Climate change due to human activities is a reality and a growing threat to global food security. The trend of increasing temperature and decreasing rainfall in Iran shows climate warming, the result of climate change in Iran. Climatesmart agriculture (CSA) is an approach to developing new agricultural practices that support food security against climate change. The purpose of this study was to design a behavioral model for using CSA technologies in three phases: cognitive, motivational, and volitional, using the theories of planned behavior, self-determination, and social cognition. This research is the first to combine behavioral models to understand the application of CSA technologies. The research method in this study was quantitative and non-experimental. The statistical population included 800 wheat farmers from the city of Nazarabad in the Alborz province of Iran. A sample size of 260 people was determined using the Cochran formula. Appropriate stratified sampling was selected as the sampling method. Wheat farmers were then randomly selected in each village through proportional assignment. The research data was collected through a cross-sectional survey and a questionnaire. The models and hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling. The statistical results confirmed the theoretical model and 15 research hypotheses. Additionally, the estimated field model explained about 62% of the variance in the behavior of using CSA technologies. Therefore, cognition, motivation, and volition effectively shape the behavior of using CSA technologies. In the cognitive phase, environmental concerns have the greatest impact on attitude toward the behavior of using CSA technologies (ß = 0.714). In the motivational phase, personal norms have the most impact on the intention to use CSA technologies (ß = 0.643). Finally, in the volitional phase, the intention to use CSA technologies has the highest impact on the behavior of using CSA technologies (ß = 0.386). The increase in the guaranteed purchase price of wheat and paying soft and long-term loans by the policymakers will lead to an increase in the intention of wheat farmers to use CSA technologies. In Australia, checking in while entering venues was a legal requirement during the COVID-19 pandemic to track potential infection sites. This two-wave correlational study used an integrated theory of planned behavior model including moral norms, anticipated regret, and habit to predict check-in compliance in a sample of 181 Victorians (Mean Age = 41.88, 56.4% female) and 162 Queenslanders (Mean Age = 43.26, 47.5% female). Habit and intention predicted behavior, while perceived behavioral control did not. Intention was predicted by baseline habit, attitude, subjective norm, and moral norm in the Victorian sample, while only baseline habit and moral norm predicted intention in the Queensland sample. This study has potential implications for reviewing previous strategies and for future pandemic preparedness, both by identifying the drivers of infection control compliance, and through the discussion of how differences in effects between states may be linked to each state's experience of the pandemic (e.g. infection rates, lockdown length). A majority of studies explore the “uphold” effects of multiple leader behavior toward the voice behavior; nonetheless, our study revealed the “undo” effect --- leader hypocrisy on voice behavior. Drawing on social cognitive theory, we investigated the relationship between leader hypocrisy and voice behavior, examined the mediating effects of cognition-based trust and affect-based trust, and the moderating effect of moral identity.Patients and Methods: We conducted a three-wave survey in a large Chinese corporation to test the hypothesized model. We collected 562 employees to participate in this survey.Results: The results show that leader hypocrisy negatively impacts employees’ cognition-based and affect-based trust, and both types of trust mediate the relationship between leader hypocrisy and voice behavior, respectively. In the meantime, moral identity manifested the negative effect of leader hypocrisy on cognition-based and affect-based trust.Conclusion: Our research not only enriches the related research on leader hypocrisy and voice behavior but also uncovers the underlying mechanism through which leader hypocrisy affects voice behavior and the boundary conditions of this effect. In a meta-analysis of longitudinal analyses of the theory of planned behaviour, we tested a series of extended or auxiliary theory-consistent hypotheses: construct stability, theory predictions within and between occasions, consistency over time or stationarity in theory effects and reciprocal effects among constructs. We also tested the effects of moderators on theory effects: measurement lag, health behaviour type (protection, risk) and specific health behaviours (alcohol, dietary and physical activity). A systematic search identified 87 studies eligible for inclusion. Meta-analytic structural equation models supported construct stability and theory effects within and between occasions. Only the perceived behavioural control–intention effect exhibited stationarity. We found little evidence of reciprocal effects, and theory effects were small after accounting for reciprocal effects. We observed theory-consistent effects for the behaviour-type moderators, but no variation in model effects for the measurement lag moderators. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) have gained popularity among sales professionals who use them for self-directed learning and upskilling. However, research related to their intentions to continue learning is scarce. Drawing from the social cognition theory, this research aimed to address this gap by investigating the role of task-technology fit, self-development, and social recognition in sales professionals' continued use of MOOCs. The study hinged on empirical research and used a survey to collect data from 366 sales professionals. The results suggest that task-technology fit, self-development, and social recognition play a significant role in sales professionals' continued use of MOOCs. The study has practical implications for organizations promoting employee learning and development. Achieving broad immunity through vaccination is a cornerstone strategy for long-term management of COVID-19 infections, particularly the prevention of serious cases and hospitalizations. Evidence that vaccine-induced immunity wanes over time points to the need for COVID-19 booster vaccines, and maximum compliance is required to maintain population-level immunity. Little is known of the correlates of intentions to receive booster vaccines among previously vaccinated individuals. The present study applied an integrated model to examine effects of beliefs from multiple social cognition theories alongside sets of generalized, stable beliefs on individuals' booster vaccine intentions. US residents (N = 479) recruited from an online survey panel completed measures of social cognition constructs (attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and risk perceptions), generalized beliefs (vaccine hesitancy, political orientation, and free will beliefs), and COVID-19 vaccine intentions. Social cognition constructs were related to booster vaccine intentions, with attitude and subjective norms exhibiting the largest effects. Effects of vaccine hesitancy, political orientation, and free will beliefs on intentions were mediated by the social cognition constructs, and only vaccine hesitancy had a small residual effect on intentions. Findings provide preliminary evidence that contributes to an evidence base of potential targets for intervention messages aimed at promoting booster vaccine intentions.

Abstract Background COVID-19 is a universal challenge and novel disease is one of the core public health concerns. This study aimed to determine the factors that affected COVID-19 prevention behaviors (CPB) based on constructs of Social Cognition Theory (SCT). Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted on 426 participants referred to health centers of Arak from October 2021 to February 2022, and they were selected through a multi-stage random sampling method. Data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire which includes socio-demographic data (6 items), COVID-19 prevention behaviors (12 items), and SCT constructs related to COVID-19 (32 items). SPSS Ver-16 statistical software was used to analyze the data with one-way ANOVA, independent samples t-test, and multiple linear regressions. The significance level of α = 0.05 was considered for all tests. Results The mean age was 37.8 years (SD = 12.2) and ranged from 17 to 81. According to the results, 51.2% had higher education and 52.6% of the participants were female. The mean (SD) of COVID-19 preventive behaviors was 43 (SD = 7.8) out of 60. Self-regulation has been found to be integral to academic learning in traditional classroom environments. Social cognition theory highlights the significant relationships between academic self-efficacy, internet self-efficacy, and work experience in years on self-regulation in the context of traditional classroom learning. However, there is a lacuna in the literature on the significance of these relationships in the context of e-learning. The exponential growth of e-learning and changes in business environment necessitate a study to examine the effect on self-regulation in the context of e-learning. This research is based on a sample of 525 management students from a business school in South Asia. The findings highlight that academic and internet self-efficacy have a positive effect on self-regulation even in an e-learning environment. e-learning here refers to interactive online learning, in a university setting. The findings have significant implications for both theory and practice as they build on the existing literature. Hence, based on these predictors, effective interventions and healthy messages could be designed based on this predictor—outcomes expectations, self-regulation, social support, and self-efficacy which can be beneficial to improve healthy behavior. Present paper aims to extend the legitimacy of social cognition theory in the context of e‐learning by examining the relationship between metacognition and critical thinking. In addition, we test the moderating effect of internet self‐efficacy. We contextualize this study to e‐learning as digital medium has become the new normal in post‐Covid era. A sample set of 357 management professionals who have participated in e‐learning recently was obtained, and collected data were analyzed using regression analysis. Our analysis confirms that metacognition is positively associated to critical thinking. Regular participation in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity has been associated with adaptive physical and psychological health benefits including lower risk of non-communicable disease and reduced incidence of mental health conditions. However, a substantive majority the global population does not participate in sufficient physical activity to confer these health benefits, and inactivity levels are particularly high in underrepresented and disadvantaged minority groups, as indicated by negative associations between physical activity participation and socio-structural variables (e.g., socioeconomic status, income, education, health literacy). In addition, evidence suggests that participation in health behaviors such as physical activity partially mediates the association between these sociodemographic variables