analysis of application for software development is usually guided and, hence, constrained by concepts and constructs of structured and object-oriented programming languages. It produces an analysis model that bears no essential difference from a software design. Here, we introduce an ontological Weltanschauung in application analysis for understanding essentials and novelties, which are obscured in structured and object-oriented methods of application analysis. The ontological viewpoint is reified with a systemic framework, or simply an ontology, which can be related to software design. Thus, we can apply ontological analysis in software development.
