This paper aims to map knowledge produced by associated laboratories in Portugal using the two-phase model of discourse analysis proposed by Sousa and Magalhães(2013). We analyse the mission of associated laboratories to understand what is (are) the privileged form(s) of knowing in science and the actors involved in that process. Weidentify discourse organisers (phase one of the model) and the way discourses become dominant/excluded (phase two of the model). The application of the two-phase model of discourse analysis enables us to conclude that research is being constructed as academic science in a post-academic world and researchers are presented as “in training” or as professors.

Following the 2008 financial crisis and with the increase of migrants movements since 2015 the welfare policies across EU are increasingly becoming instruments for limiting mobility of migrants from outside the EU borders. In this article we focus on the implications that asylum policies have for the interventions of social workers and the ethical dilemmas that they face. This article is the result of an exploratory work. Thus, based on the author's PhD dissertation, as well as resorting to her professional experience as a social worker, she carried out a literature review to identify a set of articles that analyse the practice of Social Work with asylum seekers and refugees and the ethical issues and challenges associated with it. The main goal of this article is to contribute to the reflection on the role of the social worker in safeguarding human rights of this population.

O presente trabalho teve como objeto de estudo discursos clínicos sobre vaginismo no contexto português. Pretendeu-se fazer um mapeamento das configurações possíveis para o vaginismo no discurso de profissionais (ginecologistas, fisioterapeutas da área da saúde da mulher e psicoterapeutas) e de mulheres (com vaginismo atual e passado). Tratando-se de um estudo exploratório e qualitativo, o trabalho de campo desenvolveu-se através da organização de 6 grupos de discussão e da análise temática. Participaram 10 clientes e 13 profissionais. A análise temática permitiu identificar dois temas globais: (i) as configurações do apoio profissional oferecido às mulheres com vaginismo e (ii) as configurações do vaginismo e da mulher/casal com vaginismo. Para cada um dos temas globais foram identificados temas e, para alguns temas, sub-temas. Ao perceber os conceitos principais e as várias dimensões que constituem o apoio profissional, conseguimos identificar e discutir o que pode constituir uma "boa prática" e uma "má prática" no apoio profissional a mulheres com vaginismo. O apoio profissional desadequado, relatado por todas as mulheres e confirmado por alguns/mas dos/as profissionais, reveste-se num foco excessivo no relaxamento, na ausência da normalização da situação, na pré-dedução da origem do vaginismo sem uma exploração prévia, na indicação de drogas e de cirurgias, e na ausência de reencaminhamento. Desconhecimento, ignorância e desvalorização por parte de profissionais que resultam na perturbação e na humilhação das clientes. Já o apoio profissional adequado é caracterizado pela empatia, normalização e validação envolvendo um trabalho reflexivo e em equipa multidisciplinar. Também a conceptualização do vaginismo tem impacto tanto no apoio profissional que as mulheres recebem, como na própria construção que as clientes fazem. Quando se fala de vaginismo fala-se de uma oposição entre o "bom casal" e o "casal histerofóbico" e de uma mulher com um certo "perfil", interagindo com crenças sobre o papel da penetração vaginal na sexualidade. São estas configurações, argumentamos nós, que são urgentes considerar tanto por clínicos/ as, como por investigadores/as quando se confrontam com um caso de vaginismo. E que continuam, em muitos casos, no domínio da invisibilidade e da desvalorização.

Coronavirus disease 2019, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 is spreading around the world, and the outbreak continues to escalate. Recently, it has been noticed that besides the typical respiratory complications, some severely affected coronavirus disease 2019 patients also experience neurological manifestations. Here, we describe the case of a newly diagnosed unilateral hypoglossal nerve palsy in a severe coronavirus disease 2019 patient. The intubation procedure was uneventful, and magnetic resonance imaging excluded the most reported causes of isolated hypoglossal nerve injury. This case reports a rare condition. Although a reasonable doubt remains, it cannot be excluded that it may be a neurological manifestation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, the authors believe it to be the cause of the palsy. The main importance of this article is to alert clinicians for neurological sequels that may require a targeted rehabilitation program.