and health outcomes. We propose a process model specifying a candidate mechanism that may explain the association between socio-structural variables that represent disparity and health behaviors such as physical activity. Specifically, we propose a model in which beliefs such as attitudes, subjective norms, risk perceptions, and self-efficacy mediate associations between socio-structural variables and physical activity participation. After proposing the basic tenets of the model, we provide several examples illustrating the proposed effects for socio-structural variables including socioeconomic status and income, education, and health literacy in Asian contexts, and outline how these effects should be interpreted. We conclude by outlining the theoretical and practical relevance of these findings, and how they may inform interventions aimed at having adaptive effects on health outcomes by promoting physical activity participation and assisting in reducing health behavior disparities in Asian populations.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of clawback to minimize earnings management due to moral disengagement tendencies. To understand the phenomenon of earnings manipulation, as well as the propensity for moral disengagement, we turn to the agency theory and the social cognition theory. In addition, clawback is explained by the supernatural monitoring hypothesis as a tool to lessen earnings manipulation. To test the hypotheses, an experimental study was conducted using a within-subject design. The participants were professional accountants who were pursuing master’s level studies. We found that moral disengagement is preceded by an ethical orientation. More importantly, we found the impact of ethical orientation on intentions for managing earnings is mediated by moral disengagement. Further, we found the clawback scheme reduces the effect of moral disengagement on intentions to manipulate earnings. More specifically, the results show that when adopting a clawback strategy, moral disengagement significantly increases the intention to manipulate accruals but does not significantly affect the intention to manipulate real activity. The results suggest that seriously considering individual characteristics and implementing appropriate incentive programs may lead to a high standard of financial reporting.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the factors affecting unethical pro-organizational behaviors by accountants. Unethical pro-organizational behaviors refer to behaviors that are done to help the organization or its members. In this research, social exchange theory has been used to explain the pro-organizational aspect of these types of behaviors and social cognition theory has been used to explain their unethical aspect. The statistical population of this research is made up of chief financial officers and accountants of manufacturing companies. The required data was collected through standard questionnaires from 181 chief financial officers and accountants in 2023. In this research, structural equation modeling by the partial least squares method was used for data analysis. The results of the hypothesis test indicate that the construct of perceived organizational justice has a positive and significant effect on the constructs of positive social exchange and organizational identity. In addition to this, positive social exchange and organizational identity constructs have positive and significant effects on unethical pro-organizational behaviors, although, in this research, no evidence of the moderating effects of positive reciprocity beliefs and moral identity constructs was found in the relationship between positive social exchange and organizational identity with the unethical pro-organizational behaviors. The results of this research show that the simultaneous use of social exchange theory and social cognition theory can provide a suitable framework for explaining the unethical pro-organizational behaviors of accountants. Domestic minor sex trafficking (DSMT)- also known as the commercial sexual exploitation of youth (CSEY)- is the exchange of sex or sexual acts by an individual under the age of 18 in their country of origin for goods, services, drugs, or money. Research suggests that the children and youth in the United States at most risk for DMST victimization have complex histories of abuse and deprivation; however, the current theoretical frameworks used to understand individuals who have experienced DMST victimization fail to capture these complex histories. Social cognition theory (SCT) allows for a more nuanced understanding of person-environment adaptation. Accordingly, SCT may be useful to enhance our understanding of the cognitive processes youth who have experienced DMST victimization have and how these thoughts are impacted by social, environmental, and personal factors. The current manuscript presents an in-depth application of social cognition theory to DMST risk and prevention scholarship. Using current research on risk and prevention approaches, a model is presented offering a unique and innovative way of understanding DMST victimization in service of informing future prevention interventions. Large corporations can be important symbols in the lives of Korean consumers, but little is known about the way their corporate imagery might be seen by the public. The imagery of 10 such companies was found to be described by and grouped around three theorized image dimensions: warmth, competence, and status. The same dimensions predicted satisfaction and brand-person congruence. We tested competing theories of whether status associations are independent of competence evaluations or are their antecedents. Our data supported the former view. We also tested the theory that warmth evaluations best predict satisfaction and brand-person congruence and found only qualified support. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Given the rapid development of the internet, the prospects for the online travel industry are promising, and online travel communities (OTCs) have become an invaluable platform for people exchanging travel information and making related decisions. However, the mobility and continuous sharing behavior of online travel community users has become a major source of uncertainty in platform management. To establish ways of regulating online communities and promoting innovation and development, this article builds on the knowledge and definitions of relevant concepts that we find in the research literature. Taking the online travel community as its research object and the TripAdvisor website as an example, based on social cognition theory and social exchange theory, this study identifies four community factors that influence the continuous sharing behaviors of users in online travel communities. The results show that richness of self-presentation, community identity, community support and community observation learning all have positive effect on the continuous sharing behavior of online travel community users. BackgroundSocial distancing is a key behavior to minimize COVID-19 infections. Identification of potentially modifiable determinants of social distancing behavior may provide essential evidence to inform social distancing behavioral interventions.PurposeThe current study applied an integrated social cognition model to identify the determinants of social distancing behavior, and the processes involved, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsIn a prospective correlational survey study, samples of Australian (N = 365) and U.S. (N = 440) residents completed online self-report measures of social cognition constructs (attitude, subjective norm, moral norm, anticipated regret, and perceived behavioral control [PBC]), intention, action planning, habit, and past behavior with respect to social distancing behavior at an initial occasion. Follow-up measures of habit and social distancing behavior were taken 1 week later.ResultsStructural equation models indicated that subjective norm, moral norm, and PBC were consistent predictors of intention in both samples. Intention, action planning, and habit at follow-up were consistent predictors of social distancing behavior in both samples. Action planning did not have consistent effects mediating or moderating the intention-behavior relationship. Inclusion of past behavior in the model attenuated effects among constructs, although the effects of the determinants of intention and behavior remained.ConclusionsCurrent findings highlight the importance of subjective norm, moral obligation, and PBC as determinants of social distancing intention and intention and habit as behavioral determinants. Future research on long-range predictors of social distancing behavior and reciprocal effects in the integrated model is warranted.

Objective: We applied an integrated social cognition model to predict physical distancing behavior, a key COVID-19 preventive behavior, over a four-month period. Design: A three-wave longitudinal survey design. Methods: Australian and US residents (N = 601) completed self-report measures of social cognition constructs (attitude, subjective norm, moral norm, perceived behavioral control [PBC]), intention, habit, and physical distancing behavior on an initial occasion (T1) and on two further occasions one week (T2) and four months (T3) later. Results: A structural equation model revealed that subjective norm, moral norm, and PBC, were consistent predictors of physical distancing intention on all three occasions. Intention and habit at T1 and T2 predicted physical distancing behavior at T2 and T3, respectively. Intention at T2 mediated effects of subjective norm, moral norm, and PBC at T2 on physical distancing behavior at T3, and habit at T1 and T2 mediated effects of behavior at T1 and T2 on follow-up behavior at T2 and T3, respectively. Conclusion: Normative (subjective and moral norms) and capacity (PBC) constructs were consistent predictors of physical distancing intention, and intention and habit were consistent predictors of physical distancing behavior. Interventions promoting physical distancing should target change in normative and personal capacity beliefs, and habit. Abstract Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major global health problem. Short-term self-management has been considered to effect some renal and psychological endpoints. However, there are currently very few studies about self-management for CKD that a) have been scientifically designed by a theory-based framework and b) that evaluate the long-term effects and working mechanism. This study presents the rationale and design of a theory-based cohort study to explore how this self-management intervention works and its effectiveness on the Chinese CKD population. Methods In this ambispective intervention cohort study,1,200 patients with CKD stages 1–5 will be recruited from July 2015 to July 2024 in 3 branches of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (GPHCM) in Guangdong province, China. The patients in the self-management cohort will choose to receive an intervention that consists of education, nutrition/diet modification, lifestyle change recommendation, medication review, and psychology support based on Social Cognition Theory (SCT). The patients in the control cohort will do regular follow-ups based on the clinic rules. All the patients will be followed up for 5 years, or until the occurrence of a primary outcome. Detailed clinical, laboratory markers, nutritional status, psychological exposures and outcome questionaries will be collected semiannually