Today, we encounter the influence of media on public consciousness in various aspects of our lives – from news portals to social networks. The way we perceive and understand the world around us is significantly shaped by media influence. This calls for a detailed examination of this phenomenon through the lens of socio-philosophical analysis. In the modern information society, where information is primarily transmitted through media channels, understanding the impact of media on public consciousness becomes crucial for revealing different aspects of social processes. The relationship between society and the media is viewed not only as a means of information transmission but also as an active process of interaction that shapes public opinion, influences stereotypes, and cultural values. The relevance of this study lies in understanding this influence, which will help uncover the complex mechanisms of interaction between informational structures and society, as well as explore potential pathways for societal development. The aim of this research is to examine the impact of media on public consciousness from a social and philosophical perspective. We seek to analyze the role of media in shaping public opinion, defining values and stereotypes, and its influence on the sociocultural landscape. Our task also involves identifying the ethical aspects of media usage and revealing the possible consequences of this influence on society. Over the past two decades, the word «media» has increasingly been used both in academic discussions and everyday communication. This term has gained popularity in the lexicon of journalists, PR managers, programmers, military personnel, politicians, and has also found its place in the academic context, especially in the humanities. It is discussed across various fields, from philology to sociology, from communication theory to philosophy. This wide range of usage sometimes complicates the clear definition of its meaning. Thus, it would not be redundant to recall the key concepts associated with this term. «Media», as a term, gained widespread use in the journalistic environment and in its literal sense, becoming associated with mass communication tools. Soon, it found its way into the realm of sociology. Scholars began to study and critically analyze both the concept of «media» itself and the phenomenon it represents. Media are no longer perceived merely as intermediaries between events and their recipients. They are seen as tools for manipulating public opinion. The function of the media is not only to transmit information, but also to shape the ways this information is perceived. It is from this point that the analysis of the media phenomenon begins, which encompasses the study of its historical, social, and political impacts on public life. To achieve the set objective, we will employ a review of literature, scientific articles, and publications from the fields of philosophy, sociology, and media studies. We plan to explore various approaches to understanding the impact of media on public consciousness and analyze their scientific foundations. In particular, we will consider theories related to the formation of stereotypes, ideologies, and the interaction of media with political processes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