Apresenta-se o caso clínico de uma jovem de 21 anos que evolui com insuficiência respiratória aguda hipoxémica, necessidade de ventilação mecânica invasiva e suporte por técnica de Oxigenação por Membrana Extracorpórea em contexto de pneumonia bilateral a Metapneumovírus. Este caso surge numa altura em que o país enfrenta a doença COVID-19, causada pelo vírus SARS-CoV-2, declarada pela Organização Mundial de Saúde como pandemia internacional no dia 11 de março de 2020. Apesar de, ao longo do internamento desta doente, a dúvida de uma possível infeção a SARS-CoV-2 ter persistido, não foi descurado o diagnóstico etiológico diferencial, o que permitiu concluir tratar-se de um caso de pneumonia bilateral a Metapneumovírus. O novo coronavírus, designado SARS-CoV-2, foi identificado pela primeira vez em dezembro de 2019 na China e, desde então, tem provocado a doença COVID-19 a milhares de pessoas por todo o mundo, declarada pela Organização Mundial de Saúde como pandemia internacional no dia 11 de março de 2020. Apresenta-se o caso clínico de um jovem de 24 anos, natural do Nepal, previamente saudável, que evolui com insuficiência respiratória aguda hipoxémica e necessidade de ventilação mecânica invasiva em contexto de pneumonia a SARSCoV-2. Apesar de um primeiro diagnóstico laboratorial negativo e ausência de critérios epidemiológicos, a elevada suspeição clínica determinou a realização de uma segunda pesquisa de infeção por SARS-CoV-2, que veio a confirmar o diagnóstico. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

Gonipterus spp. weevils (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) are pests of Eucalyptus stands in many world regions. Here, we determined the host plant volatiles that might mediate host selection behaviour in G. platensis. Eucalyptus globulus volatile organic compounds were collected by headspace solid-phase microextraction, monolithic material sorption extraction and simultaneous distillation–extraction. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry/electroantennographic detection (GC–MS/EAD) was used to determine which compounds triggered antennal responses in the insect. Further chemical analysis of the extracted compounds was conducted using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GCxGC/TOFMS). Gonipterus platensis antennal response was elicited by 51 host plant volatiles and was subsequently confirmed for 33 of these compounds using commercial standards. The behavioural response of G. platensis to individual compounds was assessed in a two-arm olfactometer with ten parallel walking chambers, coupled to video tracking and data analysis software. Weevils of known age, sex and mating status were tested. We identified eight kairomones and two allomones. The behavioural responses differed depending on insect sex and mating status. Three compounds attracted virgin females or both sexes: camphene, (+)-α-pinene and 2-phenylethanol and are potential candidates for application in integrated pest management approaches. Furthermore, the two allomones may have potential use for developing push–pull strategies.

Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Arquitectura, Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, 2019 Exame público realizado em 9 de Junho de 2020 Esta dissertação pretende abordar o tema da arquitetura portuguesa em Goa, analisa diversas características de como a chegada portuguesa a Goa trouxe alterações à arquitetura, à cultura e à vivência. Estuda também as características únicas decorrentes da junção das culturas. Tem como intenção levantar questões sobre o tema, tais como, a contínua presença das nossas raízes, hábitos e arquitetura, que persistem atualmente. Seguindo este âmbito, procura-se estudar, aprofundar e analisar tanto o espaço de habitar, quanto o espaço exterior, num âmbito social, bem como os métodos e materiais construtivos. Posto isto, serão também abordados dois casos de estudo, que mostram a evolução da arquitetura em Goa, sob influência portuguesa, e de como essas características foram mantidas até aos dias de hoje. This dissertation aims to address the theme of Portuguese architecture in Goa, analyzes several characteristics of how the Portuguese arrival to Goa brought changes to architecture, culture and experience. It also studies the unique characteristics arising from the junction of cultures. It intends to raise questions on the subject, such as the continuous presence of our roots, habits and architecture, which currently persist. Following this context, we seek to study, deepen and analyze both the space of living and the outer space, in a social sphere, as well as constructive methods and materials. Having said that, two cases of study will also be addressed, which show the evolution of architecture in Goa under Portuguese influence, and how these characteristics have been maintained to this day.