in CKD stage 1–2 and trimonthly in stage 3–5 patients. The primary outcome is the occurrence of composite clinical endpoints (doubling of serum creatinine level, ESKD, loss of renal function (≥ 40% decline in GFR from baseline), death, major cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events). We summarize theory and research testing a mechanistic explanation for the trait self-control-health behavior relationship. Specifically, social cognition constructs summarizing individuals' utility, normative, risk, and capacity beliefs with respect to future health behavior performance are proposed to mediate the self-control-health behavior relationship. The effect represents the informational function of self-control in decision making. We also specify a mechanism wherein trait self-control moderates the intention-behavior relationship such that 'good' self-control affords effective intention-to-action translation. Both effects have pervasive support in the extent literature. We propose ongoing meta-analyses expected to provide further robust support for these mechanistic effects and the need for research employing designs enabling better directional and causal inferences in the effects, including experimental or types of cross-lagged panel design., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest Martin S. Researchers can obtain and use information from different channels in the network era, and the explosive growth of information may lead to researchers' academic information avoidance behavior. However, the influence mechanisms of academic information avoidance behavior are unclear. Two studies were conducted to address this issue. In Study 1, we chose young researchers in universities as the research objects to summarize influencing factors including academic information overload, information independence, research task difficulty, time pressure, academic information literacy, negative emotions, and cognitive dissonance of academic information avoidance behavior using social cognitive theory (SCT) and grounded theory. In Study 2, we analyzed the different configuration and key characteristics of academic information avoidance behavior for young researchers using the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method. Our results showed that there were four configurations for the formation of academic information avoidance behavior, which were summarized into three types: "time-driven" with time pressure as the core condition, "information-cognitive-driven" with information independence and cognitive dissonance as the core condition, and "emotion-driven" with negative emotions as the core condition. Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major global health problem. Short-term self-management has been considered to effect some renal and psychological endpoints. However, there are currently very few studies about self-management for CKD that a) have been scientifically designed by a theory-based framework and b) that evaluate the long-term effects and working mechanism. This study presents the rationale and design of a theory-based cohort study to explore how this self-management intervention works and its effectiveness on the Chinese CKD population.Methods: In this ambispective intervention cohort study,1,200 patients with CKD stages 1-5 will be recruited from July 2015 to July 2024 in 3 branches of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (GPHCM) in Guangdong province, China. The patients in the self-management cohort will choose to receive an intervention that consists of education, nutrition/diet modification, lifestyle change recommendation, medication review, and psychology support based on Social Cognition Theory (SCT). The patients in the control cohort will do regular follow-ups based on the clinic rules. All the patients will be followed up for 5 years, or until the occurrence of a primary outcome. Detailed clinical, laboratory markers, nutritional status, psychological exposures and outcome questionaries will be collected semiannually in CKD stage 1-2 and trimonthly in stage 3-5 patients. Based on the social cognition theory, this study aims to explore when and how temporal leadership (TL) leads to bootlegging behaviors (BOs) of employees, with self-efficacy (SE) as a mediator and perceived team efficacy (TE) as a moderator. We conducted a two-stage questionnaire survey and collected data from 231 employees from four companies located in Wuhan, P.R. China. This research studies the mediating effect of employee's social capital on job crafting and job performance, and the moderating effect of core self-evaluation on social capital and job performance. This research will help Guangxi enterprises, against the background of "One Belt One Road", to improve their competitiveness through rational human resource management. A questionnaire survey was conducted, using the convenience sampling method, on 438 employees in Guangxi enterprises, and data analysis was performed using Amos, Smart-PLS and SPSS. The results of the hierarchical linear regression analysis show that social capital partly mediates the effect of job crafting on job performance, and core self-evaluation moderates the effect of social capital on job performance. Dispositional, intra-personal constructs such as personality traits and generalized beliefs are consistently related to health behaviors, but relatively few studies have tested the theory-based mechanisms by which these constructs relate to health behaviors and compared them across behavior type. In the current study we tested an integrated theoretical model in which belief-based social cognition constructs (attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control) were proposed to mediate effects of personality traits (conscientiousness, extroversion) and