The active presence of students in the academic libraries has been on a steady decline throughout the digital era. The current research was conducted with the aim of investigating the factors affecting the quality of academic library spaces. The research method was correlational and the target population has consisted of all central library users of top universities in Tehran. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 246 users of the academic libraries, from January to March 2019. Respondents were selected using cluster sampling method. The users’ satisfaction on academic library questionnaire was completed by all participants. Respondents ranked their responses among each of the variables by using Likert scale. 210 questionnaires were included in the final analysis after exclusion of 36 questionnaires with missing data. Data analyses were done by using SPSS software and the validity of the questionnaire was analyzed. To process information and identify categories of items of questionnaires, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was used and three major factors of users’ satisfaction in libraries have been extracted according to the users’ opinion. Nowadays new innovative approaches based on the technology of software defined networks (SDN) are gaining popularity in the field of computer networks (CN). SDN provide a flexible approach to the processing and control of data flows in CN by separating the control plane and data plane, as well as centralizing the representation of the entire network. In this paper, we propose a software infrastructure and a visual web-oriented environment (SIVE) for dynamic control of data flows in campus SDN based on OpenFlow protocol. It was proposed to use the SIVE as an integrated segment of the campus network of Ryazan State Radio Engineering University. The aim of the work is the development of the SIVE architecture in the form of UML class diagram description, as well as the creation of software methods for organizing effective network interaction of various software systems in SDN based on OpenFlow protocol. A hardware-software test bench based on HP Aruba 2920-24G equipment was developed to confirm the efficiency and reliability of the proposed SIVE. The offered SIVE is the basis for the development of a large class of software systems and SDN components based on OpenFlow protocol.

Research software has become a central asset in academic research. It optimizes existing and enables new research methods, implements and embeds research knowledge, and constitutes an essential research product in itself. Research software must be sustainable in order to understand, replicate, reproduce, and build upon existing research or conduct new research effectively. In other words, software must be available, discoverable, usable, and adaptable to new needs, both now and in the future. Research software therefore requires an environment that supports sustainability. Hence, a change is needed in the way research software development and maintenance are currently motivated, incentivized, funded, structurally and infrastructurally supported, and legally treated. Failing to do so will threaten the quality and validity of research. In this paper, we identify challenges for research software sustainability in Germany and beyond, in terms of motivation, selection, research software engineering personnel, funding, infrastructure, and legal aspects. Besides researchers, we specifically address political and academic decision-makers to increase awareness of the importance and needs of sustainable research software practices. In particular, we recommend strategies and measures to create an environment for sustainable research software, with the ultimate goal to ensure that software-driven research is valid, reproducible and sustainable, and that software is recognized as a first class citizen in research. This paper is the outcome of two workshops run in Germany in 2019, at deRSE19 - the first International Conference of Research Software Engineers in Germany - and a dedicated DFG-supported follow-up workshop in Berlin.

To standardize and unify the source code and mathematical modeling of system software, it is advisable to use standard templates (patterns). They create a system software infrastructure for later use for program development. This is especially important for real-time operating systems, where you can pre-determine possible speed limits for embedded programs. For this purpose, for embedded systems based on microcontrollers of the Cortex-M architecture, standard software patterns State have been developed in the procedural and OOP paradigm. The developed patterns allow to unify the source code of the system software for microcontrollers of the Cortex-M architecture of different manufacturers. Research has been conducted to determine the speed limit of real-time operations. The software is adapted to the mathematical model of a finite state machine. The results were tested on microcontrollers of the STM32F1xx series. This allows to extend the solution to the MC of other manufacturers, which confirms the practical value of the developed patterns. The most recent advances in Internet of Things (IoT) are aimed at the development of software platforms defined as middleware. A smart space makes fusion of the physical and information worlds enhancing a IoT environment by enabling information sharing for a variety of local digital devices and global resources from the Internet. The growing number of application smart spaces requires a middleware that provides opportunities for the development of context-aware applications based on multi-agent approach. The paper presents a perspective on how to design a software infrastructure of semantic-oriented middleware for smart spaces deployment in IoT environments. This paper introduces the middleware infrastructure multilayer model. The paper also involves an analysis of middleware requirements for development and deployment of smart spaces in IoT environments and the implementation of the requirements in the proposed model. As a reference case study the CuteSIB semantic information broker implementation of the Smart-M3 platform is considered.

The article reviews the problems and methods of combining big data processing work in a fully distributed mode of operation into the infrastructure of a technology startup company. In this direction, the methods of integrating an external distributed Hadoop system (cluster) are described in more detail. These methods are connected to the operating scenarios for infrastructure integration. The problems with traffic and latency are reviewed. A plan of the process of implementation and operation of a distributed Hadoop system is presented with the steps and indicative term. The goal it reaches is a suitable system for operational work on projects in a technology startup company. Then, it is connected to a list of measures in the different stages in a startup company's work. The problems with operational management of the teamwork with flexible methodology and system administration are listed, discussed and solutions proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This contribution proposes software infrastructure to support new types of learning methodologies and resources based on collaborative knowledge engineering by means of an innovative application framework called the virtualized collaborative sessions framework (VCSF). The VCSF helps meet challenging collaborative knowledge engineering requirements in online learning, such as increasing group members’ learning performance during the on-line collaborative learning process. In turn, systematic application of the VCSF platform enriched with semantic knowledge engineering technologies enables e-learning developers to leverage successful collaborative learning experiences in a software reuse fashion while saving development time and effort. The framework is prototyped and successfully tested in real environments, thus showing the software reuse capability and the collaborative knowledge engineering benefits of the VCSF approach. The research reported in this paper was undertaken within the ALICE project funded through the European 7th Framework Program (FP7).

For many years now our research team has been involved in an effort (both theoretical and technological) that can be labeled as an attempt to investigate the notion of cooperation from the 'participation' or 'contribution' perspective. From our perspective, it encompasses a set of situations in which different actors identified or unidentified, ratified or not, distributed in space and time, contribute to a sometimes ill-defined collective goal, using most of the time low-overhead web-based technologies. Doing so, people participate to a collective design that aims at generating a bunch of perpetually moving collective knowledge and decisions submitted to discussion, negotiation and sometimes dismissal. To avoid the design of services as a repeated 'one-shot' process we have gradually built a transverse software infrastructure that can be used in various projects aiming to design participatory services using complex knowledge and cooperations. Thanks to this “non-disposable” infrastructure, the participatory services designed take profit from the scientific outcomes of each previous project.