Multidisciplinary knowledge on the impact caused by invasive alien species (IAS) on ecosystems is crucial for guiding policy makers in the adoption of sustainable management measures. This research was focused on insect IAS impacts on two managed ecosystems: eucalypt plantations and citrus orchards. It begins with an identification of the wide range of ecosystem services (ES) and disservices provided by each of these managed ecosystems, according to the methodology proposed by the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. Subsequently, a comprehensive review of studies that promoted the identification and valuation of direct and indirect impacts IAS impacts on these ecosystems was performed. From the synthesis of previous findings, an integrative management framework is advanced. This links the identification of ES, drivers of change and development of IAS management strategies by means of assessment processes that account for multiple dimensions of ES values. The article concludes with a discussion on the challenges underpinning assessment and valuation approaches that inform the design of inclusive strategies and interventions to tackle IAS impacts.

Relatório de estágio apresentado à Escola Superior de Comunicação Social como parte dos requisitos para obtenção de grau de mestre em Publicidade e Marketing. O presente relatório de estágio surge no âmbito da realização do trabalho final para obtenção do grau de mestre em Publicidade e Marketing pela Escola Superior de Comunicação Social. O estágio foi realizado na empresa OK Estudante e teve uma duração de quatro meses. Este estágio surgiu numa época de mudança para a empresa, tanto a nível da sua estrutura como também ao nível da sua estratégia de comunicação. A empresa não tinha um plano de comunicação propriamente definido, e a falta de uma estratégia impedi-a de alcançar melhores resultados. Neste contexto, o objectivo basilar do estágio centrou-se na implementação de uma estratégia de comunicação integrada com vista a obter um maior número de leads. Foi utilizado o método de investigação-ação, caracterizado por quatro fases, que serviram de base para a realização do estágio e igualmente do presente relatório. Numa primeira fase, de diagnóstico, foi feito um levantamento da situação em que a empresa se encontrava do ponto de vista comunicacional. Numa segunda fase e tendo em conta os aspectos apontados a melhorar na fase de diagnóstico, delineou-se a estratégia a adoptar. Implementada a estratégia, que passou pela integração do evento, do email marketing, do Facebook e do Facebook Ads, num plano de comunicação. Foram analisados os resultados obtidos e após a discussão dos mesmos, concluiu-se que estes foram positivos e que o objectivo principal do estágio tinha sido cumprido. Foi possível comprovar que uma estratégia de comunicação focada nos objectivos e com a integração de várias técnicas e meios disponíveis traduz-se na eficiência e na sinergia dos mesmos, dando origem a resultados positivos como os conseguidos. ABSTRACT: This internship report comes as the final work to obtain the master’s degree in Advertising and Marketing by the School of Communication and Media Studies. It was carried out an internship lasting four months at the company OK Estudante, namely in marketing and communications department. The internship came at a time of change for the company, both in terms of its structure but also at its communication strategy. The company did not have a communication plan properly set, and the lack of a strategy was preventing that better results were achieved. In this context, the aim of this internship focused on the implementation of an integrated communication strategy in order to obtain a greater number of leads. It was used the Action Research Method, characterized by four phases, which were the basis for the accomplishment of the internship and of this report. Initially, it was diagnosed the situation of the communication point of view of the company. In a second phase, taking into account the issues raised to improve in the diagnostic phase, it was outlined a strategy to be adopted. After implementing the strategy, that integrated various media and communication techniques into a communication plan, the results were analysed, and after discussing them, it was concluded that they were positive and the internship purpose was fulfilled. It was possible to prove that a communication strategy focused on the objectives and that integration of several techniques and media, results in great efficiency and synergies, yielding positive results as achieved. The purpose of this chapter is to present a descriptive and interpretative approach on the changing personal (gender, citizenship, parents’ education) and professional characteristics (work performed, employment status), and trajectories of Portuguese academics. This approach is contextualised in the changes that have emerged in the Portuguese higher education system and institutions since the 1974 democratic revolution. Based on data analysis from the international Changing Academic Profession (CAP) survey, the chapter tries to address a set of issues related to some social characteristics of academics, as well as to their career trajectories, sense of commitment/affiliation and perceptions of scholarship and time devoted to teaching and research.