socio-political beliefs (political beliefs, locus of control, free will beliefs) on participation in three health-related behaviors: physical activity, COVID-19 vaccination, and sugar-sweetened beverage restriction. Proposed integrated model effects were tested in a five-week prospective correlational study. Finnish residents completed measures of personality, socio-political, and social cognition constructs with respect to physical activity participation (N = 557), COVID-19 vaccination uptake (N = 1,115), and sugar-sweetened beverage restriction (N = 558) and self-reported their behavior at follow-up. Structural equation models revealed direct effects of intention on behavior, and of social-cognition constructs on intention, across all behaviors. We also found indirect effects of political beliefs on behavior mediated by social cognition constructs and intentions for COVID-19 vaccination and sugar-sweetened beverage restriction behaviors, indirect effects of conscientiousness on behavior mediated by social cognition constructs and intentions for physical activity and sugar-sweetened beverage restriction behaviors, and indirect effects of health locus of control on behavior mediated by social cognition constructs and intentions for physical activity behavior. Finally, we found a negative total effect of populist beliefs on behavior for COVID-19 vaccination behavior. Objective: Observed variation in health behavior may be attributable to socio-structural variables that represent inequality. We tested the hypothesis that variability related to socio-structural variables may be linked to variation in social cognition determinants of health behavior. A proposed model in which effects of socio-structural variables (age, education level, gender, income) on health behavior participation was mediated by social cognition constructs was tested. Design: Model effects were tested in correlational datasets (k = 13) in different health behaviors, populations, and contexts. Samples included self-report measures of age, highest attained education level, gender, and net household income, and constructs from the theory of planned behavior (attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, intention). Ten samples provided follow-up self-reports of health behavior. Results: Path analyses supported sample-specific indirect effects of gender and age on health behavior with comparatively few income and education level effects. Meta-analytic structural equation modeling indicated consistent indirect and total effects of gender on intentions and health behavior through social cognition constructs, and a total effect of education level on behavior. Conclusion: Results provide support for the proposed mechanism by which socio-structural variables relate to health behavior. The one-to-one teacher–student relationship is a common learning configuration within jazz education. However, opportunities to learn through engagement in ensemble performances and industry-level recording opportunities with esteemed jazz performers are rare classroom environments the tertiary jazz music institutions offer. This qualitative study examines 'real-world' jazz performance contexts within an Australian tertiary music course, exploring students' learning experience spanning three diverse collaborative projects. Bandura's Social Cognition Theory is utilized to elucidate an ecological system of musical development, where learning occurs in a social context within dynamic, reciprocal interactions between learners, environment and students' adaptive behaviours that are bounded by context, culture and learner history. Findings from pre- and post-participation interviews reveal student and educator perspectives of engaging in authentic experiential learning situations. A stratum of positive influences impacting students included metacognitive, behavioural, emotional affordances, as well as the cultivation of a wider social, environmental and cultural/creative confidence and an expanding collaborative community influencing individuals' learning decisions. Students and educator participants expressed professional-level expectations, real-world outcomes, and a deeper musical connection and understanding by students of the guest artist/composers' intention, musical aesthetic and expert band direction. The authors maintain that inclusion of experience-based education and embedding of authentic professional industry experience and creative music-making contexts within educational settings enhance the learning of students and potentially enculturate richer musicianship in students and their developing creative communities. Research suggests an entrepreneur's prior knowledge influences opportunity recognition and exploitation, which have long been recognized as central aspects of the entrepreneur ship process. In this study, we extend this research by investigating the effects of prior knowledge on opportunity recognition and exploitation in markets that diverge from an entrepreneur's current business and explore whether such effects vary by gender. We apply social cognition theory to inform our study, and we collect data from entrepreneurs (N=239) using a web-based survey. We analyze the data using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with multigroup analyses (MGA). Our findings reveal prior knowledge positively predicts opportunity recognition and exploitation in new markets, though these effects differ for male versus female entrepreneurs. This study explored the influence of followers' expectations on leaders' behavior. Through a qualitative bounded case study design of six Evangelical church leaders in Amman, Jordan, the study sought to answer two questions: How would leaders act and behave if their implicit leadership theories (ILTs) were in direct conflict with those