Within and across many expanded and diversified higher education systems, the recognition and understanding of differences between institutions becomes especially challenging. Forms of both ‘vertical’ and ‘horizontal’ differentiation frequently exist alongside each other, though with increasing attention given to the former. Institutional boundaries become more porous within intra-sector and cross-sector collaborations, as networks become increasingly important in both. Do the ways in which different kinds of higher education institutions interact within networks, as well as the nature of those networks, differ? To what extent do network configurations become platforms for distinct knowledge trajectories to develop? It is possible to detect trends of both convergence and differentiation in these developments within and across higher education systems, reflecting global, national, regional and local influences? In order to capture these trends empirically, the CINHEKS research team developed and applied a form of comparative grid analysis with which to construct profiles of 28 higher education institutions drawn from five countries: Finland, Germany, Portugal, the UK and the USA. Based largely on public information from institutional websites, profile grids were constructed to capture institutional characteristics in terms of context/mission, knowledge organisation, knowledge production, knowledge transmission and knowledge transfer. Within each grid, institutions were compared in respect of dimensions such as local/global, teaching/research, disciplinary/inter-disciplinary, considerable or little networking, inter-sectoral/cross-sectoral orientation, intellectual/entrepreneurial rationales, collaborative/individual approaches etc. The profiles revealed most institutions to be explicitly active in partnerships and networks. Most were active in both intra-sector and cross-sector partnerships. Patterns of difference and convergence emerged though, with the five national systems differentially located across the grids. Two key dimensions reflecting the differences were those of ‘domain’ – intra-sector or cross sector networking – and ‘mission’ – knowledge as a ‘private’ or a ‘public’ good.

Os acontecimentos registados a 11 de Setembro de 2001 abalaram o mundo. A segurança foi colocada em causa e o medo instalou-se de forma imediata nos quatro cantos do mundo. O despoletar do Terrorismo tornou-se uma ameaça extremamente séria à dignidade da vida humana. O Canadá, país fronteiriço dos Estado-Unidos da América não ficou indiferente com a presença das ações terroristas. Perante a dimensão transnacional do Terrorismo, não só procedeu à implementação de um vasto conjunto de medidas, incluindo estratégias de prevenção e de resposta, como adotou uma nova consciencialização perante esta espiral de violência que ostenta não ter fim. Les événements qui ont eu lieu le 11 Septembre 2001 ont secoué le monde. La sécurité a été remise en question et la peur s’est installée immédiatement dans les quatre coins du monde. Le déclenchement du Terrorisme est devenu une menace extrêmement grave à la dignité de la vie humaine. Le Canada, qui fait frontière avec les États-Unis d’Amérique n'est pas resté indifférent à la présence d'actes terroristes. Compte tenu de la nature transnationale du terrorisme, il a non seulement mis en œuvre une série de mesures, y compris des stratégies et des réponses, comme il a aussi adopté une nouvelle prise de conscience sur cette spirale de violence qui paraît ne pas avoir de fin.

Dissertação de Mestrado em Ensino de Educação Física, nos Ensinos Básico e Secundário O objetivo do presente estudo foi esclarecer a importância e a atualidade da disciplina de Educação Física (EF) bem como caracterizar a sua evolução no Ensino Básico e Secundário ao longo das últimas três décadas. O nosso campo de estudo foi composto por 10 docentes de EF, sendo 6 do género masculino e 4 do feminino. A idade dos nossos entrevistados variou entre os 52 e 58 anos e o tempo de serviço entre os 31 e os 40. Todos os nossos entrevistados estão no ativo e lecionam a disciplina de EF no Ensino Básico e ou Secundário, em escolas públicas do concelho de Viseu. Nesta investigação foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas. A Análise de Conteúdo foi a técnica utilizada para o tratamento de dados. Os resultados deste estudo qualitativo evidenciaram que na generalidade das opiniões dos entrevistados, há três décadas os alunos davam maior importância à disciplina de EF do que no presente. Ao contrário, os pais ou encarregados de educação davam então pouca importância a esta disciplina, preocupando-se no entanto agora, com o aproveitamento que os seus filhos possam obter. Relativamente aos professores de outras matérias, nas últimas três décadas estes olhavam para a EF como uma disciplina menor, diferentemente da maior valorização que hoje lhe dão. Por fim, quanto aos órgãos de gestão das escolas, nas últimas três décadas foram gradualmente reconhecendo uma maior importância desta disciplina. Ao longo desses anos, verificou-se um aumento da carga horária da disciplina de EF sem que no entanto, não houvesse melhorias significativas nem nos programas nem nos conteúdos, encontram-se ainda desadequados atualmente aos interesses dos alunos. A formação inicial dos docentes de EF ao longo das últimas três décadas foi muito discrepante e a formação contínua foi para muitos professores uma corrida aos créditos. No presente, tanto a formação inicial, como a contínua, ainda não são adequadas. Os maiores constrangimentos da disciplina de EF foram os espaços e materiais, a sua desvalorização e a formação de horários. Os maiores progressos a valorização e o aumento das qualificações de muitos docentes. De acordo com as sugestões colhidas, é premente introduzir na disciplina de EF novas modalidades, aumentar a sua carga horária e tornar o Desporto Escolar obrigatório após inscrição facultativa. The aim of this study was to clarify the importance and relevance of Physical Education (PE) subject as well to characterize its evolution in primary and secondary school over the past three decades. Our study field was composed by 10 PE teachers, 6 males and 4 females. The age of our interviewees varies between 52 and 58 years and their service time between 31 and 40. All the interviewees are working and teaching PE in Basic and Secondary public schools in Viseu council. In this investigation it were made some semi-structured interviews. The technique used for the data treatment was the analysis of the content. The results of this qualitative study showed that according to the opinions of the interviewees, three decades ago students gave more importance to PE subject than nowadays. Instead, parents or tutors gave then little importance to this subject, worrying however, currently, with the score that their children can get. For teachers of other subjects, in the last three decades they looked to PE subject as a minor one, unlike the overvaluation that is given today. Finally, in the past three decades the management boards of schools have gradually recognized greater importance of this subject. Throughout those years, there was an increase in workload of PE subject, however there weren’t any significant improvements in the programs or in the content, they are still inadequate to students best interests. The initial formation of PE teachers over the last three decades was very discrepant and continuous formation has been a race to the credits for many teachers. At present, both the initial formation, such as continuous, aren’t yet suitable. The biggest constraints of PE subject were the spaces and materials, its devaluation and the organization of timetables. The greatest progresses were the appreciation and qualifications raise of many teachers. According to the suggestions collected is imperious to introduce new modalities in PE subject, increase its workload and make School Sport required after optional enrollment.

Este relatório incidiu no trabalho desenvolvido durante o estágio curricular na OesteSustentável – Agência Regional de Energia e Ambiente do Oeste e que teve como tema “Contributos para a implementação de estratégias na área da energia e do ambiente numa Agência de Energia e Ambiente” Durante o estágio realizaram-se diversas atividades, tendo a mais importante sido o acompanhamento do desenvolvimento das Matrizes Energéticas e de emissões de GEE dos municípios pertencentes à Região Oeste, incluindo contactos com os municípios e DGEG para pedido de elementos necessários para a realização das matrizes. No âmbito da extinção do mercado regulado de eletricidade foi realizada uma consulta de mercado para a escolha de fornecedor de energia elétrica para os edifícios da responsabilidade da OesteCIM, tendo como referência os consumos de energia elétrica nestes edifícios no ano de 2012. Foi também prestado apoio na preparação das três medidas que a OesteSustentável apresentou a concurso no PPEC 2013 – 2014. As medidas foram “Poupe que nós pagamos” e “Ventos de poupança”, ambas medidas intangíveis, e uma medida tangível, o “LEDifícios no Oeste”. Foram ainda elaboradas algumas noticías sobre a atividade da Agência e a participação e apoio na realização de alguns eventos nos quais a Agência esteve envolvida.