of their followers? Would pastors conform to followers' expectations if they clash with the leaders' expectations, specifically if they conflict with the biblical core values? The study found that leaders' behavior and adaptation under pressure depend on two factors: mature character and motivation. The study also found several pressure sources and confirmed that parents and other contextual variables influence the leaders' ILT structures. The study contributes to the scholarly and practitioner literature in filling a research gap of leaders' ILTs in a specific culture and provides several recommendations for future studies and applications. Diversity resistance is the dynamic interplay of individual and collective behaviors, with individual resistance rooted in unconscious motivation and organizational resistance rooted in the collective behavior of individuals. The purpose of this article is to enrich understanding of the forms of diversity resistance and introduce literature which may help move individuals and organizations to more equitable and integrative norms. We present a continuum of diversity resistance and integration in organizations to help human resource development (HRD) researchers and professionals consider how resistance to diversity can be reduced in leading to the full integration of employees. Presently, there is no clarity on the complex relationship between entrepreneurial team heterogeneity and female entrepreneurial performance. Based on social cognition theory, this study reveals a multiple mediating model of female entrepreneur (FE) experiential learning and female entrepreneur (FE) opportunity recognition and development on the relationship between entrepreneurial team heterogeneity and female entrepreneurial performance. By analyzing the sample data of 558 Chinese female entrepreneurs through structural equation modeling, the results show that entrepreneurial team heterogeneity has a significant positive impact on female entrepreneurial performance; FE opportunity recognition and development play a partial mediating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial team heterogeneity and female entrepreneurial performance; FE experiential learning does not play a mediating role between entrepreneurial team heterogeneity and female entrepreneurial performance; FE experiential learning and FE opportunity recognition and development play a serial mediating role between entrepreneurial team heterogeneity and female entrepreneurial performance. Successful entrepreneurs rely on their cognition, among other skill sets, to recognize and exploit opportunities. Although the entrepreneurship field has advanced significantly over the last two decades, there is much to learn about entrepreneurs' cognitions and behaviors. Consequently, there have been recent calls for scholars to adopt interactive perspectives in entrepreneurship research. As part of this broader conversation that emphasizes the need for a deeper understanding of the interactions between entrepreneurs' and their environments, we discuss insights from social cognition theory. We provide brief reviews of entrepreneurship and cognition, as well as an example of the role of social cognition in entrepreneurship. Posting behaviour on social networking sites (SNS) has become a method enabling unsatisfied users to vent emotions. Based on social cognition theory (SCT), personal outcome expectations and selfefficacy affect posting behaviour for venting emotions on SNS. However, perceived social support (PSS) may alter the relationships within the SCT model. Thus, this study aimed to explore the moderating effect of PSS on the relationships between variables in the SCT model for venting emotions on SNS. In total, 310 unsatisfied customers in Taiwan were investigated, and structural equation modelling was performed to test the hypotheses. The results indicated that personal outcome expectations and self-efficacy were positively associated with posting behaviour which, in turn, increased venting emotions on SNS. This study examined the effect of verbally aggressive media on self-reported verbal aggression. Using a theoretical framework provided by social cognitive theory, participants were randomly assigned to watch either a verbally aggressive television show or a neutral show. Participants' verbal aggression was assessed both several weeks before exposure and then again immediately after exposure. A between-subjects analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) indicated an interaction between participants' sex and exposure condition, with males reporting greater verbal aggressiveness after exposure to the verbally aggression stimuli. Purpose -- As it has been suggested that adult third-culture kids may be more culturally adaptable than others, they have been labelled "the ideal" expatriates. The purpose of this paper is to explore the adjustment of self-initiated expatriate academics in Hong Kong, comparing adult third-culture kids with adult mono-culture kids. Design/methodology/approach -- The authors use survey results from 267 self-initiated expatriate academics in Hong Kong. Findings -- Exploratory results show that adult third-culture kids had a higher extent of general adjustment. No significant results were found in relation to interaction adjustment and job adjustment. The authors also found that recent expatriate experiences generally had a positive association with the adjustment of adult mono-culture kids, but this association only existed in terms of general adjustment for adult third-culture kids. Originality/value -- Once corroborated by further studies, this exploratory research project may contribute to the understanding of the adjustment of adult third-culture kids as well as the role of experience and multicultural abilities.