Dissertação de Mestrado em Psicologia Clínica A violência no contexto íntimo tem ganho a atenção da comunidade científica nas últimas décadas, principalmente em estudantes universitários, cuja faixa etária mostra ser aquela com uma maior prevalência. Apesar de todo o avanço científico que se tem feito sentir nas últimas décadas, os estudos em Portugal ainda são bastante escassos, não só a nível da prevalência mas também a nível de factores de risco ou variáveis que podem estar associadas com a presença desta problemática, considerada um grave problema social. Torna-se assim imprescindível o conhecimento concreto sobre a dimensão desta problemática nesta população específica, bem como os factores que a ela estão associados, no sentido de se conseguir o planeamento de projectos/programas para o combate e prevenção da violência na intimidade. O presente estudo surge em resposta desta mesma necessidade, e encontra-se dividido em duas partes. A primeira parte diz respeito a uma revisão da literatura realizada de forma reflexiva e analítica em torno desta problemática. A segunda parte apresenta os resultados de um estudo empírico que teve como amostra 341 estudantes universitários da Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro de vários cursos e anos, tendo como principal objectivo conhecer e discutir a prevalência desta problemática, bem como os factores que a esta podem estar associados. The scientific community has developed its attention to violence in an intimacy context in the last decades, mainly with college students, which ages seem to be those with a bigger occurrence. Despite last decades’ scientific advance, studies in Portugal are rare, not only in the occurrence level, but also on a level of risk factors or variables that may be related to this problematic, which is considered a serious social problem. Therefore, it is of a main importance to know the real dimension of this problematic in this specific population, as well as the factors related to it, in order to obtain project/programs planes to fight and prevent intimacy violence. This study is an answer to this need and is divided in two parts. The first one is a reflexive and analytic summary of the literature about this problematic. The second part presents the results of an empiric study that had a sample of 341 college students from many courses and grades in Utad, which main goal was to know and discuss the occurrence of this problematic, as well as the factors that may be related to it.

In Portugal human and canine leishmaniasis are caused by Leishmania infantum, and Phlebotomus perniciosus and P. ariasi are the proven vectors. Three main foci were identified in eighty's decade: Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro region, Lisbon region and Algarve region, but according to OnLeish observatory data, canine leishmaniasis cases have been reported from several other regions, for which sand fly species and their infection rates are unknown. This study is the first phlebotomine survey in Torres Novas municipality, Santarem District, Portugal. The main objectives were to identify the phlebotomine species, their bioecological aspects, Leishmania infection rate and the risk factors for the presence of phlebotomine species in the municipality. From June to November, 2010, 275 biotopes were surveyed with CDC light-traps. Captures covered the 17 parishes of the municipality and included domestic, peridomestic and sylvatic biotopes. Specimens were identified morphologically and females were used for molecular detection of Leishmania and bloodmeal identification. Simple and multiple logistic regression analysis were used to identify risk factors for phlebotomine presence. Nonparametric tests were used to compare densities of independent groups. A total of 1262 sand flies were captured and identified, and four species detected: P. perniciosus (73.69%), P. ariasi (8.16%), P. sergenti (6.58%) and Sergentomyia minuta (11.57%). In 71.4% localities at least one L. infantum proven vector species was present. Risk factors were identified as: high average temperatures and low relative humidities, sheltered locations and absence of strong wind, presence of pine trees as dominant vegetation, peridomestic biotopes, particularly sheep pens or proximity of sheep, poultry and house martin nests. L. infantum infection rate was 4% for P. ariasi and 0.48% for the total of Larroussius females. P. perniciosus females exhibited an opportunistic behavior, feeding in a wide variety of vertebrate hosts. The high abundance and distribution of proven vector species, together with a canine leishmaniasis seroprevalence of 7.93% in the District, and the capture of a gravid infective sand fly female, suggests that Torres Novas municipality is a potential zoonotic leishmaniasis focus in the country.
